Had a reservation for brunch, and this experience did not disappoint! Traveled from out of town, and so really looking forward to experiencing one of Sean Brock's restaurants. The overall ambience of Audrey is so unique and beautiful that when you first arrive you just take in all of the beautiful artwork and the overall vibe and interior is welcoming unique and comfortable. At first we had a table that was not close to the kitchen view so we asked to move and the wait staff was very accommodating to that. Getting to have a view of the chefs in the kitchen was so much fun, and really amazing to watch them at their craft! We had a variety of dishes that were all fantastic! My favorite would probably have to be the cornbread just due to its overall texture consistency, and taste was delicious, I would definitely love to come back for dinner and experience their steak. We did have that as one of the breakfast courses and I thought that it was delicious. The service was wonderful even at times it was a little slow just in the sense of responsiveness to our needs, but everyone was so wonderful and professional. Spontaneously came here with a group of friends after having dinner at Folk. Could be curious about eating the food at Audrey, but photos look okay, and the one drink I had wasn't very impressive. We sat at the empty bar upstairs, which was as swanky as the downstairs section of the restaurant, with multiple seating options. I had whiskey cocktail with malt, port, fig, and ancho reyes. Not my favorite combination of ingredients. Service was decent. Overall I'd be open to giving Audrey a second try! read more

Came here with a group of 4 at 5PM on a Thursday, couldn't make a reservation at any other time, and canceling the reservation within 24 hours would result in $30/person charge. We wanted to do the feast which is required by the entire table. But, one of our party is vegetarian, and they can't alter any of the dishes. They said he could order an a la carte, but that just seems stupid. They wouldn't let the rest of us do the feast, and it's really their fault that they can't do the feast vegetarian, not ours - so they shouldn't ban the entire table from doing the feast when there's a vegetarian at the table. Subtracted a star for this, it's not inclusive and just sort of stupid. Place is quite small but spacious, wooden building with an open kitchen which was pretty cool. Service was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The 4 of us got: - cornbread: liked the butter and cracklins, cornbread was very soft and tasty - sourdough bread: nothing too special, bread was very soft, outer shell was harder but fine - roaster squash: flavorful squash, the flavors blended well - potatoes: very mediocre, nothing special. Would not recommend. - grits: amazing and smooth flavors, well-cooked grits, cured egg yolk was delicious as well - mane mushroom: the clear winner of the spread, the mushroom had an amazing, flavorful crust and the texture of the mushroom was like fatty meat. It was so tasty, and everyone at the table adored this dish. - chicken & dumplings: very tasty as well, chicken was flavorful and soft, not overcooked nor dry. Dumplings were very soft, and the broth was delicious. I loved the broth, so flavorful with the chicken. - butterscotch pudding: surprisingly not overly sweet, very smooth texture, light butterscotch taste - jasmine tea ice cream: super delicious ice cream, very smooth, no ice crystals inside it for sure, and the jasmine tea flavor was extremely strong. Really delicious, my clear favorite out of the desserts - apple cobbler: pretty normal dessert, not super amazing but made well, vanilla ice cream that came with it was smooth. All of this came out to be around $350 which is pretty pricey. Small portions and we ordered two of the grits and two mushrooms, but everyone came out full. Definitely the type of place where we have to order multiple dishes; come with many people so you can try a lot of them! read more

