We stayed here at the Austria Haus while skiing at Vail for the weekend and really enjoyed our visit. The rooms and beds were nice and cozy with a fireplace and great views of the surrounding mountains. Austria Haus is located in Vail Village near Gore Creek and walking distance to Gondola One. This hotel has a nice European charm to it with great customer service. Some of the amenities I enjoyed were the continental breakfast, heated pool, hot tub, gym, in-room coffee, local newspaper, and the yummy cookies in the lobby. The breakfast is buffet style and pretty amazing. I had waffles, eggs, cheese, bacon with fruit, coffee and juice. The dining area was nice and spacious. If you want to dine out or go for a stroll, all the shops and restaurants in Vail Village are close by. For parking, you can either park in the nearby pubic parking or pay valet. No matter what you decide to do, plan on paying a pretty penny to park here. But other than that, everything was great and I would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Austria Haus - convenient location, decently priced and friendly people.

Incredible stay in the heart of Vail Village. Five minutes from the Vail Gondola and walking distance to anything you need! The staff was very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We plan to come back soon!

It feels like a calm, private sort of place. My family of 3 (hubby me and baby age 1) felt welcomed and relaxed while staying here. Breakfast tends to be the same variety of options plus one new thing( one day it was grapefruit another day it was veggie egg bites and bacon) . Staples are bagels, breads, waffles, boiled egg, charcuterie meats and cheeses, juices, mills, yogurts and cereals. The view is incredible from the dining area. There's a library with books and games. A small workout area. Teas and coffees offered 24/7. They valet your car and ski equipment. Kind and attentive staff who really ensure you have a positive stay! We love our room, great design and well cleaned. The heated floors are a game changer during our stay in the cold winter. I used Groupon to purchase our reservation, would do it all over again! Valet parking $50 or 55/night and resort fee $55/night that you pay when you check in.

European vibe facade...

We stayed for 2 nights during our spring break and what a great, cute, European vibe hotel this is! Right in Vail Village with easy walks to all restaurants, trails, attractions, bus stops, shops etc! Staff very accommodating and friendly... welcome and afternoon cookies were a treat! My kids love them! Included Breakfast is a good addition to our stay... would love to come back here!

Wonderful stay in a gorgeous 3 bed, 3 bath condo in the heart of Vail village. Pros: European style breakfast each morning. When staying for a week, it would be nice if they mixed up the selections a few more times. Meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, waffles and toast selections. One day we had an omelet bar!! But just one day. The rooms are gorgeous, old style Austrian. Hotel staff is super friendly and professional! Free valet parking from 6 am-11pm! Be sure to tip! Cons: Here's the only issue I had while staying here, and unfortunately there is absolutely nothing the gracious staff can do about it. At night, the outside area behind the hotel, and near the beautiful wooden bridge, becomes a haven hangout for college students and millennials who get $@#! faced and decide to yell obscenities while parading around drunk. I know, I know...I'm not "that" old but while I'm trying to sleep at 2 am and it's still going on, it becomes a major, MAJOR pain night after night!! This is unfortunate since you have to have your sliding doors open at night to get any breeze as I'm not even certain they have AC. You don't really need AC down in the valley! I wish they had some kind of noise or public drunkenness ordinance for the sake of us "old" people but I don't think there is. If you can tolerate this, you'll still love it here!

Gorgeous!

What a magical experience! We absolutely loved our stay here. The room was spacious with our own little balcony and fireplace. It was so romantic and relaxing. The bed was super comfortable. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The hot tub was wonderful and perfect for enjoying the chilly winter night. Complimentary breakfast served everyday was fantastic, location can't be beat. We will 100% return and will make this our new winter trip!

This hotel is extremely well rounded in every aspect. From the time we walked into the front lobby, all 3 employees were extremely helpful and friendly. That set off the proper mood for a great stay. We proceeded to our room and found a very spacious room with sitting area, fireplace, and large bathroom. Everything about this room was top notch. The breakfast spread is outstanding. Room service are just as friendly as the front desk staff. We were scheduled to stay 1 day and ended up staying 3 days. We will make this hotel a priority when staying in Vail. Can't beat the location either, everything is at your door step. Thanks Austria Haus for making our stay extremely enjoyable.

