I received a couples massage groupon as a wedding gift, and while it took a while to get in, it was definitely a very nice gift! Because of my frequent travel schedule for work, and SBSS having a wait time of 2-3 weeks, I kept calling and not being able to get an appointment. However, Scott was finally able to help me once the company changed management. He was very good at keeping in touch about our appointment, and working to find something that fit our schedule. Jen and Hector were our massage therapists, and I was so grateful that Hector speaks Spanish, since my husband's English is not great yet. We both enjoyed the relaxing massage, and Jen made sure to pay extra attention to an area that I pointed out ahead of time. We got the Tiger Balm heat pack, which was only $10 extra for each of us and really increased the soothing effect on our tense muscles! I tried to use my Groupon and they wouldn't let me because I had been a customer once before several years ago. I was told the Groupons are only for new customers and it was mentioned in the fine print. If that's the case they should make that much more apparent in the main text. I was told I could refund the Groupon and they would give me the same rate. I said I didn't want to go through that hassle and asked that they just honor the Groupon already bought. I was told if they did that half the money. Would go to Groupon. In other words he cared more about the money than the customer. I told him I would refund it and not use their services. He got confrontational and told me he was a business owner for four years implying I didn't understand how businesses marketing works. I found him rude and the whole process like a bait and switch. Another great spa location! The decor here is so bright and fun and inviting, with a 2nd floor suite overlooking Street, it's a relaxing view to enjoy before and after a great massage. I've been going to Scott for massage for over 5 years now and I will follow him anywhere! Some people just have a gift for massage and Scott is one of those people. He is professional, knowledgeable and one of the best Masseuses I've seen. He is always educating himself and implementing new and effective techniques. Amazing!! Hector is absolutely incredible at what he does. I first tried them out with a groupon and wasn't expecting much, because to be honest, I don't have great experiences with groupons most of the time. But I've been coming back month after month after month because Hector is so skilled. He'll always ask what you'd like him to focus on, but I continue to be so impressed by how intuitive he is. You could lay down on the table a certain way and he will know what muscles need work just based on that. You can tell this isn't just a paycheck for him; he truly loves healing people with massage and has put in the work to learn the right techniques. If you want a relaxing spa-type massage with champagne and ocean views, I think you'd be better off going to the ritz or something. Even though I always feel relaxed after a massage from Hector, this is the type of massage that is actually digging deep into problem areas and I'm not going to lie, it will hurt. Went for a couples massage on our way through Santa Barbara. Great patio overlooking state street where you drink champagne and fill out the standard form (where do you want to be massaged, relative health issues, name, etc). Scott was my therapist and it was my first time having another man massage me, and I'd highly recommend it if you want a deep massage. Also tried cupping for the first time, and it feels great! If I could give negative stars for whom ever is responding and in charge of their "text" communication and scheduling I would. I, like some here bought a Groupon, two in fact, one for myself and one for my daughter. I contacted the number as instructed in the Groupon. I was told that they would not/could not book our appointments simultaneously meaning they were not willing to book one appointment for her and one for me during the same line of communication. Insisting that my daughter text them directly, so she did. I bought two Groupon's on November 3, it was more than a month before an appointment was available so I said that was fine. The person asked me to send a copy of the Groupon voucher, so I did, not realizing in doing so it "redeemed" my Groupon. Suffice to say I booked the appointment for today 12/21, I began texting to confirm my appointments on Friday, first asking if they were still seeing clients during the shut down, I was told they were of I wanted them too, I text again yesterday 12/20 and asked to confirm my 5:30, the only response I got was "ok", today 12/21 text and asked if my appointment was confirmed and the responses I received were the most unprofessional I'd encountered in I don't know how long, I was asked if I wanted them to cancel my appointment, that I could reach out to Groupon for a refund, they redeemed my voucher. Not sure how one intends on staying in business with this kind of crap. On a high note, my daughter did have her session on Saturday and raved about the Therapist. I came to the Santa Barbara Sparkling Spa with very bad neck and shoulder pain, and Hector listened carefully to my complaints and addressed them specifically. He is careful to provide the preferred pressure, and he is able to find tight spots that you might not even know exist. He employs many different techniques to get at specific problems. I have had a lot of massage and this has been my best experience. After weekly massage for only one month, my pain has significantly diminished. Really great atmosphere and massages. They have a pretty intimate setting with a reception area and just one room for the massages. The ambiance in the room was very welcoming and relaxing and set a wonderful mood. They were really nice and friendly and made us feel comfortable during the massage. We decided to get the couples massage which includes champagne and truffles and we came out feeling extremely relaxed. We also got the tiger balm add on which was amazing because it combined a heated pad with the cooling sensations of tiger balm. Booked a couples massage on Groupon (great deal) for me & my husband. Booking the massage was an average experience, they were only available appointments about a month out (not a big deal). Once the day came, the place was a bit difficult to find, there is a back entrance up some stairs (which was locked when we arrived) and then a front entrance right off of state st which we found. Reason it's a bit confusing is the business has a few names Santa Barbara Sparkling Spa, 805 Massage, and another name (can't remember). Once we arrived, staff was super friendly, place is unique & quirky, but clean and has a nice ambiance. We filled out questionnaires and were taken to the massage room. Owner, brought his side kick, super cute, very calm & sweet pitbull. The massages were relaxing, and we both enjoyed them very much. After our massages we received champagne and 2 chocolate truffles which we enjoyed on the balcony overlooking State St. Overall a good experience & we will hopefully be back in the future! read more

Santa Barbara Sparkling Spa has a very welcoming and relaxing ambiance, with a balcony overlooking state street, and some bubbly ready to greet you. As for the massages, they were incredible and much better than what we had at Massage Envy! What could have been the most stressful day was very relaxing (for at least part of it), thanks to Scott and Hector. Both were very skilled, and knew exactly how much strength to apply for difficult spots. Sore necks, backs, and calves were all expertly massaged away, and the heated blankets, pads, and tiger balm were added bonuses. Only complaint was that we wanted more of massage bliss! The couples massage is an absolute steal, and if we were staying in the area longer, we'd definitely go back.
