First time in Vail and we're very happy that we stayed here. Maybe an odd start when we dropped off the car at the front door because no one helped at all with any of our luggage. Because of its location there was no need to ever use the free bus that runs through the Village. It's practically in the center. One night our restaurant was a leisurely 10 minute walk, the next maybe half that. Our room on the 3rd floor had a small balcony that looked down the quaint street as well as a view of the mountains. The hotel itself looks as though it was transported from Germany. The hotel staff was very friendly and informative. The breakfast was good, with one morning serving made to order omelets. It has an outside hot tub as well as a pool. Very nice atmosphere and stay. read more

this is our second visit since buying a condo with this property. The unit is very very nice and decorated nicely. It has more than enough room for six people. I wanna give a shout out to Paula at the front desk. She was so pleasant. Nice friendly, without trying to be your new best friend. All of the personnel from housekeeping to engineering were on top of their jobs. My only complaint is the breakfast. Yes, it is Included in the cost of your unit or room Should you be a guest. it's pretty basic with eggs, protein oatmeal, which is darn good. By the way, waffle maker, fresh fruit, cold cuts, and cheese for the Europeans. It's the protein I have a problem with. The sausage patties are my God, an eighth of an inch thick and cooked to death. That pig is already been killed. Three times. The link sausage is better, but not by much. The bacon is horrible. it's just all cooked together in a giant pan. I think it's because it's all stuck together, but the amenities personnel and unit itself out. Way these issues. Looking forward to our return. One last note, I was disappointed that the front desk, not Paul, didn't say anything like, how was your stay or we hope you had a pleasant time or looking forward to see you on your next trip. read more

We stayed here at the Austria Haus while skiing at Vail for the weekend and really enjoyed our visit. The rooms and beds were nice and cozy with a fireplace and great views of the surrounding mountains. Austria Haus is located in Vail Village near Gore Creek and walking distance to Gondola One. This hotel has a nice European charm to it with great customer service. Some of the amenities I enjoyed were the continental breakfast, heated pool, hot tub, gym, in-room coffee, local newspaper, and the yummy cookies in the lobby. The breakfast is buffet style and pretty amazing. I had waffles, eggs, cheese, bacon with fruit, coffee and juice. The dining area was nice and spacious. If you want to dine out or go for a stroll, all the shops and restaurants in Vail Village are close by. For parking, you can either park in the nearby pubic parking or pay valet. No matter what you decide to do, plan on paying a pretty penny to park here. But other than that, everything was great and I would definitely stay here again. read more

We recently went on our family vacation to Vail Colorado and stayed at the Austria Haus. From the moment of check in it was wonderful. We were treated like royalty. They loaded our luggage and took it to our room for us. The manager Paul is fantastic. He is kind, professional, and very responsive. We also loved Paula. She was so friendly just like we had known her for years. Paul and Paula would welcome us each day with their smiles! The staff knows alot about the area and is so helpful. Every afternoon they put out cookies and every morning there is quit a spread of delicious and healthy options for breakfast. One morning we had custom omelettes, the next morning hot biscuits and gravy, there is granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, and more. You will not leave hungry. There is a lovely and comfortable sitting room off the main eating area. We played cards here every night with friends and family. Our room was spotless when we checked in. The entire hotel is extremely clean and well kept. The decor is warm and feels like you stepped into Germany for vacation. The location is THE BEST in my opinion. It is just a few steps from the coffee shops, ice cream, clothing, and tons of restaurants right around the corner. We have no complaints and will choose Austria Haus when we return to Vail. read more

