Needed some UV grade acrylic (plexiglass) for picture frames. Austin Plastics was almost half the price of places on-line and had better reviews. They were less than 1/4 of local frame shops. Ordered an acrylic topper for a table, but admitted I know nothing about this and asked for recommendations for what would work best. Unfortunately was given a rough cut piece that had no polishing whatsoever and cut my hand on the plastic splinters while handling it. I contacted the business but wasn't really offered any resolution. They suggested sanding it. Which I did, at my own expense and inconvenience, of course. But it certainly isn't the nice finish I thought I was getting and which I would gladly have paid for had they let me know ahead of time that it would be necessary. read more

Update: 7/13/2019- The manager reached out to me directly and apologized for my experience at Austin Plastics. She has taken care of the issue and I would reach out to Austin Plastics in the future for any needs. I think some of the other negative reviews may not be an issue anymore. Wow... is all I can say. (Short summary at the end) I read the other one star review and called Regal plastics in avoidance of Austin Plastics. Regal was more expensive for a better product and their staff tried to educate me in a professional matter. My experience with Austin Plastics started with me asking for 5 pieces of plexi glass in metric sizes through their online form. Donna Trevino followed up with a prompt response with everything converted to inches... incorrectly. I emailed back and called with the correctly converted measurements. Two of the five pieces (doors for an enclosure) were the half the size of each of the other pieces, but were the same price. I opted to buy 4 of the same size pieces and make the final cut at home. Donna seemed very confused about the dimensions and what to charge. She confirmed several times, still not totally getting what she was repeating. When it seemed like she felt comfortable with what I wanted, Donna mentioned that they closed at 4 PM (Friday) and would not open until Monday and asked if I wanted to pick up the order today. She stated that I needed to be there before 4 pm, because her Dog (yes, Dog) would not wait any longer and would be upset if I showed up right at 4pm (not in the obviously joking manner). I said I think so, let me see if my wife can, and Donna asked me to call back to confirm. I did. At which point I called back keys and wallet in hand walking out the door to let her know I was on my way. She said that she needed to confirm the measurements one more time (this was literally the sixth time), and that she was with a customer and we could do it when I got there. I mentioned that it would take me 25 minutes to get there and asked if they could have it ready. She raised her voice and said "I want to confirm the measurements again and I have a customer!" I said never mind I will buy somewhere else, and she hung up the phone with a loud clang. SHORT(er)SUMMARY: Although I can't comment on the quality of their products (cut on a table saw), I found Donna to be confused, rude (I don't care that your dog has to leave at 4pm on the dot) and incorrect (glad I double checked her conversion of mm to inches). My experience with Regal plastics was professional, educational, and prompt. The guy at Regal also took the time to see what was more cost effective for me (buying a whole sheet and doing my own cutting vs buying the pre cut pieces). This is a great place to know about if you do a lot of bulk work with plastics! Their prices are fair, the staff friendly, and they sell scrap acrylic for $1.50/lbs. The sizes and thickness obviously vary but if your project isn't too specific or picky you can get a massive bargain. I managed to replace twelve indoor window panes off $30 worth of scrap acrylic -- considerably cheaper than what I would have paid had I gone to some place like Home Depot. read more

Eh. I ended up here after being dissatisfied with the service at Regal Plastics since they had their staff turnover. Now I'm convinced there isn't a single plastic supply in Austin that isn't disappointing. Came here for what should have been a simple order, like literally squares of plastic. The lobby smells funny and the staff seems generally confused. There are insane upcharges for simple stuff (things other places would do as a courtesy) so I opted for the barest of bones they had to offer. It took several additional days than we were originally quoted and the receptionist called several times with different ETA days and after all that...the finished product is horrific. It wasn't until I took the film off later, that I noticed that the edges of my plastic are chewed to death and there are mars, chips, and scratching. Clearly they don't laser cut and use a chop saw or steak knife or something. Not impressed. Waaaay too overpriced for the quality. If I would have known, I would have bought a sheet and cut it myself or chewed it with my teeth. Also, there's no browsing and you literally get told what you're going to get. Not a fan. read more

Courteous and helpful staff, providing a quick quote over the phone and speedy service. I was in need of uv filtering acrylic sheet for framing light-sensitive material. They had it at a fair price, thicker than elsewhere, and cut while I waited. Highly recommended. read more
