What a great little find! I was super happy with the little time I spent over at Atwater Tavern! Snuck out of work for a little walk and stumbled upon this spot. Super convenient to beat the warm day! Although I'm a girl who loves a drink, I was on the clock and opted for a nice refreshing mocktail. Ordered the Rickey and it was perfect! Lemon and cucumber and not too sweet. Absolutely loved it. The crowd in there were super fun to talk to as well! Loved my little 15 minutes in Atwater Tavern. If I ever find myself on a lunch time walk, ill happily be there again
My husband and I were in the city on Saturday for a Giants game and decided to meet up at ATwater Tavern with our friends beforehand. It is located near Oracle Park and super convenient before going into the park. We were seated at table outside with a nice view of the marina. Unfortunately, our waitress told us that they were completely out of draft beers when we sat down which was a bummer because the menu showed Pliny The Elder on tap and my husband was looking forward to it. We ended up ordering a Bloody Mary, Watermelon Martini, Basil Bloom and an Old-Fashioned. I wasn't a big fan of the Watermelon Martini - it tasted more cucumber than anything and I would have liked more of a Watermelon flavor. For food, we shared the Coconut Shrimp, Savory Fries and Calamari. All the food was pretty good and I could see us coming back to try other items on the menu based off that. Overall, staff were friendly and food came out fast! My only complaint was the drink which is obviously a personal preference. Check them out!
We went for dinner before heading to a Valkyries game. The restaurant is located between Chase Center and Oracle Park along the water, so game day for both teams and it's packed with people. We got a seat outside right by the water - views of the Port. A bit chilly and windy but eventually we got a heater which made it quite comfy. The sever was bouncing all over the place with lots of tables on his plate, yet he remained upbeat and friendly throughout. I started with a sazerac and it was just right. We shared arancini (delicious - with little bellies of ooey gooey cheese) and the pear & Roquefort salad, also fresh and hearty. Overall, a really convenient and tasty way to pregame!
oysters were yummy $1 each during happy hour :) only thing is that you're limited to 6 per person! tables inside & outside, this was a few weeks ago during the Pokémon x giants game & there were plenty of empty tables!
This is our go to place as it's a few minutes walking distance from our office. I went with a few coworkers to a team lunch. The service was friendly but not attentive enough. It was pouring outside. Our section was nicely sheltered, but the water concentrated on the edge and slowly rolled to the center as the table is concave in. I had giant puddles of water approaching me and leaked through everywhere. The waiter didn't notice until we asked.., tsk tsk. Otherwise, the food all came out at once. It was fast. The chicken milanese was good.
ATWater Tavern is a great spot to grab a bite to eat and drink before the Giants game. The customer service was great from our gorgeous hostess to our friendly waiter. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and this was probably the best grilled chicken sandwich I have eaten. The chicken was juicy and I loved the taste of the red pepper aioli. FYI, if you go, check out the menu ahead of time so you quickly get your order in. It's gets really busy before games and you want to get your food and eat so you have plenty of time to make the start of the game.

The tavern burger is your classic American cheeseburger with fries. I also added avocado because I like to have that creaminess to balance out the cheese and beef. The fries were great. Nice and crispy and salted well. The sauce tastes like a mix on mayo and thousand island dressing. We also ordered calamari (very soggy do not recommend) and the brussel sprouts (very yummy and had a charred flavor). Apologies, I did not get to take a photo as they were shared plates. The seating was outside although we didn't get a table near the water, but more so on the side. Overall, it's a lovely restaurant with decent food. Would recommend if you're in the area.
Stopped by for a quick happy hour bite in the afternoon. Around 3PM on a weekday, it was fairly empty. A handful of tables had people and the rest were empty. We were served quickly and attentively. We ordered 6 oysters and some jalapeño poppers. Nothing special about the poppers, but the oysters were really solid. Cant beat one dollar oysters. There is a cap on how many oysters each person can get.
My team loves coming here for lunch and then walking across the street for croissants after. The staff are always friendly and helpful and sitting outside is beautiful on a sunny day. I always get the fish and chips and for the price, they're pretty good. The aioli here is nice to add on the side to dip your fries in too. I got a strawberry lemonade and it was on the sweeter side, but I enjoyed it. The burger is also solid and I tried the chicken milanaise and it was a great lighter option.