Austria Haus lives up to the great reviews. The location is right in the heart of Vail Village and is just a short walk from Gondola One. My friend and I ended up with a room with two queen beds (although they looked a bit smaller). Beds were very comfy with four pillows each. The bathroom was quite nice/upscale and had a separate toilet room (I typically call it the pooper room, but you have to be a little classier when staying at a nice hotel). Staff were friendly, if not a touch pushy to help us with our bags. Not a bad thing, but I felt a bit pressured to let them help us unload our vehicle. The hotel has a fairly well-equipped fitness room, heated pool, and a nice-sized hot tub. They provide you with bath robes that you can wear out to the hot tub, which is a really thoughtful touch. Free, fast wifi is available. And the shining star (at least for me) was the free breakfast - lots of delicious options available. If I had to knock anything about the hotel, then it would be parking. The garage is valet-only... and it's $55/night. I don't recall seeing that on the website when booking, but regardless, it is about $20 per night cheaper than the parking lot located (pretty much) next door. *****FIVE STARS***** read more

It feels like a calm, private sort of place. My family of 3 (hubby me and baby age 1) felt welcomed and relaxed while staying here. Breakfast tends to be the same variety of options plus one new thing( one day it was grapefruit another day it was veggie egg bites and bacon) . Staples are bagels, breads, waffles, boiled egg, charcuterie meats and cheeses, juices, mills, yogurts and cereals. The view is incredible from the dining area. There's a library with books and games. A small workout area. Teas and coffees offered 24/7. They valet your car and ski equipment. Kind and attentive staff who really ensure you have a positive stay! We love our room, great design and well cleaned. The heated floors are a game changer during our stay in the cold winter. We just returned from two nights at the Austria Haus and I would highly recommend the hotel. The staff is excellent and extremely helpful. We thought Kary (sp) was a great valet and always gave us great advice on the area. Our room was excellent. We stayed in a Columbine Deluxe Room that faced the main street. It was plenty big and I loved the extra sitting area to read in. I will say that the lighting in the room needs to be improved. Even having every light on, it wasn't that bright. Our bathroom was quite large and even had a separate area for the toilet. The bath tub is a little high so a non-slip mat in the tub would be something I would suggest for the hotel. The room does have A/C (I believe) but I could not get it to work - but it was in the 50's overnight so we slept with the windows open. You will hear some street noise / truck deliveries in the AM. I thought the breakfast was great. Surprised by some of the complaints. There were always "make your own waffles" and on the second morning, they also had little quiches and bacon. Location-wise - perfect. Right in the middle of the village and many streets/restaurants to walk to. There is a valet for your car - which while it is "free"(as is the breakfast), you're paying a nightly resort fee to cover it. I absolutely love this boutique hotel, we haven't been back to Val in more than 10 years and it's been quite a pleasure. The rooms are spectacular. Their breakfast is wonderful. But Vail has changed tremendously...Make sure you brush up on your Spanish. It has a very high Hispanic dominance . When my husband and I used to come, it was very international. Not so anymore. As far as the hotel, I would recommend this 100% although I don't think we will be returning we truly felt like minorities. read more

We quite enjoyed our stay here, right in Vail Village, where so much is going on. The free bus stops very close to the hotel, so you can go to Lionshead Village (and maybe other places) on it very conveniently. The hotel is charming, and I loved the window flower box on our "balcony." The room's A/C runs silently and isn't overly powerful, so bring a fan and some white noise if you need that to sleep. There are several beautiful places to stay in Vail Village, but the exceptional staff and service are what set Austria Haus apart from the rest. We stayed 5 nights at this luxuriously charming property and enjoyed every minute! Paul, Veronica and the rest of the crew went above & beyond to provide a positive experience from arrival to departure. The bellmen were so helpful and ski valet was very convenient. The complimentary breakfast was a perfect start each morning with a different main dish daily and tons of options to eat healthy - or indulge! The location directly along the river was fantastic with a stunning view of the slopes and walkable to everything! Countless restaurants and shops to explore just steps out of the door. We enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub daily. Great environment for couples or families. The rooms were well-equipped, quiet and so comfortable that it was tough to leave. Wonderful stay in a gorgeous 3 bed, 3 bath condo in the heart of Vail village. Pros: European style breakfast each morning. When staying for a week, it would be nice if they mixed up the selections a few more times. Meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, waffles and toast selections. One day we had an omelet bar!! But just one day. The rooms are gorgeous, old style Austrian. Hotel staff is super friendly and professional! Free valet parking from 6 am-11pm! Be sure to tip! Cons: Here's the only issue I had while staying here, and unfortunately there is absolutely nothing the gracious staff can do about it. At night, the outside area behind the hotel, and near the beautiful wooden bridge, becomes a haven hangout for college students and millennials who get $@#! faced and decide to yell obscenities while parading around drunk. I know, I know...I'm not "that" old but while I'm trying to sleep at 2 am and it's still going on, it becomes a major, MAJOR pain night after night!! This is unfortunate since you have to have your sliding doors open at night to get any breeze as I'm not even certain they have AC. You don't really need AC down in the valley! I wish they had some kind of noise or public drunkenness ordinance for the sake of us "old" people but I don't think there is. If you can tolerate this, you'll still love it here! read more

