Fireside inn was a GREAT find. I was coming in late (8p) and leaving early ish (7:30a) so really I just wanted a safe place to shower and sleep. I found fireside online and it was by far the most affordable option in Breckenridge for a single night so I went for it in a two person dorm, and luckily I happened to be the only one in that room that night! The room was definitely snug but it was cozy and very comfortable and I slept very well. Finding the place was also very easy, they provide very clear instructions and there is plenty of parking at the church across the street (just mind their specific parking instructions and you won't have any trouble). Re: the interior: it's actually a very large place with two full baths and one half bath. I never even saw/heard another guest when I came but again it was late. The vibe was that it was a very comfy, chill place - they have soothing music playing over by the office door where the coffee/tea machines are, and there is a small kitchen and living room area. They had a real fire going in the living room area and there were games and books and lots of "things to do" brochures around, so truly it felt like being in a cozy cabin. I genuinely really loved that vibe. Not to mention it's quite close to the main road - you could easily walk but because it was raining heavily the night I came, I did drive all of 3 minutes to avoid walking 15 in the rain to the bar on Main Street I wanted to go to. They also sent me a text when i came in case i had questions, so they are available to help you. Overall - if you're coming and staying here for just a night or two and all you need is a bed/shower/safe space, this place is GREAT. Admittedly the rooms aren't big (at least mine wasn't), but again as a solo traveler it was fine. Would def rec to friends :) read more

Cozy, relaxing, charming stay in the Backcountry Suite. The decor is crisp and uncluttered. The brand-new bed is amazingly comfortable, but so is the trundle Daybed with tons of pillows -- easy to collapse onto after brisk walks in the chilly Breck air! Sturdy, grated outside steps lead to this suite, for safe access and for privacy. The location is unbeatable, just a 3-block walk to town and to all of the shops and restaurants. The "Free Ride" city bus stops in front of the Fireside Inn, and can take you to the Gondola and Breck Station, if you don't feel like making the 7-minute walk. [Tip: Epic Mountain Express shuttle vans from the airport can drop you directly at the Fireside Inn!] Our host Madi communicated beautifully before and during our visit. My wife and I really enjoyed our weekend getaway at Fireside Inn. Check-in/out was entirely electronic, and the owners checked in with us via text after our first night. We stayed in the Backcountry room, giving us a suite to ourselves and--unexpected bonus--our own private entrance. At night, the space was very quiet, and we had no trouble sleeping in the cozy king-size bed. (The bathrobes they provided were a nice touch.) The location is walking distance from downtown Breck, hiking trails, and the ski hill. Parking is convenient. And the coffee was good. Enjoy your stay! read more

Took a zero day here while hiking the CT. Had to adjust my reservation details while on the trail and Madi and Jonah were quick to respond over text and very understanding and flexible. I ended up upgrading from a dorm to a private room/bath and it was so worth the price difference (plus you get a voucher for a local coffee spot, Cuppa Joe). Check in was very simple and contactless. We spent two nights in the back country suite and absolutely loved it! It is so cute, well decorated, and has its own private use of the hot tub. I had to take one star off because the hot tub was more like a cold tub... it had lukewarm water :-( Fireside Inn is in a very good location with an easy walk to downtown. Perfect for what we were looking for! I have never been to Colorado and went to visit my sson. We decided to hang out in Breckenridge and booked the Fireside Inn. What a perfect spot for us. My friend and I shared a bunk bed room and he (20 yrs) stayed in one of the dorm rooms. While we were there, he met snowboarders from Australia and had a great time out on the mountain with them - immediate cameraderie to be sure. This gave my friend and I plenty of time to eat, drink and shop. Everything is within walking distance and we did more than our fair share of each! There is not a ton of night life in Breckenridge, but we were okay coming back to the Fireside and hanging out. Bathrooms are shared, which takes a little getting used to and the rooms are very small. That being said, I cant imagine anything more reasonably priced or conveniently located in Breck. I'd suggest bringing a towel, wash cloth and hand towel, altho a towel is provided. Also remember toiletries (soap, shampoo, tissue). We will be returning for future visits! read more

