Jon from Austin Star Services came out to our house this past Saturday afternoon to take a look at our A/C and try to figure out why it wasn't working. But, before we get into it, a little background information for context. My wife and I are fairly young, just bought our first home and only been living in it for a couple months. We are new to owning a home, obviously, and still learning everything it takes to maintain our home. Luckily, we have great friends and family to help us out. Now back to the story. We bought an extended home warranty with our home, and that is how we got Austin Star Services to come out to our house. About a week or 2 prior, our A/C just went out like a light. We tried a few home remedies I looked up on the internet. None of it worked, and that's when we called. Jon came out and took a look. He found some suspecting items that he thought might have been the problem, but wasn't too sure. After finding out that this was our first home and we had very little knowledge about A/C units, he was kind enough to educate us on what he was doing and why, what we should be doing, and how to maintain a unit in the long run. As it sat, we were liable to pay anything from $60 to $2,700 in repairs, depending on the inspection report, home warranty agency, and Austin Star Services. At this point, he could've left and reported what he thought the issue was, but he decided to take one last look, to see if there was something he didn't catch the first time. After checking the outside unit, he found the big, but simply fixed, problem. Before he fixed it, Jon came back into the house and explained the good news and told us it'd be fixed in no time. Ten minutes later, it was all fixed, and we were good to go. Thanks to Jon, we saved a lot of money, a big headache, and now we know what to look for and how to maintain our equipment. Jon was forward, honest and got the job done, with the customer in mind, not his wallet. And because of that, I would absolutely recommend Jon and Austin Star Services. read more

Austin Star just completed a very significant job for us and we could not be more pleased with Jon Esquivel, the owner. His knowledge, approach and determination was amazing. We were having a lot of air quality issues and the house smelled like the attic. Also, the master bedroom would not cool in the late afternoon. We talked to several AC groups. One supposedly sealed the house for us to stop the smell, but no change. They started suggesting the ozone machines but our research suggested that was not a safe option for us. Jon is all about testing and making sure that what he provides will get measurable results that he can show you. I was a bit hesitant at first. He seemed so detailed that I wondered if it was overkill. But he really knows his stuff. He has studied the AC and home air quality subject and is very passionate about it and passionate about being really great at his trade. Jon went over his recommendations several times to answer all of our questions. He found rebates and did all the work for us. He communicated with us constantly. We knew when Austin Star was coming, when they would arrive, how long it would take... When he was done with the job he came back and retested everything and was able to show us with his data how much things had improved. When the master bedroom was not cooling as we thought it would he was back right away to figure out why and solved that issue too. This work is a big investment and air quality in a home is complicated. Jon is a veteran who has started his own business that delivers great service, amazing knowledge and terrific determination to come through for his customers. You will get the results you want from Jon and feel like you are getting what you pay for. We highly recommend him. read more

So glad and thankful to finally be cool again!!! Our AC went out in early August and after two previous AC companies disappointed us, our home warranty company referred us to Austin Star Services. Rick came out and cleaned our outdoor unit and ran some tests and realized there was more going on, and there was a problem or a leak with the coil in the indoor unit. They needed approval to continue from our warranty company, and it was late in the day, so it had to wait. Unfortunately, through poor communication on my part a few days turned into a week, but today Rick showed up with a camera to check out our coil and make sure it was clean, and wasn't causing the problem. Through a series of checks and balances he was able to narrow down what the problem was, and said we should have the part and be up and running by the end of the week. Well, it turned out that John, the supervisor had the part, cleared it with the warranty company and was here to install it this afternoon, shortly after Rick left. He also took the time to explain what he thinks happened, causing the problem to happen. And he also talked about the "Frankenstein" we have in our indoor unit that is put together so it runs, but probably not very efficiently. After being without AC for most of August I am so thankful to John and Rick and Austin Star Service for their excellent service. I would definitely recommend them to others. They are very professional, and take the time to explain everything they're doing. read more

