We used Poolie for a bit over two years after our rocky start. The cleaning staff is great. We love Ja'von and the cleaning team. What went wrong for us was a series of increasingly expensive repairs. First the lights. Then the pump. But the pump wasn't properly connected with our old control system. So the heater fried and needed a new manifold. Thousands of dollars ($9,548 over the last 12 months). At least 1,200 was seemingly caused by poor integration between our new pump, heater, and analog control system. The nail in the coffin was that we reached out over the weekend... Sunday. Yeah I know it was a long weekend. So we waited patiently. It's midday Wednesday. Got no response. Zero. From the Poolie website: "Upon receipt of a response from a Poolie representative concerning your reported issue, you are obligated to reply within twenty-four (24) hours. This prompt communication is intended to facilitate resolution efforts and avoid delays." If only they made the same commitment to the customer. Cancelled our service today. I hope they level up. I highly recommend Matt with Poolie for any pool remodel needs. Matt was incredibly easy to communicate with throughout the entire process and gave me plenty of time to decide on colors. Since they don't have a formal showroom, I was initially nervous about color choices, but Matt made sure I felt comfortable with my decision. The job ran over by a couple of days, meaning I was out of town for work when the finishing touches were applied. When I returned home, I was momentarily shocked to find the pool looking very green! I initially worried it was the wrong color, but it simply needed to be properly "shocked" instead of me! Thankfully, my remodel included a month of pool cleaning service, so everything was quickly taken care of by their team. The employees at Poolie were top-notch. They had used my garden hose and loosened it to where I could not get it tightened and when I let Matt know, could they please tighten the outside spigot he went above and beyond and actually had them replaced the whole thing although they did not damage it they just loosened it and it was not easy for me to tighten because it was old. I've been a customer over the last 2 years and have consistently had problems. If you don't mind a legitimate issue quarterly, then by all means go with Poolie. They are kind and work to make things right, however the issues haven't stopped. Some a communication issues and some are staffing. Today, is probably the 5th or 6th major issue where it's a holiday weekend, no communication was sent for a change in schedule, no one came yesterday during our regularly scheduled appointment and today, Good Friday, no one is answering the phone or replying to text (first one I sent this morning at 9:42 AM) which is understandable IF they had communicated to customers the office would be closed today. I received a notice from a debt collector that I owed Poolie money for a service I never received. I do not even own a pool. I am now in the process of trying to get that matter cleared up. They apparently send out invoices for things done to people that have no pools just to try to get money. I can tell that this company is irresponsible by sending bills out and not checking the addresses where the work was done at. I don't think they have very good employees by reading the reviews of a lot a lot of reviews that a lot of others have posted. Poolie bought the company I previously used and it's been a disaster. Now they have gotten my dog sick bc they can't clean up after themselves. A bunch of chlorine was left by the side of my house that I didn't see until my dog started to vomit (see pics). This was day 2 of trying to get them to rectify the situation the previous week from not cleaning my pool properly. I have had a problem with getting them out here to repair the equipment that THEY installed a year ago. It's almost impossible to get them to return a call. Their services are overpriced, service department hard to reach, and they came on another day. The service tech cannot take payment although payment is due the day of service. I had originally called them to help me set up my pool equipment. they wanted to come out and service every two weeks. they never sent me an agreement but I was on the schedule. Poor commination and never know when they were coming. no on the way text or notification. They didn't fix the pool pump setting and it was not working with the panel so after every service for 2 months I would come home and my pump would be off. I tried to call and get someone that could actually fix it and getting it working like it should. mind you this whole time I am trying to cancel service other than repair. I talk with multiple people on the phone and text. finally after another 2 months I got IAN ( Manager ) on the phone. He wanted to send a lead to my house to fix the problem. he got it fixed. GREAT, after 4 months I finally got the problem solved which is a ridiculous amount of time. the problem was one wire in the pool panel. That being said I till wanted to cancel my service. I told IAN this and and he agreed and the would fix the past bills. they kept coming and i had to continue to trun away the tech that tried to come out. POOLIE KEPT SENDING BILLS. they even went as far as to applying late fees to services that either didn't happen or were unwanted. I just receive an email saying that they are going to send the bills to collection! I called to get a problem fixed. I took them 4 months to fix. I paid for that and the 4 months of service. Technician showed up, took a few pictures and tightened a fitting in the equiment area without looking at the pool properly. Totally missed cracks in the skimmer which was the whole reason for the leak test. Charged us handsomely. Know your limitations! Shawn and Adolpho from Poolie saved my lunch yesterday by repairing a broken PVC line with ball valve. A large chunk of broken tree limb landed on the Spa line and broke the pipe both above and below the ground. Often times I try to fix things myself, but I knew this would be a gnarly repair that would have tested Job (the Bible Job). Thank God for Poolie. I have always admired problem solvers and it gave me peace of mind to see Shawn and Adolpho approach this like "no big deal." If you're a pool owner, you know how difficult some PVC repairs can be. Especially repairs under ground with multiple 90s involved. Like how do you get all the parts to exactly fit and be cemented before drying solid? 