So...(1) we checked in in a Sunday afternoon, an early check in, but the front desk said "sure." Gave us our condo keys and off we went. Manager on duty came running to parking garage and said they gave us the wrong room. It was on the third floor. Said it had just been painted and needed us to take a ground level floor instead. The place was not highly occupied for the week. Hmmm...?? the condo was ok, bath tub wouldn't hold water, and hot water took time to arrive, but ground floor meant right there by the hot tubs and early morning maintenance guys going back and forth. Privacy was not too amenable. (2) Today, days after checking out, I saw on my credit card an additional $95 from Breck Reservations. I called the resort. This was for "amenities fees". Not disclosed when room was booked or included in our full prepayment. Felt like a parlor trick. Won't be going back. read more

Other than the hair left in the shower by previous guests, fairly pleased with this stay. Free parking in a covered, private underground garage with an elevator right there. Kitchen with pots, pans, utensils, and even a dishwasher. Large king bedroom and pullout couch. Walk out patio. Even a humidifier in the closet for use (not sure if was cleaned for mold or not so didn't use). Only other big complaint was the pillows. These things were overstuffed, and 14 inches tall. If you want to sleep with a pillow enjoy a 60 degree neck bend...... read more

This is an excellent location. Unfortunately Vail resorts does not do a very good job maintaining these condos. Upon checking in we discovered the sofa bed was altogether missing the mattress and we were unable to use the bed or the couch for the entire stay. Vail resorts refunded us $400 total, which they said, was the difference between a three bedroom and two bedroom for four nights. Also broken were the coffee maker, two humidifiers, and the downstairs shower drain was clogged, which we fixed ourselves. When we used the sister facilities at One Ski Hill Place - the bowling alley was broken and the pool had zero towels after calls from several patrons. We also discovered that if you walk across Main street to rent your skis, they are 25% of the cost that Vail resorts charges. Overpriced and terrible customer service. Most of the resort is staffed by foreign nationals who are there for a few months to work and make as much money as possible. There's not a lot of pride being taken in this business from the top down. Definitely will not be staying here again read more

Are you a voyeur, exhibitionist, pedophile, Peeping Tom? Then this is the place for you. Mountain Thunder Lodge, a Vail Resorts Management Company property, are aware that their roller shades offer ZERO privacy at night. That's right. Both bedrooms and the living room are totally visible to anyone on the patio next door, in the neighboring buildings, or walking or driving by. We stayed here for our teen daughter's spring break during the first week of April. From inside, we had no idea that at night anyone outside can see right in. We had ZERO privacy and didn't realize until the end of our stay. My husband spoke with management regarding this and their solution was to offer a maintenance person to come hang a sheet over the inside of our windows. They refused to move us or change out the blinds. They also refused to take any responsibility and claimed it was up to the actual condo owner to alert us that any random person in a neighboring condo, or walking or driving on the street could see right into our condo at night. We rented the condo directly from Mountain Thunder Lodge, a Vail Resort at Breckenridge. We have no idea who actually owns the condo. They did offer to refund us the $30 daily resort fee. We spent $4,000 on our one week stay. They also had the audacity to charge us an extra $175 when we asked for a late checkout. Guests should have every expectation of privacy in bedrooms. This resort clearly does not care about the safety and well-being of their guests. We also asked management to have a representative of their legal team contact us. It has been 10 days since we checked out and we have not heard from anyone. I cannot recommend this resort and would give it zero stars if I could. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights. BEWARE!!! TAKE A VIDEO WHEN FIRST ENTERING YOUR ROOM. Mountain thunder lodge charged me an extra 100$. I called the lodge. After a week of waiting, the nice manager called me back to explain the charge. "A missing alarm clock." YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. Sounds like they are charging people for others mistakes. Get a clue. Not coming back here. Classic Vail Resorts. read more

No towels at the pool. Our trip could have been a lot better by doing one simple thing - stocking the towels at the pool and hot tubs. Yes, I notified staff and called the front desk and they would send someone to bring towels. No, it didn't seem to get better after that. Most times we wen't to the pool, there were no towels. Other guests started brining their room towels because of this. Part of the problem is that there's only one cabinet to hold clean towels and it's not big enough. They need more. They should also send someone to stock it more regularly. The main pool area is great. There are 2 hot tubs and a pool in this area. The pavement is a bit rough compared to other pools. read more

This hotel overcharged me by $445.71. The manager Kamilla Choma agreed to return the funds to my account but i still do not see the chargeback over two months later. This process has been extremely frustrating for months and am sick and tired of dealing with these cowards back and forth. Just a joke of customer service. I will file a chargeback to my credit card now as they are completely inept at doing a basic job. read more