Austin Star Services is SIMPLY OUTSTANDING! I recently used their service for full replacement of A/C system in my house. Jon, owner of the company, is very helpful and reliable. I already had a good impression on him even before he started his work because he always replied to my inquiry promptly and efficiently. On the installation day, he showed up on time with a heads up call that was 30 minutes before his arrival. This was good too. And, once he started his work with his employees, my impression was getting better and better. Jon is very friendly and he explains his work (what he is doing, why that work is necessary) clearly so that even a non-expert like me can understand most of them. His work is thorough and all his employees work very hard. They finished initial inspection, test, removing the old unit, installing the new unit, improving ducts, test and inspection after installation, etc within a day. That was incredible. I also want to mention that Jon is truly enjoying his work with enthusiasm and professional skills. In short, Jon and Austin Star Services are highly reliable, skillful, and reasonable and so, I can recommend them to anyone who needs A/C services. read more

As with many others, was referred to Austin Star through my Home Warranty company. Jon visited the house during the previous year for an AC unit not producing AC, and after getting it functioning again, did let me know that the unit was getting up in years and might not last much longer. Beginning of this year we were not getting heat, and determined that the compressor was shot. Was definitely shocked when estimates and tests came back for replacing not just the compressor, but everything from the outside compressor unit to the inside air handler to the duct work for reasons ranging from sizing to age and leakage. I was not the happiest camper and was skeptical that everything needed to be replaced for the sake of a compressor going out. Roll forward through several weeks of the entire process including negotiating the have to have and the want to have list, and a solid week of work crews in my home - the work was done. Jon and ALL of his team were professional, courteous while in my home and eventually made me see the wisdom of the suggested upgrades. I would recommend them highly to anyone else needing AC/heat pump work. Thank You Austin Star. read more

I was referred to Austin Star via HWA and was very pleased with their services. The only delays I experienced were due to the warranty company and not due to Austin Star. They assisted me in working with the warranty company and performed additional updates to our historic home at reasonable prices. In fact, the final cost ended up being less than the original quote. The crew was friendly and courteous and they cleaned up after themselves. When they completed the installation, they walked through the house with my husband and me and explained the what they did and how to properly maintain the equipment and use it to its maximum efficiency. They also walked us through the invoice item by item and verified what was done and what could be deducted. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a company to install a new system. read more

I have never had anything less than a stellar experience with Austin Star Services. John is the most professional person I have possibly ever met. He's a clear expert in his field and clearly loves what he does. Maria is a terrific communicator, and I really appreciate the fact that she happily will communicate via phone, text, or email based on your preferences/needs. The entire crew at the company are super friendly, easy to work with, kind, and obviously care for getting the job done right. I've had the pleasure to have these folks over for repairs at my home twice now and am looking forward to working with them to do system maintenance as well to extend the life of my air conditioning units. I very much trust their judgement and expertise and won't hesitate to call them again. read more

The folks at Austin Star really worked hard to help me with my heating needs. I had to work through a warranty company to get final approval for a new heating unit. Austin Star kept me informed throughout the process and was ready to go when final approval was obtained. When they came in to do the work. they provided covers for the floors to keep the place as clean as possible. Installation of the new unit took only about 2 hours and afterward they showed me everything they had done. They tested the unit to ensure it was working properly and set the thermostat for me. I couldn't be happier with a company. Will definitely use them any time the need arises. read more

Got a quote to repair my AC unit and the first company said they wouldn't work on it because it was 19 years old. I called Austin Star for a second opinion, because I asked around the office and a coworker recommended them. So, they sent out Jon Esquivel who did some tests with his diagnostic equipment. Turned out, the first guy was just trying to force me to replace my entire AC unit. Sometimes you can just tell. So, a couple of parts and new refrigerant and my AC is running like new again! I'm thankful there are still honest and reliable AC repair companies out there. read more

My wife and I just had a new indoor and outdoor unit installed by Austin Star Services and we are very satisfied with their work. John walked me through every step of the installation and answered every question asked. His team was professional, courteous, and cleaned up perfectly after the job was completed. John went over the itemized bill upon completion and made deductions for product that was not needed to complete the job which saved us $246.00! That kind of honesty is rare in the current world that we live in. I would definitely recommend Austin Star Services! read more