A short 5-minute walk from the Luma Hotel. Was somewhat busy for a Tuesday night (nothing going on at the Chase Center). El Diablo cocktail was very tequila forward; really tasty. The mussels with fries were recommended to us so we tried it - mussels tasted fresh and the chorizo wine broth was very tasty. Had the golden butternut harvest salad with grilled shrimp and ate every single bite, it was so great! Our server was fantastic in always making sure we were well-taken care of. Would note that they close at 8:00 pm with kitchen taking last orders ~7:30 pm.

What's not to love. Beautiful San Francisco day sitting on a patio by the bay drinking Black Barrel Rum by Mount Gay No fog so catching some rays Need to move on but wish we could stay Guess we need to leave and pay But we will be back this way. Actually drank tequila but it didn't rhyme. Seriously, very nice and chill. We were seated right away ( dang should add that line up above) Service was excellent. Multiple people kept checking on on us. Drinks were great and only had calamari and a falafel wrap to judge food by but also tasty. Umbrellas on the patio are on wheels so easy to adjust for sun or shade which is nice. The rooftop was getting a make over with a tent while we were there. Getting ready for some the rain. We will be back to try more dishes!!! read more
Great spot! I had this place bookmarked (have I mentioned how much I love Yelp's bookmark feature?), and we got a chance to try it out after an appointment in the city. Beautiful day, and we got seated on the deck overlooking the water. Lovely. I thought about when I used to spend every gorgeous day like this holed up in an office, and shuddered. Life is too short, friends. Do what you can to break out of the matrix. But back to our beautiful setting.... We settled in and looked over the extensive menu. We started off with some cocktails and the calamari. Later on we added the falafel sandwich - props for having a vegan option! The food was tasty and the cocktails hit the spot. My favorite was the Watermelon Martini. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional. Our server quickly picked up on our leisurely vibe, and matched our unhurried pace - thank you, sir. I could have sat out here all day with my partner, but it was time to move on. We will, however, absolutely return. Thanks for a great experience, ATwater. read more

The service was phenomenal! Our waiter was extremely polite, conversational, and attentive. We came on a Monday at around 5:45 pm. There's indoor and outdoor seating available. Inside they had the games on TV which was great. Their cocktail menu has a very good selection of drinks. I got the Froze mila-rose, and it was delicious and refreshing. Food: for two people, we ordered the charcuterie board, mussels and fries, and paella to share. The charcuterie had a mix of nuts, cheese, meats, and bread. The bread was a hit! We ordered two more servings of warm fresh bread to eat with our entrees. I was most excited for paella and it did not disappoint. It was flavorful, and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. It also had lemon, mussels, squid, sausage, clams, and chorizo. The mussels and fries were tasty as well. Overall, I'd recommend this place. You can come here to watch sports, after a long day at the office, on a date, or if you're looking for some good food. They have a patio upstairs too for private events and is located along the water in Mission Bay. My only suggestion is to note the paella is quite large and it can definitely be a shared dish!! Although we only ordered three food items, we were stuffed to the max. I'll be coming back to try more items on their menu and be back for their daily happy hour. read more

