This place is a gem! Rustic and cozy. Wonderful ambiance and excellent service by Antonio, our server, and CJ, the manager, who welcomed us like family. We truly felt like we were home, which was nice because we were celebrating a pre-wedding family dinner. The food was wonderful and delicious. We started with a few appetizers to share and most of us got pasta entrées but some also ordered the steak, the pork, and risotto with wine overflowing to multiple toasts of course! We finished with an array of desserts that was a perfect finish to a perfect meal.
Came here to have brunch on 1/10 with a party of three people. Upon walking in, I immediately noticed the rustic and spacious design of the restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor patio seatings. They do private events. To start, we ordered phony negroni (their non alcoholic drinks) and grapefruit soda along with focaccia bread. The phony negroni was a bit more on the bitter side. Love the hint of sea salt on the bread! We ordered spaghetti carbonara, pappardelle and Taglierini Cacio e Pepe, and side of fries. I recommend the carbonara and the bread!
Second time coming here and so glad i did. Group of 4 for 2 of our birthdays! This place does not disappoint!! Stunning atmosphere, spectacular service and amazing food!! Love this place. Victoria was our server and did an awesome job of taking care of all our needs. My girlfriend ordered the pork chop which came out nice and juicy and crispy. The dish is just a chop but it's HUGE. My niece ordered the crab risotto- so good she really didn't want to share. I wanted the special seared scallops but they had ran out so Victoria recommended the mafaldine chestnut pasta with veal - OMG - so filling and delicious! Brandino so good with a side of smashed potatoes. We all enjoyed everything about all of our dishes. The freshness and the presentation of each one was perfection. Dessert was so so yummy!!! Wish i could remember what we had! But id come back just for the chocolate cure little crispy cake. And what was the icing on the cake - they comped it for the two birthday girls which was much appreciated! Always a good experience here and so glad the menu was different from my first visit. Pleasantly surprised
For a girls night we decided on Aurora. The ambiance is comfortable. It's earthy and green. Beware of steps lol. Food was delicious. Not pictured is the broccolini and roasted potatoes. Each pasta was savory and delicious. Service was quick and kind. Drinks were refreshing. Both with gin. The drinks in the glass are on the alcohol free menu but they are modifiable. It's like a spritz. Overall food was delicious and it's a cute place.
Fantastic night for my friend's bday night. We were party of 8. And it was so beautiful table sets. We got a bunch of meals and everything delicious and their cocktails are amazing. The waiter was so lovely and friendly. All the food was great. Would love to try brunch time.
My friends all voted we have dinner here. The food ,and ambience were perfection. This place honestly took me back to the best summer days I spent in Italy truly. Every dish was truly incredible. Between all the dishes it was so hard to decide which was my favorite. I'm low key obsessed with brick wall interiors too. I truly loved everything about it. Truly a great night to unwind with the best company. I need to give a shout out to the hazelnut gelato so good!!! Will definitely be returning.
Came here on a weekend for lunch. The space is quite big so we probably didn't need a reservation, but we booked one just in case. There was an Italian family sitting next to us chatting with the staff in Italian, which gave us the impression this might be a solid spot for Italian food. We ordered the squid ink cavatelli and the paccheri. The cavatelli was tasty, but the paccheri was disappointing--it came sitting in a pool of oil and was really under-seasoned. Just felt like it was missing something. We wanted to ask for some salt, but our server was hard to get hold of. Tried to get her attention a few times but no luck, and it took quite a while before she noticed us. Overall, a bit underwhelming given the vibe and the menu.
Gelato Aurora sits on the corner of Grand Street and Wythe Avenue. You can grab your gelato and enjoy it at one of the outdoor seats. They serve fresh, homemade gelato and sorbet in a variety of flavors. Today, I went with the coconut gelato light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. Next time, I think I'll go with a cup instead. The gelato was dripping down the sides, which made me wonder if it was cold enough. I know the weather's been hot lately, but that definitely stood out to me.
