Got a couples massage from Jen and Hector, who were great! They really listened to our needs and gave us some great advice afterward about maintaining our seriously wound up bodies. There were moments when Jen was massaging me and I wondered why that spot would need attention, until she hit a big muscle knot that I didn't even know existed! I guess I carry my stress everywhere! The big shark amuses me and the patio overlooking State is a pretty fun vantage point. The electric blanket was a first but it made me wonder why I haven't had it before! What an amazing experience! I had awful upper back spinal pain, shooting down into my left arm. I couldn't move my head. Scott released my tension and nerve pain within one session. We paid weeks in advance for an appointment which was bad enough. Then after waiting almost a month, driving 30 minutes from where we live to get my husband and my massage we were told that they over booked and they didn't have time for us so we needed to reschedule. Then Scott told us that he would give us an additional 30 minutes each. He was going to email us the offer and the dates but that never happened either. The spa itself feels a little 'urban' since its located right on State St and from the treatment room you can hear all the sounds from the busy road below. This didn't bother me but if you want complete silence and darkness you may want to ask them to close the window and pull the curtains. Like some other reviewers, I've had massages all over the world, and find that his technique is great - firm, slow and focused on the knots that build up in neck, shoulders and back. When you are a long time customer at some places, service can get complacent, but not with Scott. Every time is like the first time - except I don't drink the bubbly or eat the truffle anymore. Just give me the massage! Definitely get the hot wrap and the Tiger Balm - well worth it. The two rooms overlooking State St. have a very cool vibe - Scott has great taste in decor. my first time ever coming here and purchased off of groupon. i had emily and she was SO sweet. she makes you feel very comfortable and she's so kind. i had trouble finding the place because it's located upstairs and i didn't know that. i also thought it was going to be full body massage, but i only got my back, shoulders, & neck done. next time i would just ask to make sure they can do my legs and feet as well! other than that, emily was so sweet, and everything was cute and clean! read more

Customer service is not completely dead. Scott, the owner of Sparkiling Spa, was very apologetic and went to great lengths to correct the terrible experience I had trying to set up my service. I had an amazing massage from him. The place is adorable and he listened and took action to correct the booking problems that I brought to his attention. My friend and I (platonic gf) bought a couples massage on Groupon-I really like this UNIQUE place! It's different-quirky/funky in a fun sorta playful way! Bright collars (like Spain) -funny decorations-seating on bright skinny veranda-hip non traditional massage music! You can really hear the hustle- bustle of the city-but it adds to the unique experience! I used to be a massage therapist so I'm extremely picky -I got the owner to give me my massage...great massage and very professional/INTUITIVE! I liked that they left us face down entire massage-but this is different-this way the massage didn't feel rushed! Might be good to tell people though? I liked that he periodically checked in on pressure! I wish he'd been a little more deep with my feet-he lightly touched a finger on different spots on my feet-didn't feel it -I should have said "deep on feet" he's open to communicating-but other then that it was-A+! The beautiful red head massaged my friend-sweet/glowing with a great smile and lovely energy! Be sure you give yourself lots of time to park and find this place-it's VERY confusing the first time and they don't answer the phone if you're lost. Road construction adds to confusion! Also be open minded with city vibe/noise-pretend your in a busy Paris studio! Oh-it was really cool and FUN that they let us relax and hang out and drink champagne after our massage-we felt welcome! Wow. Scott gives a fantastic deep tissue massage. This is one of the best deals in town. The spa recently started doing Cupping, which if you haven't tried it before, you really should-think Michael Phelps and the olympics with those weird round marks on his back! The most AMAZING massage! I have had a lot of massages, and know what a great deep tissue massage should be. This was all of that plus more. Scott uses heat and deep muscle creams that add to the experience. When you are almost done, Scott does something with the neck I have never had done before-it makes your neck feel like rubber! This place is very cute and the female staff was very friendly. The male there was very short worded when he would speak. The massage was great however we were not asked to come early and it is a bit hard to find so we arrived about 7-10 minutes late, not too bad however there is some paperwork to fill out and they give you champagne and truffles. We thought that was nice and relaxing until our massage was cut very short. After the massage therapists left the room we got up and looked at the clock and it was 10:57. Our massage was scheduled at 10. I wish we had been asked to arrive early as they must want you out of the room before the next appointment that was already in the waiting room when we walked out. Would have liked to relax with the champagne and truffles a bit more but I left a little wound up and rushed. However the reason we wish we had more warning on time is because we thoroughly enjoyed the massage time we did get. read more

I would NOT recommend this spa! I purchased a Groupon several months ago for myself. The massage was so-so but the masseuse did not offer me the champagne that was supposed to come with the deal, so I asked. I was told "Oh, nothing was in the computer about that". Then he offered me warm champagne because there was none chilled. THEN my kids bought me a GROUPON for Mother's day not knowing I had been there and was not thrilled with my experience. I didn't want to be ungrateful for the gift so thought I'd give it another try with a different masseuse. I called and was told they would not honor it because I had used a Groupon before. The receptionist was rude and cut me short as I was talking. Just as well that I will have my kids get a refund from Groupon and I will not be going there! I WOULD NOT recommend them to anyone or ever go back! There's plenty of other wonderful massuses here in town! read more
