Marco is amazing! He is beyond clever with custom (truly custom) framing. He took artistic liberties with a few our pieces and they came out better than expected AND he even saved us money. Very upfront and honest pricing and works with you to get the best deal for the look you want. We had a large order and this was warmly welcome... also smart because that means we will come back and frame a few more pieces because of the cost savings :) This place is not just a frame shop if you want something special or unique to your vision Marco can do it. It took a little longer to get our pieces back, but it was worth the wait, just be mindful if you have something you want as a quick turnaround. read more

They were able to complete my diploma framing project in under an hour! Really kind and great staff. Convenient parking out front. They texted me when my order was done for easy pick up. Highly recommend. read more

We had a very large painting, two separate pieces but commissioned by the artist as one large continuous piece. Needless to say it was a challenge to get the two pieces to lie evenly. Well, Athena worked magic, added a gorgeous frame, secured the hardware needed to hang the painting, and it looks AMAZING!! It was expensive but worth the money to showcase our stunning piece of artwork. I appreciate their recommendations and they kept in contact with us to let us know the progress. Highly recommend!! read more

For Christmas we received a commissioned oil painting of my ferrets - it came to us as a piece of unstretched canvas. I turned to yelp for recommendations and found Athena Custom Framing. From the minute I reached out for pricing, to pick up of my art, the experience was superb! Marcos helped identify initial quotes (I originally wanted a simple gallery stretch). Then, I brought the piece in, met with Josh who was extremely helpful and personable; I changed to a frame instead and am so glad I did. Josh showed me a few frames against the piece and helped me choose the one you see in the picture below (picture does NOT do it justice - it's literally fresh out of the shop as of this post lol, picture of the unstretched piece included). I truly love it and it fully complements the piece. Thank you, Josh, for making this piece really come together! I also want to note that Marcos is incredibly responsive to texts. Any time I text him, he responded quickly. What really stood out to me though -- When I was in the store initially, I had questions about the art on the shop walls because I loved them so much - random/new client texting him pictures about the art lol. I didn't have much expectation of a response, since it wasn't really related to my order, but he responded instantly, seemingly without hesitation, and even sent me a link to the artist :) Both guys are stellar at their craft and seem like genuinely awesome humans - I 10/10 recommend this to you for your custom framing needs. I am glad I found them! read more

I'm going to say at the outset that if you are in a hurry this is not the place for you but if you want your framing done beautifully by people that really care don't go anywhere else. I had a memorial done for a pet and the end result literally brought me to tears. It was gorgeous. I felt like pricing was reasonable for what I got. Bottom line is that I will never go anywhere else for my framing. These two guys are the best. read more

This is a follow on review. I used them around Christmas and was tremendously impressed. So hoping the first time wasn't atypical I took several pieces in to be framed a couple of weeks ago. All I can say is that I'd give 10 stars if I could. Their attention to detail and eye for color are beyond amazing. I walked with special pieces picked up on my travels around the world. I walked with six truly breath taking pieces of art. I couldn't be happier. And please note - these pictures do not do justice to their work read more

We love Athena Framing and Marcos! He has been our go to for anything we have needed framed for the past two years! I will never go to a big box store again! He is super talented, does great work, and provides excellent customer service. read more

Went to get some pictures framed for my Fiancé's office and left pleasantly surprised. The owner is super cool and down to earth. He helped me pick out this amazing gold frame that I wouldn't have picked myself. The pictures were done way quicker than expected. I'll definitely be back! read more

Very pleasant and helpful. Quality of work was really nice. We will definitely return.