The service and team were great. Unfortunately they couldn't make up from some pretty fundamental flaws with the food - almost all the dishes we ordered had something wrong. The clabbercake under the ham dish was not baked properly resulting in a weird texture. The crackers with the smoked trout were stale. The pork main dish was a really bad cut of meat with an inch of unrendered fat. The grilled catfish was the most interesting and best dish we had but still didn't feel at the level you'd expect from this restaurant. The salad was fine but underwhelming. Pretty disappointed in the quality of the dishes. We did the feast on 12/9 and while it was plenty of food, everything was underwhelming and most every dish was over salted. The best thing we had was the apples and pairing that with the shaved ham. Our primary server was off, couldn't tell us any info about the wines and why we might want to pay more for the elevated wines, and it didn't dawn on him to ask the sommelier--just stared at me waiting for my decision. Then when we got the chicken and dumplings, he dropped the biggest piece of chicken on the table. Said nothing, wiped it up and left. Would have liked some chicken with my dumplings but oh well. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and even gave us some great live music recommendations for after. I expected a lot more from Sean Brock establishment and a nearly $500 dinner. Came here because it was Sean Brock's restaurant. He was on Chefs Table on Netflix FYI. The BBQ Lions Mane Mushroom was my favorite. Honestly thought it would be better or at least I hoped. Still a great restaurant. My friends and I were gonna get the "The Feast" which is like a tasting menu but served family style. I didn't like that the size of the steak you would get at the final course if you ordered "The Feast" it would be the same size. That means whether you had 2 or 6 people, your table would only get the same size steak. Everyone at the table needs to order "The Feast" if you want to order it. read more

Audrey was incredible! Every aspect of this restaurant is well thought out and special. First stop of the night was to view the lab where they experiment and ferment their foods and drinks. This was absolutely spectacular to see! Next stop was the bathroom upstairs. I should have had my phone as it was an experience in itself! After being seated (make a reservation well in advance because it is extremely difficult to walk in on the weekend) we had a zero proof wine made by Sean Brock. This was infused with Elderberry and was delicious! We got the appetizers, fried apples and cornbread. The apples were savory and are a must get. The cornbread was great and I would have eaten the entire skillet if I could have! The main dishes that we got were the catfish and the chicken n dumplings. The catfish was breaded with a crunchy outside on top of turnip greens and a peanut sauce. This was so tasty! The chicken n dumplings had a buttermilk dumpling and was some of the best dumpling I've ever had. Taylor was our server and Sarah took us on the tour of the facility where we saw the lab. They were both incredible and made the entire experience memorable. We will be coming back here! read more

I appreciate the effort put into the food, but most dishes are over complicated and don't deliver. The short rib is by far the best entree on the menu, and may be the best thing in the restaurant. The smoked chicken was very good, as was the catfish. I wasn't crazy about the squash soup, and I would avoid the shrimp and grits at all costs. A simple and straightforward Gouda grits recipe goes a long way. Sweet potatoes were good, but were puréed to baby food consistency. Brussel sprouts were average, rice was bland. In summary, just because a dish is locally sourced or complicated doesn't mean people will come back for it. Audrey needs more go-to menu staples that the people will crave read more