We did a family trip up to the mountains for a couple of days and on our way back home, we stopped by the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens because I knew my mother in-law loved flowers and I thought she would enjoy it here. We parked in the parking lot next to the big open field. Unfortunately there was an event that day and we had to pay I think $10 (can't remember the exact amount). I guess it evened out since the garden is free? Anywho, the garden was a short walk from the parking lot. It's named after the former first lady who preferred Vail as their vacation spot and helped the community flourish to what it is today. There's signage throughout the garden to read about Betty Ford, the plants, and wild life. It's a small garden, but there are plants from all over the world and we enjoyed strolling through the various paths. My mother in-law enjoyed it as well, so mission accomplished! If you're in the area and love plants and flowers, it's worth a quick stop, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

I decided to make a long past due visit to Archetype to check out their distilled spirits. In addition to their vodka and gin, they make a long list of small batch distilled spirits of various flavors. When you walk in there are a few high top tables and a long bar. My recommendation is to sit at the bar and chat with the bartenders. They are knowledgeable and will craft a cocktail based on what your favorite flavor profile is. As my friend C says, "if it's muddled N will drink it!" She's not wrong. She speaks the truth. I told the bartender that a cocktail with either the blackberry or strawberry spirits would be a great start. He mixed strawberry with their mint spirit, added soda, and ice in a tall glass. It was really refreshing. Because they have so many different flavored spirits they can craft almost anything. If you like a dirty martini, they have blue cheese and olive flavored spirits. I tasted the blue cheese spirit separately and it was hmmm...interesting by itself but mixed with the olive spirit and "ta-da!" - you've got your dirty martini. Their vodka and wine are made from wine grapes. I didn't get a chance to try either the vodka or gin this time but will definitely be back on my next ski trip to Vail. The distillery is located just a few doors down from Mountain Standard near the bridge over Gore Creek.

We visited their Vail tasting room for a cocktail class -- an activity I highly recommend.  Not only was the class a lot of fun, but it was also a great value.  It included a sampling flight, three cocktails & an hour of entertainment.  Michael is clearly passionate about the spirits he makes & the drinks they craft.  Whether you're a foodie or somebody who just loves a great cocktail, you'll enjoy the class. What I found particularly unique about Archetype's tasting room is their wide offering of house-made distillates/spirits.  They don't need a back bar full of brands that you see everywhere.  Instead, they're able to craft a custom cocktail based on the flavors you enjoy.  From familiar flavors like espresso or citrus to unique ones like blue cheese & truffles, you have the opportunity to find your own signature drink.  I tried several unique combinations & all were delicious!   In short -- from somebody who's been to a lot of distilleries -- make the time to check out Archetype.  The atmosphere was fantastic.  The drinks were delicious.  Their spirits win awards for a reason. You're sure to have a unique experience.

The ride was painfully rough. Absolutely not worth the $50 per person! Everything was dirty slush by mid-March, but the trail is more of a track, no wooded area, not really any views. The horses were absolutely miserable - dragging a loaded sleigh thru icey, muddy riches. They have a small paddock - I wouldn't even call it a pasture. We especially loved the spa and the complimentary tea service, which was such a nice touch. The front desk associate who checked us in was very kind and welcoming, and the concierge was extremely helpful and friendly, which made our arrival and stay feel very smooth and stress-free. A few small notes about the room: even though it was very cold outside, the room stayed quite warm at night and we ended up sleeping with the door cracked every evening. The vanity plug-in mirror in our room didn't work, and on the first night we placed the "no maid service" sign on the door, but housekeeping still entered and cleaned the room while we were out. Dining and service were overall great. At Bully Ranch, the hostess wasn't the friendliest, but our server was wonderful and made up for it. The staff at The King's Club were fantastic -- our waitress was from Costa Rica and was absolutely lovely. The German mulled hot wine was delicious, and her recommendation of the Tequila Mockingbird was excellent. I was hoping for a true chai latte, but the one at Trefe Café tasted more like warm milk with cinnamon rather than a traditional chai. On the positive side, the valet and room service staff were amazing, and the spa team was incredibly kind and welcoming -- they truly made the experience special. Overall, a beautiful hotel with great amenities, a perfect location, and mostly excellent service. Just a few small details to improve, but we had a very enjoyable stay.
