Baja bowl w/ steak: This was fine, nothing very special or unique, just solid. I would have preferred bit more steak, but otherwise this was a good non fish option. Carne asada tacos: These are decent tacos but they aren't going to blow your socks off. The hot sauce helped a lot. The rest of my party really emjoyed their Poke bowls, lobster rolls, oysters, and shrimp tacos Churros: Two dipping sauces and three extra long church's were really good! Quickly greeted and seated on the front patio area with couch and surrounding low stools (if you need back support I would recommend sitting inside) we were promptly served. I had their frose cocktail which was well mixed and refreshing. The elote was more of a chilled dip which was different for me and it was very spicy. My order: Fish and chips (gluten free) and margarita with Tajin The Review: I can't pass up a beautiful patio, and Fish was perfect. We were greeted by very attentive staff, who explained all of the gluten free options (which were plentiful). Most importantly, the margaritas were strong and we were able to choose the rim, so we went with Tajin! As for the food, it's not every day that you find GF fish and chips, so we went for it. It was delicious and crunchy, with a great tartar sauce. Why four stars? The slaw was a bit drenched in sauce and thus difficult to eat--I would have loved a crisp and crunchy slaw. Additionally, we got French fries that were still frozen mixed in with cooked ones. Luckily, the staff speedily replaced them. Yum!!! Can be the one and only word to describe this gem. Got their lobster roll "warm" didn't see it on the menu but you can order it. A ton of lobster. With lobster rolls...it can be overly dressed or you let the lobster speak for itself. In this case the I think the lobster coulda used a touch more butter. The bread was buttered and toasted to perfection! The clam chowder was out of this world. Creamy, rich, flavorful, garlicky... I had last bit I could gather from the bowl. The long awaited opening of FISH, or Fish MV has arrived. The menu is clearly a cut above most other seafood restaurants in Vineyardhaven and so is the level of service and feel. The feel is upscale casual - certainly comfortable. To become the leader on fresh seafood, FISH will have to maintain a solid level of exceptionally fresh food for an extended period of time. The current champs being The Net Result and Sandy's. The staff is exceptional in every way. They are friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming, polite and professional The outside seating on the deck was brisk all day. It's brand new and huge!! The menu is interesting and large enough to offer something for everyone. Kids are welcome. Everything is done right, or done to order. The calamari for example was light, greaseless, and offered Rhode Island style which means hot peppers - unless you ask they not be included. Time to work my way through the menu. We ate here on 09/18/2024. Loved it! Enjoyed happy hour on the outdoor deck. The tables are comfortably spaced, good ambiance, nice view, nice level of background music. The happy hour specials included crab cakes, fried oysters, ceviche, and shrimp cocktail, among other small bites. Everything was well prepared and delicious! Probably the best fried oysters we've ever had. Good wine selection. too. The bottle of pinot noir was very good and was a nice match for the food. The staff was super nice, too. Very helpful in figuring out the menu and making recommendations. Service was timed just right - not too fast or too slow. There is no better place on the Vineyard to sit on the deck, enjoy the ferry coming into port, sipping a mojito or margarita and eating some appetizers and watching the sunset! The addition of the overhead sails offer necessary shade and the later night after sunset heaters are perfectly placed to keep you comfortable. This IS the place for a cocktail and a bite to grab. Sit near the decks edge to be a people watcher of everyone in town that comes by!! I'll be back often!! My place for summer of 2022! read more

Here is review of a restaurant that is one "not" to experience. Fish Tales MV is the kind of resort place you find all over: over inflating all the prices. ($21 Dollars for tortilla chips and bland salsa and guacamole. And not a large sharing amount either. ) The ordering experience is weird... you order inside... but the wait time was crazy. We waited for an hour for some poke bowls and we were one of the last tables on a Monday Night. The reason I was given for the wait was they had a 16 top. I hate being told "we had a 16 top". Is this a proper excuse for 5 paying patrons to have a bad experience? We had to wait for our food with no word from the waitstaff or apology. No one offered my party of 5 any thing to make up for an hour wait. We were finally told the kitchen was closing so we said we have been waiting forever for our meals. We asked for more tortilla chips, the $21 chips. We were told we had to pay extra for extra tortilla Chips. Really? When the food came out, it was totally lacking in flavor. No seasoning. I am not a salt user. I had to beg for salt for my pork belly bowl. When the other people in my party asked for soy sauce, we were told that may be extra. Pay for Soy Sauce for bland food? The chef did not do his job. I so wanted to like this dinner. We were starved. The kitchen turned out the most flavorless food. Please someone send that chef on a culinary tour to find out about flavor. The food I had at the airport restaurant before I left this morning was so flavorful compared to this meal at Fish MV and cheaper. The pork belly bowl as a great concept. The quality of the ingredients shows that the chef knows something. But no flavor! The spicy mango salsa was one note and like an ice cream sundae topping. The poke bowls were bland as well. The fish was fresh, but the flavor elusive once again. . The manager gave us a $50 gift card after I told one waitress how horrible it was when I had to wait inside for the salt. Was expecting a bit more from how popular this place seems/ other reviews. Got a fish burrito bowl and sushiritto and chowder.Chowddr was definitely the favorite. Burrito bowl was lacking flavor and all the salsa it had was just mango so I had to add my own to add in some flavor. My dad had the sushiritto and although pretty he said it wasn't very good. We were looking forward to trying this place out! Unfortunately it did not deliver. I'm not mad at the pricing but without the quality or quantity it's a definite bust. Fish Ceviche was flavorless, dry, forgettable. Didn't taste any lime. There didn't seem to be much else in there except the fish. We sent it back. Fish tacos had potential. But no salsa to speak of. The mango chunks seemed frozen and thawed and were not blended with any sort of salsa or other flavor. The tortillas were coldish as well. For the price point of over 10$ per taco each bite should be amazing. The tuna poke was not poke but more so sashimi with rice, sauce and few veggies. It lacked the classic poke teriyaki soy ginger sesame etc flavors. The tuna was just passable as sushi grade. The clam chowder was not chowder in that there was not a cream base to it. Very confusing. Call it something else and elevate the flavor profile maybe? The mojito was not strong enough and the club soda was flat making it taste even more watered down. For 16$. More sugar. More rum please. With tip we spent close to $100 and honestly nothing stood out. Everything was blah or disappointing. One star for the outdoor seating , which was great. Also the servers were nice and polite but had a weak menu so couldn't really get you excited about anything. They seemed to be hiding a bit. Hopefully they can figure out how to make this place work. Incredible! Had a bunch of mediocre meals but was very impressed with this restaurant. We ordered fried calamari, crab cakes, poke bowl and a sushiritto. For drinks we had a cucumber water and tequila drink which was very refreshing, and an aperol spritz which was well made. Calamari was good, and came with 3 different sauces to dip in which gave a nice variety. An aioli sauce, a spicy sauce and a cocktail type sauce. Only downfall was it was all rings no tentacles. Crab cakes were made perfectly and were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The sushiritto is unique and filling. Came with your choice of fish, avocado, cucumbers and seaweed salad rolled up and then cut like a burrito. The outside was wrapped in soy paper to keep it contained and easy to eat. The poke bowl was the best thing, very large bowl of fresh fish, seaweed salad, cucumbers, avocado, spicy mayo and poke sauce. Also had some macadamia nuts which I thought was weird but actually complimented the soft rice nicely. One of the best places I ate on the island! Outdoor seating is great, and I actually liked the go up to the window, order your food/drinks, pay there and they will bring your order out to you system.
