It was raining so we thought we'd just go to one of the restaurants that we'll pass by on our walk to our hotel and stumbled upon this little bistro. They had a good amount of people eating there already and we thought we'd just follow the crowd and checked it out. We were quite starving so we decided to go for something easy and picked off of the meal deal they had going on (I believe it was 3 course meal for 30 euros) and you had a limited amount of items you can choose from. Per usual we were started off with a basket of bread and butter (which was fantastic, literally my favorite thing about every restaurant in France) then proceeded to our starters. I forgot about the names of the dishes but one was a meat mixture with outer breading and the other was a stew with mushrooms and eggs. The mushrooms and eggs tasted okay, nothing remarkable and we ate it with the bread which made it good. As for our main dishes, I got a white pasta while my husband got the salmon dish. The pasta was okay, a little on the drier side and per usual, a bit flavorless. My husband's salmon was also quite flavorless so he was picking off my pasta for a good amount of the dinner. We definitely have different tastebuds as Americans so I just attributed it to that. Overall, my husband and I's favorite were the desserts which were crème brûlée and chocolate pudding. Both were excellent and as I write this, I wish I can have some of the crème brûlée right now! Service was alright, a little on the slower side, but at least water was complementary!

A star for their setup, and a star for their friendliness, but everything else was average. Food took over 35-mins to arrive, and it was very mediocre. The Angus steak listed under their "Exceptional meats" section was the worst steak one can ever have. No seasoning whatsoever and the béarnaise sauce was exceptionally forgettable. The pasta with lobster was throughly enjoyed, but the kiddie pasta lacked butter. The setup however was pretty good, away from all the touristy traffic (which is what actually got us here). Food can definitely be better.

A Happy Little Paris Accident!…read more We stumbled into Café de Paris after the restaurant we originally planned to visit was completely booked. It was pretty late, our options were dwindling, and while this spot was a little more casual than we had intended for the evening, this cute Parisian pub ended up hitting the spot! We kicked things off with drinks -- a Gin Basil Splash and a French 75. For starters, we ordered the vegetable stracciatella and escargot , followed by the sea bass and roasted chicken for our entrées. Everything made for a solid, satisfying late-night meal. The real standout, though, was the service! Our server was wonderful, but what impressed me even more was that nearly every staff member who passed our table checked in to see if we needed anything. Everyone was attentive, welcoming, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the evening. The restaurant itself is cute and quaint, with sprawling patio seating that's perfect for people-watching in Paris. There's also a private room tucked away in the back. It was definitely LOUD , but I think a lot of that came from the busy street outside -- the block is packed with bars, restaurants, and nightclubs, so there's a ton of foot traffic and energy late into the night. Overall, Café de Paris wasn't where we planned to end up, but sometimes the unexpected spots are exactly what you need. Good food, great service, cocktails, and Paris nightlife buzzing all around us -- I'd call that a successful Plan B!

Service: 5 The waiter was nice and he was attentive to what we were trying to order despite not speaking French. He knew some English too so that helped a ton! Food: 5 We ordered beef tartare, onion soup, and the mix cheese and meat charcuterie board. The beef tartare was very well seasoned and tasted so good. It came with fries that weren't very salted which was fine because it paired so nice with the beef tartare. The bread came with the board which had a nice mix of cheeses and meats. The onion soup was really nice. It didn't hit you with a strong flavor and smell of onions and the toasted baguette in the soup added a nice crunch. Overall, it was a nice meal and I might try something different than the cheese and meat board.