If I come back to Breckenridge, this is definitely a place I would stay! Staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating. There are different buildings that you could be staying in. As for the main building (where the lobby is located): there is parking in a key access garage beneath the building, there is a fitness center, hot tub (really, really HOT), free shuttles that will take you and pick you up from anywhere in Breckenridge (7a-1130p), free wi-fi, and free ski/snowboard lockers. This is not a ski out location, but the shuttle will drop you off at the gondola or at Beaver Run. This IS a ski-in hotel; one of the ski run's that ends at the gondola, just so happens to swing directly at the back steps of the hotel lobby. Our studio condo had everything in it that we would need...the only thing it doesn't have is a waher/dryer, but I certainly did not need that while on vacation :) I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family! read more

My kids asked for ski maps and town maps from the front desk, the woman dismissed them with a "we don't do that because of covid" without even looking up from her game of solitaire/ candy crush/ chess. Completely dismissive and unprofessional. No text when the room is ready (after they "promised" they would), wrong room configuration even though it was confirmed and paid for (apparently not their fault/concern. I would not recommend this place, dated, overpriced and the staff is unconcerned. read more

I was here for a wedding. My girl and I stayed with friends in a 2 bedroom unit and it was unbelievable. The room was great, comfy beds, TVs in every room, beautiful view, full kitchen, free shuttle, and helpful/friendly staff. I was most impressed with the staff. The shuttle was fast and efficient with friendly drivers. Check-in and check-out was quick and simple. At the wedding, the waitstaff and food was excellent. I would definitely return to this place and highly suggest it. read more

WOW!! An amazing room, great location and views. Ok we stayed here in late September and missed the snow, but this was the wife's first time to Colorado and I had to bring her to Breckenridge. We only had one night, but I could have seen me staying here easily for a week; although the prices were probably a lot higher during the busy season. We had a one bedroom, but the living room had a pull-out sofa so four adults would have been comfortable in this room, yet only one bathroom, but it was very large. Kitchen came with all of the essentials, coffee pot, cookware, etc. so eating out everyday would not be necessary. There was also a large gas fireplace which would be great during a cold evening or warming up after the slopes and lastly the bed was extremely comfortable, almost felt like our Tempur-Pedic back home. Staff was friendly and the facility offered under the building parking. Overall a great place and would definitely stay here again, next time there has to be snow though!! read more

We stayed here for the weekend for our honeymoon. The customer service was great and they even gave us a bottle of wine for our honeymoon. We had reserved a 1 bedroom but ended up in a 2 bedroom. Absolutely LOVE the fireplace. They have a garage for visitors to park in and even if the garage is full we were allowed to park right outside the front door. Free hot drinks in the lobby were much appreciated in the morning. Great location for skiers and snowboarders to access the gondola (5 minute walk) for a quick ride up the mountain. They also have a free shuttle service for guests however we did not use it. We will definitely be staying here the next time we visit Breckenridge. read more

Stayed here for my wedding in March. Currently typing this review from the living room at 2 in the morning because (jokes aside) the bed is so squeaky even the tiniest movement will wake my wife up. Not a terrible experience but not at all what we expected for the $300+ per night we are paying. We stayed at the Double Tree up the street for a few days before "upgrading" to this place. It was half he price, had a great restaurant and bar, and the lobby was a vibrant, fun place to be with people hanging around chatting, waiting for the shuttle, etc. In comparison, this place is a ghost town. The one time we tried to take the shuttle we stood outside for 20 minutes and just ended up walking. It's also worth mentioning that the elevator was broken during check in, and the front desk offered no assistance at all in getting our bags up the stairs to the room. Pros: ski-in, private garage parking, close to town. Staff has been friendly and housekeeping is spot on. Cons: Expensive. TV in the living room is about 28". TV in the bedroom is even smaller - see the Pics. For $300+ a night you'd think they could update some amenities. Bed is squeaky as hell as mentioned. Shower head (see pic) is disgusting. We did not have a bad time here, but I just can't recommend it unless you absolutely have to have a ski-in scenario. Otherwise there are better options here for much less money. read more

Lodging accommodations are probably the most important part of travel to me and Mountain Thunder Lodge did not disappoint. I booked over the phone with Emily and the process was so smooth and she was so warm and engaging. She even called me back later to clarify a question I asked in our earlier conversation. I spoke with Rick later on the phone and then eventually checked in with him, and he was very knowledgeable and was able to answer even more questions that I had. We booked a townhome and it was not only beautiful, but also very clean. I thought their COVID protocol was better or comparable to the best that I've seen during the pandemic. The town of Breckenridge is very cute and I felt safe and welcome there. read more

