Really enjoyed our visit to Asher Brewing! We tried the Mexican lager and the raspberry wheat. The raspberry was really good and well balanced. I liked the Mexican lager better after putting salt in it, but it wasn't my favorite. Service was excellent, and super helpful whenever we had a question about the games. Love that there is a pool table, dart boards, a game system... nice to have something to do! The decor was very cute. I appreciated the stained glass appearing covers over the fluorescent lights, especially! I enjoyed this brewery, and think you would too! read more

Asher Brewing is a really fun spot to spend some time, especially if you're looking for more than just a place to grab a beer. We sampled a couple of beers during our visit, including the raspberry wheat and Mexican lager. The raspberry wheat was definitely my favorite and it had a nice fruit flavor without being overly sweet. The Mexican lager was decent, but I have had better. The atmosphere was one of my favorite things about the brewery. There are plenty of games and activities to keep you entertained, including a pool table and dart boards. It gives the place a relaxed, laid back feel and makes it easy to hang out for a while. The staff was also fantastic and the service was quick. Overall, we had a great time at Asher Brewing and would definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area! read more

Found this little gem tucked away near another larger, and more popular brewery in Gunbarrel (you know the one). The staff at Asher was amazing: patient and thoughtful and just genuinely kind. It's dog friendly both inside and out, which is important for many Boulderites. We met some four legged friends we hope to see there again. My husband had the cherry lager and the amber and really enjoyed both. As a non-alcoholic girl myself, I was pleased to see six different flavors of kombucha available. Thank you, Asher! We played darts in the back where it was cool and the Olympics were playing on television. It wasn't very crowded, and everyone seemed comfortable and casual; perhaps they were the regulars. *** Mark my words ... "Asher is gonna blow up!" *** These guys are THE emerging brewery in Gunbarrel! Boulder has a plethora of microbreweries, as y'know. So what will make you think Asher will rise to the top? Two beers in particular ... and perhaps a third as well. The Greenade Double IPA has an amazingly distinctive full-bodied flavor, and the Green Monstah is terrific ale. Both are pretty strong (10% ABV) but you'd never know. Beers here are brewed using only organic ingredients. Perhaps that's why they have such a unique taste, uh? I dunno, but I'll say that I've never had better ale or IPA. I'm disappointed that they didn't have the Amber available in the tasting room; it's all sold out. I hear that it's great too. What a hidden gem in the Gunbarrel neighborhood! This place gets overshadowed by Avery down the road but Asher has some awesome beers as well (and all organic!). I went with two friends and we all did flights to sample the 8 most popular beers. Each flight was $12 which was reasonable for the amount of beer that we were served. Our waitress even let us taste a few beers before deciding on ordering flights. There is outdoor seating and plenty of room indoors to catch a football game, play a board game with friends, or even video games. Our waitress was super friendly and regularly checked-in with us even as we sat away from the bar area where most of the other customers were situated. This is a place I've heard of before and honestly it was on our way to another brewery so we popped in to just check it out. I was both shocked and excited when I saw a fresh hop IPA on tap so I immediately went for it. To date, it is my favorite fresh hop beer, which says a LOT. We also had the Kolsh with coffee and that was to die for. We tend to like coffee beers and found some amazing ones throughout Colorado and this is right up there with the best. The space itself is pretty cool... they have a nice sized patio but also in their warehouse they have cornhole, darts and other games set up, which is perfect for a cold, ugly day (not that Colorado has a ton of those!). I love how this brewery lets you bring your dogs inside. We went to the backroom which was pretty spacious and had a dart board and a pool table. 2 of their barrels were out so by getting a full flight (6 beers) I got to try all the beers. I was more of a fan of the lighter beers. The service was fantastic. Great place to hang out. read more

Guess I should have saved the best for last! I really wanted to love Asher but it just was average beer but the service was exceptional. Kate served us and she was awesome, so good I gave her a $6 tip on a $12 bill! Beer was nothing special - it was meh or really I should say "thin". Awesome place that I can see myself frequenting. What can beat organic ales and a little competition? I had treehugger amber, which was really flavorful to my palette and had a good body. Service was quick. We walked up to the bar and were attended to promptly. We got there a little after dark. We were able to see the string lighting they have out front on the large, branchy tree outside. It stands next to and hangs out over an outdoors area. Looks nice for warm evenings. The front interior was dim lit and standing area. The back interior is bright. There are tables to sit at. There is darts, two cornhole sets, and foosball. One wall is covered with framed photographs, which is neat to look at. The other wall has a large piece of artwork that you should give yourself time to observe and reflect, if that's how you do. Wow... this is a great find. And find it you must. It is located in an industrial park, and not really easy to find, but it is worth the effort. They make some high quality brews, and a bonus in that they are all organic. I love the brew names and logs: Green Lantern, Green Bullet IPA, Greenade Double IPA, Green Monstah Strong Ale, and Tree Hugger Organic Amber. I tried them all, and not a bad one in the bunch (except I didn't really favor their winter special sour). The staff are super friendly and chill, and I hope these guys start distributing around the downtown Denver area soon, and better yet... make it out West to California. read more

