There I was, 2 days until my option period expired and I still hadn't had the AC unit inspected on my prospective condo purchase. I requested quotes from 6+ of the top-yelp-rated servicers (sorted by number of reviews), and none of them were even willing to show up if the building was over 3 stories (some said 2! - the building in question was a whopping 4 stories...). I talked to Steve at Paleface and he said no problem - he could inspect the unit the next morning. Tim even called to verify the appointment and the next morning, Steve inspected the unit and found it to have R-22 refrigerant, which as of 1/1/20 is banned. Not only was the inspection half the price of one of the top-reviewed servicers on yelp, but Steve's timely inspection report as well as paleface's can-do attitude, allowed me to negotiate more at closing. We've called upon Paleface two separate times and each time their service and honesty made them stand out. The first time was when we were purchasing our house back in 2016. The seller had an old HVAC unit we wanted checked out. I have a friend who's a contractor and he recommended Paleface. Tim came out in the quick timeframe we needed and gave us an honest and reasonable quote. Very thankful for his expertise as it helped us negotiate with the seller. Fast forward to January 2019, we have the house but now the HVAC has completely gone kaput. Had a problem with the A/C in that the fan wasn't coming on (I checked the circuit breakers and thermostats and there seemed to be no issues there). I called a few places (one of them couldn't make it out until after the weekend), but I did get through to Paleface Heating & Air Conditioning.  They called me back almost immediately and said they could have someone here in a couple of hours.  Within two hours, a technician (Steve) came out and diagnosed the problem (turns out it was only a blown fuse in the upstairs controller).  He wasn't sure what caused it to blow and couldn't get it to happen again after replacing it (but he helped me clearly understand the problem and what to look out for should it reoccur).  In any case, Steve quickly diagnosed, then fixed the problem and at very little cost -- our A/C is back on again and I can't say enough for the excellent service I received from Paleface Heating and Air Conditioning. read more

Just had my first encounter with Paleface Heating & AC, and I am convinced I made the right choice calling them. Katie in the office was really friendly, and answered each of my questions thoroughly. She scheduled a technician to come out same-day, and then called me to let me know the tech had an opportunity to come over earlier than expected. We recently moved into a home, and wanted to get routine maintenance and a diagnosis done on the AC - it seems to have trouble cooling down in the evenings. When the technician (Tim) arrived, he spent a little time in the attic, and came down to let me know that a damper in our dual-zone cooling system had been installed incorrectly, and that was (in part) why it may be having some trouble. Even so, he let us know that the issue wasn't an emergency and gave us some tips on how to run our system in the near future while we decided when and how to get the damper problem fixed. VERY nice to have him explain to us the problem, WITHOUT trying to hard sell us on immediate repair work. We've had such experiences, but that just isn't how Paleface operates, thank goodness! Tim then performed maintenance on our system: cleared the drain lines, cleaned the condenser, unclogged the system, and put in about 2 pounds of coolant. Before he left, we already felt a difference in the volume of air pumping into the house. So good. Hey were friendly, punctual, clear about what they were going to do, did the job well, and charged me fairly. I'll scheduled them yearly to do our maintenance, and will definitely call them if any emergencies arise. read more
