This was the worst meal we had in the 5 days we were on Martha's Vineyard. They ask if you want bread and proceed to put 3 pieces of cold bread on the table. You have to request butter as well. The crab cakes were bland and uninspired. My husband had the wok fried lobster that, as a seasoned lobster eater, he found impossible to crack open. I asked if I could have the gazpacho without the prawns because I am vegetarian. The server brought me a thimble of gazpacho and slimy prawns on the side. I asked the server to remove this appetizer. Certainly not worth $20. The Brussels sprout and kale salad was not what I expected either. After discussing the issues with the manager, she let me know that's the way it is and made no attempt to correct any of the issues. I will never go back and suggest you go to L'etoille instead. We had our best meal there including great service. read more

Terrible experience. Owner was not accommodating whatsoever. Worst customer service in Martha's Vineyard.

Cross posting this because I assume the co located restaurants have the same person hiring, making this review relevant here as well. Cheers. The host botched our reservation, in multiple ways. I was in the service industry, and her explanations and excuses could fill a comedy set. Desire to take responsibility approaching bankruptcy. Evidently when asked to add 2 people to a reservation for 8, the reservation was turned into a reservation FOR 2. I watched her confirm that the phone number on file was correct. I also heard her co-worker comment that "they are already seated" while the 10 of us stood in front of her. This is to say, I'm their computer system they had managed to "seat" the two guests, prior to anyone arriving. This led to them not being able to find the reservation at all by name for several minutes. While waiting for our trumped up reservation at the bar, I was physically pushed by a guest, in front of several staff. One server literally used the gap created in the crowd by this guest pushing me, to go by, ignoring the situation entirely. A several minute confrontation ensued, still in front of staff, where he pushed his face inches from mine, cursed and continued to bully me, for a completely unexplained reason. This small underground room was literally quieted by the commotion. I walked away, the intentionally oblivious staff was seating our party, never wanting to talk to this guy in the first place. We asked for a manager to come to our table. The host (or manager who can't take reservations?) who screwed up our reservation shows up. After talking to me, she proceeded to ignore the unruly guest and go talk to the staff. Another 20 minute go by, while Our table is still fielding glares from this guy at the bar. Servers are coming over as if we're hunky dory and ready to order.... a new manager shows up, Jelena, she informs me that none of her servers detected anything at all, and that her security cameras don't show that part of the bar. She claims that "there is nothing she can do". To be clear, I didn't ask for anything because I know how much latitude is given to managers in restaurants to make customers happy. She thinks I believe that she can't ask any guest she wants to leave. She thinks I believe she couldn't come the whole table and give us gift cards to try and repair the establishment in our eyes. Appetite gone, I'm sitting here being glared at by a stranger, for an unknown slight wondering where the decency has gone. The issue, is that your management refused to intervene in any way. Had anyone taken the situation seriously it would have extinguished immediately. If anything your staff was callus. I'm not surprised in the slightest that I'm now reading a third version of events from another person who wasn't there, that's about the only consistent thing I see here. 1 star staff, 1 star reply. read more

We had a reservation here for a Saturday dinner recently. It has been highly recommended to us by our inn, and some acquaintances. We walked by the garden one day and it looked very inviting so we decided to come here for dinner. We asked when we made the reservation to be seated outdoors. We got to the restaurant at the time of our reservation (830 pm) and the porch/garden area was maybe 30% full. We checked in with the host, who was not friendly, did not acknowledge us and asked another hostess to seat us. We were taken to a table inside. We asked if we could be seated outside and with a lot of attitude they said it would be a wait, we said we were willing to wait, within 8 minutes they sat us in the tented area of the porch in the back next to the dishwasher. It was very uncomfortable and loud, and the tent was still very empty, maybe 5 tables were filled. Now we are ordering our food, we got the coconut shrimp (maybe this was reheated Bc the shrimp was so tough), the fried 2lb lobster and a side of broccolini. The lobster was delicious but it was very rich and a huge portion which was a little messy to eat. When we ordered and mentioned that we would be sharing our dinner, no one mentioned there would be a sharing fee. Yet on our bill there was a 6$ sharing fee for splitting the entree, 6$ is not a big deal but maybe a good idea to share hidden fees. The side of broccoli was just ok. The wine sommelier was very polite and helpful, the service otherwise was very strained and not comfortable. We ordered layer cake for dessert, not great either. All in all this was a massively disappointing meal. The food wasn't great, the service wasn't great and the setting although beautiful was not for us to enjoy as they preferred to hide us near the dishwasher while their restaurant was relatively empty. read more