Aurora feels like you just step into Italy for a moment in time. It's cozy both yet super spacious as it has both indoor and outdoor seating. I love that they can seat large groups. Our table consisted of 6 adults and 4 kids. Service was timely, and food was delicious. Writing only on the dishes I had - the Arancini was a bit on the smaller side but the highlight was the black garlic truffle aioli sauce. The pasta was overall good and the oxtail was super tender. From a separate visit, i ordered their gelato that's located right outside! I would say the quality of the cone can be affected by the humidity in the outdoor air. Overall, it's awesome, with some seating for the patrons.
Fourth time here in a span of 4 years and why do I feel it gets better as the years go on? Ambiance is aaaaaalways great and intimate; with friends or as a date night. Service is too good. Tonight we had Suzie and she was just the sweetest and most attentive. And finally: the food. Delicious! Menu has always been different each time I went, so although bittersweet I find comfort knowing I get to try something new on their menu. Presentation and size is modest, which I loooooove because the taste is where I'm wow'ed! Can't wait for the 5th visit (:
I came here with a group of friends for dinner on a Sunday evening. The covered outdoor area is gorgeous and such a vibe with the greenery and glass windows. Even though it was raining, it was so nice out there. Unfortunately, we were seated inside. As for food, our table shared the Croquettes ($18) and Shishito ($12). The croquettes came with 3 oblong pieces, which were easily shareable. These were solid and cheesy, which I enjoyed. On the other hand, the shishito peppers were way too spicy (at least the ones I had were). They were not very enjoyable at all. For my main meal, I had the Squid Ink Risotto ($35), which was on their special menu. The risotto isn't soft and creamy like I was expecting and the flavor was ok. It was a pretty dish, but looked better than it tasted. None of the other dishes stood out either as the Cavatelli ($28) was too chewy and doughy while the Bisteccone Steak ($140) was too fatty, especially at that price even though it included two sides. Honestly, not very impressed with the food here sadly.
I have read about the wait times/issues getting into Aurora. I went during a late lunch on a Tuesday with no wait and no one inside. I was seated immediately. They were welcoming. For my starter, I had the arancini, which was hot, cheesy, and filling. Honestly, unless you're with someone, I would skip it, as it took up so much real estate before my main. Other starters include: prosciutto, squash, kale salad, artichokes, octopus, and squid. For entree, I had the braised oxtail pappardelle. The oxtail was tender and juicy, but I felt maybe it needed a little more seasoning. Perhaps I'm expecting too much and being too mouthy, as I realize they don't want to overpower the sugo, which was a rich and tasty sauce. The pasta was perfect al dente. Again, I was so full from the arancini that I couldn't finish it, which was regretful. Other pasta dishes include risotto with truffle and squash, squid ink paccherri with wild shrimp, agnolotti with burrata and wild mushrooms, and strangozzi with spicy nduja, and more. Mains include the burger, Bavette steak, and chicken sandwich. Cocktails were average. The Grand Street, made tie jalapeño infused mezcal, tasted like a well drink. The gin and tonic, made with cucumber and rosemary infused gin, was thin. Service was good, vibe was there. Food was ok. Drinks "meh." I would try again, but wouldn't wait in the lines I've read about.
Came here with some friends and sat outside in their little street! The calamari was delicious and the pasta was perfectly al dente (although I like mine a little overcooked). I ordered the squid ink paccheri (8/10) and it had a good amount of crab but I wish there were more than 4 shrimp in it! I also tried the oxtail from the pappardelle which was tender and flavorful and my other friends got the special which was a lamb bolognese with mushrooms. All the protein was cooked to perfection. Everything was good here but nothing wowed me enough to try to come back again soon. If it's your birthday they should put a candle in your dessert but you have to our base the dessert!
I've been to Aurora twice already and I've been so pleased both times! The outside garden is such a wonderful experience in the Spring. The food is so tasty and unique. There are some standard dishes but they mostly are creative twists on classics. The service was absolutely solid as well. read more

