I recently visited AT&T, hoping to upgrade two phones and switch to a better carrier. Unfortunately, out experience at the store was nothing short of horrible. From the moment we walked in, the sales representative Joey was seemed disinterested in helping us. We were given 3 different qoutes and throughtout the whole conversation he mentioned any phone was valid for a trade in. I repeated, you mean any galaxy phone because if that was the case to accept any phone, I could trade in my current phone which is not a galaxy. The process was taking forever, and I obtained an email with the estinated qoute and we will be back. My spouse then returned to finalize the sale and we have 30 days to provide Samsung trade in. When we arrived on Sunday, there were 3 gentlemen there. One device was accepted and the other was not as it was not an S, Z or Note. This created an issues because we only joined as we were informed by Joey it was any Samsung phone. I said is Joey here? The gentlemen said no, not knowing that I saw him sitting down texting on his phone hiding behind a promo sign. I replied, well thats Joey right there. The gentlemen stuttered, and Joey was rude and said well you didnt finish the sale with me. Excuse me? What kind of reponse is this? He heard hisname loud and clear as we were the only 2 people in the store. Instead of apologizing and help making it right, he continued texting on companys time instead of taking care of customers! I asked for the store manager, he was not in so I obtained his information to contact him. (Great customer service, would of been I will have my manager contact you tomorrow morning to find a solution). The following day, I reached out to the store and I've been unsuccessful in trying to reach the store Manager John Taveras. John pick up but it was not the manager John. The manager was not in and advised me he wa going to get William, the Assistant Store Manager on the phone to assist me. I was on hold for the first time for 27 minutes, second time for 24 minutes, third & fourth call were pick up and hang up calls. Fifth time, I spoke to Roger who informed me William has left for the day knowing I was on hold?? Are you kidding me? who 1) refuses to pick up my calls 2) doesn't call an unhappy client back, When I finally got to speak with a manager, they were rude and dismissive of my concerns, making me feel like I was wasting their time. Even when I finally found a phone and plan that I liked, the sales representative made several errors in processing my order, causing delays and confusion. They seemed to have no idea what they were doing and made me feel like I was a burden to them. Overall, my experience at Clifton was a complete disaster. The staff were unhelpful, the service was slow, and the whole process was frustrating and unpleasant. I would strongly advise anyone looking for a new phone or plan to steer clear of this store and look for better options elsewhere. Despite our repeated attempts to ask questions and seek advice, they gave me short, unhelpful answers and seemed more interested in texting on their own phone than actually helping me. read more

A couple of weeks ago, I came in to look at new phones on a Sunday morning. I did check in at their central desk. A guy finally came over and just stood there. He acted like he was doing me a favor. Every time I would ask a question, the guy would give me an annoyed look. The few words he did speak were in a very "wasted voice". I became angry and walked out. I went in this afternoon on my lunch break because my iPhone 13PM wasn't turning on even with hard resets. In December, I shattered the back of it pretty bad with a case on it. I stated I had the insurance on my phone, so I sat down with one of the guys and ordered a new one. Immediately after ordering the new one, another guy did a hard reset WHILE the phone was plugged in and got it turned on! He told me due to the humidity and going from hot to cold, water can actually get inside without exposure and will likely fry my phone. At least I have my phone until the new one comes! The staff is so pushy it makes me want to scream. My partner is on the same plan as his mother who is the account holder. He was getting a new phone through the account and the person helping us was insisting on changing the plan because we would "save money". This happened to me once before -I left AT&T as well- the "change" to save money turned off the unlimited data and unlimited test we were grandfathered into. Eventually I had to pay MORE. Don't get roped it. Anyway, we told him several times we didn't feel comfortable changing anything as the account was under his mother's name... he gave us THREE speeches about the change. We were there for over an hour and a half trying to just get a new phone - all because the sales person wouldn't listen. We must have said "no thanks" five or six times. No means no. I understand you're trying to push a sale but holy crap, it was awful service. I will never come back to AT&T. They were so pushy and not time sensitive. Finally I told him "We DONT WANT THAT! Please just give us our phone and we will install it ourselves." We we're out the door in 10 mins after that (all he had to do was complete the purchase, basically he was holding the phone hostage trying to upsell.) if we had time we would have left this AT&T store and gone to another one because of how obnoxious this guy was. read more

