Agent was nice unfortunately due to ATT policy they were unable to hep me. I am, like many, inundated with requests phishing attempts. It is absurd that in 2025 the in store agent is unable to help and directs me to use the customer support line. The entire reason i drove to the store was to deal with a live agent. There was no line and two employees doing nothing and they turned me away. How is this real. I feel somewhat bad because the agent was nice, but this is a case where the company policy is so absurd it doesn't really matter does it. read more

My name is David W. McFarlane. I am an African-American man, born and raised here in Oakland, California. On Fri. Aug. 08, 2025, I went to visit the AT&T Store in Downtown Oakland at 11:32AM. My goal was to finalize my iPhone trade-in/ upgrade, as I've just recently become a new AT&T Member. Unfortunately, as I entered the store (388 9th Street Suite 116), I was initially met with hostile stares by the AT&T Personnel (and other 'already assisted' customers included), whom were all Asian. None of the AT&T Personnel acknowledged me nor greeted me during my 7 to 10 minute wait for assistance, yet, the Personnel kept glancing at me several times during my wait. I also no for a fact the the personnel had no issue with speaking English simply because I overheard them bouncing back and forth that to an other Asian language. With that being said, I know for a fact that a language barrier would not have been an occurrence... Keep in mind, I am 6'3" tall and 235 lbs, so I am pretty much hard to miss ‍ I must say, out of my 35 years of living, I have never experienced this level of intense racism, until today... At this location, I did not feel welcomed or valued at all. Lastly, I do plan on contacting AT&T Corporate soon, as I am honestly mentally shaken up by this tough experience and rude awakening. I stopped by here with my partner since they were in the process of trading in their old phone for a new phone and had just been notified by text that the new phone was available for pickup. There were some hiccups in locating the right package but the worker who helped us, Howard, was eventually able to find it after we figured out that the order was delivered under the family plan holder's name and not my partner's name, and Howard also helped with some of the setup and testing of the phone. Overall, quick and friendly service, and the store is small but clean with some chairs available. We also got to witness the patience of Howard and one other colleague with dealing with some more difficult customers, so major props to the workers here, most if not all of whom are bilingual (I believe several spoke at least Cantonese in addition to English). read more

If you speak limited English or have parents who do not speak English well, be careful of this ATT store. They will open up a new line and say there's a promo for something free when it is not. They might also say there's a promo to trade in the phone to get the new phone for free. Again, be careful because they will say they traded in your phone when they simply steal your phone. Then, you end up having to make monthly payments because the trade in did not go through because they stole your phone. Make sure to ask for a receipt and keep it. The manager, (Vivian) is the biggest scammer here. Be careful. She will lie and lie and lie to get her commissions. That's how they make most of their money. They will pretend to be nice to those who only speak Chinese and lie and lie and lie to get money out of them. The main thing is you get a recording of them saying the promo as proof in case you want to use it against them in the future. Always be vigilant when dealing with salespeople! Remember, they are not your friends. They are there to make money out of you :) I also want to mentioned I filed a FTC & BB complaint to talk to AT&T corporate about my problem. Had my phone and wallet stolen at one of my shops via armed robbery the day before. I went to the San Leandro location because I was around that area, however they were unable to help. I recall there was an AT&T store in Oakland Chinatown so I drove there instead. I was immediately greeted by Edison upon walking in and he and Vivian were able to get on my case immediately. She used my name to apply life insurance program in this Chinatown AT&T store without notifying me. She told me the AT&T store manager did this. My immigrant parents thought it would be a good idea to get smartphones. Because they know a limited amount of English, they decided to get their phones at this place where they speak Cantonese/Mandarin. A few weeks later, they received a bill with a crazy amount of money. My father scratched his balding head, unsure of why it was so expensive. When I took a look at the bill, my eyes nearly popped out--he was signed up for 30 GB of data!!!! He doesn't even know how to use the internet! The next day I took the bill and my parents to the AT&T store. When I asked for help, the youngish guy says he's new. When I finally spoke to the lady in charge, she told me that she couldn't help me. Not sure what to do, I called At&T several times to downgrade the amount data. I actually had to pretend to be my dad or else I wouldn't have been able to make changes to his account. From this experience, I learned that some people are willing to take advantage of clueless immigrant parents who can't tell the difference between data and texting. They are quick to help you if they get commission. However, if it doesn't benefit them, then they are hesitant to assist you. read more

It's a pleasure to get the new phones today. Our Rep, Eva, was extremely patient and considerate. While the process os complicated and really takes time, Eva assisted me to set up the new device, troubleshooting, information transfer, trade-ins and place screen protector step by step. She was professional and got things set up with my new phone and new service seamlessly. FYI, it's worth to purchase the screen protector cause it's under 1 year warranty. DO NOY BUY any case. This at&t store is horrible, I tried to change my cell phone plan at this store and the staff named Eva said if I change my phone plan then I need to pay $10 and need to use credit card to pay for it. After a few day, I checked my credit card as usual and found it was charged $10 on that day but the title is " Directv now". I called customer care and tried to explain I did not purchase any TV service and only changed my phone plan at the store. You know what, The Rep on the phone said I can change my plan at anytime without any fee. And they can't refund this $10. Now I get it Eva used my credit card information to purchase it, that store is horrible and I already reported this transaction to my credit card. Do not go to this store guys, if you have to, try not to pay anything by using your card. Your card information will be stolen sooner or later. read more

If I could give this store 0 star I would. Poor poor poor customer service, its like smiling does not exist here. I needed a sim card and since I work super close by, I decided to come here out of convenience. Biggest mistake. Every staff I encountered was not friendly, it seems like they're tired and want to go home. So I ask for a sim card and the staff who was helping me told me its going to cost $5. This is new to me. For many years of being a valued customer of AT&T this was the first time I had to pay $5 for a sim card. I told him its not like I lost or damage it, I literally just added a new line and need a sim card for that phone... I ask for it to be waive, they were unable to accommodate that request. Oh and guess what they ran out of iphone 5-7 sim card, like really? I feel like retail store should be running out of sim card.... I left super unhappy.