Consistently delicious food, service that exceeds expectations, and a homey and classy ambiance. This has been my go-to spot ever since moving to the area. Their specials are always great. This time I got the truffle agnolotti special which had prosciutto inside and was delicious and Al dente. Not too hard to get a table either. read more
Good spot for brunch/lunch, the reason I like this restaurant is because there's alot of outdoor seating and its beautiful. I'd suggest going here over 12 chairs, 2 hands, sunday and brooklyn if you're doing a walk-in. Brunch restaurants are usually swamped during weekend afternoons in Williamsburg, so you'll have a higher chance of getting seated at Aurora. Areas for improvement: They need more waitstaff, usually it'll be a long time before you get your order taken or get the check. What went well: The food comes out pretty quick, you can also sit at the bar, however I'd recommend sitting outside on a nice day if possible (although these seats seem to go first). What's good to get 1) Bone Marrow 2) Short Rib 3) Tagliatelle 4) Carbonara What's okay 1) French toast - does the job but there's other offerings here that are better tasting. Expect to spend $50 a person without any alcohol (if you get 1 appetizer and 2 entrees) between two people. read more

Went to Aurora for lunch. Overall the food was good. The ambiance was nice and the service was good. Food: for appetizer we order the fried calamari and shrimp platter. It was based in a tempura coating and it taste fresh and delicious. The Aurora hamburger was nicely cooked, was juicy and taste pretty good. But it wasn't something that I would go back for. The lentil soup was very good. Ambiance: the ambiance was nice, it was not crowded. Service: the service was great. The waitress came a few times to check how we were doing. Between her and the busser they made sure our water was filled and that our plates were retrieved once finished. I recommend Aurora to couples, friends, and families. We had a very good experience here. read more

The energy on Grand Ave is just amazing.. Dinner with my fav and this was his choice. Reservations were booked and we waited about 5-10 minutes before being seated in the inner dining room. The place was packed. The room was filled with a number of different cultures and it was cool. I did not like being seated so close to other parties but I guess you have to maximize space when you can. We tried the Octopus for appetizer which was a tease as far as portion. The papperdelle had a very odd smell and it may have been the padano and I did not like the texture of pasta.. it was hard. The steak and potatoes were delish. Everything was small in portion and while I did enjoy myself, I did not like having to be so close to the party sitting next to me. Still a great dining experience read more
Where to begin? Aurora will now and always be a treasured restaurant for me as it was where we decided to get married. We had been to eat a few times prior and loved the atmosphere and how attentive and kind the service was. This rang true 10 fold for our wedding ceremony and reception at the restaurant. We did a brunch wedding and 10/10 would recommend. We had gorgeous weather, gorgeous décor and fantastic food and drink. It went without saying that it was the best 'wedding meal' our guests have ever had. For our cocktails and wine we heard rave reviews for the Lorenzo, the Belgian beer and hazy IPA, and the white wine (pecorino). For the food - many want the recipe for the caccioe pepe, raved about the preperation of the steak & wanted to take some of the chocolate torte with the pistachio ice cream home with them. The team at Aurora was some communicative and really made for a pleasurable and stress-free wedding experience. We cannot wait to go back and celebrate our anniversary (and other excitement moments!) here for years to come! read more
Cute place but if I'm being honest I was slightly underwhelmed. The food was very mediocre. Unfortunately nothing really stood out regarding food. -I started with dessert of course (tiramisu) and it was tasty but not great. -charred octopus was good but under seasoned -prosciutto platter was a complete waste of money DONT NOT GET. Seemed thrown together and bland. A blind man could have made that. Def take this one off the menu or make some upgrades. -lamb chops (on special) over cooked. Ordered medrare, some came out medium and others medium well. And the meat was very very under seasoned. -squid pasta was light and airy full of flavor. Yummy for sure. My fav thing was the Negroni, made with a espresso infused gin that was absolutely wonderful. I would rate this Negroni as the best one I've ever had. Also I was a little turned off by the way they close out their checks. The server basically sat the small system in the middle of the table and walked away. We had to process ourselves out and that takes away from the experience. Pretty soon we won't need servers right? It should be a full experience from start to finish. We I go back? Aurora was a very solid brunch place, I ordered the brisket, polenta, with the bone marrow. I thought it was delicious, but definitely on the richer side. The patio was a pleasant place to have lunch and it was much more spacious and well lit than the inside of the restaurant. It was quite empty on a Sunday afternoon around 12. Our meal dining time took a total of 45 minutes. At no point did we feel rushed or anything. I would come here again read more
Great cozy spot in Brooklyn! Came here for a wedding and so reviewing for staff and catering services (not the regular menu). Food came out fresh and family style. Food was delicious, I especially loved their seafood pasta dish. Desserts are light and not super sweet. Affogato is bomb (as a coffee lover, the espresso on top of a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream will always be a hit). Interior is super rustic and for those looking to book small intimate weddings, this is the place to do it without needing to fluff it up too much! Garden seating provides ample sunlight to small ceremonies and creates for dramatic photographs! Highly recommend! I will def be back for their regular service menu :) read more

