Came here on a Friday night. Asset has been open my go to list, especially because its asian fusion & sushi. Great vibes and beautiful, modern ambience. Music was a vibe! It was not loud, so it was easy to keep a good conversation without shouting. We have reservations for 7pm. Got there a bit early and we were seated right away. It was not crowded that Friday (I'm guessing because of the thunderstorm). Our waiter Tiffany was very pleasant and was very attentive. We started with a lot of apps; the spicy crispy tuna (which was OK, we've had better), the vegetable dumplings (these were amazing!!), the shrimp toast (didn't enjoy it, wasn't flavorful at all, wouldn't order it again) grilled octopus (was OK, I've had better, the edamame and shishito puree was great! and definitely added to it), the pork satay (Great!!! Was delicious!) For entrees, we had the udon stir fry and added beef, and the lobster fried rice. Both were full of flavor! Not huge portions, which we didn't mind. We definitely enjoyed the apps more and would no doubt be back to try more on the menu. For drinks, I got the lychee island elixir and my friend got sizzling peach. We loved the drinks!!! Loved the strong coconut flavor. I know some people don't, but I think the coconut flavor was just right. I think we got 3 rounds of each Haha. Was walking in the neighborhood after visiting the museum of natural history when we decided to grab an early dinner. Didn't know what to expect but I was completely amazed. From the start with my drink, wild thoughts, I was happy. It wasn't too sweet, didn't taste too much of alcohol and was refreshing. This drink was recommended by the waiter. The waiter who by the way was great. Did not hover but knew to check on the table and refill water. The appetizers I had the garlic shrimp and street corn. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, not overdone, and the crostini along side it was perfectly toasted and made to dip in the sauce. The street corn tasted just like an elote of the cob. Both portions were large for an appetizer. My main course I had the half portion of the Cavatelli. This too was great. The sausage was perfect bite sized pieces, the pasta was cooked exactly how it should be, and it was flavorful. The plating of everything was also off high standards. I don't give out 5 stars often, but ASSET definitely earned it. I will return. read more

Perfect date night! Impressed by overall look of restaurant. We sat at a 2-person booth which was intimate. We started with the Spanish octopus. This can easily be shared with several people. It's a sizable piece of octopus. I loved the beans it came with. Next was the risotto with chunks of lobster and a mix of veggies. For my main I had the New Bedford sea scallops. There were a lot of different ingredients and flavors to this dish but they of course worked perfectly. This might have been my first time having sunchokes and I enjoyed each way they were cooked. We stumbled onto Asset after a long day of touring around New York. My goodness are we so happy we did. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and chic. It has a beautiful bar area with an upper level seating area as well! We ended up sitting at the bar area. My partner and I ordered drinks and appetizers! My partner ordered an orange wine and I ordered the margarita! We LOVED our drinks and I especially enjoyed mine. It was refreshing! We ordered the Buffalo chicken lollipops and the pigs in a blanket! Both were delicious with major emphasis on the chicken! Unfortunately we missed brunch...and maybe it's because we're from CT but we've never heard of a brunch ending at 5PM before! I was so sad we missed it but SO happy something like that exists in the first place! Typical brunch ends WAY too early on the weekends. Kudos to Asset for seeing that and doing something about it! Loved, loved, and loved. I am a sucker for a good ambiance and this place was it. There are two levels (we sat upstairs on second level), music isn't too loud, crowd was nice and mature, and the food was a hit. I met up to have drink and celebrate a friends birthday and this place did not disappoint. We both were in a chill low key mood so this place was just what we needed. We shared apps and little bites amongst each other and our waitress was just ok. She was attentive but maybe she could. have been a bit more helpful. She suggested a drink I didnt really like but I quickly replaced it with a Tito's Lemon Drop. I would definitely go back. My first thought when I left was, I have to come back. This place is perfect for a date night. We went on a Friday night at 9pm, and surprisingly, it wasn't crowded. read more

Went here for my birthday last night had a reservation there was no hostess in sight to greet us for at least 5 min. They have the nerve to hold your credit card information in case you cancel the reservation. The restaurant had no heating system it felt like we were outside my bf and I ate with our coats on. The food was bad to say the least my filet mignon was very grainy have no idea why, my bf's burger was not cooked well done as ordered. When I asked for it to be returned and to have a new well done burger they brought back out the same burger he bit into just cooked some more. Meaning they put the burger he bit into back onto the grill they cook other guests food on. Unsanitary to say the least. It was an awful dining experience I would never return. They tried with the decor and music but the temperature inside, the service and food was very poor unfortunately. read more

This is one of if not the nicest looking restaurant on the Upper West Side. Beautiful bar and really nice seating areas as well. With the remade Asian Fusion menu the food was quite tasty - loved the Rainbow Roll. It's become a very pricey restaurant though just as everywhere else had to raise their prices. Its super expensive running a restaurant in NYC so I can understand why prices are on the high side. Loved the vibes I totally want to go back during the day. Drinks: I started off with the Tonys Flower Child which was delicious. My second drink of choice was the Dirty Thoughts. Mezcal is not really my thing because of that liquid smoke taste but because this also had tequila in it as well, it balanced it off perfectly! Food: For appetizers we got the truffle fries and the wagyu pigs in a blanket. The truffle fries were good but I wish they weren't steak fries. Shoestring or even crinkle cut would've worked better. Now...the wagyu in a blanket is the show stopper. The red wine mustard blend...chefs kiss. Also, don't even get me started on the house made ketchup. Bottle that up and sell it, I'd buy. For entree we ordered the rigatoni and shared it. So happy we did because it's a really big portion. The cream based sauce *drools*. I'm not the biggest red sauce fan when it comes to pasta so I enjoy alternatives. We cleaned that bowl...every last drop. I'd certainly come back. read more

