    Checking in with Morty

We weren't quite sure what to expect when we booked this place considering it's a "hostel" and hotel in one. After booking a micro room, I realized it had a Twin XL which wouldn't work for my tall husband and myself, so we upgraded to the private room with a queen - this ended up being a full mattress sitting on a queen frame, but we made it work. The front desk was extremely friendly (the humans AND the canines) and super helpful in accommodating our requests for extra pillows. We checked in early and set out to explore, coming back to a bed full of those extra pillows. Our room was very clean - you could tell they had just cleaned it and the smell was slightly overpowering. We wish the windows were able to open, but after leaving the door open with a fan, it seemed to air out pretty well. The bathroom was WAY larger than some of the pictures we saw, but there are plenty of common bathrooms down the hall if needed that were also spotless. The bar was our favorite part, and our bartender Jess made our experience what it was. When we got rained inside, we spent the afternoons and evenings playing cards at the bar, enjoyed trivia on Wednesday night, and had a blast chatting with Jess every evening. They have a wide variety of taps (wish there were more cider options, but there was something for everyone still) and mixed drinks as well. The location is directly next to the river and with a beautiful view of the mountains. We're counting down until next year when we can go back for an even longer vacation! LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

Awesome hot tub with great Mountain View's

I almost don't want to post this in hopes of keeping this place a secret but I need to share. We had the most amazing 2 days here. They have thought of everything!! We come to the mountains often and we always struggle with where to stay. We wanted somewhere conveniently located to the mountains & a grocery and affordable and we sure found it!! From booking to check out they made everything extremely easy. We arrived with little expectations and were blown away. When we walked in we were greeted by the friendliest front desk staff who showed us to our room & around the Pad. We were so excited to see they had a large hot tub (with an amazing view), a gear room for our skis (what!!! How awesome!), and a fully stocked kitchen for us to use. The Pad is clean & the vibes are right. We were blown away when we opened the door to our room. The bed was comfy & the room well decorated with so many little well thought out features. This room was so practical for our adventures. We were thrilled to find out they had upgraded us for no reason. The room is equipped with USB wall chargers, which I always feel is a treat, a large TV, coffee maker, and ours had a mini fridge. Across the board, the Pad goes the extra mile. From a wood key card, to art on the wall for sale by local artists, to the soaps by a company donate soap to those in need, the Pad deserves every bit of the 5 stars. I didn't grab a drink at the bar, but we did play games in the lounge. The culture here is different. We met the kindest, most interesting people while cooking, playing games, and hanging in the hot tub. If you plan to go solo, with a group of friends, or your partner this place is perfect!! The staff is great! So helpful, so personable and everyone makes you feel so welcome. We even got a tour of the event space. Definitely a place to keep in mind for any future events as well!!

The Pad is geared towards community and socializing. The common areas are well decorated with artwork and comfy furniture to compensate for the tiny rooms. There are also scheduled nightly activities such a trivia night and local music as well as a food truck. The bar is the main attraction and no outside beverages are allowed. We got a bunk room for two and it was freezing cold the first night. And the night clerk was of no help. The top bunk got the all the heat while the bottom was a cave. I didn't sleep a wink. Luckily at shift change, another lady got us a space heater and that was an easy fix. We did have to crank up the heat to 82 still. Also, the shades are not black out. I think the best feature was the rooftop hot tub.

Stayed over NYE weekend & already want to plan another trip back at The Pad! Check in was seamless and we haven't had any issues with parking. There was a text message service where you could ask any questions from location time/how to adjust the temperature in your room and it was extremely responsive & helpful. My boyfriend and I stayed in a micro room - with shared restrooms and it perfectly suited our needs. They had a separate storage area for our ski gear. Since it was NYE, they had facilitated some events & our room was next to it - and the sound never bothered us. It was great to see the community building & the entire lobby and common areas are decorated beautifully. Everything was clean and the staff is so kind. Definitely consider staying here if you're looking for an affordable and unique experience for your mountain get away.

She twisted the truth by labeling a victim--who was defending his rights under Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-1-704.5 and demanding to call the police--as an 'aggressor,' while shamelessly describing the hoodie-wearing trespassers as 'victim teenager guests.' This is a total fabrication. She bullied real customer as a foreigner who didn't know local laws. Check in was a breeze as the team reached out ahead of our arrival to confirm when we'd get there. With their app I could even store my room key for a digital entry (sans physical key card). How good! The exterior parking lot is small tho they do offer underground parking. The fee to park per night was $15 - which was a non negotiable since I was there with someone for their surgery. The room was spacious and very clean. Restroom/shower were also easily accessible. We had a small kitchenette with everything we needed to enjoy a snack or little meal prepared in the room. The fridge was spacious and we were able to stock up on fresh and nutritious bites at the nearby city market. Breakfast buffet was awesome and available for a few hours. While I usually opted for the oatmeal and fresh fruit and hard boiled eggs they offered so much more. DIY breakfast burritos with sausage, potatoes, scrambled eggs, cheese and various salsas. Not to mention toast, bagels, cereals, yogurt, coffee, juice, tea, etc. With your key card/digital access card you can enjoy their gym. Sparkling and clean with various cardio and weight equipment. I went down very early in the morning and someone was already there getting their sweat on. The hotel also has wheel chairs for use on site. Super helpful to get someone in the elevator and back up to the room after surgery. Overall great stay & interactions with staff who went above and beyond to make sure we're were comfortable and had everything we needed. Look forward to staying again and trying out their restaurant.

It was also nice to have the view of the lake through the window & when you walk out the door. Now, the accommodations. The room was spacious, with a kitchenette, medium sized fridge, wine opener, bottle opener, plates, cups, eating utensils, a baking pan, basic utensils & pots/pans for simple cooking & baking. When giving her the name our booking was under, she informed us that the King Bed Suite we reserved was not available due to a leak and she would be putting us in a Queen Bed instead. When my husband asked if there was a price difference for the room she confirmed that it was cheaper, but made no offer to change the charge. Further prompting her, he asked if she could apply the new lower price to our booking since we were not getting what we paid for originally. All of a sudden, she hesitated, looked like she had been caught in a lie and then said in barely above a whisper "okay, I will give you a King room" and handed us our keys. This was extremely odd and we were very confused as to what just happened and why we were trying to be pushed into a Queen room instead of a King without a fair price adjustment when they did indeed have an available room. The interaction unfortunately gave us a weird sense that something shady just occurred. The poor star rating is mainly due to this unfortunate interaction. As we went to our room, there was an unpleasant mildew odor from the elevator to halfway down the hallways - assuming this is from the supposed leak problem they were dealing with. It thankfully did not reach our room. The room was standard and clean with lots of lights and a good view of the parking lot with mountains in the background. Personally, we like being able to have an eye on our car and a scenic view so this was perfect. The bed was comfortable, the carpet was on the thinner side, the bathroom came with a very limited amount of amenities (2 bars of soap, shampoo and conditioner), microwave needed to be plugged in and the coffee maker came with 2 year old expired packets. The room is not equipped to do anything more than microwave a snack or refrigerate leftovers. There are lots of good dining options around the local area either within walking distance or a short drive away. The max rate this Comfort Suites states they can charge is $999/night, which, if they weren't located in a great place to get to the ski slopes, is honestly pretty ridiculous for such an average stay. Overall, it's fine for what it is, but don't expect much. We didn't stop to have the included breakfast in the morning as we were ready to get out of there, but they do have a large dining area for you to eat your meal there.
