The select of Sushi and Dim Sum on the AYCE menu is quite good and the items were of reasonably good quality if not exceptional. Decor is pleasant but could be a bit mellower. The drawback here was the service - they seem to have a lot of trouble getting orders correct. read more

I want a place like this in Seattle! i was visiting some cousins in Hamilton when one of them got married recently and we came here on my last night in town. Super reasonable, it's about $20 for all you can eat form their menu: dim sum, teppanyaki, sushi, and other Asian dishes. I loved the variety. A word to the wise: be clear if you only want ONE order of something. The waiter may just bring out 2 plates of something for the table when you were the only one who wanted to try it in the first place. So while my friends and I were in Niagara Falls we were craving dim sum and we didn't want to drive super far to where I usually go when I visit my relatives in Canada. We fell upon this place it's a little less than an hour from Niagara Falls and at first we didn't know what to think, an all you can eat dim sum and sushi place is so out of the ordinary. Although I was skeptical my cravings for dim sum were pretty big so we decided to give it a try. Although it's dim sum menu is small, I overall LOVE this place. It's such a good price for an all you can eat place and had relatively good quality food! Love how contemporary the place was and all the orders are placed on an iPad which serves as a menu. This place is one of my staples with my co-workers who enjoy AYCC restaurants. (All You Can CRAM) They have a great selection of excellent food, but make sure you get everything you asked for. They often "forget" when you're with larger groups. Don't be all polite/western at this place. Wave your arms at the server and ask again. If you sit politely and wait in your passive-aggressive stupor giving the servers cut-eye, they won't know what the heck your problem is. Wave your arm, ask again for what you missed. It will appear, and you will be happy. The quality of food is excellent. It's not award winning but it is tasty with a fantastic variety. $19.99 for AYCC dinner. Awesome! read more

Omg yum, who doesn't love all-you-can eat sushi and ordering on fancy ipads? Although I've only been in Hamilton for 3 months, I can venture to say August 8 is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the area (although coming from Vancouver, I'm kind of a Japanese food snob). If you're not ordering all you can eat, they have the usual selection of rolls, sashimi, tempura, salads, soups, hands rolls etc. AND DIM SUM! This one is a little strange, yet somehow they make it work. I tried their shrimp dumplings and hot and sour soup, and I have to say, definitely a fan. Their rolls are massive and generally a great deal, ranging between $3 for your basic California roll to $11-12 for their most complicated. Usually I can order a soup and a roll and be completely satisfied. 5 pieces of salmon sashimi is only $5-6, so if you're looking for something light, you can definitely order some soup, edamame and sashimi, and still feel relatively full. In terms of all you can eat, their lunch is under $16 (which is an amazing deal), and their dinner is $26.99 (kind of pricey after tax and tip). I've gotten both before, and I really wish I had been more hungry for the all you can eat dinner. However, they don't have a limit on the number of sashimi pieces you can order, like usual all you can eat places. They also don't really charge you for leftovers (just don't be wasteful)! Food comes out pretty quickly, and everything tastes pretty fresh. In Hamilton, I've also been to Sapporo, which I thought was pretty good as well, especially their sashimi, however I prefer the atmosphere, service and options at August 8. Would I come again? Who ever thought of putting sushi & dim sum together is an absolute genius in my books. For years my friends and I always argued about either going out for sushi or dim sum. It was always one or the either - but now we can have both!! The best part about August 8 is there is no compromise to quality when they decided to join them together. I've been going to this August 8 even before they decided to add dim sum items to the menu and I can say the sushi quality has stayed the same and the dim sum dishes are just as good as the ones served at restaurants specializing in dim sum. They're fried shrimp rolls, tripe, and chicken feet are always spot on and are just as good as some of the best dim sum places I've been. The service is always pretty good as well. The food comes out fast and I always have a full glass of tea. There is another location in Burlington and now Oakville but I prefer the Hamilton location because there execution of some of the dishes are slightly different in Burlington. read more

