Beautiful couch

These people are amazing. I had a four piece living room set that has been handed down through the family. It looked like it had been mauled by coyotes by the time I decided to break down and have it reupholstered. Paulette worked with me for months while I worried over fabric choices. She was patient and sat with me multiple times, while I muddled through her fabric samples, looking at every material she had in the store. When I'd finally found my fabric, they went to work. A few weeks later I had the perfect couch and chairs It is so beautiful and the work is flawless. I can't say enough about Paulette and crew. I went from embarrassment to pride over this family heirloom.

Bench cushion. I gave them a custom-cut foam and a tablecloth from Mexico.

I've only used an upholsterer twice in my life, but this place is so good, that I want to use them more. It took them a while, but they took a textile I bought in Mexico and cut the material to make it book match perfectly across multiple bench cushions. Stellar work. Paulette was warm and gracious to visit with. Highly recommend!

Paulette and Mike do great work. I had 2 vintage kitchen chairs and 2 unusually shaped modern chairs re-upholstered and they have a whole new life... they are beautiful, see photos!

bench cushions

I could not be happier with the cushions Austin Upholstery Studio made for me. Paulette is patient, knowledgeable and most of all a really nice person to work with. She helped me realize my vision designing a L shaped dinette bench. The cushions exceeded my expectations and at a reasonable price too.

WOW WOW WOW!!! We have just recently moved to Austin and are fortunate to live just a block from Austin Upholstery Studio! We have a rocking chair that was probably dated to Early 1900's. 5 generations of babies have been rocked in this needle-pointed, small, Victorian rocker. It was my roommates' great grandmother's chair. For years the we thought the springs in the bottom were broken and then realized that the webbing and the dust cloth had just broken. I stepped into AUS and Paulette was so very kind, and authentically wanted to help. After sending pictures of the chair and repair needed, at her request I simply brought i it. Mike and Paulette both looked at it and told me all the intricate things that had been damaged and neglected over the years! Mike then took time to very carefully explain everything that would need to be done to fix the chair and the process. He also gave me a "head's up" on any possible trouble they might have in bringing the "little girl" back into shape. The more he talked to me I could envision a lists...with prices...adding up and up and up. There was soooo much more that needed to be repaired that I could NOT have done myself. Taking a deep breath...I asked the two dreaded word: " How much?' When he quoted the price I fell out! It was lower and so cost effective and fantastic that I couldn't believe my ears. I even had him repeat it. I actually started laughing. Then the second set of dreaded words: "How long?" We had had the chair for over 15-20 years..needing repair...but I was just curious. In less than 10 days the chair is repaired and gorgeous! There were NO surprise charges...they truly exceeded all expectations and I was thrilled to pick our chair up! Now, our new granddaughter will begin the 6th generation of children rocked in Granny Kate's chair. Mike , Paulette, and others there have a healing touch in resurrecting our treasures. I cannot say thank you enough to them. From the initial contact through finished work it was all a delight and a wonderful experience. These folks are experts...in every way! Use them!! and rest easy!!

Great location in So Congress. Got 4 chairs reupholstered here that were in very rough shape (7 years in a Texas attic will do that). Apart from the wood backbone, they basically had to be redone. Dropped some good money (which I'm sure was a reasonable figure for the work done) but the chairs came out so beautiful. My parents (who were storing them for me in that attic) said they looked way better than they ever thought they could. Got to provide the fabric (which was JUST enough--they managed to make it work), pick out the tacks, decide whether I wanted piping or no. They even offered to add in a quick wood refinishing at the end which I opted to do and it made the wood look like new. Beautiful work; very happy with it and well worth the money I spent.

Paulette is a genius! Austin Upholstery Studio has definitely earned a client for life. Paulette is so enthusiastic about approaching your project and helping think through the best way to get it done. Her skill and experience goes so far beyond furniture. She helped me to modify a pop up tent into a portable photo booth of all things! Because of her help, skill, and vision I now have a beautiful piece of sewing magic and also a livelihood. I will continue recommending AUS to anyone and everyone forever. Thanks y'all!

I can't say enough good things about the service and workmanship of Austin Furniture Upholstery…read more We needed to either get our living furniture reupholstered or buy something new. Originally, we decided to just replace both furniture pieces because they were pretty beaten up. We looked around a bit and everything was either too expensive or poorly built. Looking around definitely made us rethink kicking our old expensive Natuzzi couches to the curb because the frames were so well built. Enter Jose and the Austin Furniture Upholstery Team. We tried two other upholstery shops and Austin Furniture Upholstery was the only shop that could match our original microfiber material at a reasonable price. The fabric was half the price of one of the other shops as well. They even made arm covers for the pieces as well Their pick-up & delivery fee was reasonable as well. One shop told me I would have to arrange someone else to pick-up the furniture. All that said, I highly recommend Jose and Austin Furniture Upholstery for your next upholstery job.

I never felt rushed as I went through them. I chose a fabric and José confirmed they were in stock. Then he surprised me and asked if I wanted them by Thanksgiving. Score! The cushions were done in time for the holiday. The padding was replaced and the finished product was beautiful. I feel like the price was reasonable, especially given the quality of the work.

Fabrics of all colors and patterns are packed into here, on shelves or even pews, making for an enjoyable browsing experience. They also sell plenty of other useful items/tools for quilting. Many gorgeous quilts hang from the walls above your head, serving as inspiration. If you're looking for inspiration, they also sell tons of pattern/instruction sets, as well as fabric bundles that have the exact right amount of fabric already enclosed. I always like to make my own patterns, but they had a great variety of them at different challenge levels. Everything was reasonably priced around $12/yd. What impressed me most about this shop was its employees, who were very friendly and affable. Their interest in chatting you up about your on-going projects and the like felt genuine, not just a customer-service schtick. The proprietor even showed me her "long arm" machine in the back room, which she had set up actively stitching away on a massive quilt, laying out a stunning stitched pattern. Really neat getting to see it in action! There is also a nice bathroom inside the shop (and more quilts to admire while you go, haha!). Glad to have found this place! We don't get out to Wimberley too often (from Buda), but for sure now that I know it's here, we'll stop in next time we venture by.

I was hoping to make more than just one small block and have different supplies like fabric for printing. It was very therapeutic to carve my small block. The class felt a little scattered - but it was a very easy going environment, super relaxed. Our instructor was friendly and encouraged us to tap into originality without overthinking it instead of looking up patterns or inspo on our phone. I really liked that. And she offered us all coffee, freshly made. You can basically come in to do all the arts and craft your heart desires, on a donation basis. Affordable and unique way to release your artistic side without investing too much in all the supplies and then an abandoning a hobby. I'd come back with a friend and check out a different class.
