I love that they don't start conversations too, because I hate going to barbers that talk to me during the haircut. Really happy with the haircuts I get from here (I've gotten a cut from most of the barbers there). Inexpensive, they do a really good job, and also use a straight razor to line you up. They can understand my English well enough! Only bad thing (for me) is that they're cash only. read more

FYI they have moved to Cambridge Street! (at least- as of June 2017) (not sure of the address but around 1000 Cambridge Street). I live in Brazil and come home to Cambridge about twice a year. I first found them while on a morning run and ever since then I always make sure to come to Vasquez Barber Shop for a great fade. They are professional, clean and very attentive. I usually go during the weekday and never have to wait too long. A fade was $15. Even if you do not live close by, you should make the effort to have this place be your spot for haircuts. I'm not sure if all of the barbers speak English but plenty of them do to help even if you get someone who speaks Spanish. I can't think of any concerns only positives. Some barbershops can be hit or miss but every barber I've had here always does a great job, takes their time and puts effort into having clean lines. One of the best things a barbershop can have is knowing that no matter who you get, the cut will be good. This is that place! read more

Brought my son here for haircut. These barbers are meticulous, and do beautiful work--I have a whole new appreciation for the fade haircut now! My son has this annoying spot in back but they made it look good. Definitely coming back!! One of the worst cuts I have ever had. The barber went way too far up the sides and cut off the longer parts of my hair that your supposed to use scissors to trim. He also went way too far up on the back and cut all my hair the same length as it should be on the sides on the top of my head. My hair on the top back of my head (Near the swirl) used to be atleast 3 1/2 inches now it's not even an inch. Every part of my hair is extremely uneven, in front, the right side is an inch shorter than my left and not to mention some strands were wayyy longer than the other. I also showed him a picture of what I specifically wanted and he messed it up this badly. read more

I never go back to the same place to get my hair cut because it's either too expensive or they just weren't very good. But I will be coming back to Vasquez! It's full of chill guys who know what they were doing. I showed my barber two pictures - one with a shorter version and another with a longer version of what I wanted - and he did a solid blend of the two. He told me his plan at the beginning and he was more than willing to adjust the final outcome as I was inspecting the final cut. Plus, there were all sorts of men - a 13-year-old getting his fro lined up, a 70-something balding man getting a trim, and 20-something me with curly hair. They had all sorts of happy customers walking out their door. I'm telling you it's at least worth a try! read more

When I moved to the city from Southeastern Mass, I was all torn up about losing my barber. It had taken me SO long to find a good barber originally, that I thought I would not find another one was as good. Well after a half dozen or bad/alright haircuts in Cambridge and Boston, I finally strolled into this barbershop roughly six months ago. Carlos ended up giving me the best fade I have ever gotten. I'm Disappointed at the barber over the weekend. His name is Andy (the one closest to the bathroom ). He happens to be the most unprofessional barber in the entire shop. If he manages to pay attention, you might get a decent haircut. He doesn't consider you as a valued client. He just sees you as another head to cut. He constantly leaves you in the chair to go off and do other things. He doesn't consider your time. He's always starting conversations with the other barbers and doesn't pay attention to your haircut !!! you will spend more time getting your haircut with him because of all the time he wastes doing other things. He never considers that when he's shouting across the room to other barbers that he's screaming right next your ears. He makes unnecessary mistakes to your cut when he's busy talking or singing or dancing.. (yes i said dancing...even when doing your hairline with the blade). He doesn't even look at your head when his cutting your head with the clippers (thats right he's too busy shouting across the room). His barber station is never clean. his drawer is filled with old hair that he never cleans out and he's unorganized. He doesn't spray down the guards after every cut. He doesn't seem to care. He doesn't have a standard way of cutting your hair he will start your sideburns then jump to the back of your head then jump to another area without finishing the areas he started. In all the experience was terrible. He needs training on how to be a professional and focus on his clients. read more

I have never written a review in my life (sorry Yelp), it's usually not worth my time. I do think it's worth my time to rate Vasquez Barber Shop though, and I'd give them a 0 if it were possible. There are some good reviews on here, so maybe some of the barbers are better, but I'm never taking the risk again. I got such a bad haircut that I ended up going somewhere else the next day to get it fixed. I got such a bad haircut that my second barber asked me if my friends had pulled a prank on me. I'm talking 2/8" buzz on my crown with a 4/8" buzz on the sides bad, and no effort to even blend it in between. I didn't notice at the time because my barber didn't hold a mirror behind my head. At home I realized I had basically been thrown into a lawnmower head first. For my own sake I wish I were exaggerating, but I'm not. Language wasn't an issue either, soy argentino y hablo castellano. Hope this review is helpful for someone, or at least gets my barber to try a little harder in the future. I won't be returning. read more