In 2018 I spoke to atria in several occasions to start planning my what I'd hope to be 2019 wedding. After a wonderful visit and dinner, I called the following week to firm up the plans and make the deposit at the date and time confirmed with Atria. My contact never called and never returned my call or emails to make the deposit. I was disheartened with the lack of response, so I followed up saying I would not be moving forward. We recently had to change our current plans due to the pandemic, so I thought I would consider Atria again. After calling, leaving a message with the front desk and sending a few emails over the past couple months still no response. Atria has a beautiful space and food, but disappointed on the communication and crossing this off my list as the top choice for my wedding. read more

Wonderful atmosphere. Great service. After a stroll through the side garden where children were laughing and playing around the tree swing, we were seated "outside" under the big-top tent. It was a little difficult to hold a conversation across our table of seven due to the acoustics, but that didn't detract from very nice evening. read more

You can't go wrong with Atria ... fine dining or the burger cellar, we love them both. I find it hard to pass on the calamari but the other night I went with the frenchy burger and it is PERFECT. Anything with st.andre can't be bad. The lobster is always good. The pizza outside is a fun option too. Love the bartender...lots of limes! read more

Juliet was my bartender down stairs at the bar she was great! Very attentive always helpful and great taste in music she had a great pandora station going! Food was incredible the braised pork lettuce wraps were amazing the burger I got was just as amazing yes it can be pricy but so worth it! A must when going to the island! Can't wait to keep coming back!!! Thank you Juliet and the rest of the staff at Atria! read more

Great restaurant, the more formal dining room upstairs serves higher end fare. Don't miss the braised pork shoulder and truffle fries with bernaise sauce. The carrot cake (which is about the size of your head) was also delicious. Ceasar salad was also really good. We ate here twice. The casual burger bar was also very good and not very expensive. I had the McRiff burger, which was a high end riff on a McDonald's quarter pounder. A fun way to spend the evening. read more

As usual the food was good, not great. However the service was dismal. At first service was rushed and then it turned glacial. 15 minutes to get a drink refill and 20 minutes to get desert. In the mean time the waiter was not available. Living off their laurels. The wait staff speaks limited English! read more

The next time you're on Martha's Vineyard, be sure to enjoy the beautiful setting at Atria in Edgartown. Our dinner there this summer was flawless, with local flavors of the land and sea. You can dine outside under lights strung across the front lawn, on the sheltered patio or inside the charming well-appointed house like we did. Our group of four shared the lobster stuffed with scallops, shrimp and big pieces of lobster meat as an appetizer and then came the generous locally sourced duck, pork and short ribs entrees. We had a light dessert of home-made greek frozen yogurt topped with local honey and fruit. Atria gets an "A" in all categories: food, service, ambiance & hospitality! read more

Burger for which they are famous was wildly over cooked. But my real problem is that they tell you they have no room until after 9 and then you discover they had empty tables all along. It is almost as if they are saving them for a possible someone more important. read more

I've never dined in the main dining room because I am a devotee of the cellar. They make a burger that you will dream about. They have a great beer selection too. Be sure to call and make reservations (yes to eat a burger in the cellar). It's small and fills up quick. read more

I was very disappointed in Atria and their customer service. We have been going to Atria as a family since my children were small experiencing the fine dining area and the Cellar. When my oldest daughter got married we rented the whole restaurant for the rehearsal and welcome party. It was a wonderful evening and quite expense covering over $40000.00. We have continued to support this restaurant and take our family for dinner there with our new grandchildren. . So you can imagine my frustration when trying several times to get at 5:30 reservation in the Cellar . One night we arrived there and there was no room; we sat at the bar with our two grandchildren comprised for seating and had to eat within 20 minutes because we were so uncomfortable . As we were leaving we saw every table downstairs open. When asking why they didn't move us they said they had other people coming. Where were they, the whole restaurant ? We decided to give another try for a 5:30 reservation again in the Cellar for several nights to no avail. We had friends coming to visit us at the Vineyard and they requested we go to Atria for the burgers they like so much. Knowing they had no reservations, I asked if we could order 11 of the same burgers to go and make an exception for the summer . There response was come at 5:45 or no deal. We wouldn't even be back from our late lunch to pick up that early. I asked if we could come at 6:30 and they couldn't accommodate us. Who do they think they are ?!? I asked to speak to someone about this and they called back defending their poor customer service. I can only hope that you don't have to deal with the poor customer service that our family had to endure after dumping so much money into a restaurant . It is such a poor tactic when you have the customer not come first . It is basic etiquette! read more

No coffee???? How strange. Nice wait staff. Oversized portions. Different from other high priced restaurants on the Vineyard. Not sure.