My wife and I went for our ten year anniversary and had high expectations that, honestly, didn't feel fair going in. We've never dropped $300 for a meal, so in some ways it felt impossible that a restaurant (even one as hyped as Audrey) could live up to that price tag. Wrong. We were genuinely, truly floored. The space is open and beautiful but comfortable; not pretentious or stuffy in the slightest. The intentionality of the staff was wonderful and I noticed that they actually seemed to like each other. The chefs would laugh in the kitchen and the servers would chat with one another without ever ignoring the tables - as the diner you were included in the experience. Sounds cliche, but it felt like a family dining room! Annnnnnd the food. Oh my word. I have never in my life had the flavors and combinations I had at Audrey. The grits, the salad, the freaking bread rolls; all things that sound so mundane but I will remember them for years. A special shoutout to the dessert team! They made this jasmine tea ice cream with a salty-cocoa-nib-thing on top that may have been the single most interesting and delicious thing we ate all night. Thank you so much to the team at Audrey! To start, I loved the ambiance of this place. It feels cozy and homey, and the folk art adorning the walls and dried flowers hanging from the ceiling really set the scene for the Appalachian-inspired cuisine. I was told that some people love it and some people don't. I left here feeling 50/50 with their service and food. The ambiance is exceptional. It has a great vibe!But, considering that the TV show that won most Emmy's this year was "The Bear", I would suggest to the kitchen staff to watch it so that they can better understand how every aspect of a restaurant experience depends on the other to have positive outcome, if they want to call themselves "the best restaurant " in town. First time at Audrey, it's been on my list for a minute. I'll start with the positive review. I thought the food was extremely good. I was pleased with a well-versed menu, plenty of options, but not overwhelming. The cocktails we had were delicious. The salad was wonderful, cornbread made from blue corn and delightful butter to slather on...yes, please. We enjoyed a pork dish and the chicken and dumplings. Now for the negative, which I really don't do often but I expected more from a Sean Brock restaurant. First impression, walking in, the ambiance was woodsy and romantic. Loved that. Impressions after that went downhill. We arrived early, not expecting to get seated right away, but checked in with the host, who was not very welcoming at all. I asked if we could go to the bar to wait, and he muttered that it was busy. We had to then ask where the bar was and ask to have our wet coats hung up. The bar...not busy. Several seats available. So, we ordered 2 cocktails. My cocktail came, but my husbands never did. Host came up to tell us our table was ready, still no drink but they said they would make it and bring it down. It never came. Our server stated he would have the cornbread and salad we ordered come out first. Good plan! Until the salad never came. Another server brought the cornbread, said, "I'll go find your salad" and never returned. Then our entrees were served. I asked about our salad, heard apologies and it finally came. Then we had to ask for our potatoes after about halfway through our entree. Salad plate sat empty on the table even after servers came by to provider water or our late potatoes. My first empty cocktail drink stayed on the table, even after my second arrived and I placed it so the server would see it and not have to reach over me. I really was disappointed in the service but did enjoy my meal. Had there been decent service, I would have given a 4 - 4.5 star. Perhaps it was an off night. Maybe we're the outliers on this one, and I am so incredibly sad to write this review. But there was a lot left to be desired with our meal. We're cancelling our June reservation for later this weekend and "eating" the nonrefundable deposit (no pun intended) for fear of a similar experience and again it pains us. We've been to Husk, McCradys. We love Sean and what he's done. It just wasn't that good tonight. Food felt "mailed in". Maybe thats just what happens when you expand locations, teams, etc and lose that critical amount of control over said teams. Or maybe Seans food has just lost its grandeur it once seemed to hold. Either way it makes us sad. Service and attention to meta-detail for the most part were within normal limits. But the food and taste profile were not what we would expect from a Sean Brock restaurant. The concepts are there. But there's no chance the team should consider themselves successful in seeing those concepts out on the dish as far as taste goes. Wagyu steak ($100 a plate) wasn't a great cut. Wife couldn't even cut some of it with the utensils provided. The catfish was terrible, I'm unsure of where or why the minty finish came from. I could barely eat it (didn't) and was too embarrassed to say anything to the server just doing his job. The barbecued mushroom dish was conceptually perfect, but again, just wasn't great to actually eat. Before you write this review off as an angry patron, I would implore you to simply just research and see if there's maybe another option out there for your well spent money time and energy If i ran the place, I'd take the dishes back up to the lab and run it back. Solve the equation a different way. Or maybe just good enough is "just good enough" in todays world of no one really cares like they used to. read more