One of the rare places that still offers happy hour oysters for $1!!!! Came around 3 PM, and it was not busy. The parking lot next to it is $15. HAPPY HOUR (2-5 PM): $1 oysters (24-count limit), $1 jalapeño poppers, and $1 off on drinks. Service: Workers were friendly and attentive Ambiance: Had nice outdoor seating by the ocean, and the interior had a rustic modern vibe to it. Drake Bay oysters $1 (4/5): These were freshly served with rosé mignonette sauce on ice. These were small but had great flavor. Jalapeno poppers $1 (3/5): Tasted like the frozen ones you get from the store. Nothing particularly special The Ricky $8 (3/5): Cucumber, lime, soda water. This was VERY heavy in lime and some cucumber. Pineapple ginger beer $9 (4/5): Pineapple, lime juice, ginger beer, cinnamon simple syrup, mint. This was delicious and refreshing read more
My work did a dinner here the other night and we had a great time. The appetizers food and drinks are so wonderful. Everything tasted great. The only thing that was kind of weird is I think we were still eating towards when they were closing and they started putting things away and trying to dim the lights to the point where the lights literally kept turning off so we were eating in the dark. My manager was not happy about this and kept talking about it after we'd left the restaurant because it's just weird behavior. I don't really know why they can't just close after the customers are actually outside it was just us and another small group. We paid $700 after taxes and tips for 10 people which is not bad in SF. read more
I love coming to this restaurant to enjoy a beautiful San Franciscan day. I personally just wanted a simple meal within my diet, but my friend enjoyed the delicious cheeseburger and fries. I opted for the buffalo chicken wings with the sauce on the side, and extra carrots and cucumbers on the side. Also, the Brussel sprouts were fantastic with the balsamic dressing. Our server Crystal was very sweet and treated us to a large scoop of ice cream for my birthday. Thank you ATwater for the wonderful birthday lunch! read more
We stopped at this place before attending the Giants game. As we walked up, they asked if we had a reservation and we did not. They were nice enough to see us and we got a beautiful view of the bay on their back balcony. The staff was great. I think they did a wonderful job making us feel welcome. I got the crabcake eggs Benedict and I loved it. I watched a lot of food come out and everything looked really good. We randomly picked this location and we are glad we did. We decided that we are going to make this stop before every Giants game. Of course we will make a reservation next time. There's parking all over the place because of the stadium, but it is paid to park. The great thing is, you can walk straight to the stadium right after you've had a wonderful meal. read more
I ordered the huevos rancheros, and it was not worth the price. This was the most white washed version of huevos rancheros. Usually, everything is mixed together, and ingredients were separated like they're serving a picky kid. I wouldn't come back here. read more
firstly, whatta spot! if you ask me, Atwater Tavern is a local gem, always a reliable option in the neighborhood. you can expect a crowd during baseball season, and it's always fun to chat up the locals and hear travel stories from the people stationed at the nearby dock/ships. it's a lot nicer than a dive bar despite giving the dive bar vibes, and the food is way tasty! we love sitting at the bar because you can see the TVs, chat with others, and you get great service. the bartenders are friendly and welcoming, and they always make us laugh--shoutout to Chris, Jordan, Oscar, and Diane!! if you're up for a bite, on-the-water view, and some good conversation, be sure to head over there before 8pm--their kitchen closes at 7:30 pretty consistently! read more

Took my dad for brunch before the Giants game. We sat around back on this lovely morning. Everything was good today, except that they were out of the SF City lager . No problem, they had Fort Point FSK. Dad had fish and chips, did not finish. I had the chicken sandwich, nice and cheesy. I'd go back for the full bar. read more

