Another reviewer (W.L.) already mentioned this shady practice by AT&T, but here is my experience. My wife and I did a trade‑in deal for the iPhone 17. The agent, Stephanie, never mentioned anything about adding the "Next Up" plan or the "Protect Advantage" insurance, which cost $10 and $19 per month, respectively. With two phones, that's $58 added to the bill. When I saw the upcoming bill amount, I went back to the store and asked another male agent. He told me the charges would change once our old phones were dropped off. They didn't. Three weeks later, I returned to drop off my wife's old phone and asked the same question to another male agent. He gave me the same answer: "it would take 2-3 billing cycles for the amount to change". Later, I discovered that they had added the "Protect Advantage" insurance, which I canceled, so I didn't end up paying the full $19 × 2. But the bill still seemed higher than expected. When I examined the details, I found the "Next Up" plan already charging me $10 × 2, which I canceled immediately. I felt scammed. Many people might keep paying without realizing these plans were added. This is a very shady practice by AT&T. At the very least, the agents should have disclosed these add‑ons. Even when I asked directly, none of them mentioned that these plans had been added. read more

I'm really disappointed with the customer service I received. I was helped by a lady on the floor who was condescending and had extreme attitude. I don't normally leave reviews like this, but the experience was bad enough that I felt I needed to share it. My previous experience at this was with Cody, and it was a very positive experience. This is the closest AT&T store to our house so I've been stopping in here when I need AT&T services and when I remember they are there. There were two men working and three people in the store so I waited about 5 minutes for service. I asked my question, received an answer and left the store. Here's the deal: Our 34 year old son and daughter in law are on our account and are also designated as authorized users. I was told by doing that they can do whatever is needed on the account just as we do. Since I had the time, I went into AT&T and asked them to put them on their own account. AT&T guy says, "You can't do that. They need to be here to do that. You can take them off the account but then they will lose their phone numbers." Of course I don't want that to happen and why can't I do that? An hour later my son goes into another AT&T store and tries to take he and my DIL off the account and onto their own account. That AT&T guy says, "Your mom has to do that." Ridiculous. Get your act together AT&T. An hour after that my son goes into this AT&T store and is told by AT&T person #1, "You can't do it, your mom needs to do it." AT&T person #2 hears him and says, "Oh your mom came in this morning, right?" He tells AT&T guy #1 to go ahead and do it. read more

Would give zero stars. The price listed by the phone wasn't the price at charge, it was $100 more. They activate before telling you the higher price so you have to cancel through your bank. They're crooks. False advertising is illegal. read more

Wife went to get a free phone upgrade after 3 years. "Helped" by Paloma who claimed that in order to upgrade, the Next Up plan had to be added the the plan for at least 2 weeks (false: https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/comments/192lyvi/deleted_by_user/). To add insult to injury, once the Next Up plan is added, it cannot be cancelled for 14 days (confirmed by an AT&T phone representative) and you will be billed $10 which cannot be refunded. The AT&T phone representative however stated that Paloma should NOT have signed my wife up for the Next Up plan in the first place as it was not necessary for an upgrade. Also, without disclosing anything to my wife, Paloma added the "Protect Advantage" Plan for $19/mo, which I only discovered after the transaction when I logged into the AT&T account afterwards. Paloma is incredibly untrustworthy and dishonest. With employees like this, I recommend avoiding this unethical AT&T "authorized retailer" (stick to a real AT&T-owned store) if you don't want unexpected add-ons and charges with even the simplest of transactions. read more

If I could give a zero I would. If you plan on buying a phone from here and doing a trade in I don't recommend at all. You will be paying more in the long run. I traded my phones in and got new phones and I'm paying 250 a month and had some add ons I never agreed on. Don't come here it's a scam! Tried to cancel a landline on my Father who has passed and Mothers account who is in a resthome with dementia. Told it could not be canceled without the customer Id and pin number.Shes 92 in a rest home and we are selling the house! Crooks! Attempted to return two unopened Apple devices within 14 days of purchase, store representative told me I couldn't without paying a $55 restocking fee for each device. When I challenged the claim of a restocking fee on ALL devices, he told me he couldn't help me and there was nothing I could do about it. I asked to speak to a manager. Told me I'd have to come back several days later. I told him to just process the return and charge me the restocking fee, which I would then settle with the manager. Employee - Issac - called me an "asshole" and said I am not some "saint" that gets special treatment - really terrible customer service. He refused to process a return, even where I told him to just charge me the restocking fees. Left with both devices. Surprisingly, he did give me a number for his store manager, which I called within 15min; the call routed me back to the store. The other employee there at the time - Edwin - answered and told me they called the manager and he would waive the restocking fee - note: unopened Apple products do NOT incur a restocking fee with AT&T. Returning to the store today, manager - Cody - started immediately by telling me there is a mandatory $55 restocking fee that he wasn't going to waive, because it applies to ALL products. It does NOT. AT&T website clearly states that a restocking fee does NOT apply to unopened Apple products. When I told him such fees don't apply and that I already went through this with Issac, he said the damndest thing to me, "I can't tell my reps that the customer is right." Maybe you should...especially when the customer is right. No apologies. No attempt to make things right. However, Cody did process the return and recognized there shouldn't be any restocking fees - again, no waiver of fees, no favors asked, just requested they honor the terms online. Not sure Cody really processed the interaction I had with one of his reps, despite my telling him. It seemed his rep probably told him some alternative reality. But still...I'm not asking to be some exception. The exception is in print on THEIR website. This location also added a $50/month insurance/protection plan to one of the 4 devices initially purchased, despite being told we did not want any insurance. Buyer beware. read more

