Jason was an awesome and highly knowledgeable tour guide! This was a great tour and allowed us to see a lot of the city that we would never be able to otherwise. He gave us a very interesting history and background of Austin that really kept our attention! The bus was very comfortable and they were very flexible and allowed us to bring lunch on board. Highlights were we got to see the inside of the capital building, ans this cool graffiti art area and stop at a food truck for a complimentary frozen oreo covered banana - yum! First time in Austin & I wanted an overview of the city with an emphasis on its history. The Austin Visitors Center was easy to find and had the tour i was looking for. Took the Best of Austin aka Real Austin aka Bucket List tour. It is 2 hours that brings you all around Austin for an overview that includes getting off the van at a few spots like the congress, hope outdoor and the Austin postcard mural. Ike was our guide and he was funny, knowledgeable and considerate. We had two people that are in their late 80s and Ike was very patient and accommodating. What I loved the most is that the tour brings you to the few must-go spots that are pretty far from each other all over Austin within 2 hours. If you want to go on an Austin tour, this is it! read more

Evan is a charismatic tour guide who as a local really wants you to get to know the area and state well like a local and makes great suggestions based on what you want even after the tour is over. The bbq and wine tour was amazing and fun and delicious. But the people and the guide are what really made it special and I would have to say if there's one thing you do while traveling to Austin it's this tour or any of their amazing tours. You will get way more out of your trip guaranteed. read more

This is a nice low key 2-2.5 hour tour! We saw the capital building and got to go inside and learn some history. We stopped at a park with a great skyline also. We also saw the famous postcard wall art! We even got to stop for gelato! Our tour guide Jax was really really great. She had great energy the whole time and let us go a little late because there was some traffic. She was a great resource for recommendations on all things fun to do in Austin! read more

We did a barbecue and winery tour to Driftwood with a tour guide named Marty. He was amazing. The tour was relatively simple, to the Salt Lick Barbecue and two wineries, The wines were better than I expected (who knows about Texas wines????) . But the highlight was Marty's knowledge of the area and his way of making us feel comfortable, welcomed and interested in Austin. We'll be back. read more

Avery was our guide and she was great! She is very personable and funny and knows a lot about Austin. It was a very small group all in a nice closed vehicle so very comfortable. I recently traveled to Austin for a short weekend trip. Austin Detours offers a variety of tours for whatever you might be looking for. I wanted to make the best out of the little time I had there, so I decided to go on the The Real Austin Tour. This was a bang for the buck (only $35) and I got to see plenty of my to-do items in just a couple hours! First off, the tour guide, Ike was fantastic! He was full of knowledge, energy and made the tour lots of fun. He encouraged conversation amongst everyone so we could make friends along the way. Ten of us loaded the Mercedes van and headed out on the town. We got a brief tour of the beautiful capital, local art spots and even a sweet treat at the end. My favorite part about this tour was that we weren't just sitting in the van the whole time. Although we saw many things as we drove, we still got the opportunity to get out, walk around and take pictures. If you are looking for a great way to explore Austin, I would highly suggest checking out any of the tours they offer! read more

Custom tour of breweries and food trucks. Tour guide was Jason. Exemplary business with extremely nice employees. Everyone on our ten person private tour commented on how unusual it was to have such a convenient and easy way to tour breweries and food trucks - and we are locals to begin with! One employee (MJ) traveled ahead of group just to order food and block tables. This was worth the price of admission by itself. The sprinter van was very well kept and new. Jason was a great guide! I will def be using these guys for future adventures. read more

My friends and I did a second tour with this company, this time it was the bus tour around Austin with a really amazing lady named Jax. Again, she did not disappoint. Marty was amazing when we did the salt lick tour and Jax was on the same level of amazing. She was knowledgeable, personable, and her energy was great! I really wish we had more time to enjoy these amazing tours. 100 percent recommend this one too! read more

So I keyed off the Yelp Reviews which of course is a smart choice. At the end of the day where else would you look for local knowledge? A Mercedes van, Steven as our guide and a total of 8 (my party was 4) and we were off and running. Steven, tour guide by day and apparently a comedian by night knew his Austin history and lore. We stopped first at the Capitol where I have been before. It was a good stop and Steven knew his stuff. We then wound our way to an artist graffiti place that was intriguing. We then drove our way off the beaten path to a few interesting neighborhoods and stopped on SoCo for delicious cupcakes. A drive through Rainey St and a bunch of interesting trivia wound up the two hour tour. Good value and excellent tour. read more