Stayed at the Luma Hotel across the street and valet pointed us in this direction. We wanted to finish watching the Giants game. It's located next to Port of SF & SFG / GSW parking. There is dining area and bar inside. An outside patio right on the bay. There is also a roof top bar/restaurant. Noticed a "private party" sign too. We were met by a nice host and sat a short stool-bar are at the bar. Ordered an aperole spritz and Margherita Puzza. Good menu and nice cocktail menu too. Can't wait to come back. read more
We rented out a portion of the entire place. Came here for a happy hour and promptly ordered my favorite dish on the menu- raw oysters!! This place did not disappoint at all, they were flavorful and fresh and easily the most enjoyable part of my afternoon (especially since it was competing with the Giants getting crushed by the Royals). Parking is quite rough- my friends paid $50 for it. We walked over from the Caltrain station to Oracle Park, then to ATwater Tavern!). Typically with restaurants like these that have prime real estate I find that they can be lazy with quality, but I enjoyed dining at ATwater immensely. The strawberry lemonade I ordered was really fresh and had real pulp in it. The paella was good, but the rice could've had a bit more tomato or saffron!! There was SO much seafood and protein in this dish, I was in heaven. I was in calamari/shrimp/mussel/clam/chicken heaven. We also ordered lobster ravioli, calamari, and there was popcorn/fried chicken sliders for the entire party. These were a bit stale and not seasoned very well by my standards, I also found the popcorn to have too much of a fake butter aftertaste. I would stick to the seafood here. I will say though, the day we went was blazing. Definitely unexpected for SF. Shaded spots were difficult to find/only covered half of our party- definitely bring protection if you choose to dine outdoors and enjoy sunny weather (be it in the form of an umbrella or sunscreen). read more

Came here with a friend and it was super pretty looking across the water! Good: - The pancakes were tasty - not too sweet and I liked the fresh fruit on top - The main course was tasty - it was enough to share between two people despite both of us being pretty hungry. - The vibes are good for a lazy Sunday afternoon catchup - I really liked sitting on the patio Bad: - Food took some time to arrive - Hard to flag down the waiters, we even had to get our own plates Overall this was a nice Sunday brunch experience, I liked the variety and might try more food next time. read more
I've lived in this neighborhood for over 10 years, I've dined at this restaurant pre-pandemic and post-pandemic, and I was excited to bring my family here after seeing the Cirque de Soleil show next door. It has been a couple years since I've dined here (I tend to cook at home a lot); however this was probably the most disappointing experience at any restaurant in recent memory. We were promptly seated upon arrival in the upstairs dining area (an extension that was created by a nicely heated, clear tent). We ordered the potato gnocchi, ahi tuna sandwich + fries, ahi salad, and paella. All our food came out in great time. Unfortunately, after the paella was placed in front of my dad, the server turned to walk away, then paused for a second to mention "be careful, it's hot" at literally the same time my dad yells, "ouch!" because he had just touched the serving dish. I've burned myself in the kitchen enough times to know it's important to put it under cool running water, so I had him stick his finger in the water glass at least until the server was able to fetch some ice. When a dish is that hot, it's critical that warning is given AS the dish is arriving at the table, not after. And a new water glass was not offered... My sister's potato gnocchi looked suspiciously mushy to me when it was placed on the table, but when I looked over to what she was eating, I confirmed my suspicions. The potato gnocchi was literally the texture of mashed potatoes. I don't know how that even slipped through the pass. When I brought it to our server's attention, she offered to replace it with a different entree and fix the bill accordingly. my sister opted for the impossible burger + fries. Overall, the food was pretty disappointing. I tried some of the paella and it was good, but not amazing (and maybe a little too salty). My ahi tuna sandwich was almost tasteless. The slaw had no flavor and neither did the fries. Also, ketchup wasn't even offered when fries were being delivered to the table -- we had to ask for those after the fact. My sister didn't even finish her impossible burger. And my mom's ahi salad, was also pretty basic looking. On another note, the bathrooms needed some attention with the wastebasket overflowing and the soap dispenser out of soap. I miss the old ATwater Tavern that I remembered and can only hope it gets better. read more

First time coming here and I loved the decorations and we sat in the room in the back. It's outside but covered with a plastic and heaters, not at all cold and it was freezing outside. We got some drinks which were very good and food was delicious. Our server was kind and gave suggestions when I asked. We went to the ECHO show after we ate which was perfect because it's a few steps away. Totally recommend even if you don't go to the show. Maybe before warriors/giants game. read more

What a fun place to be! Full bar! Good music! The food was fantastic with the best service! The servings of each dish had good portions! They had so many good things on the menu it was so hard to pick. They are even open for brunch! Fun place to come with a bunch of friends or for date night! read more