1. Beware of the company called POOLIE. I was with Real Pools/Scotch Pools for 10 years. I left Scotch Pools because they were over-using chemicals to balance the water, by using too much acid, then having to use more base and then sometimes more acid to get the water balanced. It was costing almost $500 a month, and my pool was still green. I gave them 6 more weeks to train the new guy, but then I gave up. I got POOLIE from Angie's List last May. They give weekly reports, EXCEPT, the reports do not include acceptable ranges, and they never alerted me that chemicals were getting too high to be safe......until last month. The trainer with a new guy told me that I needed to drain the pool at least 3/4 down, because the cyanuric acid (CYA) level was very high, so that the chlorine was bound and not working well. I was very surprised. I had never had this happen before. I did some research. It turned out that the reason the CYA level was so high was because POOLIE uses chlorine tablets and granular shock, which contain a lot of CYA. Real Pools/Scotch Pools mostly used liquid chlorine and shock, which don't have CYA. Chlorine needs some CYA to make it last; however, CYA never leaves the pool, so you have to be careful with it. The level just gets higher. Freshwater and rain will dilute some of it, and splashing it out will get rid of some of it. POOLIE NEVER TOLD ME that I would need to drain my pool some each week and add water. And they did not dilute it either. It only took a couple of months for the CYA level in my pool to be much too high. I communicated with their service manager, Ian, and the GM. Ian said they, meaning HE, should have warned me. I questioned him about whether or not I could pay extra for them to use liquid chlorine in my pool after I drained it, and he just kept repeating that they were using the industry standards. So what was the solution then? Ian told me that the CYA reducers didn't work. 2. POOLIE bought out SCOTCH POOLS in November. They immediately switched those pools to chlorine tabs, so those pools now have water with high CYA levels and unsafe sanitation. Since the beginning of the year, my pool has been skipped 4 times. I told Ian and he promised they would never skip me again, and that they would dilute my water. Instead, they skipped me again and almost choked out the new pump that they had installed in February. Luckily, I came back from out of town that weekend. My pool was green and full of leaves. I took a water sample to Leslie's. ONLY ONE CHEMICAL WAS IN BALANCE. I compared Leslie's report, which had acceptable ranges in it, to the POOLIE service reports since May. My pool chemistry had NEVER been balanced....NOT ONCE. My pool was deemed unsafe and possibly corrosive to the equipment. No wonder I needed a new pump. 3. I FIRED POOLIE! I certainly see now why they were able to offer a "One-Price-Fits-All" strategy. They use cheap chlorine tabs that damage the water and pool. They don't balance the water, which requires different chemicals. It took one week for me to DIY treat and balance my water chemistry. We've been using Poolie (formerly Fiesta Pools) as our weekly pool cleaning company for over a year and had been satisfied with them. That all changed when we had them install a pool heater. The tech came out and connected the heater to our existing gas. We asked if it needed to be inspected and he said no. A day or two later we smelled natural gas in our master bedroom. We didn't connect the dots because the heater is on the other side of a large backyard so we thought the gas was coming from inside the house. Days later we noticed the gas smell was coming from the pool heater. We could hear it hissing, which meant the leak was significant. We asked Poolie to come out the same day (we had to insist and stress the importance). The same tech came out and said he had left old Teflon tape in the threading on the gas line connection that was causing the leak. You are not supposed to use tape on a gas line. He reconnected the line, and we asked how he can be sure it's not still leaking. He didn't know and didn't bring anything to check it. We asked if the heater would have blown up if we turned it on, he said it could have caught fire. We asked why it wasn't tested for leaks when he connected it, to which he replied he doesn't do that, it should be done by a licensed plumber. What?! How can a company send someone who isn't licensed to connect a heater to a gas line? That means the job was done incorrectly. Poolie's response was "the technician conducted the install within the scope of his RAIL certification." If that is the case shouldn't it be standard practice to notify us that a plumber should be there to test the line? They didn't even bother to check for a gas leak after the connection was made. We assumed they were qualified to the complete job, which should absolutely include testing for leaks. We trusted Poolie to ensure the job was complete or at the very least inform us that we should have the line tested by a professional for leaks. We feel Poolie put our family and neighbors in danger, which could have been a disaster had we turned on the heater and it had ignited the gas leak. read more

I asked Specifically as for someone with knowledge of the connection issue I have with gas pressure to a heater. Technician showed up in the front, and when I walked out he drove off. Apparently he suddenly got the message I wanted the service an hour after he showed up, but I was home early anyway. We hired Poolie two summers ago to do a repair on our pump and get the pool up and running. Working with them was amazing and could not have been happier with the end result. We decided this year to hire a pool cleaning service so without relcutancy, hired Poolie to do the weekly cleanings. They all have done an amazing job and within weeks, pool is clean and ready to use. With the weekly pool service, a Poolie technician comes out weekly, checks chemicals and add more if needed. They scoup debris and srub the sides as needed which is followed by an emailed report of what services and chemicals were added. They always make sure our gate it locked and safetly shut. Extra shout out to Rio and Jason for their hard work bringing our pool back to life. Their services are a great value for the cost and look forward to working with them all summer. read more