Marcus, is very talented and frames all kinds of art, very detailed orientated, got a idea, he can run with cool ideas

This place is such a gem. Marco puts quality over everything and the customer service is excellent. It's hard these days to find those small businesses where you know the owner puts your interests first but Marco definitely does. I've had a few photographs and autographed items custom framed here recently. They all hold up over time and look extremely professional. Don't bother looking anywhere else - this is the place to go for quality and service. read more

I have framed around 20 pieces in Marcos' shop. My experience surpassed my expectations. The service was always excellent, and their attention to details and fabulous taste to select the frames and suggest combinations were exceptional. I am a picky customer when it comes to art. I know what i want but I'm also open to creative and good ideas. They were great at both: respecting my vision of the frames and colors but giving me out of the box suggestions that worked very well. I was pleasantly surprised by their work and patient to provide the best quality to the client. My art pieces have now frames that make them standout. And on top of that, prices are extremely decent! If you go there you will not be disappointed. read more

I recently had two diplomas framed here and was extremely pleased with the final result. The service was great and the staff were very friendly. I came in not really knowing what I wanted and they instantly gave me a number of options to choose from. I ordered one diploma with a nicer frame and a green border, and the other with a simple black frame and no border. I then received a call from the store letting me know that they could add a green border to the the other diploma free of charge. Everything was very professional while being at a good price. read more

They really do a great job & have a huge selection of frames. I've had several pieces framed here, in fact. I think their prices are really fair. I will continue to use them. Thanks Marcos!! :-) read more

Solid business. The Owner is friendly and easy to work with. Be specific with what you want and how - pricey but I would go back

They did a fantastic job framing 3 delicate WWII silk maps. The maps look amazing and the technique used for framing them allows you to see every detail of the maps all the way to the frayed edges. About 1/3 the cost of the chain store around the corner. Absolutely will use them again for any framing projects. read more

We brought in five pieces of art -- each a very different style. Marcos was friendly, patient, and helpful as we went through the process of selecting just the right mat and frame for each piece. The end result was superb and we couldn't be happier with the results. After disappointing framing experiences at other places, we've found our place! We'll definitely be back! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I have had many items framed here and will never go somewhere else again. I have had friends try it out as well and they are now repeat customers as well. Not only are the prices and quality better, but everyone is friendly and very helpful. Just let Marco give you his suggestions, and then run with them. read more

We bought a numbered/signed print by one of our favorite artists and wanted to have it nicely framed. Reviews on Yelp and Google were overwhelmingly positive for Athena Framing so we decided to give them a try. From the instant we walked in Marcos was friendly and so helpful. What we really appreciated was Marcos' willingness to give his opinion and suggestions on styles and colors of mats and frames. But he was never pushy throughout the process. His shop completed the job more quickly than we were anticipating and we couldn't be more pleased and impressed with the results. We will definitely be going back to Athena for any future framing needs. read more

If this isn't your go-to framing place, then it should be. I brought in a large commissioned painting (3 ft X 4 ft) on canvas to be stretched and gallery wrapped. The painting had been shipped from the artist in Atlanta, and I was nervous about taking it in to say the least. I did a ton of research and after a bunch of phone calls to different framing stores, I decided that Marcos at Athena was the man to do the job. He gave me the pricing over the phone and took a no-haggling approach. It was a fair price and he assured me that the stretch would be guaranteed for life. Even though the shop was swamped, Marcos got the piece done well before the anticipated date. He sent me a photo of the painting as soon as he opened it (unstretched) and then another one once it was finished. After hanging the painting in my home, I noticed a very small imperfection in the painting (completely unrelated to the stretching process). I called Marcos to get his opinion on how to handle it, and he even offered to have a local artist come to look at it free of charge. It turns out that the original artist was able to help me fix it, so this was not needed. Marcos even called to follow up to make sure I was completely happy with the final product, which I very much am! If you're looking for an incredibly diligent, detail obsessed, and honest framer to support, then check out Athena! read more

I am overdue on this review. These guys really hooked me up. I came in with a beautiful pastel and no knowledge of what I wanted. Marcos helped me unpackage the art and walked me through frame options, mat pairs and glass options. Meanwhile his dad (also Marcos) paced back an forth eyeing it all. I kept wondering if he would just come and tell me what to do because I was so indecisive. that is exactly what happened. He schmoozed me through his version of what I should get, which is absolutely perfect. Taller, younger Marcos made sure I was okay with everything. cut me a phat discount and I paid in full and told them to take their time. I felt so much better than when I go to the salon and tell the hairdresser just to do something that looks awesome. These funny, talented guys know what they are doing. I got a call the next day from Marcos saying it was in, but that his dad picked a different frame...but that he'd think I would like it because it has some green in it...but that I could change it. I came in the next morning and told senior Marcos my name and described the art. He stared at me and walked toward the front of the store without saying anything. There it was, on display! Looking even better. You guys rock. read more

