Very quaint hotel! We booked the double bed room with the pet friendly accommodation. The room was not huge but a fairly ordinary size for a hotel. The bathroom seemed to be newly renovated and the room itself was very clean. The staff was also very helpful and kind. Would definitely recommend staying for a night or 2!

One of the best places I have ever stayed! It is located in a small, historic old town with the friendliest people. The architecture on the outside is so neat. The check-in area also serves as a mini convenience store, which is really neat. They have everything there, including ice cream for those late night cravings. The guy checking us in was super friendly and explained everything in detail from how to access wifi, to where we should grab dinner. On the check-in desk was a free booklet explaining the history of Red Cliff and some historic sites to visit (with a map). We walked the town looking at everything from an old funeral parlor to a converted church. Everywhere we went, the townsfolk waved and said hi. It felt very welcoming. We walked to our room, which was on the third floor. It has a wrap-around porch, so from any room, you can see a view of the town. The room door has a keypad to access the room instead of a key/card. Our room itself was so beautiful. There were 2 queen beds that had down feather pillows and super soft sheets. It was very clean and very modern. The bathroom was stunning and had all of the amenities. It had everything from a sewing kit to lip balm. The room had its own thermostat, which was a nice change instead of just having the option of turning it from low to high, you could actually adjust it to any temperature. Everything worked perfectly in the room and the stay was comfortable. We will definitely be returning!

The hummingbirds and small animals were so fun to watch during our breakfast. The cabin is located right on the highway and gave us easy access. I would definitely stay here again if we get back to this area.

Absolutely terrible experience! We rented the Zuni cabin for a 3-night stay in Jan '23. When we…read morearranged for the rental we told Paul B., the owner/manager, that we would be arriving very late, around midnight. We were sent directions and instructions for getting into the cabin. That all worked great. However, when we entered the cabin, it was VERY cold, about 42 degrees F. We spent almost an hour trying to get the heat on. The instruction book said to turn the dial on the individual electric heaters to the right, clockwise. They were already turned up and the heaters were barely warm to the touch. We tried turning the dial to the left and the heaters went cold. So, we turned the dials back to the right and tried to start a fire (at 1AM, after a long day of travel). The only way to get a fire to stay lit was to leave the door of the wood stove open, which is not safe to do. Every time we closed the door the fire went out, despite how open or closed the air vent was on the stove. We finally gave up and found extra blankets and put on long underwear and fleece and tried to sleep. After about 5 hours of shivering in bed, we got up (the temperature in the cabin was up to a balmy 52) and made arrangements to stay at the Delaware Hotel in Leadville for the next 2 nights. We called Paul and told him of the heat problem and that we were checking out that morning. We later received an email from Paul apologizing for the problem with the heat and that a full refund would be made. He asked that we provide our CC number so he could process the refund. I called Paul several days later (when we returned home from the trip) to give him our CC information. Paul was very agitated and said he did not have a paper and pen to write it down and that I would have to call him later. The next time I called Paul, he did not answer, so I left a voice mail with my number; Paul never returned my call. The next day, my wife called Paul and he told her that same thing he told me, that he did not have a paper and pen to write with and she would have to call back another time. Paul did call her back later that day and left a message to call with the CC information so he could process the refund. I returned Paul's call about a half hour later and this is where it got interesting. Paul started the conversation by telling me there was nothing wrong with the heat and he couldn't help it if we did not know how to turn on an electric heater. He then told me it was not the policy to issue refunds. (This is after several times offering to refund and about 2 weeks time). Paul became very agitated and argumentative, telling me I was a "d*ck" (slang word for part of the male anatomy) because I didn't know how to turn on the heater in the cabin. After that, every time I tried to say something, Paul would interrupt me and start rambling. After being interrupted 5-6 times, I asked Paul if he was going to allow me to finish a sentence, he responded by asking if I would let him finish a sentence. (I felt like I was arguing with a 10-year-old). He then called me a "d*ck" a second time. Eventually, Paul took our CC information and said he would process a refund. So far, the refund has not happened so we initiated a dispute with our CC company with the email and voice mail we have from Paul claiming he would give us a refund.

But....the kitchen in our unit was impossibly small. We thought that was how they all were, until we saw others and discovered that it was only this one particular unit (Lakawanna 1B). No exaggeration, there was not more than 1 person able to be in the entire kitchen at the same time. The second we put 2 people in there to expedite breakfast, we accidentally broke a glass. And of course, felt awful about it! There is a nice area between the cabins for playing horseshoes or other outdoor games, but the weeds are so high that it makes for a challenging game when people are not wearing long pants, as the children in our group did not like to. Also, we discovered that other cabins had very nice back decks with tables to encourage eating outdoors. Ours had a large front deck, with just some dusty plastic chairs. Positives were the amazing view, the ability to get our large group all lodged nearby one another, the comfortable beds, large bathrooms, and the fact that we did not have to put a hefty deposit down. Overall, this resort is fine and I would stay there again - but I would be certain to select one of the other cabins that would allow more space for cooking and family time.

The rooms' cinderblock walls might remind you of your college dormitory days... or that time you were in jail. Everything is brown and it's not luxury. But, it's cheap! Minutes before the police came knocking on the door, the boyfriend was overheard saying "Baby, let me in. I've got something for you. Come on baby! There are cops roaming around." Before we even got to the room, we got lectured by some guy who must live in one of the rooms. He bitched about what we were bringing in and went off on some insurance rant about how people like us cost the owner a fortune. I'm sure a door would be a fortune to the owner since the bathroom didn't even have one. Fortunately for us, we just got notice that the freeway opened, so we went back to the front desk before we even stepped in the room. I asked the clerk if we could check out and get some kind of receipt to prevent further charges, but she had no clue what we were talking about. She refused to give us anything in writing, so I wouldn't be surprised to find extra charges from this shady business. After all, this whole town seems actively hostile to anyone who isn't a local. Oh, and you'll get towed if you park in half the spaces in their lot.
