Stayed here February 4th with my wife. OMG it is awesome. Be sure to read the one star reviews -…read morethat is the reason I stayed here!! TODD & TAMERA are just good down to earth folks. Accommodating, friendly and the food in the AM is perfect. I am a fussy eater and Tamera did it all with a smile, her food was tasty, healthy and just perfect. The place is like a home, very neat, clean and put together well. If you are not into that then maybe not for you. The big kitchen is use for all and a fridge to share. I came with food and it all worked nicely after the slopes on a long day. Gave recommendations and directions to good spots. Thanks to TODD & TAMERA. Steve and Kim. We will be back!!

I hate giving 1 star reviews but I don't recommend this spot to anyone. We stayed here because it…read morewas the cheapest spot in Avon (at almost $300 a night) and I had points to use. I didn't read into the reviews on Expedia and only looked at the overall rating which was a mistake on my end. I honestly don't even care about the political views of Todd and Tamara being displayed everywhere or the gun safe etc. The place is simply just a bad vibe. The moment you walk in, you feel like you're intruding into someone's home. It doesn't feel welcoming. They make you take off your shoes as soon as you walk in and put on "house shoes" aka Crocs from their collection. It is strange considering it wasn't even ski season or raining. There is a huge shrine of pictures of Todd meeting random "people of influence" above the sofa we had to sit at. A lot of signs with instructions like not to touch the crystal glasses in their glass cabinet. The check in process they take you into an office and it takes a long time compared to normal hotels. They make you sign a waiver with a lot of contingencies. Our check in process took about 30 minutes. Tamara had given our room to someone else and wasn't sure which room was ours or where she put them. Her way to take our credit card for incidentals was to write it down on a sticky note and leave it on the desk in her office where her and her husband check people in at the same time. One of the rules besides having to wear the shoes they provide is absolutely no food or drink in your room. You can keep it in the communal kitchen, but we didn't feel comfortable with other people having access to our food and drink. With all of the rules, it makes you feel like you must be being surveilled the entire visit. As others have mentioned, there are also creepy mannequins around that add to the bad vibes. Rooms are dated. We chose to skip breakfast because the vibes were so strange and uncomfortable for both of us, including my boyfriend who is super chill and I have never seen him be put off by strangers or an environment EVER. This place gave him a visceral reaction. Read the owners responses to reviews on Google if you want a feel for the vibes/attitude him and his wife emanate. We saw a couple that checked in with us checking out the next day, though they had originally planned to stay three nights. Also, the "Mountain View" rooms do not have a view to any mountains. This spot is in the heart of Avon.

Lionshead Inn - My home away from home for holidays.

(Though, worth noting, there is a 'public' shower for guest use in the Annex... more on that later). We requested an early check-in (normal time is 4pm) and were able to get in before noon - nice! The main building includes a basement room for ski/snowboard storage with lockable lockers (bring your own locks). Our room included a mini-fridge with broken ice maker, a TV with a remote that was only usable to change channels, and climate control that only included electric baseboard heat. The bed wasn't very comfortable, and we didn't see any opportunities to enjoy cookies or breakfast... maybe our timing was off? Employees were very helpful. We were able to store our luggage after check-out (11am) while we went boarding, and would have been able to use the Annex shower had I not hurt my knee and put a premature end to our last day on the mountain. Strange that the Inn has both a bar and a restaurant that appear not to be used anymore... though there is a pretty nice hot tub that was frequently used. All in all, Lionshead Inn is somewhat of a relic, but it's cheap and it's in town. For that reason, it met my expectations even though it was far from posh. If you're in the market for luxury, this is not the place for you.