My gf and I spent four days in the Backcountry Suite. Carey and Marci were wonderful hosts. They made yummy fresh muffins for breakfast every day, and even gave us pouches of their homemade granola. This particular suite was spacious and offered us a lot of privacy. I enjoyed having our own tub and kitchenette. The location is only a 7-minute walk from a gondola that takes riders straight to the Breckenridge resort. read more

I've stayed here more than once, both in the hostel-style dorm rooms and private room (sweetheart room with my wife), most recently. Niki & Andy are both very friendly, hospitable and professional. You'll be looking forward to breakfast in the mornings, and the coffee is not just acceptable - its GOOD (via french press). Tea also available. Everything here is clean and tidy. I noticed there are more signs now than during previous stays, but they all relate to basic common courtesy and manners. Evidently some people need it in writing. We stayed at Fireside for three nights and chose the Hunter room. We needed something with a little more space as there was my husband, myself and our 18 month old toddler. This room was perfect for what we needed. It was nice to have our own space and we also loved being able to mingle with other guests in the communal dining areas. In hotels, you just go to your room and not speak to anyone, but here, it was nice to meet other travelers and swap stories. Niki and Andy are fantastic and had great advice for all things Breck. We felt very welcomed and comfortable at Fireside. Breakfasts were delicious and there was something to satisfy everyone. We would definitely stay here again. Loved their fur-babies! read more

I stayed in the loft and it was perfect. This Inn is in a great spot in relation to downtown and you can walk just about anywhere. Breakfast was also quite delicious and the Inn is set up in a very comfortable and cozy manner. I will definitely be staying here again when I am in Breck. read more

I've been going to the Fireside for years. The hosts appear to be getting sick of the entire thing, as always happens in bed and breakfasts. Guests are a nuisance to be tolerated only because they spend money. Their endless list of rules, some published, many newly minted on the spot are an endless source of irritation and lend a truly unpleasant vibe to the entire experience. The hosts know me after years, and know that I have dietary restrictions. I asked for egg whites at breakfast and was told that I would receive fried eggs like everybody else and that I would just have to eat around the yolks. I was staying in the "loft" - their 9 bed dormitory. While napping one afternoon I placed a doorstop at the entrance to let some fresh air in. Niki, the hostess, confronted me angrily saying that the door must always be locked. In all my years staying in the loft I had never heard this rule, nor had other regulars. After these two and for other unpleasant events I expressed my displeasure to Nikki. I was thrown out the next morning. read more

A little tiresome if you're not used to the altitude and I was a little surprised at how icy the sidewalks were. Beats paying for overpriced parking at the gondola though. You can buy your passes at the gondola or Peak 8. You can get to all of the other peaks from any and all of the Peak base lodges. Then, when you return after a day of skiing, why would you want to stay on the mountain anyway? All the fun stuff happens downtown, which is another short walk from the Inn. Liquor, beer, billiards, massage, shopping, burgers, pubs, and casual/fine dining. To get to the Breckenridge Brewery on "the other side of town", we walked a short 0.6 miles. read more

