First, I thought she was a homeless person because many are in this area. However, it was her an elderly Karen who is the owner of raspberry salon, she was lurking behind my kids making me very uncomfortable.. She began to ask my kids what they were playing with. Then she began to ask them.another question about the piece of broken center block they had found. Which my kids found in the parking lot not hers. . I told racist Karen to back off and stop harassing my children and me. She began to get antagonistic, hostile and loud which she screamed to get off her property; and called me a bitch. I purchased a Groupon for the silk wrap nail treatment with Lynda. I figured I'd be in and out of there in thirty or so minutes, like any other mani service. Oh, no. This girl spent two hours with me - cleaning my real nails up, applying tips, applying the silk, then topping it off with a French manicure polish (which she wouldn't even let me pay the $5.00 extra for, even though I insisted.) Never did she seem rushed or put-out, like many other nail techs might have been. Lynda was extremely sweet and obviously cares about her clients. This is not a business that just wants the Groupon check, she wants to make sure her clients are satisfied. I bought a coupon for a Brazilian blowout with Timothy. I arrived too early, so I sat in my car eating a snack while I waited for it to be closer to my appointment time. I could see a woman doing someone's nails through the window and both of them saw me as well. When I walked in the door, the woman doing the nails (I believe it was Kimberley based on the website photo) asked, "May I help you?" in a rude tone. Apparently, she thought I looked suspicious sitting in my car or something, and did not make me feel welcomed. She directed me to Timothy's station. Timothy is not listed on the salon's website as a stylist so I thought that was a little odd. I also noted that the salon is not on the www.brazilianblowout.com site as an authorized salon. I am not sure what I got was actually a Brazilian blowout. It was a tedious process, so I understand why it was expensive. But it is supposed to last two-three months. It has only been two weeks and my hair is back to how it was before the treatment. I followed her instructions, did not wash my hair for four days (although that is not what the Brazilian blowout people recommend) and have been using sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. My hair looked great for about a week, but like I said, it definitely didn't last. Timothy watched TV (CSI-type shows) all throughout the treatment without offering much conversation. She just wanted to do her job and do it as quickly as possible. She was harsh with my hair and pulled out a lot of it in the process. She said she'd extend me a discount if I came back for another Brazilian blowout, but she made no attempts at offering good customer service, so why would I go back? I talked to a friend of mine who redeemed the same coupon and she had the same experience. She found Timothy to be gruff and rude, and also was not convinced she got the Brazilian blowout but some other treatment that is supposed to be similar but less expensive. This salon has all options. Extremely intimate but has an open vibe to it! You can shut the door if you want your haircut to be private. But the walls don't go all the way to the ceiling so it still feels open, you have the option for either one! The shampoo bowls are extremely comfortable! I even met the owner Kimberly awesome lady! Taylor Hagen cut my hair, shampooed my hair and styled it! The way she did my hair you can't put a price! But the salon and Taylor were very fare! A Groupon for a Microdermabrasion and mini facial lead me here to Barbara Shultz, and she is now going to be my new skin care person here in Austin. She is more than knowledgeable, professional to the T, and genuinely a wonderful person. She has great energy and you can tell she knows what she's talking about, and even educates you on how to take better care of your skin. I felt completely relaxed the whole time. I was visiting a friend in Austin, we decided last minute to get manicures, after using yelp we found Asberry's A'Salon! It was close by and had an opening in about an hour. Gina was fantastic! She has years of experience and I could tell right away this was going to be a good manicure! The place is also clean and modern feeling. Barbara is very thorough and takes time at the end of the treatment to demonstrate how to properly cleanse and moisturize your face. Well the summer sun had left my skin seeing better days, so I settled on a series of microderm with Barbara. It was a great deal for 99 for a series of three, which I just finished. She just told me today that is her permenant price for micro now, which is a steal. She does three passes and I have already seen a huge improvement on my skin. I have been going to Kimberly for 8 years for my hair. I had very bad tape in extensions put in prior to coming to see her, and they were in very bad shape. The glue was sticking and spreading all throughout my hair, and the extensions themselves were sliding out after a few days of having them in. Kim was able to get all the glue out, put new extensions in (that lasts for months with no problems at all), and she also gave me a great haircut. So I went there because my aunt gave me an Urban Dealight coupon for an intense conditioning treatment and a haircut and style. My appointment was at 5:00. I arrived at 4:30 just because I wasn't sure about the location, etc. When I walk in a woman came out from the back and greeted me and asked if she could help me. I told her I had a 5:00 appointment with Dixie and she said ok and walked back to the back. So the first thing I thought was weird is there was no receptionist who sat out front to make sure that you didn't need anything, etc. So fine. I sat and waited, and 5:00 rolled around and a woman and her daughter walked in and then the person that I assume was the receptionist asked them if they needed anything and the woman said "my daughter is here for a bang trim with Dixie" and Dixie immediately comes out and takes them back without even ASKING what I was waiting for. So I assumed that maybe since it was just a bang trim and mine would take longer that she wanted to get it out of the way and that was fine. So then as they are leaving another woman comes in and walks straight back to Dixie's room and starts chatting. I can hear the two talking, but I don't know what is going and time keeps passing. FINALLY at 5:30 (and NO ONE has come out and asked if I have been helped or ANYTHING) I start to wander back and find Dixie curling this woman's hair. I knock on her door and politely tell her that I had a 5:00 appointment and she says "with who?" and I say "Dixie" and she says "Ohhh that's me, umm well ok I'll wrap this up here soon do you need anything while you wait?" and I look at the clock, say no, and go back and sit in my chair. Then another woman comes in and goes straight back to Dixie's room and says she wants her haircut, luckily Dixie tells her she has to do my hair first so that woman leaves to get her and Dixie some dinner. Finally around 5:45 she brings me back and the other woman is still in the room just chatting away. She begins washing my hair while still chatting with the other woman. Now throughout this time she is barefoot and says it is because her feet are hurting which is a little gross, but ok, her choice. UNTIL she cleans her feet off with her hands, puts her shoes back on, and CONTINUES TO WASH MY HAIR. I found this to be really gross. So after the woman leaves, the other woman comes back with food and the entire time I am getting my hair cut sits there and chats with Dixie about everything from cats to her weekend plans while eating. Then she paints her nails in the room. All the while Dixie is cutting my hair and chatting. Finally my hair is finished and I get the hell out. Dixie did apologize for me waiting, but someone should really sit out front to make sure people take their appointments. While it is clear Dixie is a popular stylist, and I'm not complaining about my cut, I will never go to that salon again because it was totally unprofessional. By the time I was getting my hair washed I didn't even want to talk to her to tell her what I wanted done to my hair I was so frustrated. And I thought it was extremely rude to have your friends sitting in the room with you while you are cutting someone's hair. read more
