We came here for a birthday celebration and wasn't disappointed at all! I have seen this location,…read morebut never stopped until now. I will say, the parking isn't the best. We had to park across the street and it was paid parking - so that adds to your experience. We did a reservation - so it was simply walking up and checking in. We were immediately taken back to your table and service was prompt. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and what goodies we might like based on what we were looking for. Let me pause and give kudos to the ambiance of the restaurant. Walking in the courtyard with the water in the background, makes for a beautiful and relaxing start to the dining experience. Once inside, with all the tables, it still didn't feel overwhelming or cramp. The light was just right - not to dark and just right to set the mood. Very romantic. Now, for the food :) We decided on the following for the evening: Lasagna - Fresh pasta, beef and pork ragu, bechamel, reggiano, mozzarella Lamb Shank - Lamb, truffle mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables Ribeye - Cognac peppercorn cream sauce, truffle mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables Tagliere - Chef's selection of Italian meats, cheeses, pickled vegetables Tagliatelle - Bolognese: fresh pasta, beef and pork ragu, reggiano, parmigiano reggiano, San Marzano tomatoes A Caprese salad EVERYTHING was soooo good and tasty! The lamb was spoon tender, the ribeye was hearty and seasoned very well, the pasta dishes were so fresh and simply delicious. No one had a complaint for their dish at all. The veggies were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The meat and cheese board had the best pairing with the tender bread. WE will return soon!

We weren't able to make the reservation for 12 because it only goes up to 10 on OpenTable. We ended up having to make the reservation for 6 at one table and 6 at the other table. To tease us, they put the tables right across from each other and put a table of 2 right in between us. To make matters worse is that we were celebrating our wedding so it would've been nice to have us all together. The restaurant gave me and my husband champagne to try to comp this I suppose but would've been better if they could've seated us all together. We started with the crab cakes and arancini. The crab cakes were fine. The otter crust was crunchy and perfect. The arancini was stuffed with cheese, rice, and meat and it was delicious. They were also crunchy on the outside but so soft and good on the inside. I had the tagliatelle. The noodles were prepared perfectly. It was almost as if I was in Italy. Something I noticed in Italy was that the noodles were never cooked too softly. They were still more firm but edible and delicious and that's how they were prepared at this restaurant in Raleigh. The dish was excellent and very tasty. My husband had the medium rare Ribeye with peppercorn sauce over mashed potatoes with sautéed seasonal vegetables. This dish was prepared perfectly. The ribeye was delicious and mashed potatoes had a great consistency about it and seasoned well.

I was appalled by the bartender who did acknowledge my wife and I when we sat down at the bar to order drinks. I let him know that I was not served and he embarrassed us in front of other patrons. I want many to recommend that you be careful if ordering from the bar. He finally brought me a menu and asked me what I wanted. I asked for a blue moon and told me they don't carry that and then walked away spitefully. Those of you reading this, I ask that you protest against this place until they change bartenders. He give this place a bad reputation. We did complain to the manager and she did her best to resolve this situation by giving us excellent service. This was an extraordinary act of kindness that we will never forget. Kasen has recently been going through a difficult time at school, and I wanted to give him a wholesome, uplifting experience that would help him feel happy, confident and special again. When Kian learned what was happening, he genuinely cared. He went directly to the owner and helped arrange a special two-hour, hands-on pizza-making experience for Kasen and me. From the moment we arrived, Kasen was welcomed with patience, warmth and enthusiasm. He put on his apron and was guided through the entire process. He worked with the dough, spread the sauce, chose and added his toppings, learned how the wood-fired oven works, checked its temperature and even learned how to handle the long pizza peel. He was able to watch his creation go into the blazing oven and come out as a beautifully cooked pizza made with his own hands. The staff never rushed him or made him feel as though he was in the way. They spoke directly to him, encouraged him, answered his questions and allowed him to take pride in every step. Watching his concentration turn into excitement and then seeing his face as we sat down together to enjoy his pizza was priceless. That wonderful cheese pull was only the finishing touch! For those two hours, Kasen was not thinking about the difficulties he had been experiencing at school. He was smiling, learning, creating, laughing and simply enjoying being a child. This experience gave him something positive to focus on and a beautiful memory to carry with him. Kian, thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening, caring and taking the initiative to make this happen. Thank you to the owner for opening the door and allowing Kasen to have this opportunity. Thank you to every staff member who treated him with such patience and kindness.