The space is great & creates a nice vibe, staff were numerous & eager to serve. We had some delicious bites. I'm really proud that my hometown has a restaurant this unique and good. Should the Michelin guide ever come to town, this place could earn a star or two. My husband is a fan of Sean Brock & after this meal, so am I. Appalachian cuisine has a special place in my family, especially from MY grandma (restaurant is inspired by the grandmother of the chef), so seeing it celebrated + elevated kind of made me emotional?? crybaby I read some complaints about portion size + waiting between courses, but our dinner was perfect. Manage your expectations- you're not exactly coming to feast, but to enjoy a special and unique meal. You will probably be spending $400+ if you get the wine pairing (get the damn wine pairing!), coffee, and specialty drinks so relax and just enjoy the experience! The best part of the meal (other than the food) was the staff!! Everyone was welcoming, knowledgeable, and likable. I wish I could remember everyone's names because they all deserve recognition! I have a severe food allergy that gives me a lot of anxiety, and I felt so cared for and was reassured multiple times that my food was safe. That meant a lot. The only mistake made was when I didn't order the grits for my first course. The salmon was fab, but great salmon is still just salmon... I really don't know if my husband will ever shut up about these grits. I will dream about the chocolate cake forevs, but the corn funnel cake & buttermilk ice cream was divine. Tbh, I don't see how anyone could make a bad choice or have a bad experience. We can't wait to come back soon (and sit in one of the cute green booths!). Definitely our new go to. I ate with a friend at Audrey last night and it was unbelievable. Growing up in a transplanted southern family, experiencing the food of the south elevated to this level was an experience I cannot fully describe. The chicken and dumplings were a standout star, the shaved country ham was incredible, and the fried green tomatoes were a standout as well. Came to Nashville and had to try Sean Brock's flagship restaurant, Audrey. When you walk in you're welcomed by the earthy smell of chopped logs and a smile at the host stand. We got seated at a table where we can see the chefs working meticulously in the open kitchen as well as the incredibly aesthetic decor. A little book on the table gives you some background on the restaurant contributors and the Appalachian roots that inspire the whole immersive theme. We opted for "The Feast" which started us off with the southern oysters. 2 oysters came with a side tray housing a dollop of each sauce: bourbon mignonette, Appalachian cocktail sauce, and country ham jelly. I wanted to try a bit of every one on my oyster and it was DELICIOUS. Each flavor took a turn on my tongue and the adventure began. Next were the heirloom southern apples and shaved country ham. The server said she liked wrapping the ham around the apples and, oh boy what a treat! After that were the cristabel lettuce and deer skewer. The lettuce had a lingering taste of pork cracklings--Very good, and the deer skewer had an intense grilled flavor. I was having so much fun and then the star of the show came, Jimmy red corn grits! Mix it well, the cured yolk elevates the grits and give an almost umami note. LOVED it. This is followed by 2 cute salt-risen bread rolls that come with a sphere of butter that when you slice it in half has sweet potato jam inside! I was giddy from how much fun that was, the "peach skin" rosé may have had something to do with that as well. Next, the meat and potatoes, literally. Bone-in NY strip with the most decadent morel mushrooms, English peas, and mint béarnaise sauce that creates a completely different flavor bite. The potatoes came with a grilled harbison cheese poured ontop table-side and the asparagus had paper thin slices of lardo, sake lees and a grilled egg sauce. Last but not least, DESSERT!!! A honey caramel custard, like flan, and bruleed rice pudding with puffed rice ontop, the perfect ending. I forgot to mention we also got the cornbread a la cart. We used the cornbread mix at home a few winters ago and couldn't stop thinking about it since. This was a lot of fun, thanks to everyone who made this experience memorable, we hope to visit again if we're ever back in Nashville! read more

