They need new management and receptionist. My appointment was quick, but when I tried to call them about some paperwork they never answered. I called 5 days in a row at different time but never got in contact with them despite leaving voicemails for them to reach out to me. Come to find out they were trying to charge me for other stuff on top of my appointment deductible. Looks like I'm gonna have to go in person because it seems like everyone in that office is incapable of answer phones. Unprofessional! Update: The providers are great but the management is awful! The people at the front would hang up on people on the phone. And also would silence all the callas coming in. Now I know why my calls never got answered!!! And when I was indeed waiting, again, there was another lady that that came to ask them about her prescriptions. What a surprise they were also ignoring her calls to the point where she also had to come in person. At the appointment I was billed that same amount and paid it. I was told it was payment in full. If I could give half-stars I'd rate this office 2.5 stars, and I'd like to start this review by saying I genuinely like the care providers Dr. Burkhalter, Christina McCrae, and the phlebotomist here is the best one I've probably ever met. Dr. Burkhalter is thoughtful and sharp, and I always feel like she suggests treatment that's within my best interest. However, the office management is absolutely atrocious. To be clear, I never have any issues with billing or prescriptions from specialists that I see regularly or otherwise, but every single time I have to visit this office something always seems to go wrong. The first few times it happened I write it off as everyone makes mistakes. I am not a harsh person by any means, but the last couple of experiences have made me start to question if seeing the doctor I like so much is worth dealing with the headache of the office staff. The straw that broke the camel's back occurred over the last few weeks. I came in because they would not refill a prescription I need to take every day. Fine. That's typical, even if I don't necessarily love that it's commonplace. I told them I'd like to switch pharmacies, so Dr. Burkhalter said she's going to send it to CareMark, the mail-order service my insurance company uses. I asked her how to contact them to check on the status of the prescriptions, and she said to call the number on the back of my insurance card. While I waited to check out, I checked my insurance card. Nothing was labeled this way, so I was a bit puzzled. I asked the front office staff, and they insisted the same thing. Weird. A week goes by and I get word through MyChart that my prescription can't be processed because they don't have an address or an account on-file. Again, strange--CVS and Caremark are one in the same, and I've been a customer of theirs for years. I ask who to call. An employee named Charea responds and tells me to call the number on the back of my insurance card. In response, I send a photo of my ID and ask which phone number to dial because there are four or five phone numbers and none of them are labeled in the way that indicates any of them are for what she describes. She responds and in so many words she says she doesn't know. Cool. I'm started to get kind of frustrated. I call my insurance provider and spend about 30 minutes on the phone waiting to be able to sort this out. Their representative says they are going to call the pharmacy company they use. I wait 15 minutes. They come back with Express Scripts--what?! I ask the BCBSTX employee about Caremark and he says they don't use them. At this point, I'm frustrated because it's starting to become clear that Methodist Uptown mishandled this and I wasted time because they insisted that they could not provide me with the phone number to the pharmacy they called it into (what gives?). After setting up an Express Scripts account, the BCBTX rep offers to call me back once Methodist Uptown's lunch hour ends so I can have them send the prescriptions to the correct pharmacy this time. I talk to their office manager. She apologizes for the mix-up and offers to give me the number to Caremark and resend them my prescriptions. Now I'm verging on anger because the front office, the doctor, and Charea all insisted that they could not give me this number because they did not have it--and they do! I recap my experience, apologize if I sound upset, but their office has told me they don't have this info multiple times. She basically just repeats she can help with Caremark. I tell her I don't really care who the prescription is filled with, and to please just send the prescriptions to Express Scripts because it would be best if we could all finally put this to rest and I'm especially tired of being on the phone over something that should be simple. At this point, 1.5 hours spent on this issue. Charea calls to confirm the switch and feigns ignorance about our MyChart conversation. I point out we spoke. She doesn't acknowledge it or apologize. I have used Methodist Uptown as my PCP for a while now. I like the front office staff. They are very helpful and courteous. They even went ahead and put me in an appointment 2 days earlier when they had a cancellation. However, they try to charge you for EVERYTHING. I paid $83 on Tue for a virtual appointment when I thought I had a sinus infection. That was fair. The PA recommended that I go ahead and get COVID tested there at the clinic. I did and it ended up being positive. Now that I have tested positive, I need to test negative before returning to work. So, I called to get another test scheduled. Well, they wanted me to pay another $83 for a virtual appointment just to get scheduled for another test when I just tested positive WITH THEM. To me, that should be fraudulent. They even tried to charge me for an appointment just to get some cough syrup refilled in the past. It is no wonder why our healthcare costs are increasing when there are providers that are trying to milk the system like Methodist Uptown. read more

