    UPG is where I'll be coming for my Infectious Disease, and general Primary Care for the future,…read moreuntil they shut the doors...or they send us all away, which I don't foresee happening. Dr. Hays, Dr. Lee, Dr. Graneto, ALL of the Nurse Practitioners...they're all wonderful! That being said, don't come in with attitude. They won't tolerate it, and that's not a bad thing. They WILL ask you to leave if you're being rude or unruly, or not wearing a mask. ALSO, wear a mask -- it's required in THEIR building, by law AND by request -- don't have a mask on and they're going to provide you one, or send you home if you refuse. It's just that simple. I've seen a lot of people complaining about insurance issues on here as well, and you can't blame your horrible insurance companies that didn't bill you correctly, as a mistake from the practice -- my partner and I both see the same doctor, they CODE us for exactly the same things, but due to my advanced stages of certain issues....they cover more for me than they do for my partner who's slightly more healthy. I have X number of issues, and the Insurance Company knows this -- if you're ever unsure of charges, call your HI Company first -- I can almost guarantee you, THEY messed up the billing and coding....not UPG. 99% of the time, this has been the case for me. I cannot say enough good things about UPG, and I credit them with basically saving my life. I was wasting away to nothingness and couldn't figure out why, and they finally found an answer for me, and now I'm feeling much better than I ever did before I went in to see them. What to Take Away: Don't blame OTHERS for your LACK of planning. This is basically 2022, the year of LEARNING HOW TO WAIT! We're all going to have to adjust, and re-learn patience. No one has any patience at the moment, and that's a huge issue. Calm down, reset your expectations for the new COVID era, and come back to reality. We're going to ALL be waiting this out for a while. Last thing I want to see is a nurse wearing headphones or who has to ask the patient what their weight was because they "forgot" and they do the bare minimum. Maybe Vanessa was just unique and cared for her patients but their replacements are there just there to collect a check or so it seems. This place has lost everything that made it great, and can't bring myself to recommend them to others. Do better or at least do something.

I have had many health professionals try to convince me that what i feel is not correct but not Dr.Abid, she truly listens and takes everything i say into consideration. I always feel heard by her- which is hard to find in a doctor especially as a woman of color in the health care system. She truly cares not only for my physical & mental health but cares about how i truly am feeling. Dr. Abid truly cares and shows that by remembering her patients and giving not only medical advice but life advice.     I have been having issues with this doctors office but today was the last straw…read more Please do not go here, good doctor but definitely did not have a good experience, the doctor gave me a higher dosage on my blood pressure medication, I had an appointment today just to find out i owe for previous appointments that I thought were free bc no one ever said anything, so instead of a payment plan for the patient that has been going to her for over a year, bc I am not able to pay the entire balance today, I am unable to see the doctor to change my BP medicine, also did not know my appointment today was going to cost as well....the ladies at the front desk have horrible customer service, lack of empathy, no conflict resolution skills. I have called to the doctors office a few times to ask a question, they never give a call back when you need something but did give me a call back today to say I owe for previous appointments..I also have called the doctors office weeks ago and no one never mentioned I owed anything..also I never received a bill from them. This doctors office care more about being paid then there patients.

    **My username is an alias, for privacy reasons. I'm a legitimate patient**…read more Dr. Alvarez or her practice or both are either incompetent, insane, or badly run. I was recommended to Dr. Alvarez by a friend who is a patient of hers. My PCP sent over the referral. I was not allowed to make an appointment with Dr. Alvarez when I called them. First, I was told there had to be a "transfer of care" because I previously saw a doctor in their group (GI Alliance) two years ago. They said that the transfer was pending, a mere formality, and that I should hear back later that day. No one ever called me back so today, I drove over to their office. I spoke with the Office Manager, who flat out said Dr. Alvarez had looked over my chart and is refusing to see me. NO REASON WAS GIVEN. Huh?? That is a first for me. I've never been denied to see a doctor for non-insurance reasons. My PCP's office then called over to them and was again told about the "transfer of care". That's not what the Office Manager had stressed to me. Seems no one has any clue what's going on here and I still have no real idea why Dr. Alvarez is refusing to see me. I urge anyone wanting a referral for her to exercise caution...and consider looking elsewhere. Clearly, there is a lack of transparency here and no real evidence of a doctor who really cares...certainly not about future patients or their health.

In conclusion, patient's concerns and preferences are always a priority in my mind on forming treatment plans and I feel this is an important part to maintaining the patient-to- physician relationship and key to treating disease.