Steven is amazing! My friends and I are spending a weekend in Austin, and because we didn't have a car, we chose to utilize Austin Detours. It was a lot of fun, and I really appreciated the tour of the Capitol and the history behind it. Those were things that I honestly would have never done if I didn't take the tour! He also bought our group cupcakes, which was really sweet (haha) of him. Definitely recommend going with Austin Detours if you're looking for a guide! read more

Visited Austin for the first time with my husband to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. Decided to do a city tour and found Austin Detours online. Our experience with Jax, Ruben and Evan was great. They all know so much (interesting things) about Austin and their enthusiasm left me wanting to stay longer to learn more about this great "weird" city that I've grown to love. We rode around for two hours with 2 other couples in a van and it was perfect. The time flew by. I didn't want it to end. I would've loved hanging out with Jax, Ruben and Evan all day. Jax even treated us to gelato at one of her favorite food trucks in Barton Springs. How sweet was that!! We definitely will return someday to Austin to enjoy all there is to enjoy. Thank you, Jax, Ruben and Evan. It was a great pleasure meeting you all...truly!!! read more

My daughter Kasey and I had the best time on Ike's tour! He was witty, friendly and had a great personality plus he had a wealth of information up his sleeve! The air conditioned van was very comfortable. Ike brought us to many sites including the Capitol, Lady Bird Lake, Zilker Park, notable neighborhoods, etc. and he even bought us all delicious cupcakes as a special treat which were fantastic! My daughter and her husband recently moved to Austin from Southern California. This tour was her gift to me and I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hours as did she! Ike made the tour both educational and a lot of fun. He gave us many recommendations of places to eat, where to go for fun entertainment, great places to hang out and also where good shopping was. I highly recommend this tour with Ike. He was the best tour guide ever! Exceptional! read more

My family and I joined the live music crawl with Chris Gonzales. We visited the famous Continental Club for jazz, White Horse for country music, and ended at the Skylark Lounge to hear a soulful former Voice contestant. The selection of music venues and genres was refreshingly diverse. Artists were talented and passionate in their craft. We enjoyed drinks at all venues and tacos at the White Horse, where we also had the opportunity to practice two-stepping. As a local resident and artist, Chris was knowledgeable and had a clear love for Austin and its musicians, offering us a meaningful narrative during our bus ride that included important inflections in Austin's music history. Overall throughout the evening, I felt more like a friend visiting from out-of-town than a drop-in tourist. As a usual tour skeptic, I would highly recommend Austin Detours and Chris! read more

I was a hero with my team for setting up a day with Austin Detours! We did the BBQ and Brew tour! It was awesome that we could just show up, board the bus, and relax! Our tour guides were awesome and it was fun that they set up some competitions for us - that way we could socialize but still had structure to help us have fun without the leaders of my team trying to do all of the work! Highly highly recommend for team bonding or a team reward. I am so happy we did this. read more

It was my boyfriend and I's first time in Austin and we were so glad to be able to experience a tour to Salt Lick BBQ and 2 wineries along with our wonderful tour guides Henry and Marty! We both felt very welcomed and I definitely recommend this tour if you love wine and trying out Texas-style BBQ! You won't be disappointed (: read more

Loved the Music Crawl. My friend and I wanted to experience the music scene but had no idea where to start so we opted for this tour and had a great time. #1 Sunny is great guide. Informative, enthusiastic, you could really see his love for music. Our three stops were: White Horse: traditional honkey tonk. I am not a country music fan, but this place was so fun. Great band and it was so entertaining watching people dance. Some just dance, others do serious two stepping. ABGBs. Beer garden with music. Tomar and the FCs were awesome. Great R&B/Soul Music. The only downside of the tour is you are on a time limit, so we were sad to leave this one. We didn't eat, but this stop gave tour mates time to order a pizza. Saxon Pub - final stop - Monte Montgomery - singer/songwriter guitarist. Cool, small pub for watching music. While we drove from venue to venue Sunny also gave us some insight into Austin, the neighborhoods we drove through, and of course the music! read more

We chartered a private tour for our business meeting that we were hosting with some of our top clients. Our Austin Detours tour was excellent and wowas our guide Cliff. We've been living in Austin for the past five years or so and had relatives in town from Tennessee come to visit. We took the tour with them to keep them company thinking we'd seen all the places, done all the things but boy were we wrong! Steven, our tour guide, was a blast. He had a ton of great little tidbits of information about places we'd been a dozen times that made us see them in a new light. It helps he is an Austin native and was able to tell us all about neighborhoods and locales we'd only heard about in passing. Lots of fun photo stops with the famous murals we've all seen but never visited. We'll probably do it again next time we have guests in town! Other Pluses included that the tour takes place in a smaller van, only eleven seats total which makes for a great small group atmosphere. No problems hearing or feeling like you're being corralled like you would in a larger group. read more
