For Christmas we received a commissioned oil painting of my ferrets - it came to us as a piece of unstretched canvas. I turned to yelp for recommendations and found Athena Custom Framing. From the minute I reached out for pricing, to pick up of my art, the experience was superb! Marcos helped identify initial quotes (I originally wanted a simple gallery stretch). Then, I brought the piece in, met with Josh who was extremely helpful and personable; I changed to a frame instead and am so glad I did. Josh showed me a few frames against the piece and helped me choose the one you see in the picture below (picture does NOT do it justice - it's literally fresh out of the shop as of this post lol, picture of the unstretched piece included). I'm going to say at the outset that if you are in a hurry this is not the place for you but if you want your framing done beautifully by people that really care don't go anywhere else. I had a memorial done for a pet and the end result literally brought me to tears. It was gorgeous. I felt like pricing was reasonable for what I got. I recently had two diplomas framed here and was extremely pleased with the final result. The service was great and the staff were very friendly. I came in not really knowing what I wanted and they instantly gave me a number of options to choose from. I ordered one diploma with a nicer frame and a green border, and the other with a simple black frame and no border. I then received a call from the store letting me know that they could add a green border to the the other diploma free of charge. They did a fantastic job framing 3 delicate WWII silk maps. The maps look amazing and the technique used for framing them allows you to see every detail of the maps all the way to the frayed edges. If this isn't your go-to framing place, then it should be. I brought in a large commissioned painting (3 ft X 4 ft) on canvas to be stretched and gallery wrapped. The painting had been shipped from the artist in Atlanta, and I was nervous about taking it in to say the least. I did a ton of research and after a bunch of phone calls to different framing stores, I decided that Marcos at Athena was the man to do the job. He gave me the pricing over the phone and took a no-haggling approach. It was a fair price and he assured me that the stretch would be guaranteed for life. Even though the shop was swamped, Marcos got the piece done well before the anticipated date. He sent me a photo of the painting as soon as he opened it (unstretched) and then another one once it was finished. After hanging the painting in my home, I noticed a very small imperfection in the painting (completely unrelated to the stretching process). I called Marcos to get his opinion on how to handle it, and he even offered to have a local artist come to look at it free of charge. It turns out that the original artist was able to help me fix it, so this was not needed. Marcos even called to follow up to make sure I was completely happy with the final product, which I very much am! I am overdue on this review. These guys really hooked me up. I came in with a beautiful pastel and no knowledge of what I wanted. Marcos helped me unpackage the art and walked me through frame options, mat pairs and glass options. Meanwhile his dad (also Marcos) paced back an forth eyeing it all. I kept wondering if he would just come and tell me what to do because I was so indecisive. that is exactly what happened. He schmoozed me through his version of what I should get, which is absolutely perfect. Taller, younger Marcos made sure I was okay with everything. cut me a phat discount and I paid in full and told them to take their time. I felt so much better than when I go to the salon and tell the hairdresser just to do something that looks awesome. These funny, talented guys know what they are doing. I got a call the next day from Marcos saying it was in, but that his dad picked a different frame...but that he'd think I would like it because it has some green in it...but that I could change it. I can't say enough good things about this family-owned business! I have had 3 paintings framed here. Each time, the customer service was exceptional from helping me carefully choose a frame to the quick turn around time. I recently returned with 2 paintings from Haiti and asked for the same frame I originally had gotten on a painting 2 years before. Although that frame had been discontinued, the owner, helped me find a similar frame and gave me a good price for the 2. When I came to pick them up, I realized that one of the frames was all wrong for the painting (my fault for trying to match frames instead of picking frames that fit the painting). Without hesitation, Marco asked me to come back and carefully helped me choose a new frame that better fit the painting. This place is definitely a gem! I went here just to get two simple mattes cut. In going to other local framing shops this would be a very expensive 2-3 weeks process. But not here.