Definitely, as the five star rating describes, "as good as it gets!". I stayed at Fireside Inn for three nights while in Breck and loved this place. Top notch. The owner, Niki, is fantastic. With my accommodations I received a complimentary breakfast - each evening you sign up on the list and select your breakfast request. Continental or hot breakfast (2 selections of eggs + toast, sausage, bacon, waffles, pancakes - which were divine!). There are two full bathrooms with showers and a powder room. Kitchen area with a microwave and refrigerator. Ice in the freezer. The water is delicious straight from the tap. Living room area with a fireplace, TV, two couches and several soft chairs. The bedrooms are all located in the back wing of the house, away from the bathrooms and the communal areas - which is nice. Sort of keeps your room more quiet, ya know? The only thing that I didn't love is that the jacuzzi is only open from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. That's a bit of a bummer. It's in a private room of its own and people could easily uncover/re-cover and turn on/off the jets on their own if they want to use it. But, pretty minor thing given the grand scheme, right? Location is fantastic. Right in the thick of things and pretty much walkable to any part of town. On a freezing eight degree night I walked all the way down to Park and Main. Bundle up and dress in layers and even the furthest parts of town aren't too far. Tip: take off your damn shoes, especially if it's snowy and they are all wet! There are shelves right in the entry mudroom. No one wants to walk around and get their socks wet because some jerk didn't take off their snowy boots. Be respectful. I would leave my slippers on the shelf and put them on when I took my shoes off. In short: if ever I'm in Breckenridge again, I will for sure be staying at Fireside Inn! read more

The hostel is perfectly situated in the center of town, a block off of the main street. 2. the rooms are cheap. 3. the hostel owners are nice. 4. there is secure storage for your bikes, boards and skis. 5. there is an indoor hot tub! Cons: 1. The hostel beds are really narrow and might be uncomfortable for some. 2. There is only a microwave, so you can't do any cooking here. Overall, a great stay. I've been to many, many hostels across the world, but never have I encountered proprietors as pleasant as Andy and Niki. I really can't even begin to express how wonderful they are. The only person who couldn't have their heart warmed here would be someone who thinks Germany should have WWII, because you will find tons of photos, portraits, maps, and such depicting Britain's fighters and victory. You'll of course find lots of other interesting trinkets if you look about. The building itself is well situated for conversing with other guests, with a large common room as well as another room with a 14-person dining table. And oh you will want to converse with the other guest, because on a whole they are awesome! Many of them are return guests, so I know that it must be this good on a regular basis. It's like making instant friends. The facilities themselves are not particularly outstanding, the beds being ok, certainly not terrible, but nothing to write home about either. The showers are ok, with water pressure a bit low, but the water is hot! Things are kept quite clean as well. The hot tub is awesome, it's a 6-person tub of stainless steel over wood, and stays quite nice and hot in the sort of sauna room. It's quite deep and the jets are strong, but not overwhelming. Would have liked to be able to jump in later in the evening, perhaps they may relax that rule someday, but currently out by 8pm so the room with the private suite gets full use. The kitchen isn't for guest use, however, there is tea time at 4-5pm after skiing! Proper tea time! With cake! So good. But if you want to cook, not the best place for you, unless a microwave is all you need. Also breakfast is quaint, and quite nice. Their is a full $12 breakfast or a $6 breakfast with choice of bagel, oatmeal, or toast. I opted for the bagel, which comes with cream cheese, a small fruit cup, orange juice, and a full french-press of coffee. Perfect start to the day! Access to the building is 24-hours with your key. It's just two blocks off Main St. on Wellington & French. Everything is easily walkable. And of course the dogs! There are two dogs, one of which is Gaspod, and I believe they are both giant poodles though I'm terrible with dog breeds so don't quote me on that. If you ever get bored, just chat it up with Andy or your fellow guests, they have great stories. Such an amazing place. I don't really like Breckenridge that much, but I'd come back just so I could stay here again. read more

I spent 3 nights in late March at the Fireside Inn in a 3 BR bunk room. You get the personal touch from the owners, who take the time to show you around the quaint inn. Throw in a homemade dessert every afternoon from chef Nicki and you have a great deal at a great price. The inn's breakfasts looked great, although I made my own each AM. Short walk to the gondola or catch the blue bus right outside. I will return. read more

I stayed there during two nights in March 2010 during Springbreak. It was amazing. It's really close to everything. The hostel owners are really nice. The people there were awesome. You have space to put your ski or snowboard. The rooms are not really big but it's enough. If you're tall, be carefull the beds are really small :-) If I come back to Breck, I will definitively stay there again. read more

