However, I believe his quote was indicative of thinking we had 9K to blow on a service we already had and was familiar with. I then contacted Uriel and we discussed the quote. We had a great conversation and understood they didn't do the initial work, although I had a quote of $1700 in 2020. I reached out to the initial contractor and was quoted $2000. He indicated no infestation, no insulation needed to be replaced and he took a picture of where the open spaces were where rodents were coming in which was on top of our garage, not the crawl space. We basically went for a full package of rodent control, cleaning, and installing a new vapor shield to keep it dry. The while job took maybe 2.5 days with a crew of 3 workers each day. Outstanding quality work. First phase was sealing up the homes around the house and crawlspace, and laying traps. The attic was inspected too. This was followed up with weekly followups to ensure no more rodents. This scope was subcontracted to Golden State Critter Control. Highly recommend working with Greg. The next two phases involve cleaning and eventually reinstallation of the vapor shield. Compared to what we had before, it was day and night! I also appreciated the crew alerting me to a leaky drain pipe. I later worked with a plumber to replace a cracked 3"D drain pipe that connected upstairs to downstairs. After reviewing we decided to go with Honest Rodent Proofing, they were clear and detailed in their statement of work and very approachable to discuss our issues. On the service day, unfortunately we had an issue where the estimate was incorrect and they missed the correct sq ft of the house. Sam was able to provide a discount and we were happy to proceed. After the insulation my Heat as well as Cold is retained inside the house. Heat turns on once in a 24 Hr cycle vs multiple times in an hour previously. If you are thinking of in wall insulation, it's totally worth it. The quote was the most competitive and they were very flexible. I am still closing out the multiple holes in the wall, will take time as i prefer to do it myself- I had plans to paint anyway .

The workers arrived even earlier than expected on the day they were working on our house. They clearly had all the appropriate material and machines and equipment to do the job correctly. The reason I am not giving five stars (only 4 stars) is because of the paperwork having multiple errors, and they took weeks to get me the pictures of the before and after shots of the work they did. I asked them to correct some errors I found in the paperwork, and even found more errors and had to ask them a second time to correct the invoice for my records. I also questioned whether the correct insulation was put into a certain wall, because the paperwork was incorrect. It took a physical callback from a different person to physically check, and he didn't really seem to understand clearly what the problem was. I showed him pictures of the insulation rating that I took for that wall, and he was about ready to go and purchase the insulation and redo the specific wall I was questioning. But then he just called the installers and they told him they put the correct R-Rating on that wall and then he left. He clearly was not trained well enough, and I still don't know if the correct insulation was put on that wall. All the hassle of the paperwork correction and reinspection of the work was not necessary if they paid attention to details better. But other than the paperwork and questioning a specific wall, the actual work was professionally done and these guys clearly are a good professional organization. Just keep an eye on the paperwork and go over all the lines of work in the contract before you sign it. Don't rush and sign what they give you. Read every line on the contract to look for errors. The estimated 3-day job took 3 weeks, with schedules shifting daily, different crews, minimal work days, redundant and often incorrect communication via text and email, and no explanations of what was going on. The crews were friendly but spoke minimal English. It was difficult to understand what was done, not yet done, or not intended to be done. Once they left, the critters remained. Staff came back 3 or 4 times to seal additional openings ... to the wrong area (crawl space rather than attic). The most recent visit by Jorge was very good. He had good English so his explanations were understandable and helpful. He found and fixed two more openings - these at roof level - and recommended a spray that can repel rodents from returning. I bought and used that (why don't they do that themselves?) and the first night at least was the first "quiet" night in months.