The restaurant was beautiful and outdoor patio quite lovely. The food did not live up to expectations on all fronts.....although the salad was great, the cod entree had way too much going on, and wasn't hot when it came out. The service was OK, not great. Had to ask for water refills, and I hate it when your appetizers come before your drinks. read more

This was one of the greatest disappointments I have ever experienced in a restaurant. The appetizers came out, and the portions were huge, and were decent. Nothing inventive, new, or to order again. It was the entrees that ruined it for all four of us. As a former chef of a best of Boston restaurant I know my seafood. When my wife and I got our striped bass there were 4 things that appalled me right off the bat: 1. We had different plates with different plating and different amounts of food on our plates for the same dish at the same table!!! 2. There were slices of heirloom tomato on the dist. my wife had 4 large slices, and I had 2 small slices. to add insult to injury we both had the bottom of a tomoato.....a section that is never served unless you are at TGI Friday's on a bad day!!! 3. The lobster on the plate....I had a dozen pieces, and my wife had only 2 pieces of lobster, and her plate was literally twice the size of my plate. This made her dish look even more pathetic. 4. The portion size was anemic at best. I know my fish, and striped bass is my favorite. I have personally portioned hundreds of pounds of this species. The portions were 4 ounces at best, and for $38 this is more ridiculous than a beer and hot dog at Fenway Park After the initial shock I was disappointed even further. The two other people at the table had a $32 swordfish dish. They had about 6-7 ounces of fish, cold mashed potatoes, and an unappetizing mix of greens hiding the entire dish. This was also a disappointing plate. My wife had cold mashed potatoes and room temperature fish. I had cold mashed potatoes and an overcooked bass flavored piece of jerky. I sent it back (I send food back about once every other year at most). They brought me the scallops instead. Theses were decent, but once again I was embarrassed for the kitchen. The scallops had been seared only on one side. From personal experience I know that they simply threw the scallops on the pan and tossed the whole thing in the oven. The scallops were good, but the rest of the dish seemed to be constructed as though some cook walked into the kitchen and picked out a bunch of ingredients and threw them together with no concern about balancing flavors and using complimentary flavors to allow such a beautiful ingredient as scallops shine to their full potential. If you want to pay a ton of money for mediocre service, amazing decor & atmosphere, food that is pretty for the most part, and could care less about having small portions that have been half-assed onto a plate by a bunch of hack-cooks go make a reservation, or you could find any other restaurant on the Vineyard instead. read more

We "dined" at Atria with friends - a group of six-on 8/31. We were recommended to this restaurant and told it was one of the best in the Vineyard. It's possible it was an off night as far as the food went. All but one of the entrees ordered came out cold, including the three additional side dishes we ordered. We called over the waitress who sent the manager to our table. She was visibly annoyed, especially when my friend asked her to make sure the sides came out at the same time as the new plates. As she walked away, we saw her shaking her head as if we had annoyed her. So unprofessional. When the dishes came back, it was obvious to us that they had been re- heated instead of re- made, as they were haphazardly plated and the fish was dried out. The poor service and poor food ruined the entire evening for us. The manager and waitress were unapologetic, and the manager was especially rude and seemed annoyed by us, as if it was all our fault. I highly recommend not to eat at this restaurant if you want to enjoy a fine dining experience. It is overpriced, has poor service and appalling management. I would give it 0 stars if I could. read more