Let me start of by saying that what make this hotel amazing is its STAFF, specially Kim, Mark and Colin. Kim went above and beyond and called over 6 companies to arrange our last minute airport transportation, she didn't give up and kept calling companies tell she was able to find us a good deal, she was so helpful and had a great attitude the whole time we are so thankful for her. Mark was always there with his great energy and smile, and he made sure that all our needs were met, also he provided us with great recommendations for restaurants that made this trip special. Colin was so helpful and always up to our service, he is the best. This hotel is extremely well rounded in every aspect. From the time we walked into the front lobby, all 3 employees were extremely helpful and friendly. That set off the proper mood for a great stay. We proceeded to our room and found a very spacious room with sitting area, fireplace, and large bathroom. Everything about this room was top notch. The breakfast spread is outstanding. Room service are just as friendly as the front desk staff. We were scheduled to stay 1 day and ended up staying 3 days. We will make this hotel a priority when staying in Vail. I never ever write reviews nor checkin but thought I would for this place. Stayed here with my parents and had the most pleasant experience! First of all there's valet parking, front desk staff was super friendly and helpful (they genuinely wanted to make sure we had activities planned so that we would enjoy our experience in vail), room was spacious and the bathroom is huge, water is provided in the rooms daily, free breakfast with a beautiful view (we went in the winter), great location, around the corner from vail village and just the overall homey/European feel! Also after a long morning of "activities" we came home to chocolate chip cookies! Highly recommend! If ever we come back to Vail, we're definitely staying here again. read more

I had originally booked our Vail room at the Ritz in Bachelor Gulch. After reviewing their website and realizing that between the resort fee and valet we'd be paying an extra $110 a night on top of a $200+/night price tag, I quickly changed my reservation to the Austria Haus based on price, location and positive reviews. The best thing about the Austria Haus is their amazing service, especially their valet and reception/check-in. We instantly felt welcome. The location is right in the heart of the village. Unless you were checking out another town, there would be not much reason to use a car while in Vail Village. Our room wasn't overly impressive but it didn't lack in any aspect either. The deep soaking tub was much appreciated as was the super comfortable bed and dark drapes for a good night sleep. We enjoyed the welcome reception on Monday and we were sorry that we didn't get up on time for breakfast. Apparently some of the rooms at Austra Haus are timeshares but we had no idea until someone at another hotel told us. The only issue we had was an overly persistent maid who continually knocked on our door wanting to know if we needed anything (around 9am), despite the do-not-disturb sign hanging outside. Otherwise, I would wholeheartedly recommend Austria Haus when staying in Vail. read more

Well I am sure I would have liked staying at this hotel yet when my last minute work travel plans changed and I no longer had an extra day, I needed to cancel my reservation. So this review comes with low ratings due to a strict cancellation policy and poor customer service. When I found out my work plans had changed I tried calling immediately (less than 8 hours from booking) to cancel. It took me a day to actually speak with someone after calling several times because the phone system wouldn't register the numbers dialed to access certain departments. When I finally got through they told me I couldn't cancel within 13 days of travel, a policy not so clearly shown on their website. Thing is I booked within less than that time so like most hotels I expected a 24 hour cancellation exception. The reservation person directed me to the hotel front desk and I ended up speaking with the manager. The manager was not empathetic at all. I explained the situation mentioned that I had not even received a confirmation of my reservation so I was also unsure if it had gone through. Yet the only thing she was willing to do is change the date to later in the Summer, not helpful when I am in Colorado for only a few days. Advice to the hotel is to have a better website system that doesn't hide the policy and which gives guests a confirmation via email. As someone who creates websites for a living, the experience of booking is subpar but this seems to align with the service and strict policies so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. read more

