The consultation was about 20 min and she drew on my arm detailing exactly what she would be doing and then traced that. No question was left unanswered. I then had multiple two hour sessions which I wasn't used to in my previous longer tattoo sessions, which was great. Elize always made sure I was comfortable, played awesome music, and always checked in on me to see if I was hanging in. Best tattoo experiences I've ever had, hands down. I refer this shop to literally everyone. Her books are closed right now, but I cannot wait to come to the new shop for another piece!

Once at the studio, Jimmy refused to even let me pick my own font for my tattoo, taking total control of a permanent design. Despite downsizing the piece to just two small words in a basic font, he still squeezed me for the full $150 ($100 deposit + $50 balance). Holding deposits hostage to force inflated pricing and deny basic client choices is completely predatory. The chair experience was just as bad. Jimmy lied about placement pain, claiming the lower back hurt less than the back of the neck, forced me to straddle a motorcycle seat instead of a clean table, and repeatedly rubbed his leg against mine during the session. He then provided zero aftercare until I explicitly asked for Second Skin myself. Absolute lack of professionalism, safety, and boundary respect.

About a month ago I was checking online for some quality barber shops in the Boston area and stumbled upon Boston Barber Co. Unfortunately my long time barber from another place recently went down to part time and it's near impossible to snag an appointment with her. Needless to say, a long time had passed and I was in dire need of a haircut. I was hesitant to try a new place since I've been seeing her for many years but the reviews here really impressed me and I decided to give it a shot. I stopped in on a Wednesday evening and there was a good amount of customers waiting to get a haircut. I had just finished work, exhausted and was an absolute mess and the young gentleman at the front desk couldn't have been more courteous. He made sure I had a place to hang my coat, workbag and directed me where to sign in. I happened to get Benny. Extremely talented barber and super professional. I had a lot of product in my hair that day and thought that might be a problem. He let me know that it wouldn't be and asked how I wanted my haircut. The amazing part is I showed him a photo of myself 6 years ago. He took a quick glance and replicated it PERFECTLY. The other barbers were really cool too. I was really tired that day so I just let Benny do his thing. There was a lot of fun banter between the barbers which made me feel really comfortable. It's awful to go into an establishment where you can tell that the staff are either rushed or don't want to be there but you could really sense that they're all like family, happy to be there and very passionate about what they do. This is not to say Benny wasn't focused on me. He was very cognizant of all the details of my haircut. I wasn't sure how short I wanted my sides and he assured me that he could always go back if I wanted the sides shorter. He made sure the back was tapered to my liking along with all those small details that go into a great haircut. Again, very talented guy and super friendly. At the end, he made sure everything was to my liking, styled my hair and I also grabbed some pomade that he recommended which I really like. Shout outs to Benny and the Boston Barber crew. I have been a frequent customer at Boston Barber Co. and usually have a great experience but today I was disappointed with the service. I had my haircut today by Sarah and she was rude from the start. When I walked in the door she asked if I was waiting for anyone and I replied, "no." She asked what I wanted done and I started to say my beard and before I could go on she interrupted me with an attitude and she said, "that's it?" I continued to say I also wanted a haircut and she said, "let's focus on the hair for now and worry about the beard later." As she was cutting my hair I asked if I could have my hair faded into the top part and she replied with an attitude, "I haven't even stated yet." As she started to do my beard with the chair halfway back all of a sudden she decided she will just finish it with the chair straight up which gave me the impression she didn't know what she was doing. Overall my haircut was uneven and the top of my head was cut too short even though I expressed I only wanted a little off the top. I wasn't so much disappointed with the haircut as I was with the service and the attitude. Usually I have a good experience at the Boston Barber Co. and maybe Sarah was having a bad day but I was very disappointed with today's service. read more

After seeing someone put up a fake review about this barbershop and some of its employees I thought I'd share this quick story. I was in the hospital for a month at one point in my life, very sick. Not liking what I saw in the mirror. Also, I'm a once a week haircut kinda guy, so I was losing it. I wasn't even a customer at the shop anymore at this point because my barber had been let go and I chose to follow him just because I had gotten so used to how he cut my hair, I couldn't imagine going to anyone else. I couldn't get him to come up to clean me up no matter what I offered. I was very good to this person over the years too. Like at no point should my barber owe me money let's just say that. Anyway. It wasn't my barber that came up to cut my hair and make me feel just a little bit better about myself, it was the OWNER of the Boston Barber Shop and Tattoo Co. (he didn't send one of his barbers up there to do it) after a long day of taking care of two different shops and everything else he has going on, he packed his bag with his tools and walked over to the hospital in middle of December to my surprise just to do that for me. This is the best barber shop this side of the Milky Way galaxy. Old school vibe with new style flare. All the barbers are pros and personable. If my bald fade got any balder my head would be scalped like redsox tickets on yawkey way. As soon as u enter the shop you hear those thick accents and know your home. Azad is a little to quite tho, tell that guy to speak up would ya. The str8 razors are sharper then a hahvad graduate. I don't just come here for a haircut I come for the laughs and the memories. I could ride into the shop on a half dead donkey and leave on a god damn unicorn. Benny might be "300 lbs" but he's a teddy bear, love that guy. Steve seems like a Southie kid but I can't quite pin point where he's from maybe he's a townie.. great kid tho, killer cut.. and he brings in cookies who doesn't like cookies? Sarah is a riot as well easy on the eyes also.. and Nikki that's momma bear best cut in town. The best indication of a good barber is if when he changes venues his clients follow him wherever he goes, and that's what happened in my case. When Benny left where he was to take over the shop in Beacon Hill, me and my business, subsequently, went with him. The staff he hired is excellent, as is the price they charge. When I want my hair cut short and simple, they deliver. When my girl voices her opinion and I acquiesce, thus, keeping it longer and more stylish, they deliver as well. I'm not living in the 1950's nor am I a "metro-sexual" either; this barber shop can cater to men like myself, who fall somewhere in between, and that's what distinguishes it from any other barber shop in the city. The entire staff is welcoming and talented, I've never waited more than 10 minutes, and both myself (and my girl) have always been very happy with the result.....what more is there to say? read more