I've been to Audrey (and June) countless times now. Every time is a wonderful experience. Sean has created an atmosphere that feels like a modern art studio without being pretentious. It's clean and down to earth. Parking is SO easy and free. I like that it's away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Me and my husband (Jack Daniel) frequent all of Sean's restaurants and the servers are quick to remember us and details about our preferences. This could be good memory or great note taking. Either way, I love the way they make us feel! We've only ever had one not very welcoming encounter with a hostess, but this was an outlier and anyone can have a bad day. The servers all seem to be in love with their jobs and sincerely happy to serve you. They also are incredibly intelligent! I learn something from them every time. The food: how can someone create flavors of the south in such an eloquent way? I still think about the potato salad with caviar on top. Every dish brings out a memory. The cornbread brought tears to my brother in laws eyes as it made him remember his late grandmother. I could go on and on about every dish. The drinks: do not sleep on the non alcoholic drinks! These are out of this world with flavor. You can't go wrong with any of their cocktails either. They are all spectacular. We love what Sean and his team have done here at Audrey. We've all seen him on TV and were eagerly awaiting his new fine dining restaurant. If you are considering traveling here to try it out as I did, don't bother. Beautiful buildout, really great decor. Too bad nobody sat in those wooden chairs first. If you sit upright you'll just slide out if them so you must lean forward all night. That is, unless your a special guest and get a booth. All that can be overlooked if we had an awesome first course. The rosin potato thing was a cool story but something was super bitter in there. The bentons ham was the same ham we had at 4 other restaurants while in Nashville so it lost the sense of being important. Around 45 minutes later we got a bowl of Grits with cured egg and truffle. This was good but nothing exceptional. Heirloom Grits can again, be found anywhere. Killed Lettuces. Another cool story about Sean cooking greens and how the hot fat poured over would cook them. A spoonful of dressing wasn't enough. No salt anywhere, just bitter greens with raw red onion and flowers. Panera has better salads. I got vension wife got lobster. Both cold. Lobster had little going on, was just lobster cut into tiny pieces for a child. Venison was inedible, very tough and dry, the sourdough bread sauce was way too thick, maybe if it was still warm it would have been better. Desserts were good but could have all been served and played as 1 dish, not multiple dishes of 1 or 2 bites each. This just dragged out the meal longer. Wine pairings were fine given the price, I'd have paid more for better wine if given the option. All in for 2 of us to eat 5 courses it took 4 hours. That's an insane amount of time between courses. I was so excited to visit Audrey. I have heard wonderful things about Sean Brock. Unfortunately, I left disappointed. We started with the corn bread. It did not taste like corn bread. It was bitter, dry and tasted burnt. We were hoping for the sweet and spongey dish that we are used to getting in the south. Next we got the heirloom southern apples. We immediately noticed the small portion size. We basically got one apple for the price of $15. The flavor was good but ultimately it was a very expensive apple cooked in cinnamon. We also tried the carrots because they were recommended to us by the waitress. Again- the portion size was very small. It looked like a plate of 6 baby carrots. The carrot had a woody/straw core. We could not eat some of them because it was too hard to bite through. It lacked flavor and the texture made it really hard to eat. Finally, we got the chicken and dumplings for $55. We liked the chicken and flavor but it was a pretty standard dumpling. Although we enjoyed this dish, we thought it was overpriced and we wouldn't order again. This restaurant has so much potential. The ambience and vibe is very cool. The service is excellent! It is also located in a really cool Nashville neighborhood. We just cannot justify another visit to Audrey based on the prices and disappointing dishes. read more

DISAPPOINTED To preface, I have been to Sean Brock's Husk in Savannah and I have experienced what Brock's attention to detail and celebration of local ingredients can be...unfortunately my experience at Audrey was far off expectations. I should have been suspicious when the Yelp reviews were at 3.5 stars, and then I should have been even more suspicious when I was able to get easy brunch reservations the day before. But my trust in Brock endured. The restaurant itself is a gorgeous modern simplicity. I was very excited to see the open kitchen concept because I love watching them work. We ordered the crab & grits and the Appalachian Country Breakfast, with their almond croissant pastry special. I am used to inflated prices for quality ingredients and execution but $32 for what is about one cup's worth of a serving for a brunch entree is really sad. It's grits, a cured yolk, a couple pieces of crab and some sauces. Thankfully my wife had gastric sleeve surgery so I get to eat her left overs because after eating this cup of uninspired over priced grits I was already feeling frustrated. I knew to expect smaller food portions but I did not expect for my wife to have to wait more than five minutes after I was served to receive her meal. We knew her's was not gonna be Cracker Barrel size serving sizes but again the miniature portions of such basic ingredients was very disappointing. The soft scrambled eggs were over salted, the hash-brown pancake was burnt on the bottom and tasted acrid, the tomato gravy was bland, the tiny apple slices tasted like they were soaked in soy sauce, the biscuit and gravy was simply uninspired. Finally we tried the almond croissant which we got to go, the exterior was delicious but the inside was doughy. I was so put off by this $75 brunch that I skipped going to Sean's Joyland restaurant and just drove the 3 hours home. We had a cup of coffee at Shugga Hi's cafe while waiting for our reservations, we should have just forfeited the $30 reservation fee and enjoyed a full meal of soul food with incredibly friendly and loving folks. If I were able to talk to Sean, I would plead with him to address the issues at Audrey, as a signature restaurant it is currently a tarnish upon his reputation. The restaurant and food look GREAT but that is where the enjoyment ends. read more

