Chicken Wings
Ronak P.

So the vibes are pretty great at this place and the apps are tasty. That's where it stops. I highly recommend the wings. Super tasty and saucy. I also recommend the orange wine as it's nicely balanced on the dry side rather than too sweet. The shrimp dumplings were decent but needed more sauce to accompany it. The main dishes seemed to have gone from a Asian forward place to a more American grill kind of entree. The flavors were too subdued and borderline bland. The cook overall was great but the execution and flavors were just not hitting the right notes. Would be back for maybe drinks and a bite or two but not for any one that prefers punchy flavors for their meal. Overall service was attentive but lacking towards the end of the meal.

Chinese BBQ Pork Ribs
Katherine C.

Randomly found this spot and ordered the chopped Thai salad, malpeque oysters, Chinese bbq pork ribs, flaming spicy tuna crispy rice, and bone in ribeye teriyaki. All of the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Wish the portions were bigger, considering the price, but we shared this food amongst 3 people and we were all full. Service was attentive and our waitress was super nice and knowledgeable about the dinner and drinks menu. She also recommended an amazing desert and did something special for my friend's birthday. The ambiance is super cool, love the decor and overall vibe.

We went in with high expectations given the buzz around this place however we were pretty disappointed over the course of the meal. Most of the food tasted like it had been heated from frozen and was cold when it came out. The crispy rice was anything but - although the flavors were nice, the rice was pretty soggy and cold, definitely not fresh. The orange chicken we got was pretty inedible and went untouched after the first bite. Fried rice was okay and sushi was good, although they sent out the wrong one first. Service was okay. The cocktails and vibes were cool so if you're looking for a fun spot to grab a drink, this is a great place but if you're looking for a good dinner spot, there are many better options on the UWS.

Kumquat fizz
Jayme B.

To start, the vibes were great in here. I love a moody restaurant with low lights and this place checked those boxes. However, we made a reservation for 4 at 8:30 on a Friday night. We were seated right away. We remained seated for almost 30 minutes until someone in our party had to flag someone down to say that we weren't greeted yet. A few minutes later our waiter comes over with water. We placed our drink orders. I ordered the kumquat fizz which has kikori whiskey, king ginger, kumquat, thyme, and agave. The cocktail was really nice. Light and not too sweet. For dinner, I ordered the asset salad which is supposed to have raddichio, gem lettuce, tomato, avocado and ginger dressing. I also ordered the tofu stir fry. Overall, my food was fine. I think the salad was a bit pricey ($20) for a starter place with no protein on it. This place was okay, but in a city where there are plenty of other options, I probably wouldn't return.

I love stopping in here on my way home. Same owners as Tessa on Amsterdam but Asset is open later so I tend to come here more often. It has a great vibe and chill ambience. Drinks are good, service at the bar is great ask for Jerome, he's a lot of fun and pours some good cocktails.

Happy Hour Menu Feb 2024

Maybe closer to 3.5 stars. I am a huge fan of the sister restaurant Tessa so I was dying to try Asset A few comments, the happy hour menu is available from 4-6. The regular menu is available from 5 pm on. This isn't so clear on the website... my recommendation is to arrive at 5 so you can get the best of both menus. we arrived at 4 pm so we ordered a few apps and half priced drinks, relaxed for an hour and then ordered off the regular menu. My friend ordered the Sizzling Peach cocktail which she really enjoyed. I ordered the Lychee Island Elixir and found it to be very heavy on the last ingredient (coconut) and not very lychee like. For $10 each though the drinks were nice. From the happy hour menu we ordered shrimp toasts and the general tsos cauliflower $10 each. Both were tasty, the shrimp toast was a favorite. My friend and I both wished there was a salad or veggie on the happy hour menu as we wanted something refreshing to cleanse our palettes after the fried food. We ended up waiting a solid half hour to order one from the regular menu. I then ordered a cherry lemonade which was delicious, refreshing, tart and not too sweet! We had the wagyu beef tataki $25 and a yellowtail roll $19 which was also quite tasty I also ordered the bluefin tuna poke $21- which was good, but I prefer the Tessa version with mango a bit better. Would come back for happy hour and apps But I would arrive an hour later :-) +Service was great, very attentive +Great ambiance- cozy and intimate inside. +Convenient location on 72nd and Columbus

While a fan of the previous iteration of Asset, the beau and I love the rebrand. Asian Fusion can be difficult to pull off but they do it successfully here. The place was full on a Saturday night but we managed to snag two bar seats to have dinner. The food was really enjoyable as were the bartenders who were so friendly and helpful for being in the weeds all night. The place is dimly lit and the lanterns add a festive touch to an otherwise vast space. They've really gone all out and we are here for it. Can't wait to go back!