Have been going to this location for about three years. Both of their doctors have left. They replaced them with Dr. Vera. I've had the pleasure of seeing her once, she was wonderful. However, since the office manager seems to think one doctor can easily replace the two that left, many of their patients are left seeing a PA. I'm not sure if it's the PA's fault or the management's fault but they can't seem to make sure a prescription is called into the pharmacy in a reasonable amount of time. I waited FOUR DAYS for my prescription. I called the office to let them know it was never called in to the pharmacy. They just brushed it off, saying that they have confirmation that it was, instead of sorting the situation out. I went in for a body rash last week and am now looking for a new dr since my skin is now cracked open and bleeding. Thanks y'all!! You're the worst. read more

I'm not even going to mention my experience having them prescribe me a medicine for 3 years that was contributing to my memory loss when there were safer alternatives available. Not even going to mention it was my own research that discovered the issue and flagged it to the physician. I won't even mention that because I'm here to talk about their latest debacle. I realized I needed a prescription refill two weeks ago. I gave them a call and received no call back. I had to call again several days later, and then wait another whole week before I could see the PA regarding this prescription I had been getting for months for a condition I had been diagnosed with several years ago. By this time I'm out, and I'm suffering but I'm hoping for the best. After I had the appointment, they sent my request to an actual doctor to approve (They are apparently in a doctor transition now so they can't really do anything of consequence). I had to wait 24 hours for my script to be approved when it has always ever been done the same day. Then, they send me a message 24 hours later that the prescription was approved and sent, but 4 hours after that I call the pharmacy they claimed to have sent it to, no record. I called another pharmacy just in case they made a mistake, none. So here I am sitting here on thumbs two weeks after I first reached out and 1 week after I ran out of my medication and I still have no prescription being filled, and no visibility into when this will be resolved. Saying they have lost a customer is an understatement. I won't even go to a Methodist Church after this God awful experience. Run! read more

Dr. Allamon and Hollenshead had been my doctor for the past 7 years. As they have departed, I have been highly dissatisfied with the speed of service. I would not recommend Dr Burkhalter- I did not find her to be personable, friendly or caring. The nurse took my blood pressure and told me the numbers 80/120. I asked if that was good or what was normal. She condescendingly told me she would tell me if something wasn't normal. I felt like an idiot. Then I was showed to the doctors office where I waited over an hour to see the doctor for my annual physical which lasted about 10 minutes and felt very rushed. I was afraid to ask questions since when I signed in the paper had a huge warning message that any additional questions on issues would be billed extra. I would never go back here. read more

I went here with the BF to get our annual physicals. Well, for me, it was not-so-annual. More like 20 years overdue annual! Hah! I was a little nervous going in, but excited too, to finally be on the path to good health. Another doctor recommended this practice to me, and I was NOT disappointed. The staff in the office is warm, friendly, and actually smiles. This is so important in a practice. Many nurses and MA's often forget that they shouldn't act like robots going through the motions, and I didn't have this problem here. Shelly, my nurse, was thorough in obtaining my history and vitals, and made me feel comfy right off the bat. Dr. Hollenshead was a breath of fresh air. No stuffiness or condescension here. She was easy to talk to, relate to, and took the time to answer all the questions I had on my list. She explained things in detail, and again, I felt very comfortable. I got my flu and tetanus shots, as well as bloodwork, and I left feeling better than I think I ever have coming out of a doctor visit. Went in for a routine physical and to establish a relationship with a doctor. Visit went fine, they ordered bloodwork and one other test. Everything went well until Aetna sent me the claims status update stating that I owed almost $175 for tests that my doctor ordered. Apparently, Methodist Uptown Medical Group sent my tests to a lab that was not covered under my insurance. Had I known that this was going to happen, I would have never gone here to begin with. Won't be going here again! I truly hope they rectify this error as this is terrible communication between practioner, office, and patient. Side note- I already pay over $400 for my insurance plan through my school district. Another $173 as a teacher is quite impactful when you don't make much to begin with. read more

