For my pool leak I had already used some dye to see if any of my fittings/skimer were the source of the leak - but I had come up short. I knew I needed some professional help. Nick and team came highly recommended by my pool crew and a neighbour, but I did my dilligence and shopped around anyway. The Austin Leak Detection team were the most responsive and the most diligent. I had already performed the bucket test so knew I was losing more than .5"/day which is the threshold for them to come out. It was a couple of weeks before they could come out, but Forest and team were on time (texted me in advance), very polite and friendly. Within an hour they had checked all my lines, identified the leak and finished checking the other lines to confirm it was the only line leaking. They gave me a reasonable quote on the spot and offered to come back and fix it but also left it up to me if I'd rather shop around. The quote was low enough that it made sense to have them complete the job. The actual repair involved breaking open a smallish 1-ft hold under my pool deck and digging down to expose the leaking pipe. It was quickly repaired and the entire system re-tested to make sure there's no further leaking. They patched it back up and matched the color/stones of my deck to make it less obvious there's been a repair. It looks as good as it could and I appreciate their efforts there as my pool deck is rather old and not in the best of shape to begin with. After they left I filled a bucket again, marked with a pencil inside the skimmer basket and after 3 days not a drop of difference. We were fortunate to get on their schedule & they actually found (and repaired) two leaks in our pool. Our Spa/Mini Pool had an issue of loosing 2" of water a day. Based on recommendations from a couple of pool experts, I tried two different highly rated companies to fix the problem. They both failed miserably. Based on my own research, I discovered American Leak Detection. They found the problem ( Bad joint connection under a concrete patio ) and repaired it. Not only did they fix the problem, but they patched the small hole they had to make in the concrete for the repair. I was VERY impressed with their work. Paid fee to have them 1) determine I had a leak, and 2) tell me where the leak was. First issue, I was well aware based on 1.5" day water loss and the wet soil around the pool, I knew I had a leak. After some recent cold weather, my pool started losing 1/2"-1" of water per day. Nick's team came out and determined that there was a leak in one of my return lines. The next day, they repaired the line. Here's my issue: Nick told me that there was a minimum charge of 2 hours at $190/hr. I learned afterwards that this only applied to the leak detection. Nick's team was able to locate my leak in 20 minutes. It cost me another $650 for them to fix the leak. This process took about one hour. I brought this up to Nick, and he did knock $100 off the price of the detection, but I still ended up paying $930 for about 1.5 hours of work. Conclusion: you will probably be spending a minimum of $1000 with this company regardless of how long the detection/repair takes. read more

Our pool started losing water at a rate of just less than 2" per day about a week before we decided to call somebody for help. I called Nick and he and Marco came out the next day. They pressurized all the plumbing that actually tested OK. They found a small leak behind one of the light fixtures in the deep end using the simple die test. They fixed the leak and gave the entire pool a clean bill of health. No more leaks and no more having to top up the pool every day. Nick was great. He was very patient and knowledgeable. He answered all our questions and used state of the art equipment to check out all the lines. My biggest worry was that there was really a leak in the plumbing but he included all of those checks during his inspection. He even sent us a full report later that day stating that the pool was 100% leak free. We've gone a few days since the leak was fixed and the pool water level hasn't moved. We had a leak in our pool and knew it had to be in the drain or drain plumbing since that was the only thing still under water. Most places wanted to charge us a pretty high standard price to find the leak even though we had it isolated to this one area. Nick talked with me about it on the phone, took the time to understand the issue and talked about some different choices for fixing the leak. Nick only charged us for the actual work that he needed to perform since our pool leak was much easier to find instead of some high base price like the other places. We recently had all of the old concrete and coping from around the pool removed and replaced. Problem is that I could not get a prime on the pump after all this work. I had a pool equipment/repair company come out and they determined that I must have a very small leak somewhere on the suction side. As you can imagine, this became a VERY stressful situation because my first thought was that the leak is probably under this brand new concrete. I called Nick at Austin Leak Detection and he patiently listened to me and explained that really small leaks can be difficult to find (he figured it was a small leak because of the small amount of water I was loosing). Anyway, I set up an appointment for 9:30 a couple of days ago. At promptly 9:30 Tim arrived. Shortly after that, Nick arrived. Both guys wasted no time tracking the leak. Within an hour, I'm happy to say that a tiny leak was found just outside the concrete slab more than likely caused by the concrete contractor. Nick and Tim even noticed that at some point, parts from a back flow valve were removed. They had the parts on the truck and for a reasonable price replaced the needed parts. Big help.