Truly an incredible experience from start to finish. The building is stunning and the interior art work and design evokes the feeling of eating at your grandmothers (or in this case Sean Brock's grandmothers) house. They were prepared and immediately accommodated our parties dietary restrictions (no pork or shellfish, not an easy task with a prix fixe southern menu) The courses were all perfectly sized to leave you wanting one more bite but never feeling over-indulged and perfectly timed. The flavors were incredibly complex, but unlike some chefs tasting experiences where you aren't sure what you are eating, we always felt like we were eating traditional southern food- just a very special, elevated version of it. The Appalachian disgestif was a perfect nightcap to complement the 3 course dessert experience. We also enjoyed several mocktails and teas, but if you are interested the wine list is extensive with several sommeliers on staff Treat yourself to this experience, you will not regret it. read more

I hate to do this to a multi-year James Beard award recipient, but the food is just not that good. Ambience: it's minimalist and beautiful. The exposed kitchen, leather accents, wood elements were beautiful. Service: solid. Servers were knowledgable about the dishes and pairings. Food: I did "The Feast" and I was disappointed. The flavor profiles of some dishes were straight up strange. The cornbread tasted like cardboard. The fried apples had onions and other bitter type elements that were unexpected - but not in a good way. The grits were good as was the salad. The catfish entree was tasty. The dessert was very good. Everything else was bad-meh. I had to spit out the shaved ham (salty as hell with weird aftertaste) and the pork (tiny but not good & weird tasting). I'm giving 2 stars largely because if you are charging a premium for it, I expect you to deliver--not just on service and ambiance. Overall, I had high expectations that were not met. The staff is so professional , yet warm and welcoming that you relax and forget you're in one of possibly the top restaurants to ever open in the city if not the country. We enjoyed our brunch at Audrey's! I am not a buffet person so I love finding a restaurant that serves brunch and has some unique things on the menu. We began with the Whipped Noble Springs Goat Cheese - a wonderful spread for the delicious pullapart bread that accompanies it. The Goat cheese is topped with bee pollen and apple honey - a delicious start to the meal. The Cast Iron Omelette is fluffy and perfectly cooked and flavorful. The Smoked Short Rib is tender and topped with a delicious charon sauce - a great accompaniment for the short rib. It is served with sassafras potatoes - well seasoned and not too mushy. Pumpkin Spice Sticky Bread was a great ending to a delicious meal. One disappointment - the Bloody Mary was surprisingly bland. It uses pepper-infused vinegar so I was expected a great spicy Bloody Mary. It did not live up to the billing. But the food more than compensated for that slight disappointment. read more

This review is based on correspondence with the admin side. Due to weather and other extenuating circumstances we were unable to make a reservation. However my experience interacting with the staff via email to plan our reservation was stellar. There're were no tables available for the day I was in town. I got on the waitlist for a reservation. Two days later I was notified reservations had become available. I made the reservation; paid the hold fee for 3 guests. Then reached out to the staff regarding the fact that one of the guests was a toddler. They were so accommodating and gracious regarding me bringing a toddler to a tasting menu. Fortunately the weather was unpredictable and we were staying a ways outside of town so we were unable to make the reservation. I canceled the day of and a happily paid the reservation fee for holding our reservation. I'm truly bummed out that I didn't get to experience Audrey. I see there is a bouquet (mix) of views. I can't speak highly enough of; of the attention and grace I received. With that I highly recommend Audrey. And I am looking forward to my next trip to Tennessee so I can actually experience the restaurant and one of kind of flavors. read more

