What a great company to work with on our new home. We had another vendor working with us but his initial estimate came back and made us wonder who he was talking with when he wrote the estimate, because it clearly wasn't what we had discussed with him. Long and short, I was pressed for time as I needed to find a new vendor, do a walk through and obtain a bid for the pre-wiring in about 72 hours so the work could begin before sheet rock went up.
Paul was fantastic. He met me on site the afternoon I called him, we walked through the home and discussed our lifestyle and the things we enjoyed more than the technology and I absolutely appreciated the approach. It helped Paul and his team provide great recommendations for our initial implementation and build a multi year plan.
We winded up completing a whole house pre-wire for just about anything we could ever imagine watching, listening to, securing or automating in our home, complete with flex tubing for future rewiring. Very reasonable pricing and outstanding professionalism. In fact, Paul and Atlas were the only sub contractor on our home that we hired, not the builder, and the only one that actually did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it.
These guys were really amazing in the final implementation as well. Technology can be tricky and as expected there were several quirks that needed to be addressed. The crew got it all done with the laughter and positive attitude.
Now for the great parts.
I had a decade old Yamaha home theater that worked quite well and we wanted this in our phase 1 implementation to go in the kids playroom. Even though I was advised of the potential incompatibility, the Atlas team programmed the entire setup into our Control4 system and I was definitely not expecting this, I even got a button for the one component that was stubborn to help me move through the audio options much more quickly. Fantastic.
Our budget was probably medium to modest for a whole house project and Paul worked very hard to ensure we would have the capabilities our lifestyle suggested in the right price points. They were very honest about components we could obtain elsewhere at better prices and even discovered components that were less expensive than their original quote with better capabilities. Needless to say they brought the entire phase 1 implementation at about 5% better than our budget.
My favorite one though, our doorbell!!!! Some how just in conversation I found out they could program a wav file to play on the home speakers when the doorbell was pushed. Being the die hard Aggie's we are you can imagine what the start of War Hymn sounds like in our kitchen, master bath, patio etc. Fantastic!!!! Best part though, the wav file I gave them sounded a bit tinny. Joe, our primary technician, found a better recording, edited to the first 8 bars, just like our original one, and replaced the file all without us even asking for it! Sounds so much better, thanks Joe!
Listen, technology can be expensive, confusing and limiting. You can make a choice that will lock you in to a certain configuration. I suspect all of us probably worry about money. Atlas is a company you can trust to help you understand what to do and when to do it, will work to understand your long term goals and build a plan for you that can be implemented in phases and will not break the bank at each phase.