This restaurant is so pretty and the food was great too! I do however wish that the menu had more pasta options and more variety for vegetarians. Nonetheless, the ricotta cheese bread and the truffle mushroom ravioli we had was delicious! Seating was very cramped and tables were placed very close to eachother. read more

Wonderful meal in a quaint setting. It was a Saturday and we go there just as brunch service was almost ending. Luckily we ordered quickly and had a great meal. A little pasta, antipasto and burger with fries. And the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was magnificent. Rich, creamy and warm and topped with homemade whipped cream. Came here for brunch wanting pasta and let me tell ya, did not disappoint. This place was super cute and there is an outside section and the weather has been great lately to do that. I generally don't like mezcal but I tried the Grand St. because I saw jalapeño infused and pineapple and it turned out pretty good-the mezcal wasn't bad and kinda tasted like a jalapeño/spicy margarita. The pasta was so good-healthy option and nice sauce. French fries were decent, kind of reminded me of McDonald fries (which I love!) read more

Came on a Sunday. Reservations were for 2:30 but we arrived at 1:30. The host was gracias. Indoor seating was plentiful with most guests seated outdoors. Due to a menacing Bee we requested to be seated inside. The drinks were not strong so I'd say save your money or get two entrees instead. I got the pasta which was amazing but slightly cold. My friend had the burger which she loved. We will definitely be back and this time I will order two entrees read more
AMAZING!! Do not hesitate to go here and ask to sit in the garden :) it's heated and beautiful! We had a reservation for 715pm on a Sunday and got seated promptly. For appetizers, we got the whipped ricotta toast (still dreaming about this one...) and the rice balls. The rice balls were so cheesy and warm when we cut into them! Our waiter was nice enough to bring out some bread and olive oil as well once we asked. For drinks, I got their version of the Margarita which was good. However, it could've been stronger but it was not sweet which I preferred. For the main entree, i chose the special pasta with truffle and my fiancé got the squid ink seafood pasta. We both enjoyed our dishes, but the squid ink pasta was a bit too "tomato saucy" for my liking. The couple who we ate with also got the truffle pasta and the risotto, and they enjoyed it. Will come back here when I'm craving a nice Italian dinner! read more

I love, LOVE a good Italian meal. It's a treat I only allow myself to binge on rare occasions. This is the only pasta restaurant I've come back to after Carbone. We are parents so we were eating a pretty early dinner. This was around 6:00 pm so we were able to walk in without a reservation and got a very good table in their outdoor patio area. Their outdoor patio is done up very pretty, whimsical with foliage and fairy lights - I could see this being a very viable event venue if you are celebrating a special moment in your life. About 20 mins after we were seated, patrons trickled in and filled up the space. About 30 mins later, there was a waitlist. In the meanwhile, we put in an order of three pastas, a beer for my husband and a marg for me. The pastas we got were the saffron taglerini with porcini mushrooms, the spinach pappardelle and a cacio e pepe for my daughter and lord, were they all good. A good home made pasta makes me emotional, it can sometimes be the answer to all my problems and this one was exactly what I needed after a long hard week. I cannot stress enough the importance of pasta that is cooked just right and the right amount of a simple yet flavorful sauce. My usually picky daughter polished off her plate, if that's any indication. Go to Aurora for your cheat day meal. Hell, go to Aurora for every meal. read more

Solid pasta with a buzzy, energetic environment and slow service. Seating in the enclosed patio was a bit cramped, but the main problem was there was only one overworked waiter running around serving everyone outdoors so it took almost 15 min to take our order, and then another 20 for the food to arrive. We came here because gluten free pasta was advertised, but she suffered from some apparent cross-contamination unfortunately. read more

