Ah this place. There are several ramen places closer but we drive 40 mins to this one when we want ramen. It's the art of ramen here. So some updates... The queuing system has improved tremendously with the updates to an online reservation system. There are now more waiters to help out too. We were seated almost immediately, with the high chair ready for my daughter. Server was extremely polite and answered all our questions. I was also impressed with the way he handled the impromptu 18 person party. Definitely try the Karaage (fried chicken) for appetizers. The Chashu ramen is a big bowl... so you have a few options whether you're a big or small party: order half bowls of ramen and get more appetizers, or full bowls and less appetizers. If you're a food glutton just go with full bowls and appetizers all round, then take what's left home with you. read more

Let's be real I eat here way too much not to give this place 5 stars. It is AMAZING EVERY SINGLE TIME. Super fast, super delicious, super cheap. The appetizers are the unsung hero's of this restaurant. If you haven't had their karaage fried chicken or chashu buns definitely go get them. Also secret menu hack if you aren't feeling soup get yourself a chashu bowl ( marinated pork and rice) and tack on a side of egg. So so .....soooo delicious. read more

It's nothing like American super cheap knock off ramen, trust me. It seems like there is usually a 10-20 min wait but it's so worth it. Parking behind the restaurant or on State Street. Order extra noodles to go for $1.50 and save your broth for another meal. We had our two kids with us. I have been to this establishment many times over the past year. Every time I go, I leave full and pleased. The portion sizes are large, and the prices are fair. The broth in the ramen is very thick and seasoned. Staff is friendly, and very helpful in understanding the different options of ramen. (I don't know about you guys, but I do not speak Japanese.) The only downside of this restaurant is the fact that seating is very limited. Come here during busy hours on a weekend and you best forget about finding seating. However the amazing food definitely takes over this small inconvenience, and I would still highly recommend trying this ramen. read more

I've been craving good ramen since I had it in Japan last year and haven't been satisfied until I found this place. It tasted exactly like the ramen I had in Japan! The price is great for what you get because even the smaller size is pretty large and they definitely don't skimp on all the good stuff such as the noodles and meat. The service was just as good as the food. Our server broke down each of the different bowls and I ended up with the server recommendation as usual. For such a tiny shop and street parking, I was a little surprised to see that this place was packed on a Tuesday night but after eating here, I totally see why. Excellent ramen spot!! I did not have to take pictures because the photos on this profile already do the dishes justice (what consistency!) I got a local recommendation out of the blue for ramen, and I thought, it's been too long since I've had some good ramen. Thankfully they gave me a heads up and said Asa is usually busy, so I made sure to go on a Monday right after their second opening at 5pm. We ordered gyoza (yummy must!) and we ordered 1 chashu bun to split. I have to say, that bun was to die for! The ginger sauce flavor tastes so much like a creamy, ginger salad dressing I used to always get at this one sushi spot. So fluffy and fresh. What a treat! Should have got my own... I LOVE that they do "half" orders of ramen. I use quotes because a half order is really a full order for most people. Don't get me wrong -- I can eat a full order on a good day, but not today! Not after that chashu bun, ya know. My bf ordered the Karai (spicy ramen) with I believe miso broth. I ordered the Tonkotsu/Shoyu Blend ramen with medium-sized, wavy noodles. Both came with all the toppings listed on their menu (I always have to have egg, chashu, green onions) and both were really, really good. Both dishes were unlike any other ramen I've tried, but they were definitely making that drive for. Prices are mind-blowing. Bar is dry, but there is open seating (distance between individual parties?). Parking on street in front and more in back. Seems like any day would fill up quick -- and for good reason! I lived in Japan for over 5 years and so far this has been the closest to authentic that I've found in the Provo/orem area.

I arrived and waited until they opened for Saturday lunch. Soon enough, multiple groups rushed in--a good initial impression. My meal consisted of a "chashu bowl" to start and half "tonkotsu/shoyu - blend ramen" to finish. One oddity immediately stood out with the rice entree: there was NO "tare" dressing. In place of that, the bottom half of rice was soaked and mushy from some kind of liquid--could be chashu drippings or soup stock. I had never been served (or have personally made) soggy chashu rice and without tare sauce. It felt like a unique but bizarre concoction from the chef. The ramen appeared and tasted ordinary. Plus, much too salty. The restaurant was out of bamboo shoots but I wasn't notified. I believe extra mushroom was compensation. However, it'd be more appropriate to inform then inquire customers if they wanted substitution via another ingredient. read more

The medium soft-yolk eggs flavor is my favorite part of this place. I almost always get extra eggs. The half and half broth is a good place to start if you don't know what you want. The chashu buns are good to share and worth trying at least once. Sometimes the meat is too fatty though. Getting it as takeout is good too. Portions are decent. I friggin love this place but lately I've been turned off by the extremely cold and impatient attitude of the staff. Really great ramen, that hasn't changed. But it used to be one of those places where the staff recognized and loved their regulars and were on a first name basis. But the welcoming, warm and personable atmosphere has gone out the window. The staff treat you like you are an inconvenience just for doing regular things like coming in the door and ordering. Don't you dare ask a question or make a mistake on your order like my friend did tonight. Today we were on the waitlist and missed our text by four minutes (the cut off is 5), and got treated like criminals when we went in to claim our table. The longer haired server was so openly hostile about it I was shocked. Both of the servers could be seen complaining about guests to each other and rolling their eyes. Note to servers: it's too small of a restaurant to exhibit such obvious disdain for guests. We can all see you and it's very clear. You know those people you're so annoyed at? They are paying your wages. So, go get a job that you don't hate so much. Ideally one without human interaction. Note to manager: get new servers so your guests feel like coming back. read more
