Do NOT buy their Groupon. As we all have experienced during these COVID times, stress is something we've all experienced. I wholeheartedly had the best intentions to find a spa, who's vision ensures its customers feel relaxed and welcomed; clearly, this business has no interest in exercising good customer service or performing their selling point. I want to share that I purchased two (2) Groupon deals, one for my partner and me. Their Groupon deal notes that to book an appointment, one needs to reach via text and indicate interest in getting a massage and note if it's a Groupon deal. In short, I reached out to them via text and informed them that I'd like to schedule two massage appointments, one for me and one for my partner, and inquired about their availability. I was informed that they only book "one person at a time" "separately" and that the earliest booking was a month out... I texted back and informed them that it's fine to please book us for the Dec 16 opening. Their response noted they misread my text, that "they don't couples" "we book one at a time." Understandably, I get that no couples are not being serviced, but I was simply asking to be booked the same day. Their response that followed was abrasive and in poor taste that I was completely flabbergasted. They noted, "I'm not booking "us" ... "they understand my goal" ...." they work with one person at a time, if we want something together, they are not the right company." Okay, so at this point, I start to think that maybe, just maybe, the person behind the phone has misunderstood and they need me to state that I want to book two individual appointments for two different people and that I'd like to request them on the same day, just not the same hour. (please see texted pictures attached). But their response got even better. They suggested that I get a refund AND try Massage Green. I was appalled and thought, wow, instead of this person taking the time to sort out the misunderstanding, they rather pawn people off and not try to retain the customer. A simply, "I'm sorry, I may have misunderstood your request...Is there a good number I can reach you at, and work on getting that appointment for you and your partner?" Instead, they sent passive-aggressive emojis, which clearly denotes they have no desire to stay in business. Overall, I simply cannot wrap my head around a "business" who refers customers to another spa competitor. In COVID times, many things aren't normal, or simply, this business just needs to employ the right people and practice good customer service.

I bought a groupon voucher for a massage for my birthday and whoever I was in contact with completely ruined it for me. They wouldn't even give me their name, and did not try to be accommodating. My friend got the groupon voucher as well, so we decided we would travel to SB the same day. Understandably they couldn't do the appointment at the same time due to COVID so I asked if they had 2 openings the same day anytime throughout the week. The person I was talking to could not understand what I was saying and kept repeating we don't do same time appointments. I kept repeating I did not want that and they kept repeating the same thing over and over. I asked for available time slots for the week then so my friend and I could figure it out on our own but they wouldn't even provide that. This is my first ever experience with an establishment that is so obviously not trying to satisfy the customer. *Update: owner finally contacted me and scheduled us in. There was no apology. Later the owner informed me that she/he saw my yelp review and asked me to take it down. I was busy that day (Tuesday- my birthday) and forgot to respond. The next day they said they cancelled my appointment because my "reaction to an international pandemic is awful" I would understand a reaction if I asked for something ridiculous but for a business to say that when all I asked for was 2 available time slots the same day or two consecutive days is extremely unprofessional. They didn't even offer to let me have a good experience which I was still open to after the miscommunication fiasco and redeem themselves.

Wow!! My husband and I just received a couples massage from Jen and Scott and it was fantastic. Normally, when you ask a masseuse for a deep massage they just add a little pressure, not here. They get into every knot, muscle and pressure point. We walked out floating on air. It's a very nice space overlooking state street and the bubbly was a nice touch. We already booked another appt. The only tip I will offer is to get there a little early to find parking. We scoped it out ahead a of time and parked in the parking structure around the corner.

So I booked an appointment for a couple massage Saturday 11/11. Due to a family emergency, I needed to cancel. I called them Thursday afternoon, they didn't answer (no surprise). Considering it's a 24 hour cancelation & my appointment wasn't until 10 am Saturday. I figured I could just call Friday morning and still be able to cancel. Well I called Friday morning, 4 DIFFERENT times, left 4 DIFFERENT voicemails telling them I needed to cancel, never got a call back from them. So today's Monday, I called them to let them know I still am owed a refund, they finally called back when my fiancé called them. They said it was a "late cancelation" & the manager even went as far as saying I was lying and I didn't call until Saturday morning to cancel. I have phone records to prove I called Friday. (See picture) I'm now beginning to think they didn't call me back ON PURPOSE. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Now I have to go through the trouble of disputing the charge on my card (which I already started). Just save your money & go somewhere else. Not worth the waisted time with these people. Oh & they only called my fiancé back because he left a voicemail saying he had some questions about a massage, otherwise I highly doubt they would have called either of us back!