Awesome. Stay there. Two friends and I called last minute and they had a room available for $33/night. Our arrival time was late in the evening when they were closed, so they sent us a entry passcode for the front door and left a personalized note welcoming us with our room key. They even put a note on the room door so we could find it easily. Put shortly, the British couple running the inn is extremely friendly and goes above and beyond. The inn itself is a few minutes walk to the main street with shopping/bars/etc. The entire inn is elaborately decorated in a very quaint manner. We didn't have breakfast, so I can't speak to that. But towels are provided, as is the bedding and parking. Only downside is the beds, at least in the dorm rooms, are a bit small. They seemed 6' long exactly, so if you're very tall they may not be the most comfortable. Regardless, I would absolutely recommend the Fireside Inn to a friend visiting Breckenridge. read more

Breckenridge Welcome Center advised me to stay at this cosy lodging in downtown Breckenridge. It is a relaxed, well taken care of place, with welcoming and friendly owners that make delicious breakfast. I couldn't be happier with this recommendation and with my stay in there. The price is more than perfect regarding the location and facilities: they even have a bath-tub! They have a toaster, refrigerator and a microwave. If you buy food remember to label the bag with your name as well, so it is not taken away. The price couldn't be better for what it is offered! read more

I rarely compose reviews, mostly because I am lazy. However, the Fireside Inn deserves a 30,000-word dissertation, preferably in Iambic Pentameter, delivered in song by a flock of golden fairy princesses from the top of a shimmering mountain blanketed in diamond cream. I love this place. And I love Gaspode, one of the two resident poodles. My new husband and I came here for our Honeymoon, and it was magical. We stayed in the Hunter's Room, a charming space replete with character - a fireplace, a stunning snowy view, deer wallpaper, and mallard statuettes. In the morning, we would meander downstairs and sit at a communal wooden table in a room aglow with natural light and adorned with antique ski equipment. Nikki, the owner, cooked us breakfast, which she would serve with hot tea and French press coffee. I enjoyed chatting with her; she is genuinely hospitable and highly intelligent and probably has countless stories to tell. We were unable to ski during this trip, so she set up to go dogsledding, a childhood dream-come-true for my husband, who grew up reading Gary Paulsen novels. We were so very sad to leave. Upon our melancholy departure, Nikki gifted us with a Fireside Inn mug, from which I shall forever sip my morning tea. read more

I stayed at Fireside for 2 nights when I was thru-hiking the Colorado Trail. I stayed in 6 different hostels throughout my journey and this was one of them. PROS: super close walking distance to downtown and most amenities, very clean, free coffee (the powdered kind), excellent wifi , outlets by every bed CONS: when I asked the owners questions I felt like I was a burden, there is hardly any space to put a backpacking backpack or other items in the rooms, when I needed to organize or lay items such as a tent out to dry when I asked they were hesitant to let me and I got the feeling that they didn't want me to because it might take up to much room or it wouldn't "appropriate" in the yard, the owners seemed nice enough but had a long list of rules and seemed more concerned with keeping to their agenda and routine rather than accommodating the needs of the guests to make the stay more enjoyable read more

Great little hostel and can't beat the price/location in Breckinridge. There's ski storage, an indoor hot tub, a chill atmosphere and plenty of English humor supplied by the awesome inn keepers. There are not enough positive words in the English language to describe how great Andy and Niki are. In a town overrun with condos and resorts, they run one of the few true havens for young people on a budget. There are seven hostel beds in Breck, and all seven of them are in Andy and Niki's attic. I am hesitant to leave a review because this is the best kept secret for accommodations in breck. My girlfriend and I spent two nights here and it was wonderful. The cost was extremely affordable and location is superb. It's about a 5 minute walk with ski boots on to the Gondola and also in great proximity to all main street restaurants. the Inn keepers were wonderful people and made our stay feel so welcoming. We stayed in the dorm which I beleive has 10 beds in total. I would recommend ear plugs if you are easily awaken by snoring or talking.