Yes, but compared to other places in Vail, is probably on par considering its very convenient location to the slopes, restaurants, buses, etc...Cookies or bars served daily (delish; usually make an appearance around 1pm & if you're lucky, some will still be around by the time you get off the slopes); hot chocolate on demand; happy hour Fri & Sat (seems to be a new thing - pretzel with cheese was warm, soft & yummy); welcome party with assorted snacks and a free beer/wine; inviting jacuzzi; the rooms have heated bulbs in the bathroom and the sheets are super soft (pillows could be firmer); staff was excellent (friendly at all hours of the day & tried to accommodate you as well as they could); breakfast is pretty good for continental (there's a waffle maker with rotating flavors - chocolate chip & blueberry are different; fresh grapefruit; large variety of fruit juices (like pineapple); definitely a good variety of food; salmon with capers on the weekend; if a person is staying for more than a few days, adding something different might be nice); ice water, coffee, teas and fresh fruits available all day long. This place!!!! I have not one bad thing I could even fathom saying. First off, the location is amazing. Easy to find! Although in a high traffic area, the walls are very thick. Closed the window and heard silence. You are greeted with valet and beautiful smiles at the front desk. If wanted a helpful bellboy; then off to your Austrian oasis. Decorated perfectly rooms and hallways. Our suite was both absolutely stunning and unique. The staff left strawberries and a note to greet us. The robes were warm and cozy and a perfect place for our engagement!!!!! Then to congratulate us- some cookies, milk and a personalized note from all the staff. It was magical. The Austria House is a very nice hotel that my wife an I stayed for one night to do some skiing for a weekend. The hotel is on the west side of the main village area so it is just a 1 minute walk to the main Vail village. From the valet to the front desk, all the employees were very nice and accomdating. We stayed in room 213 that faced the road. Since the busses are hybrid electric they sound more like a golf cart going by than a city bus. The noise was never an issue. The room was average size with a king bed and a heated tile floor in the bathroom. My wife loved that. The breakfast in the morning is nice. Some cereals, oatmeal, bread, bagels, cold cuts, fruit, juice & coffee and a waffle maker. Overall it is a very nice place and a great location in Vail. read more

Our one-night stay at the Austria Haus Hotel was magical, luxurious, and romantic. My husband and I loved the simple chalet style decor, the very comfortable bed, linens, bathrobes, and furniture. We especially enjoyed the large bathtub, perfect for two. I wish I had brought bubble bath! The public spaces were classy and comfortable. We swam in the pool, sat in the hot tub, and enjoyed excellent service from every employee we encountered. The entire place seemed to be very clean and well-cared for. The breakfast was very good, especially the smoked salmon. There were many options, ranging from belgian waffles, to bagels, to oatmeal, to yogurt and fruit. There were also hard boiled eggs, and deli meats. Very satisfying. I strongly recommend a stay at this lovely, luxurious getaway. read more

The bathroom was big and excellent. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The room was well lit. Everything was extremely clean. Breakfast was also excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would love to stay here again. Compared to the other places in Vail, Austria Haus is a great deal and price. Austria Haus is a nice hotel - clean rooms, easy valet service, expansive breakfast, quiet. Nothing was 'amazing' though and I would not describe this hotel as upscale. I'm not sure the price justifies the amenities and I don't entirely understand why people rave about this hotel. In hindsight, I wish I had booked a cheaper place in lionshead bc nothing about this hotel was special. I booked through the reservations number where you can also book lift tickets, ski rentals, etc. The agent informed me that my ski lift tickets would be waiting for me at the hotel upon check in, allowing us to skip the line in the morning at the lift ticket window. Alas, this was not true. There were no lift tickets waiting for us, and the front desk clerk informed me that they never have lift tickets there for the guests. This is not the hotel's fault, but you would think they would be on the same page as their reservation agents. read more