I can't say enough good things about this family-owned business! I have had 3 paintings framed here. Each time, the customer service was exceptional from helping me carefully choose a frame to the quick turn around time. I recently returned with 2 paintings from Haiti and asked for the same frame I originally had gotten on a painting 2 years before. Although that frame had been discontinued, the owner, helped me find a similar frame and gave me a good price for the 2. When I came to pick them up, I realized that one of the frames was all wrong for the painting (my fault for trying to match frames instead of picking frames that fit the painting). Without hesitation, Marco asked me to come back and carefully helped me choose a new frame that better fit the painting. This is the type of customer service that I don't mind driving 30 minutes from DC to VA for. I wouldn't go to any other place to get custom framing done! read more

I have had two pieces framed at Athena's and have been very please with each job! I am in no way good at matching colors or picking out stylish or artistic things... They put me at ease by taking the lead with ideas and suggestions to go with the pictures I brought in. The guy who does the layouts and designs definitely knows his stuff and I would trust him for any of my future framing.. even considering using something like this as gifts! Everyone who has been to my house compliments the frames! read more

I can't say thank you enough to Marco and his dad, Marco. I had two 100+ yo velvet paintings that were my great grandfathers. They were in need of restoration and Marco was able to do the restoration, frame them, and create great shadowboxes for each. They are now well taken care of and will be preserved. I thought I would never be able to enjoy them again, but now they are hanging on my wall and are beautiful for all to enjoy! Thanks to Athena! read more

This was my first time having anything framed so, needless to say, I would've been an easy target for anyone trying to rip me off! However, the staff at Athena was awesome and incredibly helpful. They took the time to help me pick out beautiful frames that bring out the the detail of the several papyrus rolls I brought from Egypt months ago. Everything was done within a few days! Staff was attentive, kind and genuinely wanted everything to come out perfect. They definitely made my first framing experience a lot less painful than I expected. read more

This place is amazing! I went into the store and was helped right away. Placed my order then waited a couple days for them to work on the custom frame. Came in to the store to pick up my frame with the requested picture and frame, and it was almost double the size that I ordered! They didnt even charge me more! It was the price they told me since the beginning! Was very surprised and happy with the service. Thanks to Marcos and Jay with the amazing work. Highly recommend! read more

I always see a sign that says 55% off custom framing for years. Finally went in with a diploma. The store smelled like cigarettes and got a quote from them. It was expensive. I have been coming to Athena Custom Framing for years now! Every single time, they've come through with wonderful framing. Marcos, and before that his father Marcos (also), have given fantastic customer service. Yesterday, for instance, I had only just received the Mother's day present. This place is definitely a gem! I went here just to get two simple mattes cut. In going to other local framing shops this would be a very expensive 2-3 weeks process. But not here. Marcos was SO incredibly kind and helpful making the process super easy and I was in and out with what I needed in half an hour. I couldn't believe it. He made suggestions but also listened to what I wanted and made sure when we were done I was getting what I wanted. And the price was incredibly fair. He was very patient in helping me figure out what I needed and even though my job was very simple and I am sure not much profit to them he treated me so well and kept telling me how much he appreciated the business. This is a great family run business and I am definitely going to recommend this to others. I will definitely be back. read more

Marco provided excellent customer service and affordable pricing. I had two pieces framed at Athena's Custom Framing. Both pieces turned out beautiful!!! One was a photo my grandfather had taken years ago and I merely dropped it off and he did the rest. This group has been the most helpful, most friendly place I have ever gone to for framing. They are very patient with you about choosing exactly what you want, but also give professional advice, without ever forcing anything upon you. They price match, but when we were getting quotes around, they beat them by a long shot without even knowing the competition's pricing. Very quick about getting the framing done and they do a phenomenal job. I could not have asked for a better group. Will definitely go again. Actually did again today to frame a third piece in a month. Highly recommend them. read more