I was interested in trying Sean Brock's food for a long time, but sad to say, this dining experience is a bit of a let down. Main issue is with strong opinionated wait staff - I came to the restaurant wanting to try the family feast, or the chicken dumpling, but my waiter recommended against both because "they will be too much" for one person, and I end up with 3 courses that started strong but more and more underwhelming as it progresses - started with apple and salt risen bread 5/5 - both were great - next were the grits 4/5 - very aromatic and visually appealing, but ate like thick breakfast oatmeal - last was the pork 1/5 - very simple preparation, to let the pork components show, but the pork were very gamy, with no contrasting/masking components. The sausage was off putting with raw ground pork like texture At the end I was so disappointed that did not bother to order dessert I did try their non alc bitter cocktail and was pretty nice read more

The ambiance was perfect: I instantly loved the restaurant upon entering. I wish we could say the same about the rest of the evening. The cocktails all had a floral taste to them (even the whiskey and coke); it was very off putting for the men. And a 5oz pour of cider was $11, which is unheard of. My husband & I shared the chicken & dumplings: IT WAS AMAZING. Only wish would be that it had more chicken. Our table also had the NY strip & the snapper, both of which had little taste. The steak is extremely expensive for being so bland. We were highly disappointed overall, considering the cost of the meal. read more

So the food was pretty good. But the Wine Pairing is them basically swindling you right in front of your face. They have a $15 or $25 per glass per person pairing that they say is tailored to the specific items you order off the menu. The "Elevated Pairing" is $25 a glass (so think $100 per dinner if you get 4 pairings), so what the heck, we went with that. The second pour was flacid, lifeless. So with the aid of Google, we find out it is a $32 retail bottle (google it yourself, COS Pithos Blanco, 2020), and their in-house wine menu iPad lists the exact same bottle for $72. So we just paid $50 for 2 tiny pours when we could have bought the bottle for $72.......... And better yet, they served the same exact bottle to the other tables so clearly there was no attempt at personalization, and we suspect we would have gotten the same pour for the $15 level. The "wine guy" and the server sold the "Elevated Wine" pairing as something that is harder to find, or something they don't get very often. Note that we did not see the Wine Director on-site today. We did opt out of the rest of the pairing - they do have a big wine list. So just order your own. Worst. Wine. Pairing. Ever (cue Simpson Comic Book Guy voice). The wine pairing was a disservice to the quality of the food and the imagination in the cool menu. Oh well. Go to Folk instead, it is 400 feet up the road. read more

One of the best meals and cocktail experiences of my life AND we got to meet legendary chef Sean Brock at his new restaurant Audrey. The restaurant is dedicated to his grandmother's Appalachian cooking and I loved exploring a cuisine with which I only had cursory familiarity. I also couldn't envision a better way to celebrate my birthday and round out a trip to Nashville. DO NOT MISS the non-traditional bar upstairs. The space is beautiful, and the HUGE live edge, black walnut bar top was made by actor Nick Offerman aka Ron Swanson himself. We were presented with a basket of fruits and veggies by the friendly bar staff and asked to pick one and trust them. We're so glad we did. We tried the persimmon, barley, squash, and apple. Watching the expert bar staff create the cocktails was such a treat, and both staff members were friendly and informative while they made magical alcohol concoctions before our eyes. Chef Sean Brock visited the bar while we were seated, and I was able to say hello and awkwardly squeak out a thank you for the happy birthday wishes before my fangirl-itis tied my tongue. Just so freaking cool to meet the person whose work I admire so much! The meal itself was (of course) delicious and seemingly never-ending. Highlights of the tasting menu were the jimmy red grits and the multi-level first course of ham, trout roe, and chanterelle mushrooms. The sommelier also suggested a beautiful wine Canary Islands to pair with the meal. The wine list is epic, and prices range from the stratospheric to the surprisingly affordable. The multiple folk art pieces in the dining room were arresting and funky in the best way. The service was impeccable. I loved being around people who were as excited about good food and wine as we were. The good mood was contagious. Despite Audrey being a fine-dining experience, it the opposite of pretentious and formal. I wish that Sean Brock would open a restaurant in Austin! read more