I would not get your hair cut by Troy. guy got visibly angry after I asked him to make an adjustment mid way through the cut. Started shaking his head, throwing his tools around and proceeded to start cutting the back of my head carelessly when I told him many times I was happy with the length in the back. Guy is a grown man who can't control his emotions. not to mention he stopped my cut to pull out his phone multiple times. He later threatened me via text message when I said I would not take the review down. also he charged my card on file twice one for 42$ and 50$ when I clearly paid in cash as that is the only way your allowed to pay there. Police report has been filed. That's the funniest thing I've ever heard... you got an imagination on you not gunna lie. You know your website says you can only pay cash right ? Let me start by saying I have been taking my son to Benny who is the manager of the shop since he was at the North End location and I followed him to the Beacon Hill location because of the great job he does and how comfortable he makes my son. Over the last year I have had Benny change my son's hairstyle to keep up with different trends and I am never disappointed. I also visit them for a shave which is the best and most relaxing experience. I would strongly recommend this shop if your a college student looking for the lasted style or a professional looking for a nice shave and trim for that important meeting. If you have to wait for a seat the atmosphere is awesome flat screen TVs and great old school pictures to occupy your time this place is a must for all types. read more

Great spot if you're looking for a new place to get a haircut. Best I've found for the price ($25 at time of post). As expected from other reviews, waited about 20-30mins walking in to get seated, and got Steve. I was looking to slightly change up my style that I've had for a long time, and Steve went through each step making sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. I don't claim to know anything about cutting hair, but Steve was one of the younger barbers in the shop and it didn't show for a second; I got the impression that everyone there really knows what they're doing when it comes to giving a great haircut. I've lived in Boston for 3 years and it took two years of shitty haircuts and 18 shops later to find the best haircut in Boston. All the barbers at this location are at the top of their game and their cuts reflect their skill. Hands down, best environment in the city. The personality of the staff here make you immediately feel welcome and at home. As opposed to most places that claim to know what's best, if you have a suggestion the team here will bend over backwards to ensure your satisfaction. I've been going to Boston Barber in Beacon Hill for some time now since I work nearby. The place is usually pretty packed but haircuts move relatively quickly. I've always had my hair cut from the guy who seems to run the shop but the other girls that work there seem pretty good too. The clientele is mixed. Anything from Suffolk students to guys in suits that work at the State House and other government buildings around there. The shop is small and intimate. Conversations are always good. Mostly about sports. Overall this is a great spot. I recommend it to anyone considering price, quality and atmosphere. read more

Been to Boston Barber several times for haircut, hot shave and beard trim with Nicky and Benny. They are simply outstanding. Service is polite, friendly and professional. Today - After a full year walking past this barbershop going to classes, I finally had the guts to walk in and let another barber, Dean, cut my hair. All I can say is the environment, haircut and service I got was completely outstanding! Dean is a true professional and made sure I got the haircut I wanted, while I watched the TV show, the first 48 hours, on one of their televisions. This old school flare barbershop is by far the best around. Atmosphere is clean, laid back but professional. There are 3 barbers currently in there I have been to 2 of them, Benny and Becca. (yet to try the new one, but the last time I was there she gave some kid a sick cut!) Both cuts were actually what I asked for and will not go anywhere else. It's fast paced but not rushed. I have been to this barber shop a bunch of times now and it keeps getting better. I have never gotten so many compliments on my cut than I have this past time. I admit I was nervous at first because Benny has always cut my hair, but he was slammed so the barber in the middle was open. I'm glad I gave her a shot. Nikki knows what she is doing! I randomly stumbled upon Boston Barber Co a couple of weeks back. After waiting less than five minutes I got a cut from Ricky. Let's just say he crushed it! I was sick of the same "bro cut" I've been getting since freshman year of college so I told him to give me a "2015 haircut". His barber was Steven, next level and highly experienced giving attention to detail with every cut. He trimmed his beard and evened out his very curly hair and we walked away feeling like it was money well spent! My hubs is already trying to figure out how to get back here on occasion for a great cut. So if you're looking for a friendly, talented and well experienced barber, Steven is your guy!!! Go see him! I…read morecalled ahead for a 5pm and had to wait ~15 mins as a walk in who came in the same time as me was prioritized. My stylist did not seem confident cutting my hair and did a terrible job. I provided some feedback and he barely did anything to fix it. I was worried that if I gave more feedback my hair would become a lost cause. I'm gonna have to go somewhere else to salvage this. There are plenty of hair salons in Cambridge, I wouldn't waste my time and money here.

He did a great job, and I highly recommend a skill, speed, simplicity, and overall look. I like that they get straight down to business. It's nice to feel like a customer, versus being a third wheel - as certain barbershops are like social lounges amongst barbers. Other places can spend too much time under the minute details, which the overall cut isn't even all that great. Think this will now be my preferred barbershop from now on.