Echoing the reviews of many others on here, I went in for my annual well-visit (which should be free with insurance) and they charged me $90 dollars essentially for discussing my pre-existing condition. A condition for which they will not prescribe my medicine each year without being seen for a physical. They said because I had an "abnormality" (my very stable pre-existing condition) that they had to charge me. I spoke with my insurance company and while they said technically they are allowed to code and bill clients this way. They do not have to, and absolutely could have discussed my condition as part of my FREE physical. They are pushing any avenue they can to make money and profit off of people's conditions. read more

Since moving to Texas I have been searching for a new doctor. A friend at work referred me to Dr. Allamon and Dr. Hollenshead. I was able to get in to see Dr. Allamon and she was great. I went a physical and a prescription but unfortunately she could not prescribe what I needed so she referred me to another doctor. I was glad that I was able to get all my other testing done in one visit and at one location (in the office). I got my test results within days via their portal. So much better than waiting for a phone call. Dr. Allamon will be our new doctor as long as we remain in Texas. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Hollenshead and her staff. I usually dread going to the doctor, until I started going here. You feel like you are going to see one of your friends! Dr. Hollenshead has always made me feel at ease, but is also extremely professional and will answer any questions or concerns that you have. Another thing I really like is if she writes you a prescription, she checks in with you about it to make sure it is a good fit for you, doesn't just write you a script and be done with it. This practice is the absolute worst I've ever been to. They do whatever they can to ensure you have to come in for another appointment-- and in my case, the day after my original. They have all different types of appointments and if you want them to do something else like refill a prescription, you have to come in again to see the doctor and have a 30 second conversation about your prescriptions. They nickel and dime as much as possible and the staff who works here, mainly the office manager, are extremely rude and unhelpful. Save your time, and more importantly your money, and find another doctor. read more

The entire experience from phone call, check in, and office visit was the best experience I have ever had at a Doctors office. Everyone was professional and friendly. They really made me feel like they care. Dr. Boothe made me feel very comfortable, and made me feel like he knew me for years. Slow as hell. I came to the office on Monday complaining of coughing, congestion and allergies. I was given a shot but wasn't tested for anything. It is now Thursday and Dr. Vera requested I come back in the office. I'm thinking this would be treated as a follow up...wrong I had to pay another $25 co pay and I'm still waiting to see her. I can't say how much I appreciate the staff, Drs, PA's and NPs at this clinic. They have always provided exceptional service. I was sad to hear one of the Tenered Staff members Elvia was leaving and almost teared up with her when she notified myself of her departure. When you develop relationships that feel more like friendships from a business, you can't help but to brag and continue to fight your insurance company to make sure they are in network and have already decided if they aren't you will pay the extra money bc you know quality. The staff is genuinely concerned for your health and they do everything to make sure your time waiting is never long and even last minute appointments will try to squeeze you in. The front end staffing is always engaged and welcoming and the nurses and Drs I can't rave enough about. This clinic is the only choice for my medical provider and have made a forever patient out of myself and family. Thank you Ladies for always going above and Beyond. Updated review! This place has really eaten it since Dr.Hollenshead and Dr. Booth left. I went in and was told I had "bad post nasal drip" which I thought was a crock anyway but went in anyway because I needed to be sure. I made it clear I didn't want to see the PA and who was I scheduled with? The PA!! I will take the fault in that for not double checking when I made the appt. She comes in and says "have we met before?" Knowing that it says I don't want to see her in my chart. Since I wasn't feeling well and didn't want to be my normal confrontational (when needed) self and wanted to play dumb I played along and just wanted my assessment done. Fast forward a whole week and I now have a secondary infection related to an infection she said I didn't even have and now being treated for both. I will never be going back to this facility and will be looking for a new pcp ASAP! I wish Dr. Hollenshead would come back or open her own practice. This place is horrible now. read more