Update: Alright, clearly I wrote my review a day early. and I understand how it could seem like I'm ganging up with other reviewers, but the customer service at this hotel is hands down the worst I have ever experienced in any capacity at any type of business. Clearly, the customer is not always right with these imbeciles (to put it mildly). We were told that our room would be changed after a night in the wrong reservation (giving us two beds instead of one for the four people in our group). After skiing for the day, we got back to the hotel and called the front desk to get the new room. The attendant, Shane, told us it was "a little late in the game" for that. Seriously? After that comment, Shanes eventual solution for the situation was to make us go to another hotel. With just a few hours before bedtime and an early depature in the morning, it wasn't worth the effort. When told the hotel would be receiving a less than positive review, Shane was dismissive and clearly did not give a shit about his tenants. Terrible service, several instances of broken or unusable equipment/amenities, and that all pretty much cancels out the advantegeous location. Do not stay here. Whatever more you have to spend at the next cheapest hotel in the area (granted, nothing is cheap here), it will definitely be worth the extra money. And Shane, enjoy your miserable time at the front desk until this dump is torn down in a couple months.

Maybe that's their goal, maybe they don't have high enough margins to remodel given the inevitable non-season drop in income. Who knows. I stayed for one night at the tail end of a ski trip because I needed to be near Eagle for an early morning flight, but can't imagine staying for any extended period.

I got to my room #321 the carpet is tearing near the sink, the plugs are away from the walls, the wallpaper is peeling on every room, the bathroom door would not close due to the enormous crack across the back, there was a door knob hole in the bathroom wall, and when I took a shower there was a bandaid up on top of the shower curtain rod. It was disgusting!!! I hope my company never sends me back to this location at this hotel. The room was terrible. Breakfast was pretty good for hotel breakfast, coffee was decent.

The Charter - Charter Lobby

The Charter

(28 reviews)

$$$

The Charter is in a good size condo building so it took a while figuring out the layout.  We had a…read moretwo bedroom condo with view of the mountains, nicely decorated, although the living/dining/kitchen area is not the most spacious - a bit tight with 4 people sharing.  However one good thing is both bedrooms are nice - most two bedrooms condos tend to favor the master bedroom but here the second bedroom has two comfortable double beds instead of tiny twins (although the master does have glass doors opening directly onto the balcony). Aside from the full kitchen there is also a washer and dryer, a wood burning fireplace.   Only thing is the lighting is rather old fashioned and dim. Bathroom area has 2 sinks outside the toilet/shower room and a walk-in closet. The foyer is a bit tight - it basically can't quite accommodate all the gears for four people. Amenities are good - spa with well equipped gym, narrow but long indoor swimming pool for lap swimmers (large outdoor pool too but closed in winter) and 3 hot tubs (one not in use when we were there).  One thing to note - pool and hot tubs have a ton of chlorine in them - steam from the hot tubs will make your eyes sting and if swimming laps goggled are a must or you'd suffer unpleasant vision problems afterwards - it's alarming when everything you see has a halo for hours. Good common areas - seating in both the lobby and lower lobby as well as at various points along the hallways. The Charter is not at slope side or in the BC village.  It's a 5-10 minute walk to the village with shops and restaurants, Centennial/Strawberry or you can take the free Charter shuttle running every 15-20 min. The backside of the building connects to a ski-way which leads to the Elkhorn lift - you just have to walk down 39 steps after exiting from the game room in LL. If you choose to ski back by way of the Ski-way opposite the Strawberry lift that's 39 steps you will need to climb up (it's not that bad).  There is also the Charter Ski-way that'll bring you back to just across the road from the front of the main entrance. Service seems to be good - we had a few minor problems and one phone call and someone always comes right away.  Housekeeping is about every three days but again if you need anything you can call anytime.  We didn't have any bathrobes in the condo when we arrived but they brought them as soon as we called. The restaurant in the building serves a daily buffet breakfast ($28), happy hour and dinner (except Mon-Tues When we were there). There is outdoor ski storage units both in the front and back of the condo. No individual ski locks but the units have doors that are locked at night.

Sleep quality was incredible and the space had many personal touches that made it livable. The hotel has great amenities including a Peloton bike, sauna/steam rooms, and indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs. The hotel is ski-in-ish and for getting up to the resort you can use the app or the personal shuttle unique to this hotel. Hotel layout is extremely confusing, other guests seemed to be borderline abusive toward staff. No other complaints.
