Our friend Gloria and her husband invited us for dinner to celebrate her birthday. We are always exited to try new restaurants. We had a large group in our party probably close to 20 guests. NOT! PARRILADA ASADO - disgusting! The blood sausage and tripe - horrific, which I actually like but not at Asado. Once I brought this mix up to our waitress's attention she said that the only difference is that we didn't get the chicken, well I no longer had the menu but that did not sound right. She quickly said that she will bring us some more chicken which never came because they were out. I also complained to the owner and this is what he said " you are crying because you didn't get the chicken?" At that point and time I was speechless and didn't know what to say which is very unusual for me as well I didn't want to make a scene in front of my friends, he asked me what I wanted. What a poor customer service! He did not offer us anything in return. In my opinion the owner should stay in the kitchen where he belongs. Once I voiced my opinion he told my Latino friends not to ever bring us over to his restaurant. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT! This place is rough. I Really want to like it but 3 strikes you're out. I first went just over a year ago with a large group. Slow wait times are acceptable when you have 15+ people at your table-- we were there 3 hours and none of our steaks were cooked properly. I went back 2 months ago for dinner and it was pretty empty. Still took over an hhour before I got my food. I spent 4 years in Argentina and Uruguay. Flavors are good but they don't know how to hit a steak temperature and half the food was not edible (I'm not a picky eater IMO). I was on a business lunch and the guy I was with Barely touched his food. I went bacK this week for the final time. Bad service again and just ok food I love a good steak but don't have 2+ hours most days and if you ask me what temp I like it then cook it to that temp otherwise don't ask. The quality was great, portions generous, awesome presentation. The owner met us at the door with a smile and a pat on the back. He came to our table to ask us what we liked to eat. I wanted to like this place, after all the great reviews of course I came in just expecting that the meats would be amazing as my experience with most Argentinian cuisine is great detail the way they cook their meats. Service was ok attentive to drinks and great with taking out order and making suggestions, when the food came out everything seemed dry I felt like even the server was hesitant as she lay out the platters. Searched for empanadas on google and the pictures of the restaurant looked quiet and relaxed. This place is extremely upscale however. Our waiter was sweet to us but the receptionist seemed to take an issue with us wearing an Adidas jacket and not a black tie and was curt and almost refused to let me go back to our table when I forgot something while we were leaving. He said they most likely threw it away when I could see in on our table ten feet away. My mom and I just had our first experience at Asado, and because my mom and I are originally from Argentina we had very high expectations about every aspect of this place. And let me tell you it blew our minds how incredible everything was. The staff was amazing, super nice and helpful with anything we needed. The atmosphere made me feel like we were back in Argentina with Tango music playing in the background and the huge portrait of a busy Argentinian city. As a person of younger age, the price tags for many of the options are a bit overwhelming, but overall the food is worth just about every dollar. The bread that they start you off with is super fresh and crunchy to perfection. The empanadas are traditional and flakey, and at $2 per empanada, it competes with most other nicer Argentinian places around. The burger was master crafted, albiet it left a small puddle of oil when I was done. Ocotillo specializes in the cuisine of Sonora, Mexico, a region known for bold meat and seafood dishes. They also offer a daily brunch menu that is worth planning your weekend around. Bathed in a three milk mixture and topped with fresh berries and whipped cream, moist but not to sweet. The Sonorense combination was equally impressive. Arrachera steak strips, chilaquiles made with poblano chile, a tamal de elote, and two eggs. The arrachera was excellent and the chilaquiles were crispy, which is exactly how they should be and not something every kitchen gets right. The menu is long enough that choosing something different next time will be a genuine challenge. Omelettes, chilaquiles, brioches, and other specialties give you plenty of reasons to return. We are already looking forward to exploring the lunch and dinner menu. Now to the review. the first thing I do at any restaurant is ask about their gluten free options and about cross contamination. This was the first day that the Provo location was open, so I expected there would be blank stares. believe it or not that happens a lot. Here they knew about some of the food but not all of it when it came to my questions. So they went back to ask, "I want to make sure so let me ask". the next thing i knew I was speaking to the owner, going over all of the items and the options I had and what to avoid. He made some suggestions and we went ahead with our order. I got. the tri tip steak and my wife got gnochi. Oh another thing about how i like my food. I like the ingredients, steak, potatoes, vegetables, etc, seasoned and not the other way around. I find a lot of places over season their food. Not here. the steak, veggies, and mashed potatoes were lightly seasoned, just enough to enhance the flavor but not overwhelm the core ingredient. the steak was tender, the vegetables perfectly cooked and seasoned. I didn't even try and figure our what seasonings they used, I just enjoyed the meal. Short of this part of the meal, fantastic. With the gnochi, we had a little bit of an issue. There was a problem with how they were cooked, they were a little stiffer than they should be, but the sauce they were in was fantastic. BTW, they are not gluten free, so this is my wife's perspective. When they asked how our meal was we mentioned that to them. They looked at the gnochi and agreed. they then didn't just correct the issue, but went above and beyond. They asked if we wanted something else, made a suggestion since we couldn't decide and prepared that for us. They also did something else while we were there. They tried to make more batches of the gnocchi, not for us but so that they could see what went wrong. Then came back and told us what they had done and the results. The service was some of the best I have ever had. They had a good selection of gluten free options, depending on your sensitivity your options might change, but there are plenty of options and a few that are not on the menu. The owner suggested a burger on mashed potatoes, even though they have a gluten free bun. My gluten sensitvity is pretty high, so he was providing as many options for me as possible. All in all, I really liked the food, the service, and the attention to my food sensitivities.

The Brussel sprout dish we had was extremely sweet to the point it was hard to eat more, the potato crusted chicken was on par with any diners country fried steak. The complimentary bread was delicious, soft, and a good starter. Overall I would only come back for the prime rib and skip ordering anything else.

The appetizers came out late, it was the pretzel with cheese and unfortunately, both were cold. For the entrée, the majority of the table got some type of salmon. The picture listed is the blackened salmon salad, which was excellent. The biggest downside of the evening was the service.It was tough to find a waiter, our drinks were slow to be refilled, the food took a really long time to come out, and they acknowledge that the kitchen was behind which made for a mediocre experience.