Potstickers

It was a warm Sunday afternoon and some tv personality celebrities including Michael Strahan were hanging outside. We had just saw Kate McKinnon walking past us nonchalantly. This is the upper west side at its finest. The food was good and the flavors were familiar but unique too. The rock shrimp doesn't rival Nobu what so ever but it fixes the craving. The potstickers came out cold in the inside which tells me they were frozen. But when we told them they brought out a new hot plate for us. The potstickers were good! The crispy rice with spicy tuna on it was also warm/cold but tasty! Sitting outside is a scene and great for people watching. The service can be a bit slow but they were also nice and accommodating.

Forget the same old brunch routine! Asset has taken brunch to a whole new level with its bold Asian flavors. Say hello to Korean Fried Chicken & Waffles, with that gochujang honey glaze adding a spicy-sweet punch. They've got a whole menu of innovative dishes, you'll just have to come and see for yourself. Don't forget the drinks! Plus, their brunch playlist is fireeeee, setting the mood for a fun and unforgettable brunch experience. So ditch the ordinary and head to Asset! You won't regret it. what we ordered:  yuzu french toast  mixed berries, yuzu whipped cream  korean fried chicken & waffles gochujang honey glaze, pickled lotus breakfast crispy rice soft scrambled eggs, caviar, sambal hollandaise, crispy rice, togarashi salmon burger black sesame bun, avocado, sweet potato fries, spicy mayo ASSET benedict trio sauteed pea shoot, thai sausage, lobster, sambal hollandaise, english muffin BRUNCH BAR:  immortal pink tito's vodka, dragonfruit molasses, lemon, elderflower   duck duck goose dahlia cristalino, dry curaçao, matsui umeshu paw paw liquor , goose berries

Lobster Fried Rice

Gorgeous! The place is STUNNING inside and the vibes are so good. I got the volcano roll and miso soup, and my partner got the lobster fried rice and lobster bao (a special), and we shared shishito peppers. He loved the shishito peppers but said the lobster fried rice was average. My volcano roll was very good. The miso soup was not worth it for the price ($13).

I been talking about this experience every chance i get. This restaurant was so gorgeous the staff was hands down amazing the hospitality was top tier my food and drinks was so good i love this restaurant would i go back absolutely it's great for a birthday , first date , celebration or if u need a smile they would surly make it a great day

Tenesha S.

The vibes were really good, drinks were on point and the food was okay. They allowed dogs in the resturant which threw me off and I thought it was gross tbh and the only reason I would not come back but I know that isn't an issue for other people.

Udochi M.

My roommate recommended this place, said it had amazing Italian food. But to my surprise they rebranded a month ago into an Pan Asian restaurant. Interesting... but okay fun! Our server was really nice and gave us really good advice when picking from the menu. Most items on the menu are to share and I was a little worried about wether or not it was going to be filling, but pleasantly surprised that everything filled me up. The food: Chilean sea bass skewer 11/10 Spicy tuna crispy rice 8/10 Brussel sprouts 8/10 Spicy yellow tail 9/10 Everything I ate was literally amazing and it was a fast turnaround after ordering. Really happy I tried this spot out and I'll definitely be back. Standout pieces definitely have to be the chilean sea bass skewer and spicy yellow tail! But also the Brussel sprouts and spicy tuna crispy rice! So everything!! Price: $$$ (50+ each)

Are there Outdoor seatings available?

They had outdoor tables, but it was a very cold and windy night and the outdoor seats were neither heated nor protected. They may have changed that by now.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

They share a takeout menu and it's super easy to order--text what you want to the phone number on the website and pickup in ~20 minutes :). You pay on a handheld and they don't ask for tip for takeout. I love this process and truly wish more sushi restaurants in LA adopt the takeout box. The only one I know of is hefty but also $200 each lol, making Sanyuu's $69 omakase and $78 Everything don, not to mention the $30 giant salmon nigiri set, A STEAL! I enjoyed most of the pieces but I will say I don't like their amaebi or uni at all. I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable. We're spoiled by easy access to live spot prawns everywhere and fresh SB uni. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I lived in the city.

To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.

At the time, I thought that seemed fair enough, but looking back, I'm not so sure. For what was left in the bowl, $30 still felt overpriced. The fish slices were cut extremely thin, and there was really only a single layer of fish, so overall it just wasn't very satisfying. That said, there are still quite a few items on the menu that caught my eye and that I'd like to try. I'm going to chalk this one up to ordering the wrong dish rather than writing the place off completely. One thing that did leave a bad impression, though, was the interaction at the end of the meal. The girl who brought our check wasn't exactly rude, but she seemed visibly annoyed when we asked about using Apple Pay but ended up putting the charge on my card and it felt like asking her to bring over the Apple Pay machine was somehow inconveniencing her. She also didn't bother asking whether I wanted my receipt. Maybe none of it was intentional, but her overall demeanor came across that way and left us ending the meal with a bad taste in our mouths.
