Just got my bike back, she's as good as new! Jack helped me with my tune up, replaced the brake cable because it broke during my last ride, and new brake pads. Conveniently located near the red line. Super friendly service. And I got a free drink holder for my bike! Thanks!

Wow what an incredible bicycle buying experience! The owner, Jack, is honest, thorough and a genuinely nice person who supports the community. I just wish I had more money so I could buy more bikes and accessories from this great little shop!

Jack, Victor and the rest of the crew at Ashmont Cycles went above and beyond to get me a new Kestrel 4000 triathlon carbon fiber frame. Their customer service and attention to detail was top notch. Jack was very responsive via email/phone, providing updates on the bike build. If you're looking for a local bike shop that's knowledgable and honest, swing by Ashmont with your need/budget and they'll make it happen.

Jack Pelletier and his craftsmen built me this beauty. The only thing better than how it looks is how great it rides!

No attention to detail. Multiple trips back for simple repairs that just weren't done right the first time. Work was done by owner as well

Wonderful neighborhood bike store with knowledgable staff. The owner is super nice and even helped me recover a stolen bicycle.

This shop was highly recommended as the place to go for a stuck seatpost. I e-mailed several weeks…read moreago to ask if they could do this repair, I received a reply that they could, and was given a link to book a service. I booked a service for Monday June 1, the soonest they had available. It didn't occur to me to look at their days/hours, because I had been sent a booking link, and those typically only allow booking when the business is open and has availability. On June 1 I took the afternoon off, biked over from Roxbury, and the place was closed. E-mailed and texted. Received a reply confirming they were closed and blaming the booking company. No real apology, no offer of a discount or anything to make it right, not even an offer to get me in as soon as possible. This is not anything like how I was taught to provide customer service when the business royally screws up and wastes someone's time. EDIT: The owner has now offered me 20% off, though is maintaining that they are confused as to why "the booking company" allowed that booking. The booking link still shows openings every day of the week. Why are you using software that requires contact with a company to make changes rather than the industry standard that lets you make changes to your own availability in your portal any time you want?

Sure, everyone is super friendly and their mission is A+ but for actually buying a bike here...it's a weird experience. I went in recently to get a bike for a kid (preferably used (and I specified this to the salesperson) and was immediately shown a $1200 new bike. After saying that it was too expensive, a (new) (and cheaper) bike was brought out to show the kid that was in a frame 2 sizes too small. We did a test ride, liked the bike, and then when going over more details of the bike, I noticed that the kid was already beyond the height range for the frame (XS frame). Fine. They bring out another size (M frame). We test ride that and it goes well but then a different employee says that THAT frame size was too small and to scale up to a L frame. I did not agree with this assessment. Inside the store, yet a third salesperson recommended we stay at the M, even with accounting for growth. We ended up buying the bike with an accessory that was to be installed upon purchase. We buy the bike, buy the accessory, they take the bike back to tune it up to leave the store. They take a long time to do that with a vague explanation about the rotors and the front brakes but that it was fixed. Awesome. We leave the store and are headed home but then I notice that the accessory wasn't installed. Back we go for another 10-15 minute wait and no real apology for not doing the work right in the first place. Years ago, I went to check out buying a bike (at the old location near Green St.) and the salesperson would only talk to me about single speed bikes even after specifying that I was only interested in a geared bike. Another time I went to pick up a pre-paid special ordered part and the floor salesperson didn't know how to find a special order in the store. I had seen this person on the floor before, so I knew it wasn't, like, their first day, week, or even month. I don't know. Everyone else seems to love this place and maybe I've just had continual bad luck here. 2 stars for everything about the store, the third star is for the mission and programming for kids.