It took us more than 2 mos to unravel the web they created behind our backs. PLUS!!! They deducted final payment without permission when I was scheduled to go in today to zero final bill. There were questions, AND I had spoken to finance. Btw, I am still going in to get a receipt for the final bill. DON'T GO!! It has been a dam nightmare. I will go to Cricket b4 going back to them. Yet! On the fone, I met great ppl that try and help. But whatever they do gets stuffed under the rug. I was with them for 10-15yrs. AND had the tv/cable/ cell fone service. Canceled tv bcuz after over 3 months of NOT having basic stations w / no adjustment or compensation on the bill, I left the tv service. Then I had problems with c.fone connection. It wouldn't hook 1-800 #'s. Had to call a friend to make a 3-way call. That situation went on for months. I was given a ticket #...no follow up or fix. AND I found out so much in the process on their practices when u try and UNlock ur fone. It is okay if u dont mind a business doing what THEY want, ie; billing, debiting w/ no authorization. NEVER! EVER! EVER! AGAIN!!! Oh! We recently purchased a new phone replacing and older unit. After receiving monthly billing I noticed the the bill was $20.00 more than quoted turns out they added insurance to the specific phone without approval. UDAP unfair deceptive and abusive practices is what this location specializes in. Consumer beware. They will "pressure" you into current promotions and add insurances without your knowledge. Some sales reps are good but the most recent one I had was NOT. I was grandfathered into a plan I loved and when I asked if I did go with the plan they recommended I wanted to make sure I would keep my HBO Max subscription for free and they said yes... that was a lie. They also said by adding that additional line (promo) it would actually be lowering my bill (more for less) that was also a lie it's up $74 when I called corporate. I'm beside myself because I know better but felt pressured to comply after they wouldn't take my no for answer. I only ask for those reviewing this to ask questions and read your contract before you sign and for the manager of this store and employees to do what's right for the consumer not their commissions. read more

Cody had great phone skills and good customer service. Most impressively he was honest and upfront about how att handles the "buy one get one free", explaining that you get charged and then a Bill credit cancels that charge out. If it weren't for another store having the watch in stock that I needed when he would have had to order it, I would have gone to him and am taking the time to leave this review. Go see Cody. I had to go into the store because my watch and phone refused to sync. They had the store open at 10 AM for seniors. Monique was the best! It took a bit, but she was able to get cellular portion of my phone working. The store took appropriate precautions for social distancing and there was one employee for each customer. This Clovis location is the best AT&T location I have ever been to (4 different ones over the years.) Before I even showed up to shop and buy new equipment, Cody the assistant manager, helped me get the answer to a cable and router question at home. I thanked him, walked out but when it came time to buy some new hardware I went back to his store to buy. Quid pro quo. Our stuff was old: iPhone 4, iPhone 5 and an old iPad. He didn't know that we were ready to spend a lot of money buying the phones, etc but gave me a lot of his time educating my wife and I as to newer equipment, the features, extras like cases if we wanted, etc. He even found a way to lower our ATT bill. We left the store to think about it and came back a week later and Cody greeted us by name, checked on some deals and he was so thorough we bought 2 new phones and an iPad. He transferred all of our data from the old equipment to the new phones & Ipad and everything got set up beautifully. This guy is really good and there is no question that he knows his stuff. I recommend him and this store. Note: in his absence there is a young lady who works there named Monique who I overheard service other customers and she is well trained also. I went to at&t with an unlocked iPhone X purchased from sprint wishing to activate my iPhone. Upon arrival I was automatically told by AJ and his manager I couldn't activate my iPhone X because Sprint did not allow any other network to be used on their phones. I was confused because sprint and at&t reps told me I was able to activate it. The manager started offering me the new iPhone 11 and Mac book and for me to "start fresh" with a new phone number as I wanted to transfer my phone number of 7 years. I told them I only wanted a phone line so I leased the iPhone 11. The next day I went to the Blackstone near Shaw location and the customer service representative took out the SIM card from my iPhone 11 and put it in my iPhone X and it worked!! I'm very disappointed with how they manage sells there. I wouldn't recommend going to this location since they are not honest with their customers. read more

I went in to just buy a new glass cover, I was welcomed right away. The establishment was clean and well organized. The person who helped me was very friendly and very helpful I wish I could remember her name to give her kudos, but if I'm honest I can say everyone in this particular AT&T store seemed to be trained equally well! Would not honor products (chargers) purchased there and obviously defective as they needed to be replaced originally after one month and again at seven months. Was told they no longer carry product due to number of issues with quality and still would not honor the warranty of one year. I asked for money back, denied. I asked to exchange for same product-denied. I asked to exchange for similar product-denied. They gave many excuses, bottom line-they lost a customer. Was their to have my new phone 7plus activated. Took my old phone as I was going to have my moms phone number activated. Wasn't until after d manager cleared my old phone n gave me my new phone that I learned that my texts did not get transferred. Wish he would have told me this before clearing the phone of its contents as I would have done what was needed to have the text messages saved. Very aggravating.