While it can be difficult to get through to book a massage, Hector is totally worth it! Try the Tiger Balm Massage, it was awesome!

I hear massage businesses will be opening on the 19th. Is this true for Sparkling Spa? And will you be accepting groupons?

I used to get massages on a regular basis but fell off the massage wagon. A friend of mine highlighted that she has gotten massages once a month for the last 14 years. I was definitely behind the 8 ball on massages. My friend's long-term revelation was eye-opening, so I decided to get a massage today with Green Care Massage, which is located on W. Parmer, next door to Tomo Sushi. My massage choice was a deep tissue massage. Those polls are not for curtains!!! When my massage therapist asked me could she work on my back, I thought, I said yes. What she actually said was can I "walk" on your back. In my head, I was thinking why do her hands feel like feet...because they were feet! Snappity, snap, snap...I was getting a full on Ashiatsu massage (also known as back walking massage or barefoot massage). If you are not aware, Ashiatusu is a technique where the massage therapist uses their feet to apply deep pressure while holding onto overhead bars for balance and control. The word "Ashiatsu" is a Japanese word meaning (ashi=foot and atsu= pressure.) Apparently, my back was so tight I needed Ashiatsu first. My massage beginning to end was incredibly effective and rejuvenating experience. From the moment the session began, it was clear the massage therapist was highly skilled and knew her craft. The deep, slow strokes and focused techniques worked through my knots and tight muscles, especially in my back and legs. While there were moments of intensity that you would expect with deep tissue work, it was never painful (pressure...no pain). Afterward my body felt like it had exhaled and breathing fresh air.... well worth the time and money. I could feel the tension evaporating with each targeted movement. It is important note, I felt soreness in my neck and back during the massage that I did know existed previously. After the massage session, I noticed a significant improvement in my mobility and range of motion. My usual stiffness had disappeared. I do not know if I will get a massage once a month, but I certainly will not wait too long before another one.

When you get upstairs, such an easy-going, clean and relaxing environment, without the stress of hearing conversations in massage rooms next door or waiting in the room looking up each time a massage therapist walks out. It's one-on-one in his apartment and it's setup very comfortably. Now let's talk about Christopher - the nicest person you'll ever meet and you just want to be friends and hang out all the time. He's very adaptive to whether you want a quiet time to catch up on a nap, which I did last time, or a conversation about speakeasies that distracts from some of the pain of releasing tight muscles. Before he starts, he's a good listener and asks insightful questions to provide maximum relief. Once you're on the table, he's also very perceptive to what areas need more attention. He's kind, effective and truly cares to make sure his client has had a productive massage session. He doesn't rush you out but rather spends a few minutes on feedback to make sure you feel good. I am a bit of a massage snob but honestly it's bananas to me that I couldn't seem to find anyone in the entire Austin area that seemed to know what they were doing- and I tried them all. Spas , private practice, sport masseuse physical therapy massage therapist you name it. Enter Chris. He knows the anatomy of your body so he is a true healer. I can't stress how important it is for a massage therapist to know anatomy. My tendinitis and tennis elbow always flares up throughout the year. I've had to go to acupuncture in the past but Chris has changed that! Now I just have to see him for a few sessions and it's gone! It's amazing. When I told Chris of my struggles with finding someone good he explained to me that in Texas massage therapist / masseuse only have to get HALF of the amount of hours needed to get licensed that people in New York need! Which explains a lot ! His setup is in his apartment ( which is common in NYC so it didn't bother me ) but for anyone wondering if that's sketch- it's not ! It just allows his pricing to stay competitive. Honestly - you will not be disappointed with a massage from Chris. The best of the best of the best. 100000000000 stars !!!