Poolie took over my account on Feb 1, 2022. We ran into our first trouble with them just two weeks later, on Feb 14th, 2022. After walking through previous problem areas in our pool, they ignored them on the second visit. The pool quickly backed up and needed additional service. The problem persisted through March, with dozens of emails back and forth to try to get them to take proper care of the pool and multiple chemical treatments to fight the algae that grew. Each time we spoke, I was told the problem was the weather or the leaves, although previous pool companies had been able to take care of the pool (with weather and leaves) without any trouble at all. After two months, I started to learn how to take care of the pool myself. I realized part of the problem was that, although their weekly email said they were putting chemicals in, they were lying. I first noticed my chlorine dispenser was completely empty on April 2, 2022, although the pool had been serviced just days before. They acknowledged the pool had been improperly maintained on April 18th and said they fired the previous service tech, with promises of making it right. After that, the pool was green unusable for an additional two weeks. The pool was finally usable again on April 22nd, then green again on the 25th, then usable again on May 2nd. At that point, the service manager I had been working with (Nestor) must have been fired, because his email stopped working. I emailed the main service address again to start from scratch, explaining the last two months of history. On May 7th, I again found part of the problem was the chlorine was empty, though the pool had been serviced the week before. At this point, the pump needed to be repaired - the impeller had gotten jammed. After reviewing footage from our security cameras, I found that they frequently emptied the skimmer baskets without turning off the pump, causing excess debris to flow back through the pipes to the pump. Some was caught by the pump basket, but I suspect the damage was caused by months of additional debris and build up. The repair was $538.44. Problems started back up again in July - we needed another repair, and I found the chlorine was set very very high. Our reading was over 30 ppm. I started taking my own measurements. I bought three separate kits to verify the reading - a Taylor kit, a set of test strips, and an automated tester. All of the kits agreed - the pool chemical levels they reported in their weekly emails were made up. Their email said the pH was 7.4, when it was actually 6.8. I let them know their reports were accurate and they assured me it wouldn't happen again. After reviewing our security camera footage, I suspect there were weeks they sent over a service report, reused old pictures, and never showed up - our skimmer baskets were frequently full even after they'd just "been there." In the beginning of September, my pool turned green again. I found the chlorine dispenser was again empty. I filled it up. That week, the next service report said they added four tabs of chlorine. This is impossible - I had just filled it, and there was no space for more tabs. After the data in their weekly service reports was confirmed to have been made up a second time, and after my pool turned green a fifth time, I canceled my contract in writing on September 6th. When I canceled, the service email address said "Understood, as mentioned, I wish that you would have reached out about it, as we could have taken care of it.". This was an absurd response, after exchanging 50+ emails over the term of our contract. I asked for the final invoice to be prorated, as I canceled in the middle of the service period and needed to buy hundreds of dollars of chemicals to correct my pool chemistry. On September 22, I received a response "I'll review, thanks", and then never heard back I received another invoice today (October 30th), this time with $20 of late fees tacked on. It showed that they'd added 16 tabs of chlorine, one tab of Sodium Bicarbonate, and a half unit of liquid chlorine that week, even though my service had been canceled nearly two months ago and they hadn't come back since. Again, this was impossible. I've since had another more reputable pool company come take a look at my equipment. They found multiple holes in my filter, likely caused by the lack of maintenance, that needed hundreds of dollars worth of repairs. read more

We had service with Poolie about a year ago and it was hit or miss, depending on which tech showed up. We finally decided to cancel after one of the techs told me off in the backyard. We maintain the pool ourselves with a little help and decided to give Poolie another chance last month. Five stars to one of their supervisors, Jason Long, who came over and absolutely got our pool looking great in two visits. However, it took on a slightly green hue after a bunch of rain, which is when a different pool tech poured 10 pounds of shock, 2 gallons of chlorine, and a bunch of muriatic acid in the pool. it looked like milk for days, I couldn't get anyone to come back out and treat it, and when they finally did they drained 600 gallons of my precious rainwater down the side of my hill. They left the water level below the skimmers with the pump running, and that was enough for me. 2 1/2 weeks later our chlorine is still over 10 PPM and we can't swim. They're supervisors seem really great when you talk on the phone with them, but the weekly service is inconsistent and frankly has wrecked our Pool for almost 3 weeks in the beginning of summer heat. I hired them for a month of service(3 cleanings), because the salesman swore to me that he could get my pool in order without draining and scrubbing it. It was agreed that the first technician would help me remove the pool cover, which they did not and also tried to charge me for a cleaning after they showed up and just left. They have never showed up the day that they should have, besides the first time when they just left. It was also agreed upon by the original salesman that they would use a pump so the gunk at the bottom of the pool would just not be sucked into my filter and then recycled back into the pool once they left, which the last tech., who I did not request, did not even bring. So as of right now, I've only had two cleanings and simply requested a partial refund for the last, which they have ignored and have not responded back to me with! DO NOT PAY UP FRONT IF YOU DO GO WITH THEM!!
