They are highly ethical and treat both their patients and staff with the utmost respect. I have been examined by Dr. Wood for floaters. I am developing a cataract (fortunately does not need surgery) but when the time comes I would travel to Arlingon Heights from Chicago. They have the most up to date technology including laser cataract surgery.

I live in the city but made the trip out to Arlington Heights for my consult, then went to their Lombard location for the surgery about two and a half weeks later, and came back to Arlington Heights the next day for the post op. Totally worth it. From start to finish, everything moved efficiently but never felt rushed. On the day of surgery, they took their time with the preoperative steps, did another full workup, checked my corneas again, and the surgeon personally evaluated me before getting started. That gave me real peace of mind. People kept insisting I would need a Valium or something to calm my nerves, but I didn't need it at all. The team was calm, confident, and made me feel completely safe. When it was time, the actual procedure felt like it took three minutes, and that was it. They made sure I understood everything before and after surgery, gave me a full kit with everything I needed, and treated me with respect the whole way through. Now I can see so crystal clear, I'm babying my eyes like they're made of gold. It feels illegal to see this perfect. Already hit 20/20 the day after surgery and looking forward to hitting that 20/15 soon. For the price, it is a no brainer. This is not a big box conveyor belt type of place. This office was a good office when Dr. Kozial was still there and Dr. Thoms was there full time…read more The departure of Kozial whom has retired and Dr. Thoms now a part-time this practice had gone way down in regarding patient care. In 2023 my husband was having issues with his eyes of redness, watery drainage as well as eye pressure issues starting of glaucoma. They prescribed an eye pressure eye drop with preservatives and also said he had starting of conjunctivitis in his eyes as well. He went for a follow-up in regarding the redness and watery eyes and his vision changing to where he could not see. They ignored his concerns and told him to continue to use the prescribed eye drop which he was allergic to. He called and they send him to a glaucoma specialist. By the time he was able to see the glaucoma specialist both of his eyes the retina became detached at the same time in both eyes. The glaucoma specialist cannot prove it but it is very possible the eye drops he was given for eye pressure was a steroid drop with preservatives caused his eyes to become very soft and caused his retina detachments in both eyes. Now after 2 years of treatment of retina re-attachments he is still blind. Just maybe if they would have listened to the allergic reaction to the eye drops and had him stop them and prescribed something that is preservative free this could have ben avoid his retina's detaching in both eyes? No way to prove for sure it but very disappointed with the Dr. decision to continue to using the drops he was given. Sadly he never going back even though he likes Dr. Thoms very much a very caring Dr. and very highly educated She was not on staff full-time to take of his needs and concerns. This practice went from a 5 star with Dr. Koziol to a 2 since there is not full-time Dr. that is competent with patient care. Now his current glaucoma specialist has him on preservative free eye drops and eye ointments. His specialist has found he is allergic to all steroid eye drops, eye ointments with preservatives and has to stay clear from them all.

So I scheduled it right then and there but I was not available to get it done on 3/31 I needed to wait until 4/2. So a week before my surgery I called just to confirm that the $300.00 discount was still going to be honored and the man told me no way. Be very careful what they say there and make sure you get it in writing before leaving.

Last year I spent about 7 months visiting various optometrists, just checking out their shops and…read moregetting a feeling for the vibe of the place. I like a very particular style of frame and I was struggling to find it anywhere. I also was struggling to find a place that was welcoming. I live in the city but my parents still live in the suburbs so after exhausting every option within a 4 mile radius of my apartment, I decided to venture out into the suburbs. I walked in and I was immediately helped. I told them I was looking for frames and I only wanted an appointment if I could find the frames. They said okay and they helped me try dozens of frames. The lady went through her entire inventory and pulled out everything that was in the style I like (a thin, rectangular frame with a wire rim that goes around the entire lens). While this was a frustrating experience, the lady knew her inventory and knew there was something for me. What I liked about the inventory is that they had a mix of designer and non designer frames with a point to have a range of styles. We found my frames after about 30 minutes of trying then on my face (at this point, in my 7 month hunt for new glasses I had tried approximately 100 frames). So I bought the frames and scheduled an appointment. The doctor was great (Dr. Heimlich). He was a very thorough doctor who spent more time with me than other doctors have in the past. When he found out my preferred brand of contacts was being discontinued, he listened to me and what brands I had tried before and helped me find a new brand to try out. My father noticed how wonderful they treated all their patients and he ended up shopping for lenses and setting up an appointment for himself. The rest of my family is also setting up their own appointments based on our experience. This isn't one of those big box stores where they don't take notice of you. This is the kind of place where everyone in the office works to help you out. I don't think I can ever go back to one of the chains again. The equality of care and service here is amazing.

And then I was supposed to get a year's worth of solution, and she gave me two tiny bottles and told me to stop and to get more. What's the point? I'm never going back here and highly don't recommend it. Now I have $200 worth of contacts that are useless.

She's so kind and always willing to hear me out and help fix an issue while I have one. The administrative staff here is also very nice. I can honestly say I've never had an issue booking an appointment. The office is clean, spacious and I get seen within a reasonable of time as well. Everyone wears masks and you don't feel like your health is jeopardy when you walk in here. I will continue to come here for all my eye care needs. I would definitely highly recommend this place for anyone who wants good, optimal eye health. I dare say that it is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for here so I believe the services you receive are well worth the money.
