    I accepted a promotional offer from Verizon for a free iPad and an iPhone. This came with a three…read moreyear service commitment to transfer my mobile account from Spectrum to Verizon. Clarifying point- I had been an Android user for my entire life and understood that I would be faced with a learning curve. THE ACTION: The purpose of my visit to the Verizon store on Las Posas in Camarillo was twofold, 1) To see an iPad13" as I was considering an upgrade from an 11" to 13" . 2) To get help locating my outstanding account balance in the "Wallet" feature on the iPhone. I had already viewed instructions online with no success. THE EXPERIENCE: I was optimistic when I entered the store because there were no customers and three representatives present. As I entered the store no one asked how they could help me, nor did they acknowledge my presence by looking up from what they were doing. I approached a large man sitting at a counter and asked if I could see an iPad and he shrugged and looked over to a wall. I asked if it was an 11" or 13" and he said that he thought it was an 11". I asked if they had a 13" that I could see, he said that I would have to go to an Apple Store. I told him that I had a question about my iPhone and asked if he could help me? He asked about my question and never looked up from what he was doing. I told him that I needed help locating my outstanding account balance in the "Wallet" feature. He looked over his shoulder and asked one of the women sitting at a desk. She got up to leave the room and as she walked out, with voice fading, she offered instructions. I asked the large man "what did she say" and he said "I don't know," again, never looking up from what he was doing. I told him to forget about the question, thanked him and began to leave. As I was walking out he hollered that "I should "learn how to use Google." I responded with "you should learn customer service skills." He continued to make disrespectful comments as the door closed. I recently learned that this store is independently owned and not held to the same standards as the corporate stores. Frankly, I have always thought that all Verizon stores were held to the same high standards of service, until now. It appears to this consumer, that staff at such stores are not held accountable for the manner in which they treat customers and perhaps that is why they were disrespectful and treated me as if I were "invisible." I am 72 years old and have never experienced such disrespect. I ask, had I been younger would I have been treated differently? Would you have tolerated your parent/ parents being treated like this? Would YOU tolerate such an interaction? THE OUTCOME: I have shared this experience with everyone one that I know, young and old, and hope you will do the same.
