We dined here on my birthday and were very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The surprise relates to how few tapas we ordered and enjoyed on our trip prior to visiting La Mata 24. Not only does this restaurant have many menu options, but also they have quite a few healthy ones, numerous inventive ones, and (based on the 6 or so we ordered) many utterly delicious ones. These are not the tapas you will see (or may eat) here, there, and everywhere else in Spain.
I can't remember everything we ordered (we had croquettes, a chicken option or two, seared tuna, and a few others), but I do remember that everything was well plated and scrumptious. It also bears mentioning that we were given a basket of bread and a small dish of mixed olives to munch on while we waited for our dishes to arrive. We topped this meal with the white chocolate cheesecake, which was the best cheesecake I've ever had (and I've had many cheesecakes in quite a few countries).
Surely the individuals and groups who stopped by hoping for a table (many of whom were turned away), are testament to this restaurant's food and popularity. Based on the same, I'd recommend making a reservation in advance.
I can't really speak about the restaurant's interior atmosphere as we were seated outside. The outside view wasn't anything special (at least not from where we sat facing parked cars and side street traffic), but we enjoyed the beautiful evening all the same.
BOTTOM LINE: We enjoyed an amazing, celebratory meal at this restaurant. Should you choose to dine here, you'll very likely share our high opinion of La Mata 24. read more