He went to this store and the people wanted him to wait for a phone to be delivered to him tomorrow. That was unacceptable since he has a business and needed the phone asap. They didn't stock anything that he could purchase. He asked if they could call another store to see if they had inventory, they said "there's the phone, we'll give you the number." Worst experience at this location. Over the summer I opted out from my current provider and ported over 4 phone lines and 1 watch line. The rep at the store was more interested in signing me up for ATT TV which I didn't want but he insisted I signup and cancel after the free trial. First problem was he ported out the incorrect phone number for one of the lines. After several trips back to the store the only solution was to add the correct number resulting in astronomically high first two bills until the unneeded incorrect line was dropped. After that, one of the lines was a BYOD line and according to the promotion and sales pitch I was going to get a $250 pre-paid Visa Card - NEVER HAPPENED. But wait there's more: I was eligible for the AT&T Signature Program thru my employer. All the information was given to the rep at the store and several months passes w/o ever getting the discounts. Finally went to a different store and now getting the proper credits, but lost several months worth of bill credits. read more

Salespeople frequently either are incredibly misinformed, or flat out lie about company policies. My guess is the latter. They claim that you cannotbuy a phone flat out, that it is against AT&T company policy. This is flat untrue. My guess is they get a better commission on leased phones. What a terrible experience we just had at this store! First off, the process to upgrade two phones took longer than buying a house. Their internet service was down or slow the entire time. They are a telecommunications company! Crazy! and NO APOLOGY! The salesmen was wonderful at selling us and making his quota, terrible at customer service or caring about the customer. My wife was looking for a new phone and he neglected to tell her that the new phone 8 did not have the upgraded camera - as a matter of fact, he neglected to tell her ANYTHING about the phone's features. Then after she found out that the new 8 doesn't have the camera, she asked him to switch it to the 8plus and he mentioned that there would be a $45 restocking fee (I'm sure that is AT&T mandated) and we'd have to pay the tax again on a new phone!?!?!!? He also took no responsibility for not disclosing the information and said and I quote, "I don't work for Apple, I work for AT&T!" and gave not so much of an apology for the inconvenience... saying, "You're not going to blame this on me." I've never quite seen someone care less about the customer's satisfaction after a transaction in person. Like the worst used car salesmen, who knows he just got one over on you. I would highly recommend NOT going to this story and NOT using Chris Mendez as your salesman. Turned out to be a careless *@shole who only gives a crap about his sell and NOT your satisfaction. We went here after having some iphone issues to possibly get a new phone. The options provided seems a bit expensive so I decided to not take the rep Edwin up on purchasing a new phone. He was visibly upset at what I guess was losing a commision but what followed truly shocked me. Moments after we left the data on my wifes phone was shut off. We immediately returned and they "fixed" it. After returning home I noticed my phone no longer had service. Edwin shut off my phone. Seriously. The crazy thing is that we werent even rude or confrontational with him. What he did was illegal. Formal complaint filed and as soon as we are out of contract I will be done with them. Well, I discovered it at the least likely of places - at a cell phone store (an AT&T cell phone store, even) in a strip mall off a highway in Northern Jersey. My experience with cell phone companies' customer service in the past decade sounds about the same as everyone I know - impersonal, unhelpful, and un-budgingly rock-headed. If I had a dime for every time I spoke with someone at one of these places who clearly was quoting (usually in a heavily accented voice with a second-and-a-half satellite delay) from a script, or simply throwing POLICY in my face at every turn, well, I at least wouldn't have to worry about covering my cell phone bill. But here I have twice been treated not only with professional respect, but with a kind understanding, and a willingness to spend the time necessary to make sure I've been happy walking out the door. Manager Mark Cahill (and sales consultant, Juan Nunez) listen to you, speak to you like a human being, and help you navigate the sea of complicated choices, rules and regulations that govern the mobile industry. Given the fact that mobile technology is so increasingly a part of our lives (and our budgets), and given how many carrier options exist, wouldn't you expect this to be the case everywhere? I would