This was absolutely one of the best experiences I have ever had at a hotel in a resort town. Granted, it is a resort town so it is imperative for the hotel staff to be professional, hospitable and customer oriented, but I felt that they went above and beyond to make my experience memorable. The front desk staff walked outside to guide me to their parking lot when I couldn't immediately find them. The room was comfortable, with a mini fridge, dvd player, flat panel tv, robes in the closet, a wonderful heated tiled bathroom floor, and double showerheads in the shower. I enjoyed the fairly small outdoor hot tub and their breakfast was quite nice. The hotel staff was gracious enough to let me walk around the Village before bringing up my car. I had nothing but wonderful experiences in my stay at Austria Haus. When we checked in, the manager ended up being from a neighboring town of mine (in Illinois) and upgraded our room. We ended up having a fireplace with a sitting area, two double beds, plenty of storage space (coat/shoe nook, closet with big safe, dresser, desk, and nightstand), and a huge bathroom! We had a shower and a bathtub, which we ended up not using but it was definitely big enough for two! Breakfast everyday was amazing and was a good money saver if you were planning on eating breakfast in town every day. Every day there was: make your own waffles with a variety of toppings (fresh berries, whipped cream, maple syrup), bagels, English muffins, bread, yogurt, fresh fruit, oatmeal (not the MYO in little packets) with a variety of toppings (raisins, brown sugar, etc.), cereal, and delicious ham and cheese crossaints. So good! There was also a "main course" that varied from day-to-day. This included smoked salmon, luncheon meats and cheese, and sausage and eggs. I've heard there was an omelette station, but it wasn't there during my visit. Tip: Eat your breakfast outside near the pool for views that just can't be beat! The location is great! It's a super short walk to Vail Village (one minute or less) and it's a close walk to a bus stop if you're tired after a long day of activities. The pool and south side of the hotel offer gorgeous mountain views and Gore Creek. The pool itself is a good size (not very big, but it easily met our needs) and it has a large hot tub. It gets great sunlight all day. TLDR: Outstanding staff, wonderful views, fabulous location, everything is wonderful! I will be recommending this hotel to everyone I know and I hope to stay here again very, very soon! read more

We have stayed here a number of times over the year and it has always been a fantastic experience. Desk staff is very helpful. Valet parking included in the room rate. Free wifi. Great breakfast included as well. The only reason we ever stay anywhere else is that they do not allow pets. Off season rates are very good for the area, and it is a nicer hotel than many that are more expensive. Very highly recommended. Location is excellent and very close to Ford Amphitheater and the rest of Vail Village. Air conditioning in every room, which is not universal in Vail. read more

Very cozy so I skipped to ski one day for reading a book in the room. Breakfast buffet is nice but the dining room feels old and not attractive. The ski village bus come very often and the bus stop is at the front of the hotel. Unless you stay along the slope, this is a great place to stay. read more

I was in charge of picking the hotel for my friend's bachelorette party, and this was a gem. The hotel itself is clean, bright, and cool/trendy, but not so much so that you feel uncomfortable. The rooms were fantastic. We were on the 4th floor with a good view of the mountains. The room was so quiet with the window shut. The beds were sooooooo comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud. And even though the rooms are bright and cheerful, there are blackout curtains to get some much needed sleep after a girls night out. The location of the hotel is also a huge plus. We could walk to the restaurant and club that we visited that night. It was really convenient. We ate at the restaurant in the lobby for breakfast and really enjoyed the meal. The service was friendly and fast, and the food was nicely presented, which is surprising for a breakfast meal. Everything tasted great (I had the breakfast burrito, but i also tried my friend's monte cristo and another girl's croissant sandwich), and the prices were reasonable. To top it off, they automatically set us up with a late checkout for 2:00 PM. I guess they knew that a bachelorette party would need the extra time the next day :) read more
