We came to Texas Roadhouse to celebrate our anniversary based on previous visits where the service and experience were always excellent and consistent with the Texas Roadhouse standard. Unfortunately, this visit completely ruined what was supposed to be a special day for us. Our server, Amber, never once came back to check on our table after the food was delivered. She did not ask how the steaks were cooked, whether we needed refills, or if everything was okay. We were left completely unattended throughout the meal. At one point, my husband asked for more butter for the rolls, and instead of simply bringing butter, she brought an entirely new basket of rolls with three butters. We sent the rolls back and left the butter untouched on the table. A manager eventually came over after we expressed concerns, and we explained that Amber had not checked on us a single time during the meal. What made the situation even worse was hearing Amber respond by saying, "I don't deal with disgruntled customers." That response was disappointing, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. This was our anniversary dinner, and instead of enjoying a special occasion, we left frustrated and disappointed. We have always had much better experiences at Texas Roadhouse, which is why this visit was so surprising. Management should review the footage from this visit. It will clearly show that our table was never properly attended to after the food arrived. Last review for one of these was in AZ and during pandemic. Idk what kicked this chain into gear but changes are a 180 ! Had the steak salad which was just right size and tasty steak. Hubs had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. What is there not to love with another Texas Roadhouse near Fort Wayne! The parking lot has been packed with cars. You can't be disappointed with their famous yeast rolls and cinnamon butter. Service was poor, had to ask for appetizer plates with the appetizer, had to ask for drink refills. The was very poor. "The sampler" chicken wings were naked no sauce (we asked for the mild sauce), the potato skins were burnt, dry and cold. Honestly it looked like the plate was reused. My steak was cold. When we complained about the food, the manger (Austin)was very rude and tried to tell me the chicken was exactly like we asked (wrong!) He even raised his voice and very unprofessional. We had the pleasure of attending on the opening night. The service was absolutely impeccable. The servers are well trained, professional, and attentive, Everyone in the restaurant works as a team providing world class customer service. The food was outstanding and served promptly. The wait time was minimal, the restaurant is beautiful and well maintained. We love the fun atmosphere with that Texas Roadhouse vibe, we will be attending often. First I checked in at 5:02 via app wait-list, app said that said it was 10 min wait . 5:30 came I went in they said they texted me I checked the number I provided in app and # was correct but no text. Just choked it up to a glitch, But this was the beginning. Hostess asked me to follow her, I said I would like to pick my steak out of steak cooler, mind you there is a knife on the steaks next to sign that say 12 and 14 oz and ribeye but that was all I caught. She says oh I don't know why that is there. I said what do you mean it is for customer to pick their steak as we are walking to my table again she says I don't know why it is there. I said ok and sit down, then there is no bread the hostess for the Customer before me grabbed bread and brought it with them. I ask for my bread and the hostess says kind of snarky I will get your bread and walks off, waitress comes to the table I ask if she can get me some bread she said yes but first I need to get your drink. I tell her I want water with lemon and I know what I want to eat as I eat at Texas roadhouse a lot, I say I want a 16oz ft worth ribeye and would like to pick it out, She said we don't do that here we are the only store that doesn't do that I said I thought It was a corporate policy and she said we don't go by corporate policy in that regard I say ok then start telling her rest of my order she keeps cutting me off and asking do I want this and that. I say politely ma'am I will tell u my order if you just listen I went on and ordered my sides she says I am going to ask my manager about picking your steak and I will get your bread. As she walks away another lady brings bread the waitress comes back and said we don't allow customers to pick steaks we are the only store that does that, but my manager says he will let you pick your but the steak you want is not in there we only have 14 oz steaks I the cooler. I then say if I cannot pick it can u at least ask them to get me one with a lot of fat. her tone through the entire ordeal was not as friendly as you get at other roadhouses , I just chalked it up to her maybe having a bad day so I left it at that. She comes back with my water and I say you forgot the lemon and she grabs my glass of water and says something as she walks away. I get my salad eat it then the steak comes they have me check it to make sure it is cooked alright I said it is more rare than medium rare but I am not going to fuss about it, I cut a piece of and eat and the waitress says well if it is not to your liking we can have them put it down more but her tone was of displeasure saying. I let her know I was fine and would just eat it. Now comes the bad taste in my mouth there was a male in a blue shirt and cowboy hat walking by I see his tag says Austin and service manager. I said excuse me sir are you the manager that does not allow customers to pick their steaks he goes on defensive his voice gets a condescending tone and he begins to state that they do not do it as it is an inconvenience and they have to and in fact the owner of the restaurant someone named Scott has deemed it will no longer be done as it is an inconvenience and that this is the only store out of the 13 he owns that food not do it. I stated I thought it was a corporate policy (if you Google it, it states online it is. I was at another store in another state where a district manager was telling employees it was a corp thing and I overheard it some I assumed it was policy)he cut me off and said well it's not in a very snooty tone and I said I beg to differ he said beg to differ its up to the owner and our owner is Scott who owns 13 stores doesn't do it because it is an inconveince as I went to say something else he cut me off and started on the franchisee makes there own decision. I then said let me say this you don't know as a customer who I am, I could be a critic, food writer I could be from corporate and he said well tell Ryan Long I said hi. I said with that in mind or not even if any of that matter why would u want to act like this and be difficult I went to say policy and he gets more irate and says there is nothing In policy that says the customer has to pick the steak, I say if you let me finish my statement I was going to say policy does dictate how you treat a customer so why he cuts me off again and talks about Scott the franchisee I said again you cut me off and it does not need to be like this, finishing my statement why would you talk to a customer like this and risk a possible bad review I cannot get a word in edgewise talking to you is like talking to a wall he Interupts again he said complain I don't care and yells my name is Austin and storms off. People in front of me look back at me the people at table next to me look over laugh and roll their eyes. The salad is good, green beans are very good, and steaks are tender but a bit over seasoned and salty. Service is efficient and friendly. However - the noise level is deafening. Our family was in on 6/2/24 and it got hectic and our server Jordan was awesome. She was doing her best to keep up with all of the tables. She was doing someone else's area plus her own because they were short. Not many servers could take on that task when it got hectic, but she did it and was very nice and apologized because she could not keep checking on us like she would have liked to. Went on Mother's Day to get pick up. Was missing my shrimp skewer, and the broccoli wasn't cooked. Emailed that day. I got an email and a phone call from a very nice manager. Jordan apologized and sent an offer through an email. Requested I call him. So today I called. I'm directed to another manager Austin whom was very rude and hung up abruptly on me. At the beginning of the conversation, I told him I was returning a call from Jordan, and I emailed about my issue. He proceeded to say what you didn't contact us that day so we could take care of it. You waited this long to say something. I told him like I said in the beginning, and I emailed that day. After the fact we threw our onion away also it wasn't even cut. Plus, were you going to deliver that day? He says we don't deliver. I said I knew, and I wasn't going to come back up that day. I understood it was very busy that day. He says you want to speak to Jordan then. I said yes, and he hung up. Definitely enjoyed our experience inside the first time going there.