On my first visit 7+ years ago I came for dinner. Although nothing was awful nothing was worth writing about and waiting until I could give them another go. Dinner: We started with some fried squid. The calamari (which took me an my partner a while to understand the title listed) was lightly fried but unfortunately unevenly salted and far too salty. The flavor was also very simple, not much flavor on the batter and none on the squid. The Octopus was a just meh. Subtle flavoring seemed to be the theme here but I did enjoyed it although I with it had more flavor. As a main I went with a special, seafood risotto, again just a tad bit underwhelming. It was satisfying enough to want to finish it; later at home where I could hook it up. Fast forward- Brunch: luckily the we found a reservation on OpenTable as the restaurant was just about packed. We sat in a nicely heated and clean patio area. To warm up a bit more on this windy day I got their take on a Negroni. Which I believe I had last time I was here, and it was delicious. I do wish the mezcals smokiness was the more forward flavor but the coffee flavor was definitely welcomed. We shared a small gem salad which for me was the highlight of the meal (past and present). The pink peppercorns where such a lovely touch. Although it was warm where we sat it was unfortunate that they rushed to bring us or mains literally one second after giving us the salad. My food was cold which with everything else wrong with it didn't leave a pleasant feeling in my mouth. My partner got her bennys and loved it except for the salty tomato. I had the spinach omelette. I was going to get it whites only but I'm glad I didn't because the yolk was clearly needed in this bland dish. It was salvaged by the tomatoes my partner couldn't eat and the very mild flavored shrooms. I wish I had some of those tasty peppercorns on the table and not a random assortment of sugars. I will say this I was a bit nauseous earlier and having very subtle flavors is always welcomed when I feel as such, so that's a plus... Overall it's a lovely spot, close to the waterfront where you can take a lil stroll. The food is underwhelming but it's perfect if you aren't in the mood to be too wowed. With all that the burg has to offer this might not be top of the list but you can make your way, eventually, maybe. read more

Been at Aurora multiple times for Dinner but what really impressed me is their brunch food! Especially the french toast and the eggs Benedict. Best you'll find in Williamsburg if not in all of Brooklyn! Especially the outdoor area is pretty beautiful. read more
Overall rating: 4.6 I've been wanting to go here for awhile but I'm rarely this far west in Williamsburg. I walked by once and absolutely fell in love with the plant wall. I went for brunch and got these delicious French Toast. Service and food was fine. But! I somehow lost my wallet soon after in the day and I was so concerned. When I called the restaurant after just by pure chance, they said they didn't see it. Later that week, I was about to give up and call my banks when the restaurant called me again. I just thought that was so nice of them explaining how they found it. And I was able to get it that day. I had some foccacio and tiramisu that was so good! It was kinda interesting how the bar area feels different than the outside. This seems like a nice group brunch spot with friends. I would recommend giving it a try! read more

Stopped in as we walked around looking for a good place to have dinner. Waited only 10 mins for a table as a walk in on Friday night around 8p. That's a great sign. Menu is a bit small. Wish it had 2 more pasta dishes on it [lamb ragu rigatoni] but I wasn't mad. We got the Ravioli and the Squid Ink Paccheri. Both were top tier. Date Night certified. Friend Night Out Approved. I'll definitely be back here. I have to try that Mezcal drink...it looked fire. read more
Aurora is a standout spot in Williamsburg, with fantastic Italian food and great service to match. The prosciutto and burrata starter was phenomenal. Honestly, I would have been thrilled to have a slab of the burrata as my entire meal, it was the perfect taste and texture. For entrees, we tried two different pasta dishes - one with a bolognese, and one with a ragu. Both were fantastic, with al dente pasta and great flavors in each of the sauces. Servers were incredibly attentive and friendly, and the seating options were great - a nice indoor space, as well as a private patio and more outdoor seating in front of the restaurant. All in all a great Italian restaurant that isn't going to break the bank! read more

We returned and once again enjoyed every bite! I got the same pasta dish because it was that good the last time and I was carving it! I got their Squid Ink Paccheri with wild shrimp, lump crab meat, tomato sugo, chili, and rustic breadcrumbs. It was absolutely delicious! We sat inside this time and I actually liked it better. This place is solid. I came here with my friend and we got seated on the heated patio. The vibe here is so nice and it's vibrant with lots of life I started with the purpose and my friend got a salad. The octopus was very flavorful and tender I was very happy. For entree I got a very good pasta dish and ended the meal with a cappuccino while my friend got a dessert he thoroughly enjoyed. We both also got the house red wine which was very smooth and flavorful. The waitstaff were courteous and on point I will definitely be coming back. read more

