First timer that lives abt 20miles away. Very inviting & friendly vibe. I was excited to try the Town Tavern Tenderloin, all the pics look really good. I ordered one dressed with lettuce & tomato with a side of fries & Cole slaw. Word of warning. Don't. Do not order this. The loin was pounded thin and beautifully fried. HOWEVER....ZERO taste. Zero seasoning. Zero. Not even salt. The breading was moist underneath and a little "doughy"- and sat like an old wet sock in my stomach. There was absolutely nothing to save this poor BAT other than copious amounts of ketchup for flavor. How in the hell are you gonna go to the effort of pounding out a beautiful tenderloin paper thin in spots and NOT even attempt to season your breading? No salt. No pepper. No Cavenders. No Adobe. No Lawreys. How does this happen? The world may never know. The lettuce topper was 1/2 Romaine leaf and 1/2 iceberg & wilted. The tomato slices (2) should have been thrown out yesterday. Pinkish & slimy - side of botulism please. The menu lists the "tiny little bun" as being "grilled". That bun never came close to the damned grill. It was a plain white hamburger bun as fresh as can be. A second plate should be brought so customers don't have to cut/rip the tenderloin on a napkin on the table. How can a waitress knowingly ask how "things are tasting" and not see you hacking this shoe leather bland swine piled on a napkin? Never mind. I was already turned off from the first taste while cutting it up & knew 80% of it was staying there for the trash can. No way any of that was coming home. My husband ordered a Ruben with fries & Cole slaw. First thing out of his mouth was "fries are horrible". Yikes! How can you f$&k up fries? Cheap fries in old oil without salt & they sat NOT under lamps....they were cold - only explanation. His Ruben came without any thousand island dressing & he was already pissed abt the fries. Smallest Rueben I've ever seen for $10.95 - fries and Cole slaw were extra. So for $10,95 that meat better be piled on the marbled rye! The CocaCola mix was perfect as was their unsweetened tea. We sat quietly waiting for our bill & upon arriving it was someone else's & needed to be re-rung. 15min later we're still waiting for it. We were one of 3, 4 tops so the place wasn't packed at all. Note to self - go to Mad Anthony's for tenderloin and Rueben and you won't be served disappointment with a side of sadness. I wanted to really like this place. It failed miserably. read more

Not good. Sadly disappointed. We like pork tenderloins, and it was so very dry. I will say they did a pretty good job cooking my t-bone, but downhill from there. Canned sides and not homemade desserts. And to substitute sides were $5 each! Also restaurant was not very clean. Dirty table near us, and our table was sticky. Not a return for us. read more

We just ordered carry out, woman on phone was rude. I specifically asked for tartar sauce with my fish dinner--did not get tartar sauce & did not get my french fries either. My husband got the swiss steak with mashed potatoes--it tasted so terrible he couldn't even eat it. My baked beans tasted terrible as well. First of all it was absolutely FREEZING in the restaurant. Several tables mentioned how cold it was. Very small restaurant so you can hear everyone's conversations. Both servers were running their mouths at the drink station stating how hot it is in there. Wasn't hot at all. Our server brought our drinks to our table, came back to take the order. She took mine & my child's, as my child is completing her order another table came in our server ran to their table as my husband begun placing his order. Rude, very much rude. The tenderloin sandwich is huge, 2 people could eat it. That bun is an embarrassment to the sandwich. However it could use some seasonings. The tower of fried veggies is absolutely horrible. The onions, mushrooms & mozzarella sticks all tasted like FISH! Gross. Waste of money on that for sure. Green beans are from a CAN. Nasty. Our server was all over the place. We watched her as she ran around, she would ask other tables how their food was, never asked us. I asked for a couple to go boxes, and FRESH drinks for the road. Just a short drive from Fort Wayne but we'll worth it. Went there for lunch and we both ordered the Tenderloin sandwich and a full order of Onion Eings to share. The sandwich was very flavorful, tender and juicy. Definitely in the top 3 I have ever had and I have had my share. We both brought home enough for at least 2 sandwiches each. Onion Rings were crispy with a unique breading that was very good. Will certainly return. read more

Very good ! The best light breading on their fish you will find except for scalawags in mackinaw city. The tartar sauce is solid too - more on the sugary side than tart but it's a good happy medium. The coleslaw is wonderful as well and you get quite a bit. When you order, make sure you get the 4 piece as a two piece tends to be 4 dinky little pieces. They never come out as a big fillet - just a lot of pieces. Not a bad thing but it's consuming when you ask for their portion sizes and they say "maybe 3, maybe 5 ".... I would also choose 'American fries' over French fries. American fries are sliced potatoes that are fried on grill with a lot of oil. I also like onions added to them. This place is nothing to write home about in decor but food and service is very good. I stop here whenever I can because it's unique and better than most fried fish places around. read more

This place was super cozy. It was small and was divide into two parts. One side had the bar and booths. The other side had more of dining style set up. The menus are already at your table and the waitress came up when she thought you were ready. We came at a dead time so food came in about 35 minutes after ordering. But the food was super fresh and had a delightful taste. I got the chicken breast dinner and my boyfriend got the friend chicken dinner. I would come here again just for the vibes alone. read more

Been in a couple times now. It's a real local feel with mostly regulars but both the staff and regulars make you feel at home and are glad to share their recommendations. Everything we've had so far is good. My friend has gotten breakfast meals twice (they must serve breakfast all day) I've gotten a sandwich and fish tacos and didn't leave a bite on the plate. I am not sure where to even begin. I moved to Auburn 3 years ago and have eaten at Town Tavern since then. Even helping them by ordering carry-out during the pandemic when seating was not avail. I am all about dining local. The food is always consistently good...not gourmet...but good. The staff has always been great...until today. My family and I decided to order carry-out this evening from Town Tavern and now wish I hadn't. The woman that answered the phone was probably THE most rude person I have ever spoken to. I stayed pleasant while ordering, but she continued to be condescending. I wondered if Auburn had opened a Dick's Last Resort, and I just hadn't heard the news. My son ran down to pick up the order. She was so rude to him and stated some shocking comments to him. I will never dine there or order carry-out.....ever again, because of her poor attitude and filthy comments. We stopped here for dinner when we were in Auburn this week. Clearly it is a place where the locals frequent. It is small. with the bar in back. We knew we had come to a good place, as it was fairly full We found a table, and the waitress promptly took our drink order. she was thew only one working, but service was good and she was very friendly We ordered a fish fry and the shrimp and fish Both were excellent, and reasonably priced. Not great, but acceptable. Fries are boring frozen, dry. Tenderloin is HUGE, but tough and rubbery. Chicken philly sandwich was great, with a nice roll. Salad bar was dated, and could use tidied up. We went to Auburn Town Tavern solely on the recommendations from yelp. There were 8 of us. Awesome service. Home town atmosphere. And yes...the fish is AWESOME! 4 of us got the fish based on the recommendations. All of us really enjoyed it. I'd personally recommend the chippers with your fish. Great local dive, that also has a family room. Great, greasy food and great daily specials.

Service sucks. Filthy restaurant and can't imagine what it looks like in the kitchen. Food is too generic for me.
