Our regular waiter is so friendly, and patient with our poor Spanish. 3. My friend's favourite meal of the whole trip was from here - something with tuna, more meat, and potatoes. Also a beautiful looking chocolate & banana dessert. I like their seaweed & cucumber salad. 4. It's been our favourite basic vino blanco thus far, and I've heard their tinto de verano is better than most too. 5. They bring olives instead of bread. Olives are always better than bread.

After suggesting it to my family, we decided to try it out, and Zelai blew our expectations out of the water! Their menu has some of the most interesting dishes I've seen, and they really seem to experiment with all sorts of food combinations. One of the most surprising was the seasonal salad with mandarin sorbet, I didn't eat it myself but the rest of my family liked it so much they ordered a second. I had the confit cheeks which were nice and tender, and my mom had the cuttlefish brioche which looked amazing. We ended with dessert, and ordered 3 for the table to satisfy our sweet tooths. The coffee cake was delicious, along with the lemon pie! All in all, it was a great experience, and if I'm ever back in Sevilla I'll definitely be back!

The ambiance was relaxed and comfortable; our waitress was extremely friendly and answered all my questions about the different foods. The anchovy tapas were salty; I wanted to try something new so that could just be the way anchovies are. I went all out and ordered the filet of bull. It was quite red on the inside and seared on the outside. The taste was gamey. Our waitress explained that too much heat makes the meat tough, hence the contrast between inside and out. The deer meat was delicious and so was the paella, which I enjoyed more than a seafood paella. We had considered dessert but had to decline as we couldn't eat another a bite.

Ok...I'm giving this one 5 stars, because it is like taking a walk into Top Chef where the main ingredient is Cod, and I'm putting a condition on the 5 stars (like most/all of my 5 stars), there are specific dishes to go for. These people know Cod. I have had cod is more ways in one lunch than I have ever had in this one restaurant bar, and that deserves 5 stars for originality. I've samples cod dishes I've never seen before anywhere. I'm going to make my specific recommendations below, along with a wine recommendation for purchasing a great take away bottle of wine (they sell a great bottle of wine, that can be bought at the restaurant, for 6 euros that is supposedly only sold here...you kidding me, I spend more driving to the market in Los Angeles)? I'm including a picture of the label. This place is completely worth the visit for lunch or dinner...their menu has an insane number of cod dishes, all different ways, from raw to cooked, from simple to complicated, to specialities you will find no where else. This is the first time I giving a 5 star to restaurant for pure originality on a simple ingredient, cod. For sure I will never find another place that has so many varieties. By the way, they have something on their menu called foie gras. It has consistency of late, but slightly harder. I think it might be cold foie of goose, if it is pate, it is the best in the world. It is worth it if you are in group. Please contact me if you figure out what it is, but it is good. I had raw cod here cod carpaccio. I've been to so many sushi restaurants, I cannot count. Never seen raw cod carpaccio, they have it here. I've never, anywhere seen it on a menu anywhere. 5 stars for originality.