Welcome to another "all you can eat" sushi place. This establishment doesn't qualify as a "good sushi" place for the following reasons: 1. Limited seating 2. Limited menu 3. Long waiting times for orders 4. Sub par Japanese food 5. Untrained Chinese cooks making Japanese food. 6. Being ignored in a foreign language 7. Variety of different items, not so much variety of sushi. I only like two different kinds of sushi on the menu. Wish they gave single servings of edamame. Their shrimp rolls are really tasty. Dumplings, rice, udon, etc. Are all good. I really like the crab sushi roll. (There's no picture on the menu at this location though). For dessert I get any flavour of ice cream with fried banana. The other deserts are okay, not that great. Very clean environment and service is quick. Although sushi is my favourite at AYCE places, and this place lacks variety of sushis I like, overall this place is better than other AYCE sushi places I've been to. Delicious for Hamilton. One of the best AYCE sushi places in Hamilton, though there are many places in Toronto that are better. The portion sizes are relatively small (they don't stuff the sushi with a ton of rice) or make their maki rolls ginormous. Unlike other iPad restaurants, this place has a nice custom-made casing for each iPad as well. This place is good for groups. My family loves sushi. Pepper and salt for our fried octopus tentacles. Roasted seaweed for red caviars sushi. Wife tea was never empty. Washroom have private cubicles very clean. Tuna sashimi are fresh. Squid are divine. Chicken skewers slight touch of curry spice are soft. Garlic tumbles cubes of teriyaki steak melt in your mouth. My daughter loves her udon, my wife thought sweet and sour soup was touch bit spicy though she have to admit it is her favorite in Hamilton. The AYCE sushi is just ok. Nothing amazing. The dim sum on the other hand was barely passable and everything on the menu was far too greasy even by AYCE standards. What really did this place in was the slow, inattentive and curt service from start to finish. No welcome, stood at the front for a good while before someone noticed and offered a table, nobody returned a smile the entire time. Over an hour for one round of food and no plates were cleared at any time during the meal. Drinks sat empty for 20 minutes lined up at the edge of the table in plain view of manager and staff. No one cared. Attempted to get a servers attention on several occasions as they walked right past the table by politely saying "Excuse me miss" even the manager passed by several times without so much as glancing at the table. Totally ignored. Maybe I went on an off day but I doubt it. I frequent this place almost once a week, so as you might guess I recommend it over all other sushi places in Hamilton - especially on a student budget. ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT You can leave there with tip and tax on your bill for just about $20 flat. The food is great, selection unbeatable and the fact they have dim sum also is an added bonus adding 10s of items to the menu. They also offer takeout! Normally I sing this restaurant's praises but tonight I made reservations which they neglected to reserve all of my seats for. I reserved five seats and they gave me a table for four. They then proceeded to place a seat adjacent to the table with the back facing another table and squeezed my sister in uncomfortably close to another table. All of the seafood was perfectly acceptable but when they brought the table any food that was meant to be warm it came cold and they neglected to bring all of the items we ordered. This has come to be expected when dining at sushi restaurants but when we explained that not all of our food had come they argued with us instead of apologising. They actually proceeded to argue with us for over twenty minutes regarding the quality and warmth of the food. We asked to only pay for two members of our party because only those two actually received any of the food they ordered. They then argued with us more and told us we could pay for just what we ate which we realised right away would have cost us more than five party members considering how much fish my brother and I had eaten. Then the manager came to the table and explained if we didn't pay in full she was going to make our server pay for the remainder of our bill. We argued the point that this wasn't fair to our server and explained that we'd be reporting that to the authorities. Finally, fed up we left $50 on the table and left as they threatened to call the police. Happy Birthday to me. read more

Yes they did but they took our 3 pieces from the 25 piece order to accommodate. Restaurant offered no compensation for charging me unnecessarily for additional pieces. All the times I've been there the food has been great! It's always tasted exactly like it was supposed to, I'm just really happy there's deep fried bananas on the menu... Service is okay, it's faster on weekdays, which makes sense, but they guy who took our order sheet kind of left with it in his apron so it made for a long wait time before asking about it. The remaining waitresses were super understanding though! Looking from the outside, it looks like a really sketchy place, but once you walk in, you get the high quality feel. Perfect! It was a bit of a drive through an endless industrial park off the highway but the GPS did not steer us wrong. We had the lunch AYCE menu around lunchtime on a Thursday. We waited momentarily for a table to be cleaned in the busy restaurant. It took about 90 minutes for us to work our way through the packed menu. Order a handful of items at a time, handing your written list of items to a passing worker. Most items were small except the teriyaki selections seemed to be bigger. Our favorites were the dynamite rolls, white tuna - so delicious, shrimp tempura, fried rice. The Asian desserts were odd on our palate. The ice cream scoops perfectly ended the meal for the kids. We also ordered them various tempura and plain steamed rice. We didn't get any funny looks for also sneaking in peanut butter and crackers for the 6 year-old. read more

Nothing but good things to say, but they are often very cheap and don't give you your full order on certain items. If I ordered 10 saba sushi, they would only bring 3. I would then order 7. I would get 2. Why bother taking my order? Food's great but the service is stupid and annoying. It doesn't matter how decent your food is when you leave pissed off. TIP: ASK TO FILL OUT YOUR OWN ORDER, they give you a sheet with the items and pencil. Its faster than talking to the servers who do not understand any of the words that come out of your mouth and are reciprocally difficult to understand. read more

My bf and I dropped by this place after a morning hike. He craved dim sum and I wanted sushi so this place totally hit the spot for the both of us! We had to wait a little for seating because the place was packed, but it gave us time to look over the menu possibilities. They had some great choices we never had eating at other Japanese AYCE restaurants. The price was a little higher than other places we've been to, but the service and food choices made it worth it. Not the best sushi place in Hamilton, but it does have advantages that other places don't. The biggest advantage it has is that it's sushi AND dim sum, which means that the menu is bigger than most other sushi places, and it offers more variety. Another advantage is that it's beautiful inside - very classy and well decorated. It's all you can eat to the table, which means that it's better to bring bigger groups, especially considering the huge variety on the menu - it'll take quite a few visits before you'll have tried everything, and it's all delicious. I really loved the mango chicken in particular - very delicious. The service is decent, but they do have a tendency to forget that you've ordered an item, or bring you the wrong thing. Sometimes you can also feel a bit ignored if they're busy. The food is worth it though. read more