I have been holding off on this review for quite some time hoping that one of the 5 calls/messages I put in to the restaurant would be returned. On October 21st my wife and I made reservations at the Brick Cellar Bar. We were promptly seated upon arrival and were excited to start dinning. Unfortunately, things went south very quickly. Fifteen minutes passed before our server even spoke to us. When she did arrive, we ordered a round of cocktails, appetizer, the portabella sandwich and one of their signature burgers. This would be the last we would see of our server for at least the next 35 minutes. The drinks and food arrived via food runners. Our server never returned to the table to check on our food or experience. After 35 minutes, I asked one of the busboys/food runners if he could find our server so I could order another glass of scotch. He searched high and low and couldn't locate her and even came back and asked us if she had come by yet. After about 10 minutes, we both spotted her socializing on the other side of the restaurant. He then got her attention and she strolled over, visibly annoyed that we were in need of something. I ordered another glass of scotch ($25- $30) per glass. After about 5 minutes we noticed the bartender place the drink on the service bar for the server to pick up. Problem....our server is once again socializing instead of serving... At this point we are shocked and just wait and watch... My watered down glass of scotch ($25 -$30) arrives about 12 minutes later. At this point, I believe it was obvious to our server that we were clearly annoyed with our experience.... We asked for the check only to find that 20% gratuity had been added to a TABLE OF TWO. We found this absurd! Never in my thousands of dining experiences have I seen gratuity added to a table of two. We questioned this and were smugly told that due to a "half price burger" special (that we were unaware of), gratuity is automatically added. Our server claimed the computer couldn't be changed, smirked, and walked away. Our service certainly didn't warrant 20% so we looked for a manager but the restaurant appeared to be closing and there was no one to be found. As I mentioned earlier, I tried calling several times to discuss our experience but never received a return call. It was a shame that the service was so poor because the kitchen did everything they could to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. The food was great but it was overshadowed by some of the worst service and treatment I have ever experienced. We were shocked that this was allowed in an establishment that considers itself of the elite Vineyard restaurants. Based on our experience, this is not a restaurant I can recommend. read more

A steep drop in service combined with a bad attitude and a decline in food quality take this off the top of my Vineyard restaurant list. I'm aware that they are now operating at least one more restaurant, so hopefully they've just taken their eye off the ball. Otoh, this could be the beginning of the end of the best place to have dinner on the island. It started when they messed up our reservation and then hassled us despite the fact they had tables to accommodate us. Our server in the basement bar area didn't know the menu, and whoever was mixing drinks that night didn't know how to make a single decent cocktail. After very mediocre appetizers, the only dinner we liked was the burgers. The fish and chicken entrees we ordered were all well below the quality we used to enjoy there. We'll give it one more try next summer, then it's off the list. read more

The expectations were high but the experience was terrible. We had a party of 6 and in 4 cases our food arrived COLD. Two of our appetizers arrived COLD. We spoke to the manager who appeared disturbed that we were bothering her but she said she would take care of it. We did not get new entrees. What we did get were dried out food that appeared to be our original food microwaved. Some of the veggies on our original plates weren't even replaced and the presentation was nowhere like a fresh entree. Hardly enticing. The manager was extremely rude. We asked why we were denied a sampling of one of their DRAFT beers and she claimed it was against MA law to provide a tasting of a draft beer to a customer. Sorry, we come from MA and a local restaurant right down the street disagreed. That was a blatant lie! Not the way a restaurant manager should work with customers. We won't be back. read more

We had dinner downstairs at the Brick Cellar this past weekend. Sat in the bar and area and waited 15 minutes for someone to come over and ask us if we were all set. While waiting, we overheard the bartender say to another patron they had William Hill Chardonnay by the glass and when we ordered the wine - a glass of red and a glass of the William Hill the waitress seemed totally confused and informed us they didn't sell that by the glass. We told her that we overheard the bartender tell someone else that they had William Hill by the glass - our waitress told us she would check and asked the bartender if they had William Hill by the glass and the bartender replied "just open another". After sometime waiting we we given menus and ordered a bottle of the red I was drinking. When the waitress finished pouring the red, she sat the bottle down on top of my wine glass and you guessed it - red wine everywhere. Hey accidents happen and I totally understand that. After assisting in the clean up of the wine and glass shards on the table she brought a new bottle to us. I then asked another waitress for some club soda to try to save my shirt from being permanently stained. She came right over with the club soda with some cocktail napkins. After a bit, our first waitress reappeared oblivious I was still cleaning my self up from my red wine bath and asked if we'd like to place our order. The burgers we ordered were very good although no one asked or seemed to care as we had to ask another wait staff member for some place settings . Upon getting the check we paid and left. After thinking about the entire experience I'd say just because you're one of the few places open in town, on island at this time of the year with a good product doesn't make you immune to your guests and their comfort. It would have been nice for someone on the staff (possibly the. manager??) to come over and make sure everything was okay and at least make the offer to pay for the dry cleaning bill I'm now going to incur. read more