I was a new patient so I was expecting the visit to take awhile but I was in and out and never waited in the waiting room more than 5 minutes, even with multiple people visiting as well. Went in to get an asthma preventative on Friday - got that just fine and it's working great! While in there though they suggested I get a flu shot so I got it. I spent the entire wknd feeling very bad -aches, fever etc, and my arm where the shot was given was very sore. I read that it's common to get these symptoms after a flu shot. My arm however has a spreading swollen red area that hurts more and more. Today is Monday and I called them to see if I could come in. My doc is away at a conference and they didn't know about the other doctor there. They said they would call back and didn't. I called them and got the same response again. They called me back again and asked for my symptoms. Nurse said she would talk to doc and get back to me..... Hasn't. Result, I'm sitting in a urgent care clinic to get cellulitis treated. I went through my insurance's website to find someone who accepted my plan and was close to me and I came across this facility. I chose Dr. Callie Hollenshead because she had an award and just looked friendly. I had just a physical today and she was AWESOME. They explained every single thing they were doing. And Dr. Hollenshead was the absolute sweetest physician I have ever met. She was so down to earth, personable, gentle.. Wearing cute jeans and cute wedges.. Totally "chill"! I didn't wait too long, and everyone was super friendly. First time visit and I love Dr. Hollenshead. I hope I don't have to see her too often, but if I do, I know she'll be just as great!! read more

My husband found this clinic first and then I started to take my three kids there. My husband recently had called the office for a prescription refill, and the office said they could not refill it unless he had another anual physical. Ok, that makes sense but his condition would not have changed with or without that physical, and the medicine refill was the exact same one as before. After I called and "aggresively" asked questions on why they would not fill it, they gave in and called in a script only to be the most expensive name brand. I called them back to see if they can change it to the generic on the 4$ plan at walmart but Dr. Hollinshead would not because she did not "feel comfortable." His appt. was not for another 15 days but really wanted his meds. I felt like they could have helped my husband with this change in price of the med by simply changing the generic name. This was not cool. I am actually going to find another doctor for all of us including my kids, to go see. In my opinion, the office rooms were "sterile" feeling. They had "complimentary" refrigerator that was usually empty or had 1 water bottle, the Dr. would chime in with her stories of her son and her nanny when I was trying to ask questions about my own kids and say things like "my son had that and this and this and this......." I've seen both doctors as well, but Christine is just such a delight and really wants to get your medical needs taken care of. I moved to Dallas almost two years ago and picked this place because of the location and a good review from a previous Dr. who worked here. On my first visit my blood pressure was a little high. When I called to renew my blood pressure they wanted me to come in first before they would renew it,which I did, and it was normal. I then went in for my annual physical 4 months later and everything checked out and my blood pressure was, again, normal. So when I called to renew my medicine two months after that appointment, they said I needed to come in for a blood pressure check first. I explained that I had just been in for my physical and they did check my blood pressure and it was normal. The front desk lady told me that was "under a different category" and I needed to come in for "an official blood pressure check". She wouldn't let me talk to the Medical Assistant and just kept putting me on hold and relaying this information. Bottom line, they wouldn't renew it so I will not go back! This is my first review ever to write! I saw Dr. Allamon and I was very pleased with my time with her. She took the time to actually diagnose me. I am the worse at telling the doctor how I feel or what is actually wrong but thankfully Dr. Allamon was diligent in asking questions and getting the information out of me :) I'm sorry that KM had a such a bad experience, I appreciated that Dr. Allamon asked so many questions and I felt that at the end she had a great handle on how to treat me. anyways, I have also had a follow up with her and it seemed like we were old friends, she remembered me and my health issues and it was a quick visit. Oh and I was finally starting to feel better, that's a huge deal! I also love that the office is so clean and the wait is minimal! I'll be honest, I was a little nervous about going to Uptown but the doctors, nurses and staff are super nice and friendly. They are eager to serve! read more

The staff is professional and efficient. I didn't have to wait long. There is WiFi and complimentary coffee, tea, water. Etc. There is an interesting mix of music and a TV in the lobby. It is a nicely decorated place. My nurse was nice and confirmed my identity. My Dr, was also very nice, patient, and knowledgable.