Stayed here over Labor Day Weekend 2017 with a group of 5 (two couples and a 1 year old). We had a condo on the top floor of the main lodge - same building as the front desk. Our unit was perfect size and worked out very well. The view up the Mountain was beautiful! Condo: The condo itself was very clean and had just about everything we needed - they even had humidifiers in the closets (which we definitely needed). Beds were comfortable, too. We asked for a pack n play for the baby - it was brought up very quickly and set up. We also called for a highchair and it was brought very quickly, too. Everyone at the resort that we had contact with was very friendly and accommodating. ONLY complaint was the lack of AC - it was 80's during the day and the condo remained very warm at all times. Being right above the front desk, we did find it loud at times as people were coming and going, but nothing too obnoxious. The parking below is a little tight.. if you have a large vehicle, it is a little precarious. Also, if the building is full.. parking is usually full, too. Lodge: Location is very convenient - short walk from Main Street. There is a tunnel for you to access to cross the road, which is nice! The main lobby has a coffee and tea station, but they also sell beer and wine right there, too. convenience! :) One thing that I felt really shows how guest centered this place is was the fact that they had a HUGE pump bottle of sunscreen in the Lobby (and a nice, natural brand, too!) available for guests to access. How cool is that? For those those of us that totally were oblivious to the fact that we were going to be traveling closer to the SUN, it was a much appreciated gesture. I was sad we were not able to take advantage of the pool, i heard it was awesome! All in all we had a great experience at Mountain Thunder and we hope to visit again in the future! read more

I really liked the Mountain Thunder Lodge. It is Ski In (not really Ski Out, but the BreckConnect is more than walkable). We stayed in the 1105/1106 Suite and it is well worth it! Great room, great staff, and overall fantastic experience. There are three hot tubs around the property and when they say 'hot' tub, they mean HOT. We had to jump in the snow once or twice to cool off. In ski towns, you really do 'get what you pay for', and Mountain Thunder is no exception. If you are staying for a while, it's a destination vacation, spend the extra and have a true "vacation". The lodge has a shuttle service, so if you go out, drink a little too much, they will come retrieve you. This is well worth it. The Mountain Thunder is more than just a cool name, it's a cool place. read more

We stayed here this past weekend and the whole staff was so accommodating! We had a 3 bedroom townhouse and it was perfect for our extended family. There was plenty of space in the common areas, a kitchen with enough utensils to make pretty much anything you wanted with, and puzzles, tv, books, and other things to keep you busy when the weather dips just a little too low for us Texans. We also loved that there was a free shuttle to town and we were also able to use the private bowling alley at the Ski Hill Lodge. It's such a great, scenic location! read more

I traveled with my family to Breckenridge for a week long trip. We decided to stay at the Thunder Mountain Lodge because it was in close proximity to the slopes/gondola and the town. Overall it was a great relaxing stay and I would come back here again. Staff was nice, the courtesy shuttle was very convenient and it was easy to navigate. However, there were a couple short comings over the course of the stay. To begin with we rented a lodge/house for the week. We were looking to rent a car from the airport for the two hour drive here (from Denver) and back and use it to allow us to go out and explorer ourselves. However we were told that parking was $30/day. We ended up getting a driver to take us to the lodge and when we got there we found out we had a two car garage in our lodge... something we had no idea we knew about. Secondly, we stayed in a unit that is owned and rented to vacationeers. There is usually no problem with this since people care for their unit and they have house keeping services. This was not the case for us. The cooking utensils were disgusting, and the teflon pan was so badly damaged the, teflon coating was found in our eggs. On top of these short comings, the house keeping service sometimes switched out our towels and sometimes didn't and there is major mold growth in the upstairs bathroom window. Overall, I would recommend this place to my friends, but I would hope in the future the facilities remain a little cleaner. read more