too, but it isn't. So grab your EZ-Pass and hit the Turnpike and make your way to the Clifton AT&T Store. Especially if you're buying yourself an IPhone. If you go into the store knowing these guys are not electrical engineers, you'll be happy with the service. They're not going to be able to magically repair you're old cell phone. I worked with Danny. He was very helpful and knowledgeable with the Samsung s5. Help me change my plan and set up my new phone in about 20 minutes. Well, where do I start? Seems like the issues simply trickle down from the top. Perhaps it's company culture and there really isn't any accountability. I cracked my phone screen, thanks fully, that's why I pay insurance. I started a claim and received the email saying to go to the Clifton store at 775 RT 3 West. I walked in at 4pm. The manager Mathew greeted me and said someone would be with me. After about 5-7 min waiting someone came over. I explained I had a claim to get the screen repaired. Mathew came over and said that the tech was at lunch and that he would be back in 30 minutes. I said, "oh man, that means I'll be here for 2.5 hrs", Mathew said sarcastically "well, technicians eat too". At this point, it's no longer about the time or a break, so I said. That's an inappropriate comment, he simply replied: "I don't think so". Whew! Customer service is a lost art today. About 15 minutes later I watched the tech walk in. He came by after yet another 10 min. No biggie, I already knew he was on his break. However, he goes on to say that he will need 2 hrs to fix it, that they close at 6pm(the window says 7pm) and to come back another day. Now, I'm not even mad at this guy, but "Store Manager Mathew" could have said all that at at his first rude interaction, but no, let me sit there for now 45 min all together just to be told they can't help me! TL;DR - Extremely unhelpful, staff that wasn't helping anyone wouldn't help ring me up to buy one accessory. I went into the Clifton, NJ store to buy a case for a new phone that is arriving tomorrow. It was on the way to another stop I was making and being that I wanted to see the cases in person before I bought anything, I figured why not stop here. The store was on the busy side. About 20-25 people in the store or more, most of the staff was helping customers (most likely buying new phones, upgrading, figuring out rate plans, etc.) Since I was only looking for a case I didn't really see a need to bother anyone other than to ask where was the specific cases I was looking for. I was pointed in the right direction at least. After about 10 minutes looking at a small collection of cases (i didn't really find one I liked all that much but one that would have done the job), I went to the front register where there was one of the staff members standing behind the register. I ask to pay for the case I had in my hand. The gentleman who I cannot remember his name (he might have been a manager but the nametags are rather small and hard to read), asked me if I signed in yet. I said no, I'm just here to buy a case, not looking to upgrade a phone or add a line or anything of that nature. He asks me to sign in, I begrudgingly agreed. He asks for my name and says there's at least 6 other people in front of you. Mind you, there is no one at the register, and he's standing right there telling me this. So I ask, "How long is that going to take, as I am only buying one case and that's it. I really don't want to wait more than 2 minutes to be rung up for one accessory." He rudely says with an attitude "It will be more than 2 minutes." I put the case on the side of the register and walked out. What could have been the easiest thing in the world for this person to have one customer completely satisfied and out the door quickly turned into this negative review of some of the worst customer service I've had in a while. For any AT&T employee reading this: If someone has a very small purchase and requires minimal effort to get them in and out the door, you should train your staff to recognize this and act accordingly. There should have been no reason for anyone working the store to not spend the 30 seconds ringing me up so I can be on my way. I cannot believe the absolute disastrous service that ATT offers in New Jersey and New York. It is particularly upsetting to see Verizon users on the NJ Transit and NY subway jamming along while we ATT users can only see the "no service" prompt or, even worse, the bars full but no way of sending or receiving texts or email. I have the Nexus 4 s phone... In the beginning it was fine and then after having it for a few months the phone started getting really really hot in the back it would automatically shut off on me I would loose some pictures and when you take pictures the camera is terrible the picture quality stinks really bad.... I would call T Mobile and explain the situation to them and all I got was they would send me another phone the same one to replace it or I would have to buy a new one... This is the second phone that I had so why would I get another 1 if you keep doing the same thing, t mobile is terrible their phones are terrible the help is terrible I do not recommend t mobile to anybody go someplace else!!!!!