Like always never disappoints. Love coming here the outdoor seating area is quiet, service is always great and employees are attentive. Went for a quick lunch and ordered the kale salad with the grilled shrimp was nervous about this but it was surprisingly very good, balanced and the dressing was creamy, shrimp was so fresh and had a nice sear to it. Also ordered the pasta with the oxtail and omg so so good! Very flavorful smooth and just creamy. The drinks were also amazing love how simple the menu is here but yet the food is always flavorful and fresh! read more
3.5 I got the cacio e pepe and my boyfriend got the Bolognese. Both were firm, perfectly al dente noodles, but I felt like something was missing. Cacio e pepe (first time trying it) tasted exactly as it should. I don't know if it was worth $18, but I would likely not come back for this again. The Bolognese was ok as well. Not much that I was impressed by. The prosciutto and burrata was also just satisfactory. I thought that the burrata was really mild tasting. Prosciutto was standard, and it came with two slices of focaccia, I think. Overall, kind of meh food in my opinion. Not sure if this is because I don't like Italian, or if there was a lot more that I was expecting out of the price that I was paying. Setup was beautiful though, and the service was good. They did check in with us several times if we were happy with our food. Would recommend if you want to impress a date or have a strong craving for some chewy pasta. read more

Wanted a nice restaurant by the water in Williamsburg and this restaurant was perfect for just that. The outdoor garden was really beautifully set up, perfect for a lunch date. Hard to give the place 5 stars because our food took incredibly long to come, maybe it had been an hour overall until we received our main entree. Got the chicken sandwich which was really delicious, and the pasta was good but not great. Definitely recommend getting the croquettes if you're even considering appetizers! Giving this place a 4/5 because of the ambiance and cool vibes of the restaurant - despite the slow slow service. Was recommended this restaurant by a Williamsburg local and I'd recommend it to someone else, as well though. read more

I came here last night with a group of six. Getting seated was a bit of a mess because their internet went offline and they couldn't access everyone's bookings. The host was also decently unfriendly when asked where the rest of my party was seated but we'll forgive that. The food was presented beautifully and was extremely fresh and carefully prepared. I ordered the panzanella salad which was tasty but lacked mozzarella and was a little low on the crusty bread / vegetable ratio. The side of vegetables with squash and eggplant was also delicious although it was lukewarm. The wines were good, I asked for a Pinot Noir recommendation and it was brought to the table and was perfectly acceptable. I'd definitely go back, I love the outside dining. read more

Very cute spot in South Williamsburg. We came here on a Wednesday night around 10 PM and was seated right away. This place has all the options for seating-- indoor, outdoor, and even an indoor/outdoor situation in a greenhouse. VERY CUTE. Great for a date. At the time I visited they had some very tasty sounding daily specials -- the peach salad sounded very enticing but we ended up going with the Tuscan kale salad which didn't disappoint. We also got the octopus as an appetizer and the way they paired it with tangerines and hummus made the dish unbelievably delicious and unique. My friends and I ordered the cacio e pepe pasta and the squid ink pasta. Both were good and I recommend getting a side of red pepper flakes. I was even able to use the leftover kale salad to mix in with my pasta to elevate it. The cocktails are pretty good -- I recommend getting the domino if you're in the mood for a margarita but long for one without a heavy hand of sour mix. Their margaritas are skillfully made with fresh squeezed grapefruit instead. We weren't given a dessert menu (not too sure why maybe it's because we got there when they were closing in about an hour) but the table next to us was served desserts and they looked delicious. Not giving it five stars because when we tried to start by ordering our appetizers we were told that we had to order everything at once and we didn't really get an explanation as to why. Didn't find anyone who served us to be friendly just more so doing their job but that could've been the "end of the night we want to go home" energy. read more
New Yorkers don't kill me but this is literally the one place in New York where I've found genuine great service. The staff was welcoming , laid back, nice and attentive. I am not one to crave the attention of the staff but kindness is important and this place has it all! Food was awesome , please have the vanilla ice cream and the oxtail pasta , it's the best!
