Shayne and Deep Blue Barber shop is a gem. The place is nice and minimalistic in a very thoughtful way. The scheduling online and electronic payment options are great. Shayne uses great products and always takes care of his razors. His neck shaves are a delight, and if I needed a neck shave or was up for a old school or hipster cut I would have no hesitations he'd get it right. I appreciate that he allows the options to schedule a 15 minute perimeter trim for low mulah. Shayne is professional and has taken great care to fill his shop only when a great barber such as himself will saddle up in one of the two chairs beside him. Hours are good and location is nice.

There are a few barbers who are consistently good.....and there are a few who unfortunately have been consistently unsatisfactory. I am a very forgiving guy and am still planning on patronizing this business, but will probably opt for a different barber in the future. The last two times I have been there, the gent cutting my hair has spent at least equal if not more time on his phone than he does cutting my hair...trying to make it look like he's doing something by blindly spraying or doing something to make it look like he's being attentive. I appreciate the sentiment, but my body language could not have been clearer that it was getting to be more than a little bit irritating that he's half-assing the job, especially when I emphasized how important this haircut is, as I have important appointments in the very near future and need to look presentable. When I walked in, I WANTED to wait for the gent with the buzzcut who always does an amazing job, and is very friendly....but I gave this guy a second chance....and for the second time, the "line-up" is very wavy, and for the second time, he nicked my neck in the process. LUCKILY I had a bit of extra neck whiskers to work with prior to going in, because I had to dip into that when I had to fix my own lineup. I am used to coming home from Supercuts and essentially giving myself a second haircut...I really didn't want to do it coming home from here, and hopefully, when I change barbers, I won't have to worry about that. Honestly, this cut is so subsatisfactory that I am toying with the idea of rescheduling some of the appointments until it grows in a bit. This place is cash-only and I made sure I had enough plus enough for a tip.... When he was done botching my coiffe, I gave him the exact amount, made it clear that I do not wish to have him cut my hair again, and on the way out, I'm 99.9% sure I heard the gent utter derogatory expletive. I have worked in the customer-service industry for over 25 years, and I know people have bad days, and some guests have high standards and all that jazz, but this isn't a one-off thing here. They take their time where it matters and pay attention to every little detail until everything is right. These guys are artists. You can tell they take real pride in their work, and I've always walked out happy with the result. The new shop is a huge upgrade too.