The worst hotel I've stayed at in forever. Biggest problem - no hot water and they didn't fix it. One measure of a place is not how well it runs most of the time, but what happens when things go bad. We've stayed here before and always liked it. But this time we hit some problems. It's me, my wife, and 3 adult age daughters (ie we need room). We rented a 3 bedroom townhouse arrived and one of the rooms stunk of cigarette smoke. They should have caught it but this can happen. So we call the front desk and the first tell us that they're full and so we have to make due with the room (and waking up each morning with an awful throat). After 5 minutes of discussions they state that well, they do have 1 room in the main hotel and we can all double up in there. After an additional 10 minutes of discussion they admitted that they had a second available room. In other words, they had decent space (not quite as big or nice as the townhouse) and did not want to let us use it but would rather have kept those rooms empty. The arrangement was 2 days in the hotel and then they would move us to a townhouse that opened up (we were fine with staying in the hotel, this was at TMLs request). We were then told we had to move out of the one room at 11:00am and then could move in to the townhouse at 4:00pm. So in the middle of our vacation we were going to have 5 hours in the middle of the day with no room. Another 5 minute discussion and they "discovered" that the townhouse we were moving into was empty and therefore we could move across immediately. (I wonder if it had been empty both days and they could have had us there the whole time.) So again, while they could have made the move immediate when they told us the unit we were switching to, for some reason (stupidity?, laziness?) they were going to leave us without a unit in the middle of the day when it was totally unnecessary. All good now - right? Nope. We go to shower that night and find that we have no hot water. I call the front desk and he tells me that they have no engineer they can call off hours. Imagine coming back from a day of skiing, you're cold, you want to rest under a hot shower - and you have to wait till the next morning. And then in the morning the engineer who will "be there at 8:00" showed up after 9:00. He went and checked the boilers (for 5 additional units here too) and found them off. He cycled them on and called the boiler repair person. So once again, no interest in resolving a problem quickly. At least in this case I can understand the rationale - they save a bit of money by waiting till the next morning. All the people in the 5 units are left unable to shower one night and the next morning - but they saved probably $100.00 in an off hours visit by someone who could turn the boilers on. If everything goes right, this is a nice place. If things go wrong, you are so screwed as they won't even help where they can do so at no cost or extra effort. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Mountain Thunder Lodge last December. It was my first trip to Breckenridge, and I was not disappointed. The MTL is located just a short 5min walk to the Gondola which takes you up to Peak 8. Having never been to Breck, or skiied before I had a lot of questions and anxiety before this trip. I called the MTL to ask which ski school I needed to contact for reservations. They provided me with the information I requested which was very helpful. Upon arrival the Bryce, the gentleman at the front desk, asked us a few questions and had us checked in with room keys in hand in a matter of minutes. We were tired after a long day of traveling and just wanted to pick up a few groceries and a quick dinner somewhere. Bryce gave us great suggestions for restaurants and hours of operation for the market/liqour store/etc. We stayed in a one bedroom condo located in the main building. It was well appointed and all the appliances and furnishings were up to date. The kitchen had EVERYTHING we needed- pots/pans, nice dishes and silverware/toaster/microwave/coffee maker/even wine glasses and corkscrew! We loved using the fireplace to keep us warm when we were relaxing on the couch after a long day of skiing. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. We loved the fact that there is an electronic safe in the closet that we could keep my engagement/wedding bands and iPad in while we were on the slopes. There was a cute balcony with two chairs and a small table which we used only to cool off on after working up a sweat putting all of our ski gear on. The hotel is advertised as ski in/gondola out. However, due to the La Nina weather pattern there wasn't much snow the first week of December. Due to this fact, less than 20% of the ski runs were open (including the one that you could ski straight to the hotel). They also have a place to store ski equipment and a heated parking garage. We did not use either so I can't comment . I loved the friendliness of the staff, the convenience of the daily shuttle service, and the location. MTL is a WINNER and I will be back! read more

My husband and I stayed here over labor day weekend for a wedding-- we loved our room! I woke up each day to this. They should really have quiet hours. I'd stay here again :) read more

I stayed here due to an event/conference taking place in the Lodge & boy was I glad I did. My room (with full kitchen) was very clean, very spacious and very nicely decorated. The view out the windows & on the patio were awesome. The wifi was very fast & reliable. The shower took a while to get warm in the morning, but that is probably the only criticism I have - oh, it would be nice if the hotel had a power outlet near one or two parking spaces in the basement so I could charge my Volt. The staff were all super friendly and eager to help in any way. It is only a short walk to Main St. I am sure there are cheaper places to stay in Breckenridge, but perhaps not many nicer than here. read more