Stayed right across the street at the Hob Nob Inn ( how convenient). Went to Atria the first night we were in Martha's Vineyard. Cancelled the second night's plan in order to go back to Atria, and brought other people who were also staying at the Hob Nob. The food was that good. Especially loved the wok fired lobster. Also the coconut crusted prawns. All the fish is fresh, fresh, fresh and they also use organic local produce. Lovely decor, great service, cannot rave enough. read more

This was the best meal I have had in months. We started with an artichoke stuffed with St. Andrews cheese & bread crumbs. A great appetizer that had a wonderful balance of salty, crunchy, and savory. My wife had "Cod is Good, Cod is Great" a dish of cod wrapped in prosciutto, over a bed of couscous with lobster. It was a delicate dish that really complemented the cod, without overpowering it via the lobster or proscuitto. I had the babyback ribs with a cucumber-mojo sauce, lentils w/ slab bacon, and a greens w/ plantain chips. The entire thing was amazing. The ribs were very tender and the sauce had a mild sweet heat that was perfect. The lentils were so good, I wanted to fill an entire lake with them and then swim through it like Augustus Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The entire dinner was wonderful and the menu has a really interesting mix of traditional Vineyard fare (lobster, cod, NY strip) done with creative, almost playful, recipes. We're going back here next time we get to Martha's Vineyard. read more

We ate in the downstairs bar area and had a great experience. The bartender was friendly and prompt with service and the drinks were stellar. This review is for Atria Grill - the downstairs "pub" that is known for its burgers. We've always dined upstairs in the upscale dining room and loved it, but decided to give the burgers a try downstairs. The area is dark and musty and, quite frankly, the burgers were disappointing. The fries were too salty. We'll stick to the fancier dining room upstairs, since the food there is never disappointing and the atmosphere more appealing and upscale. read more

We had a most unfortunate experience with Atria, brick cellar. We had a reservation for 8 people at 9pm. 2 of us arrived early at 8:15 pm to get a drink at the outside bar. 2 drinks took 30 minutes to arrive. The outside bartender was very pleasant, however it was very obvious she was overextended and they were understaffed. Meanwhile, the rest of the party checked in. They were rudely told by the hostesses that the reservation was for 9:15. We clearly made the reservation for 9PM, but 15 minutes doesn't seem so bad, so no big deal. Wrong. 30 minutes later, we were finally sat. The cellar was extremely warm and sticky. Our waitress was attentive at first. We ordered drinks and a few appetizers straight away. They all came quickly. We all ordered burgers. All 8 of us. 45 minutes after our appetizers arrived, we still had no waitress or burgers. It seemed the entire staff had gone missing. At this point it was about 10:30 PM, and we were all a bit hangry to say the least. We finally found someone, and they put in a request for our food. Minutes later our food arrived. Luke warm and some food tasted like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for 30 minutes. It did not taste fresh, whatsoever. I personally sent my burger back as it was somehow both overdone and raw. It was like a chewy and tough mush patty. The manager came over to both apologize and insult me at the same time. I apologized for sending back my burger, and he then went on to tell me that is how the burgers are cooked. Cheeseburgers are by far my favorite food. If Atria thinks that my burger is how burgers are cooked, they should probably work for McDonalds. There were 2 gentlemen who were extremely nice and came over to apologize. I think they were our bus boy and another server. I feel badly that they work at such an awful place. Our waitress never came back. In the end, the 2 people that paid for the meal asked to talk to the manager. They were told, in yet another aloof and condescendingly manner, that there was "nothing he could do" and to try again when we are back next year, and "maybe we can do something then". I'm appalled and embarrassed for this restaurant. We went on to have lovely meals at The Newes and The Atlantic. Skip this place. This is a review for the Brick Cellar portion of the restaurant that serves hamburgers. Atmosphere down there is very cool, but our burgers were pre-cooked. Atria was the best dinner out on the vineyard this past weekend. To start, the service there is very elevated yet warm and family-like. Roc is one of the best servers I've encountered anywhere! Make sure to get the truffle fries with béarnaise dipping sauce - it was life changing. The Caesar salad is also not to be missed! For main, I had the special lamb roast medallions which was delicious. And to too everything off, chocolate molten cake with coffee ice cream. It was decadent but not too sweet. I love this place! They also serve lunch and host yoga in the morning. I'm guessing it's a service out of obligation for the delicious food they serve you. I kid. read more

Avoid. $16 for a children's salad that was only leaves and no tomatoes, onions, or any vegetables is extortion.
