I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how extensive the gluten free menu was here. It's so difficult to find even a handful of options at any Asian restaurant, but Asuka to the rescue! For my first gluten free take out order, I got a few sushi rolls - spicy combo (1 roll each of spicy yellowtail, salmon, and tuna, all without crunch), Boston roll, and tuna cucumber - as well as General Tso's chicken. Sushi was fine and was satisfying for my post-birth meal, but the food having had to travel a bit first probably did not help. I would have thought they would pack up gluten free soy sauce with a gluten free order, but they included regular instead. Thus I had the rolls with no enhancements at all. Still, points for clearly indicating quite a number of gluten free roll options on their menu. The gluten free General Tso's chicken was great! Again it had to travel 20-30 min before I could dig in, but still good flavor (touch of heat) with big pieces of chicken and some broccoli. It was this dish, not the sushi, that brought me back for a return "visit" - still take out. Second order consisted of General Tso's chicken, salt and pepper shrimp (yes still gluten free!), plain steamed broccoli, and Singapore noodles (curry noodles). The chicken was as good as the first time. The shrimp was really tasty - though I'm sure eating in would have been better so as to enjoy the crispiness. Take out breaded items will always get soggy fast - unavoidable so our strategy was to eat it somewhere close by. Noodles were also good - lots of protein (pork, chicken, shrimp). If you've had homemade versions of it, restaurant versions will always be saltier in comparison. It wasn't too salty, but just for awareness. We have been ordering sushi from this place for years and have absolutely loved it and recommended it to many others. However, the last couple of times it has been disappointing. The prices have increased while the freshness of the sushi has diminished significantly. Everything kinda tastes the same. A bit mushy, very fishy, and definitely not fresh. I ordered for the first time with them. I went through the website and only after placing the order did I find that they do not have delivery. Nowhere on the site does it say they don't offer that. It even asked for my address. Why ask that if it wasn't being delivered. It also asked if I wanted to tip. Which is another reason I thought I was getting delivery. Tipping culture is out of hand. I ended up having to go pick the food up. The person in the restaurant used the excuse that theu have never had delivery. How would I know that if ordering for the first time and the website doesn't mention that? Now, lets talk about the food. Dry, dry, dry! The only thing that wasn't dry was the wonton soup. Which had no flavor and the dough was thin. Chicken lo mein, the few pieces of chicken there were, tasted like it was pre cooked and then thrown in at the last minute. The Mongolian Beef and egg roll were both dry and flavorless. The topper was the white rice that was as dry as cardboard. I was absolutely blown away by my experience at Asuka. From the outside it looks like an average strip mall Chinese place, but inside it's very charming! The staff is also very friendly and helpful. Our waitress went above and beyond to sing Happy Birthday and bring a dessert to my boyfriend while we were there celebrating!!! She even took the time to take our picture! Their menu is extensive and includes both Japanese and Chinese dishes. We loved the pork dumplings to start. The dipping sauce is the best I've ever had! So, this review needs serious update. I remember this place was AMAZING. Not sure if they have changed chefs or if they were seriously off their game but it was not WOW anymore. Or it could have been that I came in about 2 hours before close? The entire place also reaked of bleach. Beef chow fun - extremely greasy and so salty. The taste was also a bit off as it seemed as if they tried mixing chinese flavors with japanese. i tasted a mixture of stir fried yaki udon with lo mein mixed in. It was kinda weird. The sushi - I ordered the same ones as last time and a few more. It wasn't as fresh anymore. In fact, the rice was a tad hard. Wonton soup - broth was very bland. Just got take-out from this new Chinese/ Japanese restaurant. I got eggplant in garlic sauce- pretty standard dish but so many places in the area don't do it right. Asuka cooked it perfectly- the eggplant was soft and velvety but not greasy, the skin was still purple but tender. I'm looking forward to trying their sushi! The space is really nice, too. We decided to give it another chance after about a year of avoiding it because the reviews are good. I drove by Asuka constantly and finally decided to stop in. Now I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. Amazingly polite staff and the food was delicious. There were three main Chinese restaurants in the area that I frequented constantly but the food has really gone downhill in the last few years which is disappointing. Luckily I can get my Japanese / Chinese fix when I'm at work, but it's a hike to go back for dinner. Thankfully, Asuka is such a pleasant surprise that I'll be happily driving up the hill to eat there more often. The food had a delicious kick to it, was balanced and fresh. Solid Japanese food. I got the Coconut Shrimp, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Spicy Salmon roll. Yelp loved the Coconut Shrimp app. This was a serving of 4 large shrimps and a viscous sweet coconut-esque sauce. This was a pleasant dish. It was reminiscent of something one may get at Ruby Tuesdays, an Americanized Asian dish. There was nothing spectacular about it. But as far as fried shrimp goes, it was pretty good. I am always a bit cynical of an Asian place that serves something like this, though. It's clearly pandering to less refined suburban palates. The sushi was all pretty good. The rolls were large, the rice was quality, and the fish was ok. There was a lot of filler in the spicy fish blend in the rolls. It was likely panko. Don't expect an exotic, or even authentic Japanese meal here, but this place is pretty good. I'd go here again with a friend who is a bit less adventurous than I. read more

The kids ordered chicken curry and chicken lo mein. They were happy with it. It was a very big portion they could have shared. I ordered a crawling tiger or something similar by name. it was awesome: the lemon sliver added so much. It had crunchiness and it was delicate.. I really loved it ! A very good experience that I would definitely return for. I love the fact that it's byob and only a couple stores from the wine & spirits which was super convenient. Not only that, the staff was awsome and even allowed my lady & I to leave out to grab a couple bottles once we ordered and realized that they didn't serve alcohol beverages.