There was a nice space next to the main floor with some couches and games (this was great) and then more open space in the back with more games and such. I....... can't quite remember the beers I had, but I remember liking them. A few friends and I recently went on a self-guided, socially distant, bike ride and brewery tour of the Gunbarrel region of Boulder. Of the four breweries we explored Asher Brewing was by far our favorite. It is tucked away in an office space, providing a laid-back experience, small outdoor patio and plenty of parking. Their organic beers did not disappoint - we each had a flight and loved every sip. I only wish they distributed in Denver but was happy to hear they have growlers for sale! read more

This is Colorado's first all organic brewery. I am not a health nut, but thought this was interesting and was curious to see if there was any taste difference. We tried their IPAs both the regular and the DIPA. They definitely have a different taste, but I can't put my finger on what it is. My favorite beer was the Tree Hugger Amber. Ambers and Browns are my jam so I have had a lot of them. This one is really good. I could have sat out on their patio in the cool 60 degree sun all day long. I like that they are open at 2pm which is an hour earlier than most tap rooms in the area. Ari was super friendly and accommodating. They have a really nice space inside with a small bar area, a couch lounging area, and a huge game room in the back with cornhole, fooseball table, and dart boards. I used to love the beers here. The vibe was always a bit strange, but I never minded. Too bad the owner models his hospitality from Biff Tannen. On Sunday, after a long tennis match, the allure of a Green Bullet IPA was too great to ignore so I jumped on my cruiser bike and pedaled over. As I pull up, I see some guy sitting out front nuzzling his girlfriend. No biggie. They both look up at me and the guy cracks up laughing. WTF? He's staring right at me sneering/laughing. What, am I a freshman back in high school and I stumbled upon the cool kid's table in the cafeteria? Is Biff going to demand I do his homework and give me noogies? I have way too much to lose to start a fight with some loser, so I choose to ignore the jerk and go inside to get my beer. So, a little while later, Biff comes in, goes behind the bar and pours himself a pint. Whoa, so this guy works here? Yep. He's the owner, Chris Asher. What was it, Chris? You didn't like my bike? My attire? My hair? Considering the normal cast of characters who frequent this place, maybe you didn't like my "suburban dad Sunday chic" outfit. Not enough ink? No cig hanging from my mouth? Whatever it was, you lost a customer for life and I will continue to share this story, not so much to smear your brand, but I've been getting some pretty good laughs. (I do your sneering laugh pretty well.) Of course, you have every right to sneer at anyone you want. Hey, it's your business, knock yourself out. But, I've lived in Boulder for 32-years and have never experienced that type of obnoxious greeting at an establishment, let alone a brewery. The Boulder ethos of "live and let live" is lost on people like you. You know what, Chris? Maybe you should post a dress code or age limit on your website so some of us who don't fit your narrow window of acceptance will know we're not welcome ahead of time. I like to support small business and believe in letting bygones be bygones, so I wasn't going to leave a review, but since it has been communicated that I am no longer welcome at Asher for reasons I believe are intolerance in action, I've decided to express my opinion. I would have given Asher a 3 out of 5 (or 5/10). The beer selection is extremely hop heavy, the best one is mediocre, and all are slightly overpriced. The bartenders are good, though it's not a full bar, with only a handful of taps and snacks to manage. The brewery is in an unfinished strip mall unit with a 15 ft front bar, loading bay for Corn-hole and Darts, a front "patio" which simply is a sectioned off area of the parking lot, and smoking area next to the back dumpsters. So if I don't like the place all that much, why was I there? Because my friends love the place and I occasionally go there when invited; such was the case on election night 2016. . . In a nutshell, I spent most of election night drinking and playing Darts with friends; I fully expected and was prepared for a Hillary win. While getting a drink from the bar I heard a few hateful comments about conservatives, expressed my lack of appreciation over the assertions, and exposed myself as conservative, only to be openly and violently excoriated by more than half the patrons in the immediate area around me. Later, after returning to my friends and keeping to myself, I went to smoke (by myself), when a group of about 15 people came outside and began harassing me about my beliefs, only to interrupt any response by turning into a hate filled mob, lacking only torches and pitchforks. I received a volley of insults, curse words, and threats. The most outspoken of the mob, who later I was informed was the owner, Asher, I believed was ready to assault me; fortunately the bartender came outside and settled him and the crowd down (a 'thank you' to her). A little while later, the bartender told me that while the events of the night were unfortunate, they didn't discriminate against differences in beliefs, and I was welcome back if I chose to return. I acknowledged my regret for the events unfolding like they did, gave her kudos for handling a tough situation so well, thanked her for getting involved, and I left soon after. Then . . . More than a month later, I was told I was banned by the owner for the trouble I "caused" despite me being the one targeted by Asher and his friends and receiving physical threats from them. Believe it or not, I support Asher banning anyone for any reason, including me for fault on my part which he would say is real and I would argue is imagined; it's his business and has a right to serve or not serve anyone for any reason, good or bad. I do not, however, support his (and his patrons'), intolerance to the point of physical threat, extreme ad hominem insult, and banishment due to another holding an opposing view, while they preach a "holier than thou" message of "tolerance". If you go here it isn't likely you will be blown away by their product, nor is it likely you'll be attacked like I was for holding a different opinion. Certainly my story could have happened at any bar on a heated election night with alcohol as a factor, but it happened here, at Asher. I was going to leave it be, since I truly have feel no ill will towards Asher, until I was banned from returning. Asher, I wish you and your business the best of luck in the future and the circumstances may have been unique, but while my hands may not be completely clean from fault, the way I was treated by you and how you encouraged your patrons to act towards me for my views is NOT ok. Update: the owner setting the record "perfectly straight" is a flat out lie. I had to threaten to call the police before he backed off yelling at me. read more