It's Memorial Day in Breckenridge...The sun is shining, the shops and restaurants are bustling with business, and the family walks down from Mountain Thunder Lodge a short 5 minute walk for breakfast. The location of this lodge is perfect for wandering town and taking in the culture of Breck. Even the "aging" members of the family were making the walk to and from the lodge with ease. The heated garages would be ideal for winter, and the rooms were sized GENEROUSLY. Which comes in handy when someone gets sick and you need to quarantine in one of the two bedrooms off of the common living/dining/kitchen room. That happened. The sweet petite balcony with a view of town was making us feel guilty for not getting out of the room and exploring in the sunshine..which was hard to do when you felt like you wanted to make a "Staycation" happen out of this place. Great rates for a Holiday weekend, easy check in/out, friendly staff, all the common amenities you need whether its VAcation or STAYcation. read more

We stayed here for Easter 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was my husband, myself my seven-year-old and my 2 1/2 year old . We had a two bedroom condo in the number five buildings which was close to the pool and 2 warm hot tubs. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The condo kitchen was well stocked and we loved that there were three showers in the two bathrooms. You can shuttle or take a pedestrian bridge to the condo or jaywalk across a busy road. You can ski to the main lodge to 4 o'clock road ski run. I booked through Expedia and sort of wish I hadn't. I found Expedia's description of the room and resort fees misleading. The only drawback of the room is the DVD players didn't work very well. We stayed here for 5 days/4 nights. Great location right by town, rooms are clean and spacious and housekeeping is great. Front desk was limited is suggestions on activities; called on 2 occasions requesting suggestions on activities to do at night with kids and while it was raining, both times they had no suggestions. Traffic noise at night was extremely loud. Pool was basic, slightly heated and dirty. All in all this resort is a good value, but with a family it is absolutely not a inclusive resort for fun, particularly during the summer when it rains. You do have access to some of the resorts higher on mountain which seem to have more activities within their properties. A big benefit is it is lower on the mountain for altitude sickness, and I believe would be ideal for a winter trip. read more

Great location! It was easy to walk into town and get to everything we needed including a grocery store without having to get the car out, which was exactly what we wanted. We rented two condos, a three and a two bedroom. Both had great loaded kitchens, two bathrooms, multiple showers, comfortable beds, 8 person dining tables and nice living rooms. Check in was easy, the garage was nice for parking. It was nice having some hotel amenities like coffee, buying some drinks/medicine, and partial maid service. We did family pictures while there and there were some beautiful locations right there. My only complaint was renting places can be confusing since they individually owned and in some ways, it works like a hotel and in other ways, it does not. read more

Husband had to visit Breckenridge for business so I tagged along. The drive from Denver is gorgeous, breathtaking and at times nerve wracking if it is snowing. Arrived at the lodge. Underground parking: sweet. This property is lovely. The trees are gorgeous. The staff is friendly. My husband and I commented all the way to the room how charming it was and how the rustic decor was tasteful. We arrived at room 1214 on the end of the 2nd floor. Upon entry, everything was lovely. Decor was inviting and the rooms were very large. The bedroom was a good size. We liked it. I am giving 2 stars for two reasons. 1) The large shower in room 1214 had what appeared to be black mold at the base which made me avoid it completely. The bathroom was large and there was a separate bath/shower combo, so luckily I did not have to use the scary looking shower. Also their bath products are tired. Mountain Spa products in black tubes that look as if they've been used and reused. Several of them were open at the seam??? Weird. 2) The bed was HORRIBLE. It was lumpy and soft and neither my husband nor I got a good night's rest. The couch was slightly more comfy but not much. This is why I chose to leave even though my husband asked me if I wanted to stay an extra night. I did not. I couldn't get home to my bed fast enough. I suppose the fire alarm at midnight did not help my sleep either, but they would do well to invest in new mattresses. I would visit the Westin's online shop. They sell good ones. read more

It was a nice lodge with a very friendly staff. It is not a 5 star facility, maybe 4 at best. It is not worth the premium in lodging fees, based on stays at other ski in ski out properties in Breckenridge. It is a very nicely decorated but not worth a premium. The kitchen is not outfitted well for those who want to make their own coffee and dinners = the toilet paper is like sandpaper - European style for sure. There was only elevator for the staff and guests and it was very slow. let me tell you, planning a wedding when you're 1000 miles away isn't always easy. my husband and i were recently married in breckenridge and this was the hotel that i chose for us and our guests to stay at...sight unseen. thankfully, this place did not disappoint. it's a beautiful property in an excellent location. it's close to the center of town, yet it manages to be secluded and quiet at the same time. the rooms were incredibly clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable. the views were outstanding: our room overlooked the pool and the top of peak 8. the staff was very helpful and accommodating, plus the catering and events manager was easy to work with and gave us a decent group rate. we stayed here in june, so i didn't get to take advantage of the ski in/ski out conveniences, but this winter i will definitely be back. read more
