I have been having issues with this doctors office but today was the last straw…read more Please do not go here, good doctor but definitely did not have a good experience, the doctor gave me a higher dosage on my blood pressure medication, I had an appointment today just to find out i owe for previous appointments that I thought were free bc no one ever said anything, so instead of a payment plan for the patient that has been going to her for over a year, bc I am not able to pay the entire balance today, I am unable to see the doctor to change my BP medicine, also did not know my appointment today was going to cost as well....the ladies at the front desk have horrible customer service, lack of empathy, no conflict resolution skills. I have called to the doctors office a few times to ask a question, they never give a call back when you need something but did give me a call back today to say I owe for previous appointments..I also have called the doctors office weeks ago and no one never mentioned I owed anything..also I never received a bill from them. This doctors office care more about being paid then there patients.

**My username is an alias, for privacy reasons. I'm a legitimate patient**…read more Dr. Alvarez or her practice or both are either incompetent, insane, or badly run. I was recommended to Dr. Alvarez by a friend who is a patient of hers. My PCP sent over the referral. I was not allowed to make an appointment with Dr. Alvarez when I called them. First, I was told there had to be a "transfer of care" because I previously saw a doctor in their group (GI Alliance) two years ago. They said that the transfer was pending, a mere formality, and that I should hear back later that day. No one ever called me back so today, I drove over to their office. I spoke with the Office Manager, who flat out said Dr. Alvarez had looked over my chart and is refusing to see me. NO REASON WAS GIVEN. Huh?? That is a first for me. I've never been denied to see a doctor for non-insurance reasons. My PCP's office then called over to them and was again told about the "transfer of care". That's not what the Office Manager had stressed to me. Seems no one has any clue what's going on here and I still have no real idea why Dr. Alvarez is refusing to see me. I urge anyone wanting a referral for her to exercise caution...and consider looking elsewhere. Clearly, there is a lack of transparency here and no real evidence of a doctor who really cares...certainly not about future patients or their health.

Becoming a doctor granted me the art of being able to connect with people while treating their disease and/or ailments. In conclusion, patient's concerns and preferences are always a priority in my mind on forming treatment plans and I feel this is an important part to maintaining the patient-to- physician relationship and key to treating disease.

Dr Gary Goff the best doctor i have ever had. He is very knowledgeable, caring, patient, and kind…read more I first started going to Dr Goff when he was at St Paul Hospital which is now Utsw. When he moved his practice North I didn't want to drive that far. That was the biggest mistake I have ever made. I have been back with him for three years now and would fly to another State if I had to. He is that good. Trust me you would not be disappointed. I have had all of my family move over to him. He never rushes. He is so dedicated to his patients. This past year I was very sick and I remember Dr. Goff saying to me: My job is to keep you alive. What Doctor do you know where if you are sick and you need him he will respond. His office staff is very friendly and Stacy she is the best of the best. She is loving and caring as well. Hid Nurse Practitioner Lori is awesome. I see Dr. Goff or Lori when I have to an appointment. You very seldom have to wait long, but if you do, he is worth the wait.

I really wanted to like Dr. Goff, but between feeling completely dismissed/invalidated, the lack of…read moreattention to my actual priorities, and the absolute nightmare of dealing with his office, I finally gave up and switched PCPs. I scheduled with Dr. Goff after experiencing a gap in healthcare coverage. I have several established chronic medical conditions and prescriptions I've been on for years. I primarily needed to get back on my meds, obtain appropriate referrals (HMO insurance plan), and develop a plan for ongoing care. Instead, I spent approximately THREE hours at the appointment, much of it spent listening to lengthy explanations that were either totally irrelevant to my concerns or so basic (like suggesting turmeric for inflammation) they darn near insulted my intelligence (as a Personal Chef for clients with health issues, I do know what turmeric is, yes). After suggesting a Medrol Pack to get my autoimmune flare under control, I explained that I try to avoid steroids after extensive cortisol testing and having bad experiences trying to taper off steroids, including going into a months-long Prednisone withdrawal that left me depressed and lethargic. He completely invalidated me and went off on a tangent about another physician at the VA in Arkansas who had supposedly kept a patient on steroids for years, calling cortisol testing a "cash grab". After all that, the ONLY prescription he initially sent in for me was the Medrol dose pack, the ONE prescription I specifically said I did not want. None of my regular prescriptions were filled, and one prescription wasn't even included in his notes, so when I requested my prescriptions actually be sent to my pharmacy, I was told I needed another appointment so he could document why I was taking this particular med. What's funny is this took 2 portal messages to get a response, and by the time they responded, I had actually already been back in person to go over labs (and stuck with the PA or CNP who knew nothing about my issues). I shouldn't have to schedule and pay for another visit because something wasn't properly recorded the first time. He also ordered several tests that weren't really necessary, including H Pylori (I've always tested negative for H Pylori, my ulcers from DECADES ago were confirmed to be from NSAID usage, and my chronic Gastritis was confirmed to be inflammation-related). He also wanted me tested/seen for a rare genetic disorder (EDS), which I do not have the genetic mutations for OR the majority of the symptoms. He insisted I see a Cardiologist (even though I JUST saw one) and also ordered a Lipoprotein(a) test, which is a once-in-a-lifetime lab test that is specifically excluded from my insurance plan. When I repeatedly asked his office to help provide the medical justification my insurer requested, I was essentially told it was not their problem. The referrals I needed? I had a Chiro/PT place I liked, but he instead tried to send a referral to someone within his hospital system (out-of-network for me). He mostly seemed interested in hearing his own voice, trying to reinvent the wheel, and sending referrals to his buddies. None of my actual needs/priorities seemed to get addressed. And yet the office/staff is somehow worse. When I say no one answers the phone, I mean literally. Sometimes you get no answer at all; other times, you're told you're the first in line and no one answers for 45-60 minutes. Portal responses are often dismissive, unprofessional, and barely address the actual question. They also reply in all caps so it looks like they're yelling. When I told them I was switching PCPs, no one cancelled my upcoming appointment, so I had to spend more of my time doing that to avoid a no-show fee. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect a doctor to listen, document things accurately, and have an office capable of basic communication. Apparently that's asking WAY too much.