I read a review about Asher in the paper, and was excited to try it out. Asher's location can be a bit challenging to find, but well worth the hunt. The tap room is small; however, I enjoyed the opportunity to talk with Steve, one of the owners and brewers. Steve let me sample all the beers (an IPA, a double IPA, a Wheat, and an Amber). I enjoyed all of them. My favorite by far was the double IPA. While enjoying the beer, Steve took me on a quick tour of the brewhouse. I liked the fact that Steve and his partner has put their souls in to this (and probably their future retirement!). I also like the fact its an organic brewhouse. Steve talked with me about the organic malts they use and the hops from New Zealand, certified organic. They only keg right now, although you can buy growlers to go. They plan to expand to canning operations in the near future. Please go visit them. Their beer is good, and if you're like me and enjoy the small, craft brewing tradition, you'll love this place. Asher is an excellent little brewery situated in the outskirts of Boulder. I have had their taster sets which are real good but the Asher beer that I like best has got to be the Green Lantern. It seems very popular with everyone as well because the second time that I went here they were clean out. They have fun logos for their beer too which is reflected onto their t-shirts. My wife and I stopped in this past weekend to try their beers for the first time. We were out on a mini-tour that started with Left Hand, then to Oskar Blues Tasty Weasel Tap Room, and ending up at Asher. We split a sampler of the five standard beers. They didn't have a seasonal option at this time. Nice chill atmosphere with a good vibe coming from the staff as well as the other customers. I really enjoyed the Green Bullet and ended up getting a pint. A very fresh, hoppy, clean beer with a ton of flavor. I like what they are doing here and I think we will see more of them around. read more

I stumbled upon Asher a few months ago when it was too cold to go further than a mile for a drink. Now that spring has arrived, I am hooked! I've definitely always been a beer girl, but Asher takes it to a new level. They have some of the best beer in the world (yes, the world! And, I have drank beer in many countries). The fact that Asher uses only organic ingredients definitely affects the taste and quality of the beer. The atmosphere is great. After picking up business during the summer of '10, they expanded from a one room shack to a larger unit next door that has a back room with bags (cornhole), darts, TV showing games, and art from local artists that's for sale. The only downside is that they have no kitchen, which is dangerous given that most of their beer is around 10%. (Welcome to Colorado!). On Fridays and Saturdays, a local barbecue truck parks out front. So go then if you can. If you are a first timer at Asher, try the sampler. But, the double IPA is hands down, the best! Been a fan of these guys since before the latest mega-brewery boom - discovered them on tap at a few hardcore vegetarian/vegan restaurants on the Front Range so tracked em down. Running an organic brewery is not for the faint of heart - take the tour if you are there at the right time and have your eyes opened. However, when the beer ingredients line up with this style of brewing, the result will far exceed comparable others. These guys have a hop wizard on staff, and the GreenAde Double IPA is still one of my favorites. Some of their other more experimental or mainstream stuff is fine, but not nearly as standout as the hops-centric varieties, IMHO. Also, as an expat new englander, I enjoy the subtle but clear boston sports swag presence. The back room is a pretty cool hangout spot that would be a great vibe in the winter, and the chill patio out front is nice in the evening. FYI - no smoking out front but there is a few dog tie-offs ;) Worth a stop on a brewery tour to at least catch your breath and experience a rarity - a true organic brewery. read more