Had my birthday dinner here on a Sunday night and I think I need to be a regular here. The service was very accommodating and polite. The food came out hot and quick. My friend doesn't eat pork so they put the bacon on the side for our fried rice, how thoughtful! Also provided me with a birthday shot and candles from my cake. The menu is priced very well, have reasonable portions, and tasted delicious. The music was a bit of pop and Afro beats so very current. I agree with Molly T.'s point that Asset is very good, very solid - for the UWS. The dining options in this neighborhood tend to play things safe, so on any given menu, you'll find octopus and salmon/tuna tartare, as well as salmon, branzino, and chicken options, all of which will be executed pretty well but with not a lot of margin for excitement. Which is totally fine. They know who their audience is. (Also, I must be the only person in the world left who didn't realize TESSA and ASSET were sister restaurants by dint of their names. D'oh!) That said, I do think Asset excels at the event space - it's a lot bigger than it looks from the outside and the decor is sleek and polished. It's too bad that the surroundings are a bunch of empty storefronts but I hope Asset can drive some much needed foot traffic to this stretch of Columbus. I got two rounds of the Westside, with vodka, prosecco, mint, and lemon. Really refreshing, easy to drink. Tried a sip of some sort of spicy drink that wasn't my cup of tea at all, tasted like a mixture of cough syrup and cinnamon. Ordered the deviled eggs as an app and the chopped harvest salad as my main (they also give free toasted focaccia and olive oil). The eggs were a reasonable temperature (it always throws me off when places serve them either too warm or too cold) but could have used some more paprika to balance out the creaminess of the yolk. LOVED the harvest salad - dressing was not heavy at all and a really good mix of ingredients, with generous chunks of feta. Shrimp was a little on the smaller side but what can you do. Food came out quickly. Our waiter was especially patient as we were finishing up a dinner on New Years Eve and didn't rush us at all, coming by often to check and let us know it was last call for food and drinks. Its sister restaurant is Tessa which is Asset in reverse. Decor Industrial, metallic, lighting acents, the location has wide feel with high ceiling. There is a private space on the second floor and there is a large bar downstairs. Our party was served upstairs and there was plenty for our private group. Food From starters to desserts, there was a flair of fun and strong flavors. We started with focaccia bread with oil and chips with hummus. These items were solid starts with a particularly tasty fresh focaccia. The main dishes were salmon, free range chicken and cavateli with fennel sausage. The cavateli was the best of three. The dessert was a unique 15 layer chocolate cake with boozy milkshake and a apple crumble pie with ice cream. Service We had excellent service throughout the whole event and not issues. Overall Definitely, I would like to try more specialty drinks and brunch at this location. It is a good addition to the area. read more

One of my neighborhood go-to's. Great for a good happy hour or a sit down meal. I typically stop here on my way home from work for a drink. The ambiance and vibe are great. Huge plus that they allow my pup to come as well (you just have to sit in a booth and not at the bar). Highly recommend the goat cheese dip, lollipop buffalo chicken or the wagyu pigs in a blanket. We had several small plates including the grilled octopus that was really good, the wagyu pigs in a blanket which were delicious, and a side of fries that were amazing. We had a special of burrata on a bed of fig paste. It was good but the inside was not as creamy as I expected. Cocktails were really good, although they were $18 each. I had a blood orange G&T that tasted like a creamsicle. Service was superlative. The bussers kept our water full and our table clean and were very attentive. Met with family to celebrate an engagement. The restaurant is very sleek, and inviting with a great atmosphere. It has 2 levels with a modern staircase to the upper floor. The food and service were amazing. Our waiter Bruno did not rush us and we received our drinks and food at an appropriate pace. We had plenty of time to enjoy each course. The lobster risotto was out of this world. This is the first time I had ever seen Street corn on a menu and it was delicious. Our crab cake was all crab with very little breading and made to perfection. I ordered the duck breast and it was cooked perfectly( a little pink inside) with the perfect amount of sauce over a purée. The scallops were also cooked perfectly. Five stars for the SANGRIA. While walking by, we saw a table of 4 each having a glass of this beautiful ruby red sangria and we decided to stop for a glass too. Neither of us are lightweights when it comes to alcohol but man, this is a one and done kind of drink! To be honest it doesn't really taste like wine or most sangrias I'm familiar with. But man, it was strong! There's several different liquors inside and even by the first sip we could feel it hitting. I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Asset. I'd give them 10 stars if I could. My husband and I hosted a welcome reception at Asset for about 70 guests prior to our son's wedding. We were on the mezzanine level, which I must say cannot accommodate more than that number. The food was amazing and delicious; people offered compliments all weekend. One couple even returned on Sunday to eat Asset dumplings one more time before leaving New York! We were pleased that the passed food kept coming and the food stations were generously filled. Staff managed the room well, making sure that food was well distributed among all the guests (we have some aggressive eaters) and providing special drinks upon request. . . .even tea for the bride's mom! The wines were delicious and I heard many compliments about the interesting and tasty mocktails. Staff was very helpful in crafting our menu in advance of the event. They provided information that allowed us to accommodate guests with food allergies and other restrictions. The event was exactly what I had wanted as a welcome party for our out of town guests!