Service was great, Ko was patient and accommodating. Hostess was friendly. Menu sounds heavy but some dishes are small while some are larger. We went for brunch and had these shared plates: cornbread - yep, it was cornbread, served in cast iron skillet but not hot, butter it was served with was delicious but hard as a rock since it had obviously been portioned and in fridge. Peach cobbler - wish this on the dessert menu instead of shared plates, it was good. Served hot. Cream with it was delicious. Relish tray - had the pimento cheese that I was most excited to try, but like the butter, it was hard as a rock like it had been portioned and stored in chiller. Croissant- excellent. Entrees: Omelet soufflés- I was so excited about this one but it was served lukewarm. Taste was phenomenal but temperature of frothy egg liquid was gross. Endive with it was pretty good. Breakfast platter - hash browns good, sausage good, apples sour as heck, scrambled eggs as silky smooth as you could want, tomato gravy tasted a lot like pappa Al pomodoro; except eggs, everything else served warm not hot Crab & Grits - divine, served hot, but small portion of all parts but grits The interior is beautiful and rustic, the music was horrible. We really enjoyed our meal here but we weren't overwhelmed for the price point. We were the first table of the day and got food super fast, so I doubt they started the soufflé or cornbread or hash browns when ordered. I would have given 5 stars if the temperatures were warmer because even with that, you could tell it was created with quality ingredients. Definitely worth another try, perhaps when they're busier and things come out fresh from kitchen. read more

The best part of our dining experience at Audrey's was the Banana Cheesecake we got at Cheesecake Factory afterward. After the first hour we were finally served a cocktail and two buns. We ordered four to five dishes and had to return the last one (Lion's Mane Mushroom) because it was just too burned and unpleasant to eat. I couldn't choke any more down. Overall took 2.5+ hours to get a few small plates. Our server was inattentive and provided little guidance when ordering. Struggled to flag her down and get attention. After we paid our bill the manager asked us about our experience but did not seem interested in learning more about what made our experience poor. "Hopefully you had some good bites" were her words. At least the food critic/writer/blogger that was there seemed to be served well. My wife and I have toddlers and seldom get a date. We expected a lot more and disappointed this was where we spent our anniversary. Thanks Cheesecake Factory bartender for being consistent and reliable. You saved the day! read more

A fun experience with some friends where we tried some unique flavors. As a vegetarian sometimes eating fish, I appreciated the attention to detail and reviewing the menu with us to go over what changes would need to be made. I was a little worried about the menu because it wasn't posted online before, so I didn't know what I would and wouldn't be able to eat. The grits were phenomenal as was the bread and dessert. The menu had just changed from a study of apples to sweet potatoes, and it was all really nice! I'm giving a 4/5 for two reasons really.... 1- I did not like the main. The two options were a beef or fish. I do eat fish, but the salmon was a little rare for my taste, pregnant or not. I usually prefer to get vegetarian tasting menus, so a veggie option would be more inclusive. 2- the mocktails weren't great. The typical audience for a mocktail might be someone who is pregnant, but there were some ingredients in them that aren't pregnancy friendly which was limiting. Overall it was a neat experience and I'd like to go back during spring or summer to get some fresh fruits for the study hopefully! read more