I visited Asher Brewery for a tasting last week and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I had never even heard of Asher, and am not that familiar with the Gunbarrel area but I found it pretty easily, even in the dark. I like a wide variety of beer and will pretty much try anything, and I was impressed with everything I tasted (the only one I didn't taste was the Green Monstah). The Kolsch and Amber were probably the stand-outs for me, and I also really liked the IPA. The seasonal sour was very different (I'm not that familiar with sours), and I'm interested in trying more after tasting that one. I'm not so sure I'd want an entire growler of it but I would definitely drink it occasionally. After sampling (almost) everything, I really felt like there was something for everyone there. I also attended a brewery tour before the tasting, and it was very interesting for someone like me who loves beer but doesn't home brew or know a whole lot about the actual brewing process. It was so obvious from talking to the owners how much passion and knowledge they have. I really enjoyed hearing them answer questions and talk about their brewing backgrounds. I wish I lived a little closer so I could vist more frequently, but since I don't I have a feeling I will be buying growlers any time I'm in the area. I love to support home-grown places like this (especially since they're organic), and I have a feeling they're going to grow significantly in the future. read more

Met one of the owners at Yelp Craftafternoon, and he told us this deal was coming.. What a nice place. It is not overcrowded, but a nice crowd with excellent beer. Will go back and bring friends. Loved, loved, loved Asher! Even though Avery is bigger, more established brewery, Asher (right across the street within walking distance) was recommended to my friends and me while traveling through Boulder as the preferred local spot. I personally agreed - it was stocked with board games and videos games from my childhood, cornhole and more. The bartenders clearly took a more personal interest in the guests there and even offered to turn on my alma mater's basketball team playing. It was the first brewery in Gunbarrel and we used to go there and enjoy it, but now there's better options in Gunbarrel and of course many in Boulder. It seems like it's always the same beer and same crowd. The smoking outside also ruins the enjoyment too, because they don't have a designated area, so you're often surrounded by cigarette smoke, if you try to sit outside and enjoy a pint. I appreciate them being the first brewery in that area, but they have to experiment sometimes and change things up. read more

I drove all the way out here on Sunday without checking the hours first. I was with my girlfriend and we saw that they weren't open yet when we pulled up. Luckily they were going to open in 15 minutes, so we popped a squat and sat in the outdoor seating area. After about 5 minutes the woman opening up came out and let us in early. We told her we found out about Asher through the Boulder Passport and we were there to get out BOGO flight deal. So she got us a couple of flights, explained every beer with a lot of detail and told us a little bit about the brewery itself. Like many people in the area we try to eat organic, natural and local as much as possible and this brewery is right up that alley. They are 100% organic and the spot itself is a very good place to spend a relaxing Sunday. We went into the back room where they have two sets of bags, foosball, darts, etc. We played a game of bags against each other while I drafted my fantasy football team on my phone and we drank our flights. Afterwards, we went back out to the outdoor area and purchased some of our favorite pints from the flight. The Kolsh and Double IPA were my favorite. I bought a pack of the IPA to bring home. I will definitely be back, and I will be sure to keep an eye out for Asher Beers whenever I'm in liquor stores around here. read more

Best place in the neighborhood to hang out and grab a pint. Awesome beer, friendly cool people behind the bar, and a great crowd of regulars. They host fun things like corn hole competitions, trivia, and even a farmers market. Great spot for the community. The Amber is really nice and malty, kind of desserty and goes down smooth. The green bullet is a classic west coast style IPA with a clean profile and balanced bitterness. They have some that rotate and some that are constant. Good stuff. read more

Super friendly and helpful staff. The brewery is 2 miles from the boulder creek bike path so a great starting/ending/midway break for rides. The IPA boasted a hoppy flavor with a well balanced finish. They have a great selection of beers overall. They have a beautiful patio space that is dog friendly and in the fall shows off gorgeous fall colors. On weekend nights they have food stands/trucks. Friday night we were lucky to have the cheeses for charity (benefiting the local children's hospital) which featured a unique and delicious combination of flavors. It complements the beer very well! Organic Organic Organic Organic Organic Okay I get it, you are a bunch of hippies that think organic stuff is magical and has healing properties and is going to save the planet. It's not. But that's beside the point, the beer here is freagin good. Easily one of the most drinkable IPA's I have ever tasted, meaning I can throw one back without it feeling like too much. This CAN be dangerous when I'm not thinking about how much I'm drinking. I have had to be picked up from there on more than one occasion. Definitely a place all should check out. read more
